Places to stay in Linville
Close to skiing/hiking/horseback! Apartment style living that is separate from the main part of the house. Complete with queen bed/bedroom, full bathroom, bathtub, shower, full kitchen, free wireless internet, free HD DirecTV. Fully stocked kitchen.
Full kitchen/laundry/queen size bed/soaking tub/custom glass shower/large sofa/HDTV/wireless internet. The space was recently updated and everything is new! This is your home away from home. Comfortably sleeps 3-4. The sofa is big enough for two people. Complimentary coffee is provided each morning for each guest (self-serve Keurig machine). You will also have some breakfast items already in the fridge when you arrive. There is a Sonos speaker in the bedroom that is accessible only via an app for both Android or iPhone. You can listen to music while winding down your evening. Or, if you're feeling a little playful, there is also an Xbox 360 in the living room with a few games. This space is adjacent to a separate living area/apartment all under one roof. You will have your own controls for heating and air, however. There is a bit of hiking to do behind our house to explore a little nature. There is also a river located about a mile from us if you'd like to bring your fishing gear. There's even a few perfect spots to bring a tent and set up a camp fire above or around the apartment. Also, enjoy the recently built fire pit! Although we are located in a fairly remote area, you will be nearly equidistant from most of the reasons people come to Western NC! We are close to Sugar Mountain Resort and Beech Mountain Resort (40 minutes to either one, although only around 25 miles in distance). It's only a short 25-30 minute drive to Grandfather Mountain and an even shorter drive to beautiful Linville Falls (plenty of hiking/easy walking). You could also hang out in charming Spruce Pine, North Carolina which is only 15 minutes away or head over to the most interesting city in the world; that is, Asheville, NC which is only around an hour away. You can also stick around and enjoy a drink on the deck, pitch a tent and camp, do some exploring by hiking, or fish! Plenty of parking available on-site (grassy area). Airport pickup and drop off from nearby airport up to 3 hours away for a fee. This is a duplex arrangement. Although you will have full access to the apartment, the other side of the house is inhabited as well. There are only walls so keep in mind there may be some noise, but nothing that should disturb your stay. If visiting during the Winter months (anytime November thru late March) please remember to be cautious of snow/ice with preferably a 4WD vehicle. The road that leads up to the apartment is paved but there is a slight grade near the top. You'll also want appropriate clothing if you plan on getting out.
We are isolated from nearly everything with only a few sparsely located neighbors.
  • Great spot to choose in the Linville/Newland area after a day hiking the trails. Great kitchen. Special shout out to Roxy :)

  • Ricky’s place was great, and we would definitely recommend it and would come back in a heartbeat. It feels like a modern, spotless NYC apartment in the middle of the NC mountains. The living room and couch are spacious, the kitchen has everything you’d need to cook (as we did for multiple meals), the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is clean and modern, with decent water pressure in the shower. A quirky benefit: the soaking bathtub in the bedroom, which my girlfriend loved. But the reason you go is the view and the hiking nearby, and both totally delivered. It was wonderful to sit outside (even in March, it was nice enough to do so when it wasn’t raining) and stare at the mountains. We couldn’t use the chairs on the deck because there were a number of yellow jackets right near there, but made more than do with the chairs at the fire pit. :) Also, (though I’m not always a dog/animal person) we got to meet Roxy, Ricky’s black lab, who such a cute and friendly dog; we loved her. The only thing (aside from the yellow jackets near the deck) that wasn’t perfect was the internet, which was inconsistent and not particularly fast/reliable when we were there. Still, we made it work and weren’t there for internet access anyway (though we wanted to do a bit more research on hiking trails nearby than we could; recommend doing some of this before you come- also, FYI, in case you’re coming during COVID, Grandfather’s Mountain is closed currently). A few additional recommendations: Make sure to download or set the driving directions going before you get close, because most services (we had AT&T and Verizon) lose service close to the place. Also download Ricky’s driving instructions because he’s right: Google Maps won’t actually get you to the house or even the correct final “road” (really, a long driveway with another house midway and then their house at the very top). Also, the AirBnB is on the back side of Ricky’s house, so don’t freak out if you think you’re driving into some random person’s home; it says “AirBnB” With an arrow pointing to where to park on the back of their home (separate entrance etc. of course). Enjoy! It’s definitely fantastic!

  • Hands down the nicest Airbnb I've stayed in. The outside is very normal and unassuming, but the inside feels like a Manhattan Apartment. Best Shower I have used in my life, by the way.

    Jack2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was awesome! Great mountain view, very stylish, close to many parks. The only problem we had was because most things were close due to coronavirus, so call in if you want to visit any place. We were fortunate to get The Blowing Rock open still, but Grandfather Mountain was closed on the same day. A quick check-in note: download/screenshot all of the instructions to find the house before you arrive since you may not have internet access around that area. But the instructions are very clear, including all pictures of the turns.

    Thiago2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. I was shocked with how well everything has been kept considering it stays pretty booked. The amenities are all new and the decor is very stylish. The home was very inviting and the perfect size for a couple. On top of being a great space to hang around, the house is just a short drive to natural attractions. The highlight for my husband and I would probably be Roxy, the dog. She was the cutest greeter when we first arrived and hung out with us during our bonfire. She was the perfect vacation dog, friendly but didn't cling to you.

  • Lovely place for a weekend trip. Nice and secluded with great views and great amenities. Everything you can think of is already done for you and all you need to do is show up! Would absolutely come back for a longer stay.

    Gwendalynn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous little getaway for some much needed rest and relaxation. Roxy was our greeter upon arrival was most gracious and adorable. The home was so cozy and comfortable. All the extra added amenities was great and appreciated. Loved the bathtub!!! Seeing the deer wander through was an added extra bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

  • You absolutely want to spend a quality time away from the city at this place. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere and takes time to get to the house but once you do there is no other you’d rather be. The price, the quality, the modern design, the amenities. Ah! I just can’t say HOW much we loooooved it! We wish we stayed two nights or more but we only got one this time. Both of us travel and both agreed that this place is the best Airbnb we ever had. We definitely will be back! Such a retreat! Such a great hospitality! Such a great idea! And personally we would like to thank Ricky for adding his love and care that is so rare to find nowadays! 100% well done!!!

  • We had a really lovely getaway here! The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The creek is so peaceful and the plants, trees and flowers were magical. The house had everything we needed to make breakfast and coffee; awesome chemical-free options for bug repellent, bathroom spray; and all the necessities for a comfy stay. Having the ability to step immediately outside and be in an oasis is truly incredible.

  • My girl friend and I came to Chads cottage for a birthday weekend getaway. We were not disappointed in anyway! It was a charming, relaxing, and beautiful little vacation from the world that we needed. The space was very clean and Chad was very quick in his responses if we had any questions. Book this place NOW. 10 min from Blowing Rock or Boone, or just spend the entire day looking at the bubbling brook 10 ft from your bed. We were depressed leaving...

    Grant2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Chad's place was beautiful! Really a great little spot on the river! The place is very charming and kept clean. Chad gave us a few suggestions on where to go and was accessible if needed! We had a great time!

  • Great cabin in the NC high country, highly recommend for some relaxing time!

    Tim2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome place. Very cozy winter getaway! The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms super clean! View the parking video before you go... that would have been helpful for myself for sure. Getting there also in the daylight would have been a plus. The fire pit, hot tub, and fireplace were very nice pluses.

    Dannielle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in this cabin. It had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The fireplace was very warm, the beds comfortable, and hot water showers were very enjoyable. Beautiful cabin inside and out. The renters next door were very friendly as well. Great communication with the host. Banner Elk Cafe food was excellent and Valle de Bravo had delicious fajitas and cheese dip! We skied at Sugar and Beech Mountain, about a 15 min drive to all these except Beech was a little further drive.

    Stacy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality and beautiful cabin. In the winter months though make sure to bring a vehicle that is AWD or has 4x4, in case of snow and ice. If not, make sure to shovel the snow and lay salt before leaving. I would also recommend parking your vehicles at the lowest driveway. my family had a blast though and the commute to Sugar Mountain and Banner Elk are reasonable!

    Adam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Close to sugar mountain and Hawks nest. Clean home with nice touches. Plenty of kitchen gear (crockpot, the whole nine) and spices!! (So nice!) towels and soap left on bed for arrival was a nice touch. Great place, we will be back!

Located in historic Valle Crucis (between Boone and Banner Elk), this residence is the entire upper floor of our recently renovated Carriage House. Access to the floor is via a private staircase at the front of the building. The staircase can be locked at the bottom or the top. The lower residence of The Carriage House is also available on AirBnB (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/28276506) as a separate rental. We have installed extensive sound proofing between the floors but you still might occasionally hear a little noise. To help ensure a positive experience for the guests in the lower residence, we ask that you leave your shoes at the top of top of the stairs. Our family lives in the historic farm house nearby and is available as needed. Most of the furniture in the residence is original to the property or the area. Relax in the hammock and listen to the birds or watch the fireflies in the forest. Or feel free to borrow a couple of our inflatable tubes and float the Watauga River. Additionally, the residence has a 70 inch flat screen television in the main living area. With the attached AppleTV, you can access your movie or music libraries via your Netflix, Amazon, or other related account. Keep in mind that internet is spotty in the mountains and our cell phone coverage is poor.

Nearby Valle Crucis Park is a wonderful way to spend a family day outside. The Orignial Mast General Store is 1-mile away and the Blue Ridge Parkway is an easy drive.
  • We loved staying here! Leslie was a great host. Traveling with twin toddlers, we always worry about being a bother to people or having to rearrange spaces to keep delicate things out of their reach. This place was a dream for kids and we felt really relaxed there.

    Maya2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, very comfortable and the outdoor space was especially nice.

    Matt2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle and Leslie's place was unique, full of character, and perfect for our group! We enjoyed some awesome skiing at Sugar Mtn. right before it closed for the season and before we quarantined ourselves back at home during the infamous #2020 #COVID19 pandemic. They thoughtfully arranged everything, had up-to-date amenities and plenty of "must-haves" for a short getaway. The refinished barn is one of the coolest stays we have experienced so far! We will definitely be revisiting in the future! Also the neighboring goats and the beautiful dog was a nice touch. Thanks again!

    Mark2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie’s place was really nice and comfortable. We were able to make a last minute reservation and she made sure the place was all set for us for a late check-in. We wished we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy the outdoor space and the goats!

    Gwendolyn2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie's home met all of our stays needs. I am very satisfied and beyond pleased with how comfortable and homey she made it for us. I am most definitely coming back to stay at this gorgeous home. Thank you Leslie! Until next time.

    Aridai2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so beautiful! The entire upstairs cottage was huge! The location was beautiful! I really enjoyed every bit of this trip. Typically I could fine something to complain about. But this place honestly was such a good vibe that negative thoughts couldn’t take place in such a relaxing place. There was no cell service. Which was actually relaxing. They did have WiFi however, which is how I communicated with Leslie. She responded right away every time. Also had plenty places for me to choose from as far as dinner, breakfast, sunrise views, or sunset views. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get away from the hustle of everyday life.

    Jesse2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay!! Super cute animals outside nearby but are not a disturbance at all :) beautiful decor and hosts were extremely friendly /easy to reach! Definitely recommend staying here.

    Katy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Carriage House, upper level, was perfect for our little family of 3. A very clean and inviting space! Leslie checked in to make sure our stay was going well. We were very pleased with everything and are looking forward to another stay on our next trip to the mountains!

  • My husband and I came down with our 2 friends. Micheal was great and communicated very well. The cabin was cozy and welcoming. Downtown was not far away at all. The uber ride was around $20-25 to down town from the cabin. Lyft was about $13-15. The fire place and the balcony were my our favorite parts of the whole trip. The view from the master bedroom and the upstairs bedroom was stunning. Warmly, Tiffany

  • Amazing view, great host; beautiful cabin

    Makaylee2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. The Cabin had a great view of grandfather mountain! It held 6 adults and 2 kids perfectly.

    Brandon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Best cabin we’ve stayed in and by far the cleanest airbnb we’ve rented before. Gorgeous mountain views from living room. Loft space was absolutely darling. Had just about every appliance and utensils you could possibly need during your stay. Dishwasher, washer and dryer seemed all new. Bathrooms were all very clean and pleasant. About 20 min ti sugar mountain resort and 30 min to Beech mountain resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Ji2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin inside and out. We visited as part of two families, with four adults and five children. The cabin has plenty of beds, and comfortable spaces for dining and seating. The cabin is conveniently located close to the Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski resorts. Michael was exceptionally responsive in his communication before and during the visit. We wholeheartedly recommend this cabin for your stay.

    Jonathan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is a great cabin to stay at with family not only for its amenities, but also for its location and views of nature. Having the bedrooms and bathrooms on both floors allowed for easy access and the living room's open floorplan with the high windows make for excellent views. The balcony and outside seating area is amazing for sunrises and sunsets. Its location is not difficult to get to but caution must always be made for winding uphill drives. Great place and great hosts.

    Julia2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in a beautiful area with a fantastic view. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. Great place to stay!

The cabin stands on the plot of Martin Banner's homestead, the original settler of Sugar Mountain. The current structure was built in 1989 out of pine and chestnut. Bottom floor has bedroom with two twin beds, bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, full kitchen, dining and living areas. Pull-out couch in living room can sleep another two people. Upstairs is bedroom with queen-size bed, full bath. Deck out back spans the entire length of the house. Cabin is on the "quiet" side of Sugar Mountain. On the other side is the ski resort, Banner Elk, and other cute towns worth discovering.
This is a little piece of paradise away from the hustle and bustle of society. Quiet, with just the bubbling trickle of water coming down the mountain. Pond in the back attracts frogs, dragonflies, and other native wildlife. There's a couple of small farms up the road, and a friendly chocolate lab that may wander by to say hi.
  • You won’t regret staying here! We left feeling so much peace.

  • The perfect place for a quiet weekend retreat! All the directions were very clear, the cabin is lovely, and the area is very quiet. We had no trouble getting there, and the cabin had everything we needed. We hope to come and visit again!

  • A beautiful rustic home. A wonderful place to get away from the real world. There are amazing hiking trails within 20 miles. My husband and I loved it.

    Stephanie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Easy host to deal with. Directions are informative and accurate. Space was clean and tidy. Land has a neat history as well.

  • Mark and Mary's place was beautiful. The surrounding area was nice and quiet and the cabin itself was very cozy and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

    Katie2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location once you get there, the GPS took us to the wrong location at first because there are two roads with the same name. It was a very peaceful place and I enjoyed my stay. The fireplace was awesome, and it was nice to sit on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee while enjoying the sounds of birds and taking in the fresh mountain air.

  • Our family loved our stay at this beautiful cabin! The layout worked well for our large family. The house has a timeless cabin appeal but with updated decor & style. The multilevel porches and view are great! Blake was a wonderful host, answering multiple questions via email prior to arrival. Everyone with us said they’d definitely want to stay here again!

    Kent2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We chose to go in February since its the peak snow month for Banner Elk and we were not disappointed!!! Views from the cabin are breathtaking. Just minutes from a homey breakfast place but about 20 minutes from Walmart or any groceries and there's no food delivery so come prepared! We did snow tubing, Linville caverns, gem mining, blowing rock, the blue ridge parkway drive and more! Definitely stop into the local antique shops! This city is full of character, you'll probably fall in love and decide to visit every year like us!

    Nina2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We have a wonderful time at the cabin. It was very spacious and allowed us to spread out since there were 8 of us. Thank you for hosting!

    Erin2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The home was nice and cozy. Our group really enjoyed the space! Our group cooked a lot so we loved that there were so many pots, pans and utensils. The most important thing I loved is that the host was easily accessible. She always responded quickly. This was an excellent stay. Would recommend and even stay here again.

    Ty2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is awesome! Beautiful house in a wonderful location. Very close to the city. We had such a great time!

    Juli2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was too short but sweet. Blake happily and quickly answered any questions I had in a way that made me feel welcomed. This cabin is gorgeous. I especially loved hanging out with family in the "jewel Box" living room with 360 views of beautiful trees. Our kids were excited about all the toys and Legos they found in the closet. It snowed both days for us and the kids found the sleds and took them for a ride on the side yard and had a blast! Loved how close it was to Otter falls and Hawksnest both of which we enjoyed. I only have one complaint: I had wished this place had a tea pot! Maybe it does but I couldnt find it. We will be back!

    Alicia2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This Beautiful Cabin has everything me and my family of 10 need it, with beautiful views, spacious kitchen and two big living rooms, and Blake was always available for any questions.

  • This place is amazing! So picturesque, and the babbling brook is something out of a dream. The place is a little small, but it was perfect for my spouse and I. We have verizon and there was little to no service out there, but when you're staying in a cute cabin in the mountains, it doesn't matter all that much!

    Rachel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This space was just perfect for our needs! The location is serene and quaint. The quality of the bed linens were an added bonus! The weather did not allow for us to get out and explore the nature elements as we would have liked, but we’re looking forward to another chance in the future to really maximize our vacation!

Updated 30ft camper conveniently located just of Hwy 19E very close to the Toe River. Clean, rustic charm with all the basic necessities. Priced right for the small family or couple on a tight budget. Bring your fishing poles - you can fish on the property! Deer & Turkey Hunting in nearby Roaring Creek State Gamelands just 5 miles away. Sit on the porch and listen to the crickets and the bullfrogs, while enjoying the firepit. Convenient to many of the area's local attractions.
Bathroom is on the small side, so not space is not recommended for larger folks.
Rural, quiet neighborhood with friendly country folks.
  • The pictures don't give the surroundings justice. it is between the mountains down a steep drive way and there is a sign at the top stating "AIRBNB". It was perfect for the price!

  • The place was nicer than expected. Allen was a great host and knew lots about the area. It was perfect and cozy for our three day trip and didn’t feel too small.

    Ethan2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway! Close enough to the ski resort but far enough away to unplug. Would definitely stay again in the future!

    LeAnn2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Allen’s place what pretty much what I expected. The pictures are accurate. It was a simple place to stay that was a good value for the price. It is old but has everything you need. The shower was hot and the bed was really comfortable. We brought our own blankets and sheets which was helpful because it got very cold at night. The location is great - about 20 minutes from Sugar Mountain skiing. The map is not accurate so it can be a bit difficult to find. Allen did have a helpful sign which was great once we were on the right road. If you are looking for a place to cook and be protected from the elements this is sufficient.

A Tiny House at only 80 sq. ft., but feels bigger inside with one or two twin beds, micro fridge, microwave, and a camping potty. The Chick-Inn has air conditioning and heating for your comfort. Access to onsite Bathhouse upon request, with hot water shower, sink, camping potty, and outside washtub. Nested in the mountains of Avery County with mountain views and nearby creek. LOTS to do in the area. It’s only a 10 min drive to the town of Spruce Pine, the Blue Ridge Pkwy or Linville Falls.
This super cute chicken coop came with the property when we purchased. Having never had chickens in residence, we thought it would make the coolest tiny house. Outside fire ring and hang-out area is made private and cozy with fences and landscaping. There is a charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). We sell firewood for $5 a bundle (cash). Having spent several nights there myself, it actually feels roomy inside considering the size. Bathhouse water will be turned off and drained on nights we expect freezes, but will be turned on upon request when it warms up during the day. Bring your own drinking water. Do not drink the water from the bathhouse.
  • The Chick Inn was just right. Everything you need in a small space. A perfect location for NC mountain adventures.

    Kurt2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly cozy little space to spend a few days. It was much like camping but in a larger and warmer space. My kids and I had a great time and the local cat was a huge hit as she is very friendly.

    Kerry2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Chick-Inn was Spectacular! You get your own toilet, microwave, mini fridge, and the heater heated the whole place. The bed was cozy. They included dishes, towels, a place to shower including body wash/shampoo. A list of local places. Overall this place was very well worth it.

    Matthew2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great visit to the mountains- so many places nearby to hike, bike, and explore and coming “home” to the quiet chick-inn to warm up by the fire and pet the kitties was the perfect end to our days. My son had so much fun he didn’t want to leave.

    Vanessa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cute comfortable simple little place with super nice host. We would stay again.

    Rob2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The chick-inn is the perfect tiny house get away. The fireplace and the outdoor sitting area are a nice touch to relax.

    Mohana2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very cute. I was worried about not being able to find it but it was very easy with the coordinates Jeff & Donna provided. I never did meet Jeff, but I did meet Donna and she was very kind and accommodating for us. The butterfly sanctuary outside the Chick-Inn was unexpected but beautiful, as was the creek they have on property. It was about half an hour to Grandfather Mountain which was very convenient for us, and the drive up to Boone for shopping was scenic as can be. Be aware that this is much more woodsy than anything else--while there were thankfully no bugs inside the Chick-Inn, they were abundant on the rest of the property as one might expect. I have Sprint and had no issue with cell service, but my friend had T-Mobile and had no service at all. My Kindle has AT&T and it also had no service. Of course, we were aiming for a place with no service so this was a plus for us. It was very nice to have the modern comforts like a mini-fridge and microwave to help us with preparing our meals, all in all a very relaxing stay. Two adorable outdoor cats roam the property as well, they're very friendly and sat with us for a couple hours at breakfast one morning.

    Cassie2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Donna met us in the parking area as soon as we pulled up and immediately showed us where to go and how everything worked, which was nice! The Chick-Inn is laid out very well, considering how small it is! It was a bit cramped for two people but doable. The area surrounding the house was so cute and we loved playing in the creek close by! It’s a bit far from things so if you’re looking to get away from it all to relax and really “unplug”, this is the place to stay! I still wanted some connection and because cellphone service there is almost nonexistent, WiFi would’ve been nice to have available. Overall, I would definitely stay again and recommend it to others!

  • Everything was perfect! They really went above and beyond by having toys and books for the kids, snacks, and any kind of toiletry that you could need. The space was very clean and perfect for my husband, two little boys, and I. The location was perfect and the locker was a huge help so we didn’t have to carry all of our gear back and forth. We had a wonderful weekend! Thank you for everything!

  • Amanda’s place is everything you could hope for in an AirBnB. They are wonderful, responsive hosts, and the amenities in this home are some of the best I’ve experienced. They have can openers, bottle openers, all the basic utensils you could need. The walk to Sugar Mountain ski lift is so short and the ability to use their storage locker made the trip so simple and easy. We never want to stay anywhere else when we go skiing at Sugar! Such a cozy condo and perfect location!

If you are looking for a cute cabin full of rustic charm, then you found it at Nita's Rustic Cabin! Located in a rural mountain area close to Plumtree, NC, and the Yellow Mtn AT trail. Trout fishing on property. Best suited for couples and older children due to some of the the rustic features of this home not being safe for small children. Small pets under 30lbs okay. 30 mins from Grandfather Mtn. Guests must provide own linens, and be comfortable navigating a dirt drive.
The stairs to the loft bedroom are pull-down, so you must be comfortable with navigating them. There is a double size, pull-out sofa in the living area. AC is not available, but the cabin sits in a very shaded, cool area with fans throughout.
Although the cabin itself cannot be seen by surrounding homes, and vice versa - it is within walking distance to other homes. It is very private.
  • If you like a quaint, step back in time, in a lovely location, then this cabin is for you. Nice to be off the grid!

    Janet2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Nita's Rustic cabin! Nita is a great host and communicates accurately what she offers. It is a good value. Be advised that it is not for everyone - the cabin is aptly named rustic. It is in a very beautiful area of NC - and it is very rural. Finding it at night can be a challenge - but it is well marked with signage.

    Beth2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Like others, we had a hard time finding the entrance in the dark. You pass through Nita's property to get to the cabin, and we were unable to get our Prius up the final hill. Fortunately, Nita let us park at the base of the hill. The cabin itself was charming, cozy, and perfect for two of us and our dog. We particularly enjoyed the fire area and the porch (which stays quite dry even during heavy rain).

    Sid2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anita’s cabin is definitely in the rustic category, but if you’re looking for a place to unplug that’s not too far from fantastic hiking and Boone then this is the perfect spot for you. We enjoyed it so much that we cancelled our Saturday trip to Asheville so that we could just hang around the cabin with a fire.

    Sarah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic but beautiful. Loved it. Exactly as described. Daughter loved playing Pooh sticks on the river bridge.

    Barb2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay!

    Joey2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had the most amazing getaway! We were totally of the grid because our phones (at&t) didn’t have any service the whole time we were there and there is no WiFi. We loved it thought it helped us unwind and not have to worry about anything else! We did pass the drive way once but then we saw the sign out front. The cabin itself is exactly what it is in the pictures. At night we were either gathered around the fire or watching tv. Overall it was a very relaxing stay!

    Philip2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect. It was exceptionally clean, very comfortable, and offered a stay which was outpaced only by the company of Nita herself. She took time out of her day to tell me about local places and attractions, gave me advice on where to hike and attain the best views, and was simply a charming hostess. My vacation was greatly improved by her company and kindness. Two thumbs up for Nita.

Banner Elk and Boone are 15 and 25 minutes away by car. The area is known for wonderful hiking, fly fishing, cycling, whitewater rafting, skiing, and golfing. Our cottage is perfect for a couples getaway or anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful blue ridge mountains.
  • Cole’s place is very charming and cozy with two fireplaces, stylish and thoughtful touches throughout that make for a comfortable and homey stay. The hosts are very thoughtful providing all the necessary details about the area and things to do. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

  • Even more impressive in person. It has a really nice fenced yard with a little Crabapple tree that our daughter loved. The outdoor fireplace was a lot of fun. The place feels very new and classy, with rustic decor applied. Excellent, communicative host.

Intimate, cozy cabin ready to provide a base for your breathtaking adventures in the Linville and Wilson Gorges or to offer serene solitude for relaxation. Surrounded by nature and rhododendrons, you are a short walk to Louise’s Famous Rockhouse Restaurant and the area General Store for any needed supplies or beverages. Enjoy the deck hot tub overlooking the beautiful outdoors after an amazing hike to Linville Falls. Top NC skiing and Linville Winery are just a few miles away.
We would like to make you aware that in the case of the current world health situation, our cleaning team is taking special care to disinfect all touch surfaces prior to your arrival. We love this cabin because, while close to attractions and dining, you’re tucked away in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest and can enjoy nature’s finest pleasures. The living room is great for hanging out, and the outdoor patio is a perfect place for catching up and taking a dip in the hot tub. A stow-away cot provides sleeping for the 5th person, it is quite comfortable and sized to hold someone up to 6' tall. If you enjoy conversation, reading a book, adventure such as hiking, biking, skiing this cabin is perfect. While perfectly adequate for email, due to our remote location, our internet speed is a bit like a '76 Chevette.... it will get you where you're going albeit not very fast. Pro tip - toss a pair of bedroom shoes in for your walk to and from the hot tub on the cool hardwoods. This cabin is pet friendly! We love to take our dogs to the mountains and hike so want to afford you the same pleasure.
Our street is private so there is no through traffic. You are very close to great hiking and biking trails as well as area Linville and Newland amenities.
  • Perfection. This cabin is centrally located to the Blue Ridge Parkway, multiple hiking trails, Banner Elk and many other day trips. It was easy to sleep in with the dark shades, spend late morning in the hot tub and still have time for some day trips. Enjoy your evenings around the fire pit or back in the hot tub. I will definitely book here again.

  • What a great location way up in the mountains! The space fit four of us comfortably and we had everything we needed to cook and relax. The ski lift is just a short walk down the hill and the only con of being so close to the ski lift access is the noise from the snow blowers at night. It didn't bother me, but one of us had to get used to is for bed. I would definitely stay here again next time. Thank you Ashley for all the tips and quick communication!

    Trung2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were extremely impressed with the balcony view. The place was very comfortable/cozy. The location near top of lift was really convenient for us. Overall great value!!!

  • Super cozy room! Everything was very clean. Recommend!

    Bradley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing! I was a little concerned at first that we couldn't ski in and ski out from the condo if Oma's lift wasn't running / lack of snow, but it turns out not a problem at all as its a super short walk (200'?) from the complex parking lot to the main runs. Place was larger than expected yet was very warm and cozy with an awesome view of the slopes to wake up to.

  • Great stay in a great location. The home was decorated for Christmas time and felt very cozy and pleasant. It was a bit smaller than I had interpreted from the pictures but nonetheless well-organized and with all the amenities we had sought (dining table, functional kitchen, comfortable bed, etc). We were snowed in one night and the roads were too icy to drive on given my lack of 4-wheel drive, so make sure you're attuned to the weather!

  • I absolutely loved this little cabin! It is remote and isolated but convenient to anything and everything you might want/need. I enjoyed the tranquility of the rushing creek and the rain on the tin roof. This place is a wonderful escape. Enjoy!

    Keith2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a lovely getaway option. The location in the woods is nice and quiet, and the creek is really charming. It is a bit of a drive from Boone, but it's worth it if you want to be out in the woods. We had a comfortable stay. The only thing to keep in mind is that the cabin is currently drafty, and we were there on a cold windy night. This meant that the cabin didn't get above ~54F and the floor especially was really chilly. Otherwise the cabin was cozy and we had a really nice time!

    Karla2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful in every sense of the word. If you love to be surrounded by nature, but kept warm by the walls of a beautiful cabin, please stay here. The hosts were honest, and very thoughtful. It snowed while we were staying in their cabin, and they made sure to check up on us, just in case we had trouble getting out of the driveway. It’s a 15 minute drive to downtown Boone, whilst maintaining total privacy in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Also, oh my god, the animals. They’re adorable. We wanted to take the dog (Fiona) home with us!! Oh and the creek right outside of our door... don’t even get me started. Please stay here and enjoy what all Mother Nature has to offer!

    Alexa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Our place is close to ASU, 15 min from App Ski Mtn. The house has lots of warmth, love and peace in it. My partner Dave and I live here and I have 2 rooms that we rent out. The neighborhood is safe & friendly. There is access at the end of my road to the Greenway, so there is great walking and hiking nearby.
We like a natural and simple house. The yard is extra special — There are lots of trees, gardens and natural life. There is a lovely picnic table and hammock by the creek. In the summertime, we enjoy hosting neighborhood potlucks and bonfires. In winter, curling up by the fireplace is heavenly. Start your morning with a hot mug from our complimentary coffee & tea bar. (Usually stocked with organic beverages.) Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families with older kids and house trained dogs.
Very safe neighborhood. Lots of kids play on one of the surrounding streets, the bus route is a few houses away. The greenway is attached to the neighborhood. A grocery store is just across the highway. Birds will sing, and the creek will have water that dances and sparkles. This is a really great location. It is close to town (5 -7 min) yet far enough that nature surrounds you.
  • Jasmine is very welcoming. She creates a calm environment and her home is very clean. The bed is super comfortable and blankets so soft. With the wind blowing, you won’t have any trouble falling asleep. I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely recommend staying here

  • wonderful place. felt like home

    Bill2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jasmine is super nice and Dave is super chill. The room has an interesting style using natural pieces of trees for furnature and a towel holder. They modulate the wi-fi signal to more harmonize with the human body. I found that interesting. Perhaps that adds to the "relaxing" aspect that the room has a reputation of having. Hey, we found it comfortable. For us, the place was nice enough and was a great value. We'd definitely stay again.

    David2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the place! My brother and I had planned our very first ski trip to Appalachian Ski Mountain and we spent the previous night at Jasmine's place. Although they were out of town, they made sure all the arrangements were taken for before we arrived. The ambience is super calming and peaceful. Wonder experience! Would love to be back for our future ski trips!!!

The space was clean, comfortable and close to everything. Definitely worth a stay if you will be in the area.

  • Johnny and Sallie were some of the most wonderful people we have ever gotten to know on our adventures. If we could give them more than 5 stars we wouldn't hesitate to. They gave us loads of information not only about the surrounding area, but the entire state of North Carolina. Johnny and Sallie truly blessed us with an amazing experience during our stay. Thank you so much for yall's hospitality. Both of you left us with memories we will forever cherish. They're place was just as wonderful as themselves and next time we visit we will be sure to stay with them again.

The space is beautiful and quiet, yet close to most attractions in town. This space is great for professional students who have clinicals in the area and want to avoid a long term lease.

Two-bedroom, two bath cabin eight miles south of Boone, North Carolina on Highway 105 in the Watauga River Valley. Fifteen minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock. A large covered wrap-around porch offers the best sittin' in the Blue Ridge and a pleasing mountain view. Enjoy your solitude or entertain in the spacious great room. Many popular attractions are nearby.
The cabin has two bedrooms. There are two twin beds in the first bedroom and a queen-sized bed in the second. (We also have one twin air mattress with additional bedding.) Each bedroom has its own washroom with a shared tub area between them. We provide clean bedding, towels, washcloths, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash and, unlike many other listings, we charge no additional cleaning fee. The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need. We also provide paper towels, place-mats, and napkins. There is a charcoal grill available for outside cooking. Guests may use the laundry facilities in the basement level. There is a flat-screen TV with basic cable channels, wi-fi, and a house phone that can be used for local and long distance (USA) calls. The house is wheel-chair accessible, there is a grab-bar for the tub, and a safety gate at the top of the stairs.
Our cabin is located in a small subdivision called Watauga River Overlook. The subdivision "overlooks" the river in the topographical sense, but does not actually contain a scenic overlook...just to clarify :-) The neighborhood is rustic, with gravel roads and about twenty houses on wooded lots. Most of the residents live here year-round, so ours is an "ordinary" neighborhood in that sense. The cabin feels remote, but is actually only about a half-mile from Highway 105, which is very convenient. (For the sake of honest disclosure, note that some highway noise can be heard.) The view from the cabin changes with the seasons. In summer, the leaves block the long-range view, but you will feel like you are sitting in the treetops, which has its own wonder. The view re-emerges in fall as the leaves thin out and turn beautiful colors. The best long-range views are in winter, after the leaves have fallen. In spring, the view recedes as foliage slowly returns. An encounter with wild animals is unlikely, but the rural nature of our neighborhood makes me feel the need to mention it as a possibility. Deer and rabbits are by far the most common wild animals in our area, but bears and raccoons are sometimes drawn to outside garbage cans. We see few snakes, but certainly they are present in the woods. It is never a good idea to interact with wild animals - even those that seem harmless.
  • Susan’s cabin was AMAZING and close to everything we went for our winter vacation (20 to 30 minutes to very good tubing and skiing places). The place has everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. We loved it there!! Already planning to come back during summer for more of the great experience the area has to offer.

    Mercedes2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. Exactly right for 3 friends looking for a getaway weekend. It's the little things that really add up-- good cookware, extra pillows, ability to easily manage the temperature, strong wifi, bathroom supplies, comfortable furniture. It all sounds mundane until you stay somewhere that doesn't have it. This is the house I would build for myself if I had a mountain horse.

    Kelly2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, cozy and very well stocked home. Excellent host. We have stayed 3 times now and will continue to book in the future!! Will not disappoint. 😊

    Ashley2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • David's entire operation at the Station 19e is absolutely phenomenal. He was quick to respond and offers everything you could want as a hiker. The hostel was clean and comfy cozy, the bar/restaurant has an amazing selection of craft beer and great food, live music (at least when I was there on a Friday), and a shuttle service to trailheads which is so clutch for doing any point to point/section hikes. I cannot say enough about how wonderful of a place and stay this was. I highly recommend it to anyone!

    Kayce2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • All of the through-hiker-hostel vibes your little heart could wish for—and a tap list from all over the Southeast downstairs. Truly an idyllic respite from the winter outside.

    Crista2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot. Clean bathrooms and comfortable beds. There is a pub downstairs with a good selection of craft beers. Dave is a great host, very friendly guy and recommends good beer. Met some really nice people out there and will definitely be back.

    Jaison2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place is located on the state line of Tennessee and North Carolina. It’s easy to find and easy to feel welcome there. It’s the perfect place for the outdoorsmen to spend the night or a few days. The Hostel has all the amenities of a house with a large family. Livingroom, M&W Restrooms, Kitchen, Semi-private rooms and washer & dryer. It’s a rustic, campish environment, so don’t expect it to be a Holiday Inn. But the sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, the silverware was washed and coffee was great in the morning! I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

  • Absolutely loved our long weekend getaway at The Loft! The whole property and Loft were beautiful. The king size feather bed was super comfortable, the large soaking tub was amazing, the room was so farm chic, and the property had chickens, goats, and Arlo (best watch dog ever)!! Kcups and creamer, sodas, and waters were a big plus. We were only there a couple of nights and it was perfect for our trip. No wifi but we knew that ahead of time and downloaded some movies and shows to watch, but there is cable TV in the room. We would recommend this spot to our family and friends, it was perfect for the weekend!
