I created this accommodation because I wish there was a place like this. ☆This is not a hotel. We want you to think about how you want to spend your time. On sunny days, enjoy morning coffee on the large wooden deck. In the cold winter, warm up with a wood stove, and make and eat a delicious meal yourself. Play your favorite music, and read surrounded by books lining the walls. Take a walk to Gero Station while catching a glimpse of life in Gero. Fishing at sea, picking azaleas, bamboo shoots, and wild potatoes in the mountains, and eating them yourself. Long stays are recommended. Based at Shimonada Cabin, it is about an hour's drive to Matsuyama City. 2.5 hours to Shimanto River. 3 hours to Shikoku Karst. Shopping can be done in Iyo City or Nagahama Town, or you can buy from local fishmongers and greengrocers and cook for yourself. Of course, you can also eat at a nearby restaurant if you book. Anyway, I want you to relax at Shimonada Cabin. One night is too wasteful. I recommend at least 2 days. It is a place that can be enjoyed in good weather or bad.

Centered on a magnificent large pillar, it is an old house with earthen walls and built-in storage, but the first floor is covered with pure cedar boards, giving it a new feel. The water area features a newly built island kitchen and a large wash basin. The bath is a Goemon bath that uses both wood and gas, so you can cook with wood or use hot water. Outside the house, there is a friendly sign cat named Aosuke, who will come up to you if you are outside. It is located about 15 minutes by car from the Ishikari Mountain ropeway, making it easy to get to the mountains.

This house is a beautiful blend of traditional and modern making it convenient but also authentically Japanese. Mountains and ricefields are beside you, the Shimanto River can be heard. The ground floor is all yours. It's spacious with a large tatami sleeping room that can become two. The A/C is only in one room if the doors are closed. There is no central heating. Restaurants are within 10min or you can prepare local foods in your own equipped kitchen. It’s designed for long and short stays.

Embrace the “slow life.” The space is a renovated private bungalow next to our main house. Surrounded by trees and quiet, it's an oasis to unwind, unplug, have lazy breakfasts and nap in the hammock. For more active travelers, it's a good base to explore the area. We are 9 km from Shimanto City restaurants and shopping and an easy drive to activities on Shimanto River or the beach. We do require a 2-night minimum but highly encourage you to slow down and stay longer.
