Steve and Kat met while travelling and working in Latin America, fell in love, and then fell in love with Guatemala. Inspired by the balinese style bungalows discovered on a backpacking trip through South East Asia in 2009, Steve dreamed up La Fortuna. Steve has worked in the tourism industry for the past 5 years, while Katharine has spent many years working in government to protect the environment .Combining their two passions, they have created an ecological haven on Lago Atitlan, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. All materials used in construction have been locally grown and crafted, while maintaining the most minimal impact on the environment. All electricity is generated by solar power.
