The Orosi Valley is Costa Rica’s secret gem. Smack dab in the middle of the country, you’ll have easy access to any other adventure you want. And with perfect climate—average daily temps in the mid 70’s—the area is perfect for adventure tours, birdwatching, other escapades with nature, or just relaxing. But be forewarned: your private, green, energy efficient bungalow in the mountains will be so seductive and comfy, you may never want to leave.
“If you are looking for a secluded spot with amazing views, you've found it! This is not a touristy area, and while it may be a bit further from the "standard" Costa Rica that some people want, there is so much to the area and this amazing spot. Ray and Michele were traveling but still very responsive and left us in the capable hands of Bryan, who greeted us along with 3 super friendly doggos and a cuddly cat. We found fresh milk, cheese and eggs, a super clean house, and the most amazing view and peaceful vibe. The drive up the mountain felt a bit intimidating the first time for these Floridians but it's definitely worth it and not bad after the first time. Animal lovers, this is your place! We played with goats, talked to the turkeys, and ran from the geese lol. The dogs and cat are wonderful! Hit up a store before you get too close, get some supplies, and make yourself at home, which is super easy to do. Also, visit Cafe Cristina for a really great coffee tour. It was a highlight! Also be sure to visit the Irazu volcano (we were mind blown) and the sanitorium, both which were within an hour distance. Drinking coffee and having a fresh breakfast on the balcony early in the morning was a top experience. Our time was unexpectedly cut short at the airbnb (our doing and had nothing to do with the spot at all....I'd still be there if I could!) but we will definitely make it a part of our next trip! The vibe there was awesome!”
200 hundred acres of completely natural and pristine landscape with primary and secondary forest. An abundance of water in the form of several waterfalls, a small river and various nacientes (springs). Plenty of trails for hiking, over 200 species of birds in the area. Rural location at an elevation of 4200'. Therefore it is never hot during the day and a bit chilly at night. This is the rainforest so it's always green. Internet and laundry facilities available.
“We spent nine days at this lovely cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was just roomy enough for my wife and I, and our rather large dog who loved the large deck, to unwind. The on-demand hot water was a wonderful treat. Our favorite aspect of our stay was dealing with Ricardo, his son and the very kind over the phone translator who help us overcome the language barrier. It was pure Costa Rica ...warm, good-natured, and unfailing helpful. Ricardo is a great person and will help make your stay here memorable.”

“Beautiful country place, very quiet and safe, excellent location to easily reach important attractions of Cartago such as the ruins of Ujarrás, and the Cachí dam where we could even walk, among others. We arrived at the property without any problem thanks to the excellent communication with Diego, it can be accessed by any type of vehicle, and we really liked the house and its details as seen in the photos, it is well equipped, we were able to prepare meals , and rest in comfort. As a recommendation do not forget repellent since insects could appear due to their nature.”
