De Oude Smederij

Enjoy and relax in the Frisian countryside? This is possible with us in De Oude Smederij, which was formerly a forge but has been completely renovated into a comfortable vacation home. The Oude Smederij is located in an agricultural area on the outskirts of the village of Arum (on the Elfsteden route) and is centrally located between Harlingen (on the Wadden Sea with ferry services to Vlieland and Terschelling), Franeker (Planetarium and Frisian Museum), Bolsward (Broerekerk) and Makkum, located on the IJsselmeer with boulevard and beach.

Beautiful place to relax in Workum

This lovely apartment, located on the first floor, has beautiful views over the countryside, is right on the water and offers plenty of privacy. Through the front door, you enter a spacious hall where you walk up the stairs and enter the apartment. Through the hallway, you reach the bedroom with a comfortable double box spring bed. Opposite the bedroom is the toilet with the spacious bathroom next to it. At the end of the hallway is the spacious cozy living room with kitchen and also two sleeping places.

Rural farm near the Wadden coast

A beautiful old, rustic farmhouse in Friesland. Does this sound like music to your ears? Then this is the cottage for you! The property is divided into two homes. The downstairs is occupied by the owners, but upstairs is a closed-off theater attic, which also serves fantastically as a living area. Then it's a living room and kitchen in one, where you can play games or watch movies on big screen. Remember! There is a staircase to the living area. Mandatory tourist tax: €1.25 per person per night

The house offers three bedrooms each with en-suite bathroom. It’s understated elegant interiors have been published in the UK House and Garden and the Residence interior magazines. Guests get to use the grand blue room with velvet clad walls and the souterrain kitchen with wood burning stove. There is a peaceful city garden with BBQ and outdoor seating. In the winter one can enjoy cosy evenings besides the various fireplaces, long dinners in the kitchen or baths in one of the bathrooms.

On your way to Vlieland or Terschelling? Then it is wonderful to relax beforehand in the Blauwe Doffer and start your crossing without stress!

Apartment 't Achterdijkje

't Achterdijkje is a centrally located apartment in the authentic fishing village of 'Makkum'. The view of the sea dike and the masts of the ships in the harbor makes it the perfect location for rest and relaxation. From the front door, you can walk up the dike and have a view of the IJsselmeer and the port of Makkum. Fancy more life in the brewery? At about 200 meters is the center of Makkum and at about 2.5 km the beach with restaurants, shops and a top location for windsurfing!

Visit Makkum, Harlingen or take a day trip to the Wadden Islands. Cap off the day at Pizzeria Pingjum. Great for couples, families, and peace seekers. And fishing from the garden.

Also in the large garden (with private parking) it is wonderful to stay in good weather. Base for the Wadden Islands, Harlingen, Leeuwarden and the Frisian lakes.

In 2022, we built our vacation home in this unique location and it has all the comforts! Whether you are cooking together in the luxury kitchen or hanging out on the sofa in front of the wood-burning stove, you will notice the intimate atmosphere and the beautiful light everywhere. The house is located directly on open water and has a large veranda. With the village and beach within cycling distance, this is a wonderful place to recharge.

This centrally located accommodation is tastefully decorated and is located in the heart of Workum overlooking the harbor and the large church. All the shops, restaurants and museums are in walking distance . One of the most beautiful city squares of Friesland "De Merk" just a stone's throw away.
