  • Andrea's place is cozy, clean, and a perfect retreat from it all! It is also close to everything the area has to offer. We love staying here!

    Lora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and spacious apartment for two of us! We loved the in-floor heating and gentle dog who came to say hi to us at our door. The town of Putney is very cute with Brattleboro just down the road!

  • A great find for a weekend away!

    Hannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place had everything one would need while away (except a microwave). It was very quiet and peaceful but occasionally could hear footsteps from upstairs. Andrea quickly replied whenever I texted and yet was patient when I took time to reply due to being away from my phone. The place is as described and would recommend it for any types of getaway including romantic ones. It was one for me and newly hubby.

    Hansarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea’s apartment was perfect for our weekend away. The kitchen was great for making breakfast in the morning and the walk down to the river was a great way to start the day.

    Erin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very comfortable, clean, and modern. The walk down behind the house to the stream was quite beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and Andrea, the host, was a sweetheart.

    Mary2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb and the apartment location was peaceful. Sweet, roomy, comfy and cozy all in one. Our last day met owner and sweet daughter and Milo. I would definitely stay here and recommend this Airbnb to family and friends who plan to visit Vermont.

    Richard2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for what I needed and was exactly what I was hoping for. The house was extremely clean, adorably styled and had everything we needed. The little trail in the back wad perfect for a short walk into the fresh air! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a little woodsy getaway

    Cassandra2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing weekend getaway. Truly! It was everything we wanted. BEAUTIFUL space! So unique. Great travel tips, thoughtful touches & great host. Very clean. Very comfortable. We had an amazing time renting snow mobiles a quick 45 min drive away at Mt Snow!

    Julia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is extremely clean, super cute, cozy but feels spacious on the inside, has an amazing bed, and the windows look out into the woods which makes it a very relaxing place to be. We enjoyed exploring the woods behind the house and playing scrabble. Great spot!

    Maria2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this winter hideout. Super smart use of space and so tastefully put together. A perfect spot to use as a base for skiing at Mount Snow. Can't wait to return - a hot mug of Duchess coffee, book in hand, watching the snow fall. What an incredible weekend break!

    Chloe2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great. Very cozy and quiet. We'll definitely be back.

    Susan2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Honeycrisp Cottage was incredibly beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully appointed. The bed was so comfortable and the panoramic views of the snow-covered pine forest were incredible to wake up to each morning! The hike down to the creek on the property was magical in the snow and would be beautiful in any weather! The cabin felt secluded but close enough to town to easily run in for groceries/deli at the excellent co-op. Andrea was also super helpful and responsive! I would love to stay again in the future!

Cozy efficiency apartment with loft. Daybed downstairs doubles as a couch. This apt works well as a stay-cation spot too. Sanitizing of surfaces done in between all stays. We are close to downtown Putney, which features a live music venue, an independent bookstore (roasting their own coffee!) and local food co-op. There are lots of hiking trails in Putney, as well as cross-country skiing opportunities. Close to Landmark College, the Putney School and the Greenwood School.
The apt is a separate space, suitable for two people very comfortably, three if good friends or family.
Putney Mountain is a short, beautiful hike. Black Mountain is also lovely. There is an independent bookstore, a General Store, and a food co-op. There is a Farmer's Market at the local orchard during the winter months, and the Putney Craft Tour is famous for the quality of the artisans.
  • Amazing place, sparkling clean, easy to find and very nicefull touch. Would definitely recommend it.

    Bhavya2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gay's apartment is a very cute space that had everything we needed to enjoy a night away from home. The loft bedroom was adorable, and so was the daybed and kitchen. My boyfriend and I were very comfortable there, and I would definitely recommend it! They also left a homemade chocolate coconut bar that was gluten free and dairy free, which was completely unexpected, but amazing because I have those dietary restrictions! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

    Beth2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay for a weekend getaway!! Very cozy and comfortable. It’s very convenient located near some town centers. Host is very hospitable! Loved this place and hope to visit again.

  • This is place was easy to find in a beautiful spot with lovely hosts!

    Layla2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and unique apartment had a great night stay.

    Zach2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely first floor unit with lots of privacy. The bedroom is in a second floor loft but there is also a daybed on the first floor. The kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, with many thoughtful touches to make the place more welcoming. We loved the exposed beams, comfy flannel linens and beautiful views! The sulphur content in the water is pretty high so someone with a sensitivity might be uncomfortable, but we didn't mind it. Gay was great about communicating and very responsive when we had a question. We definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days!

    Kim2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect spot for a 1 night ski vacation. Gay was outside to greet us and she was very flexible about check in because of a snow storm. Very clean are with only a 20 minute drive in to Brattleboro and less than an hour to mount snow. Would recommend.

    Eli2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect spot for a long weekend getaway! Gay's place is very cozy and well stocked with lovely touches like tea/coffee, they even included fresh butter and half&half in the fridge. It is conveniently located off the main road in Putney, perfect for exploring the Brattleboro/Bellows Falls area. Would be delighted to stay here again!

In the village there is a wonderful farm to table restaurant, the Gleanery. A local pub, friendly, great food with indoor and outdoor dining, JD's Pub. The General Store, is the oldest continually run general store in Vt. The Next Stage, Yellow Barn, Sandglass Theater, these places provide an amazing collection of visual, musical, spoken word and world renowned art and artist to experience. These cultural event locations are but a mile away for the Cottage I hope you choose for your stay.
Originally built as a guest house. A perfect getaway for some peace and quiet. It gets dark here at night, very dark. You will see a sky full of stars most nights. Only a mile from the village on a dirt road. Very quite, private and in the woods. Extra care is put into cleaning every surface between guests. Keeping it very clean brings me another peace of mind I can share with you.
  • We loved staying in the cottage! It was the perfect place to get away from it all. Kathleen was a very welcoming host, extremely friendly and kind. We had everything we needed for a perfect little get-away and can't wait to come back!

    Holly2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen cabin was the perfect place to get away into nature during our trip to Vermont. Tucked away, it was the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet in her comfortable cabin. Kathleen was the perfect host even accommodating our late 9 pm arrival, and then graciously teaching us how to use her wood stove. The wood stove was the perfect touch to the clean and cozy cabin. Kathleen was quick to respond to questions through texts and calls and we can’t wait to be back. Thank you Kathleen!

    Jess2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s place was super cozy and super rustic. It is nice to stay here because you really get the sense that you are out in the woods.

    Rj2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage is a perfect retreat when you want to get away from it all. Kathleen is responsive to questions and ensures there is plenty of wood for the stove, tips for the area including having a flashlight for late afternoon walks and some supplies in the fridge (milk, granola, yogurt..). The bathtub with the view of the woods is heavenly and the bed was cozy and warm with another great view of the woods. It's rustic with the pleasures of on demand hot water, electricity and good cell service. My hardest decision was whether to sit up in the bedroom or down by the wood stove hearing it crackling.

    Tracy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's place was absolutely fantastic! She was very communicative, kind, and flexible. Everything was incredibly clean - and just as described. Super adorable place, and perfect for a getaway. The town is nearby - with great restaurants and diners and lovely people. Will likely be back, and could not recommend more.

    Kiah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s place is perfect for an escape. The cabin has small touches that make your weekend perfect. The wood stove was warm and cozy on a snowy weekend. It was the most comfortable bed with the softest blankets. Hope to come back again.

    Amber2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s cabin is tucked away in a quiet spot, surrounded by trees and close to everything in Putney. There are thoughtful touches to the cabin, a big bathroom and laundry (a nice touch for those, traveling. Grab a meal at the Coop or Store and take it back to a restful spot. This cabin served my needs well this trip to VT and Kathleen was a great host.

  • Everything about Christine and Joe’s place was great. It was a snowy day when we arrived, and the apartment was warm and inviting, and fully functional. Joe was kind and welcoming, and had even cleared and sanded the driveway for traction. Beautiful and enjoyable.

  • This Depot was amazing. The location was super easy to find, close to everything you need in Putney. Not only was it a fully stocked house with everything we needed, it was also sparking clean. The train was a little strange, but not enough to call a nuisance, and certainly quieter than you would expect. You will not be disappointed in this cute little place!

    Nicholas2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The train depot is so great! We had the best time and wanted to stay longer. The trains that go by are fun and add such charm to the space. This newly restored 1860's brick one-room school house with bedroom addition is situated 2 miles from the center of Putney, Vermont. Sleeps 4 in bedroom and living room pullout couch.
This is a magical space, with exposed brick, a cathedral ceiling, and lots of glass, recently renovated with hardwood floors, granite counters, and a marble bathroom. It has radiant heat in the floor, a Viking stove for cooking, a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and a well equipped kitchen. Directly out the back door are miles of trails and many acres of agricultural land. There is easy access to groomed cross-country skiing and mountain biking and a swimming hole around the corner. In good weather, guests have access to a clay tennis court and swimming pond with a dock a few miles away. We also groom 10 miles of XC ski trails for classic skiing on our property nearby. • This was our second visit in Evie's beautiful "schoolhouse" cottage. The perfect place to relax no matter what the weather, with everything we needed to cook, read and listen to music. The bed linens are incredibly comfortable and wood stove make a great gathering space. The walking trails behind the house were a great way to burn off the holiday food. Special touches and quick communication let us know how much Evie cares about her guests ;). Can't wait to return!

    Renee2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! The schoolhouse is an incredibly calming and welcoming place with everything you need to be comfortable. Lots of information about the local area and great communication.

    Liz2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The schoolhouse is quintessential Vermont charm. We love it! The rooms a beautiful and austere with historical Vermont touches, such as class pictures from the original students and Evie's stunning photos of the upper midwest reservations. Pastoral views out every window. We've rented it twice for extended family, as I live just down the road. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities for hosting a small brunch for preparing a pot luck dish.

    Joanne2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Evie’s place! The communication was super easy and the hospitality was even better than expected. Evie gave us a flexible check in and check out time, which allowed us to have a little more time at her beautiful home. She is so thoughtful and even left a bottle of wine for us when we got in. The school house was adorable, quiet, clean and spacious - even better than the pictures (our favorite part was the fire pit!). The location was perfect and around the corner from a beautiful orchard (2 minute drive). I would definitely recommend this place to anybody and we hope to come back to Putney sometime soon!

    Kelsey2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time at Evie's schoolhouse. As usual, we can't say enough about this place. We love it. The bed is so comfy. The kitchen is so modern. The sound system is awesome. There is an orchard just around the corner. With no tv, it's the perfect place for relaxing. (Trust me, you don't want it anyway!) There's a backyard to hang out in. Did I mention the bed was super comfy? Evie is also great. She answers any questions that you have and is just plain nice! My partner and I can't wait to come back again next year.

    Meghan2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Evie's farmhouse was spectacular!! Beautifully designed, absolutely spotless, and outfitted with every final touch you could need. We spent the afternoons on their hilltop watching beautiful sunsets and then hanging out by the fire watching the moon rise and set while coyotes howled in the distance. We would then make our way back to the extremely comfortable bed for a night of silent and peaceful sleep. This place has it ALL, and Evie has not missed a single detail. Book it!!!

Putney is a picturesque town in beautiful Southern Vermont. It's proximity to Brattleboro as well as all the things available to do in Putney make it an inviting place for families, couples or singles. There is so much to do here it cannot be listed. It's really a 4 season town. The fall brings harvest festivals, scenic foliage drives and The Brattleboro film festival. In Winter we are fortunate to be close to many ski resorts Mount Snow ( 28 miles)Okemo ( 43 miles) Bromely ( 51.7 miles) and Stratton ( 25 miles). Living Memorial Park in Brattleboro offers great sledding, ice skating and has a rope tow to practice your skiing technique. Summer is special as we have many watering holes, great swimming under a covered bridge in Dummerston, kayaking, fishing, drive in movie theaters and great ice cream nearby. The new MGM Casino in Springfield is a little less than an hour away.
  • This is a special property located on 40+ private acres, We absolutely had a great time and enjoyed the frozen pond immensely. In fact we abandoned the plan to go skiing to stay on the property the whole weekend. The only downside is that my wife is highly sensitive to pet hair and her allergies started to mildly act up. But this is an extremely great value compared to other bnb's around.

  • The house was very lovely and was a great addition to our trip. The house was beautiful and fit everyone one of our needs and Michelle was very kind and flexible. Overall the trip was made better because of Michelle.

  • We intentionally traveled to Michele's home in the midst of snow advisories in order to have a special cozy few days in Vermont. We got what we asked for: we ended up being snowed in, and Michele was so wonderful as a host to make sure we were well taken care of it. She was very communicative, caring and thoughtful. The setting -- a peaceful home in the midst of nature -- was a perfect place to be "stuck" overnight.

    Andrew2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is definitely a lovely, secluded spot, Very clean with plenty of room. Michelle was very good at communicating directions and checking in to see if our visit was going ok and if she could assist in anyway. We have family in the area so we didn't have to ask Michelle to do much of anyhing. We ended up leaving a day early due to an impending snow storm and our daughter having had an accident with our car. She was very understanding. If you do visit, 4 wheel drive is almost essential for the last leg of the driveway. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking but we didn['t get to use them as our family wanted to host most of our meals. It is good to know that there is a plenty of glassware and dinnerware so meals could be enjoyed at the rental. Best Aspect: On clear nights, the stars are fantastic.

    Theresa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Michele’s place for a super last minute weekend snowboarding at Mount Snow. It was exactly 45 minutes from the Carinthia base area. The place was exactly what we were looking for and had a beautiful view when we were waking up at sunrise. Michelle was a kind and accommodating host who we will definitely consider next time we are visiting the area.

    Ryan2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful weekend here. We awoke each morning to stunning views of the pond below and mountains beyond. Our dog loved roaming around the woods and I was especially impressed by how truly remote it felt (being only a few minutes from groceries and restaurants in Putney).

  • Dan’s farmhouse was the perfect romantic winter getaway. It offered everything you could expect from the cozy and warm setting of a family farmhouse to a fire going in the wood stove to the sprawling hills and pine trees of the property. It had the perfect home away from home feel. Meeting Dan and seeing his love for this place added the finishing touches along with the dozens of beautiful photos showing all the years and generations of love and family throughout the home. An essential and classic New England experience to the fullest. Can’t wait to go back!

The Artist's Nest has the feel of a well-equipped, cozy cottage located on the first floor of a 275+ year-old barn. This renovated jewel has many new amenities, while its exposed original beams offer an elegant, Vermont rustic charm. *Two bedrooms available, see a second listing for The Artist's Nest Apartment 2 bdrm.
Designed to host artists who study fine art at Village Arts of Putney and with master painters Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik, this summer of 2017 will be the first time we open this space to AirBnb guests! We keep the fully functioning kitchen stocked with basics like coffee (French press or coffee pot), teas, sugar, some condiments, snacks and cereals, peanut butter and jam! For an extra fee, we can stock whatever foods you would like. This unique setting is a nature lover and artist's paradise located on 28 acres including meadows, beaver wetlands, a Secret Garden down in our Long Meadow for relaxing or having a fire, and nearby 100 acres of nature trails for hiking and snowshoeing. Imagine all that nature and only a five minute walk to the village!
Located just outside the village center, this property has a rural flavor. The area is full of writers, artists, farmers, actors, sculptors, glass artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and musicians. A few (country) doors north of us is the Hidden Springs Maple Syrup Farm Store housed in a lovely barn with maple products, artisan gifts and delicious ice cream cones. Throughout the summer Putney hosts Twilight at the Tavern with live musicians outside on the green, and a farmer's market on Sunday mornings across the street from the Putney Co-op. International students and guests come to Putney for education, to study music and art, and to enjoy our many events: The Yellow Barn Music Festival, The Sandglass International Puppet Theatre, the Putney Arts & Crafts Studio Tour, Village Arts of Putney fine arts workshops, and Next Stage Arts performance center. Visitors also love Basketville which houses a wide variety of gifts, baskets, culinary items, toys, clothes, Vermont products, a tractor seat collection and wine tasting from the Putney Winery. Culinary offerings range from the very affordable Putney Diner to The Gleanery, a high-end, local-vore, fine-dining establishment. All are within walking distance!
  • The Artist's Nest is absolutely wonderful. Everything is top notch. My niece and I had a glorious getaway for a few days. It is even more beautiful and comfortable than in the photos that initially grabbed my attention. I am already plotting how to get back there for a getaway with my husband as well as a few solo days to get some writing done. I miss it already. The amount of light that pours in on three sides of the living room and kitchen surprised me being that the apartment is on the ground floor of an Art Barn. And the view of the meadow and surrounding area is fantastic. Penelope is a wonderful host and such an interesting person. She knows the area well and had lots of suggestions for our snowshoe and nordic ski adventures as well as restaurant options. The apartment is spacious and has a wonderful vibe thanks to Penelope's artistic eye, great taste and attention to detail. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of room. The bed and sheets are supremely comfortable. The bathroom is really nice with a half bath within the full bath for privacy. We were there to nordic ski and snowshoe, but we found it hard to leave and eager to get back. Also, the mud room is a dream. And the radiant heat makes for a very cozy winter stay. The barn is close to the road but we didn't really notice because there isn't a lot of traffic in Putney, and being on the ground floor blocked noise and lights. One great feature that is worth noting is the sidewalk that goes all the way to town. It was so nice to walk downtown to have dinner at The Gleanery; we enjoyed the atmosphere, the salads and our meals. We found treasures at the two 2nd hand shops in town, and we fully enjoyed the delicious food at the Putney General Store and the Putney Co-op for lunch and snacks. We had one dinner in Brattleboro, but we liked being close to the Artist's Nest. We slept well, read books, perused art books and magazines and drank tea. There is a TV for those in need. This place is very special and makes for a wonderful getaway.

  • It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to stay in this beautiful, special space and get to experience Penelope’s hospitality and kindness which was truly so very generous! I cannot wait to visit again soon!

    Sarah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Penelope's place. Very cozy, clean, and well stocked with essentials. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook, dishwasher made it super easy to clean up after wards. As a host, Penelope was welcoming, easy to reach, and super responsive.

    Michael2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Penelope’s place was lovely. A bit hidden, if you drive past the Village Arts of Putney you’ve gone to far. The AirBnb is located below that, on the first floor. The place was super clean, had nice amenities like a fresh quart of milk, cereal, eggs, tea and honey and was in a great location. There was also shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and more! We forgot our toothpaste, and voila there was some there. You are right down the street from a great restaurant The Gleanery, the adorable Putney General Store and a great little diner. A 20 minute drive and you’re in the adorable Brattleboro. You’re in for a bit of a long drive to the mountains if you’re into skiing. It took us just under an hour to get to Stratton. Tip- if your GPS tries to take you to Putney Mountain Road in the winter months, steer clear! This road is unplowed and really not able to be driven on by car or truck. Take East-West road to the covered bridge and you’ll be all good. Penelope was pleasant to interact with, I suggest asking any questions you have prior to your arrival. We had a question about the location of the key prior to leaving for the day and ended up leaving the door unlocked, which was totally cool as you’re in a safe area, we didn’t think twice about it. Penelope confirmed it would be just fine and it was! My husband was washing dishes and chipped one of the bowls, we asked if we could replace it and Penelope was super gracious and cool about it. We felt awful, and she just turned it around and assured us it was fine. Overall lovely place, super clean, I would totally stay here again!

  • This listing was a cozy place to unwind for a few days in Putney. It’s close enough to towns for groceries and restaurants, but far enough away that the only traffic you will see are the chickens and cats that hang out in the yard. I stayed there with a teenage daughter and there was enough space that we could hang out but also not make each other crazy. Overall a great rental.

  • Lovely, quiet, rural. 10–15 from food store. Just as advertised.

  • Kimberly’s apartment is a good place for a romantic getaway. The location was secluded, but easy to find and tranquil- dark and quiet at night, scenic views during the day. We enjoyed walking on the roads around the property and the sound of the train passing. The positives of the apartment were: comfy bed, absorbent towels, and plenty of kitchen equipment! I would recommend the apartment for anyone who is looking for a cozy and relaxing stay in a beautiful part of New England, that is friendly to the budget.

Cozy, light filled guest bedroom with a memory foam bed. Our guests agree: this bed is super comfy! Spacious shared bathroom. This modest, clean and warm home is on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to parks and trails. We're less than 5 minutes from major shopping plazas and Antioch University; about 7 minutes to downtown and Keene State College.
Our guest room is quiet and clean, with hardwood floors and views of green spaces from both windows. Nice sunset views and ample closet space for storage. Blackout drapes provide a restful environment. Please note that if you are especially tall, this may not be the bed for you! It is a double (full) size bed with headboard and footboard.
We're in a suburban neighborhood; vehicle traffic on our street is pretty minimal. Our lot sits between a wooded park and school athletic fields; on weekdays, expect to see morning and afternoon school foot traffic, and sports practices in the afternoons during fall and spring. Weekends and evenings are typically very quiet.

  • Rosalind’s place is beautiful! The apartment was perfect, and we especially loved the luxurious king bed :) Rosalind was great. We would definitely come back!

    Britta2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Rosalind’s barn cabin for a little under a week, and my dog Brewster and I had a great stay filled with hiking and snowboarding, the dog only participating in the former. The cabin is private and the welcoming landscape accompanied the living space. Just as welcoming were Rosalind and Robert and their dogs who greeted with tails wagging. We did a few cool walks. The walk through Newfane town and up to the cemetary, through the stone wall, and around the pond was very scenic, and i’m happy i got to see all of it. We also did a hike in Townshend State Park, along the snowy trail which ran beside the creek. A sight to behold. Just above the state park there is a Jamaican food truck in the parking lot of a glass art gallery. I had some delightful jerk 🐔 there. Stratton is a great mountain resort for 🎿/🏂 and has a superb village and some of Vermont's nicest runs, at least in my somewhat limited experience. Can’t go wrong with this cabin 👌🏻

She welcomed me in a caring way to use her kitchen and dining room. Her dog Jazzy is lovely. Taryn always had the lights on when I came home late. I can't say enough about her great hosting skills. We also had great conversations, and I just felt like I was at my home away from home.

    Joey2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely small room with private half bath (shower across the hall). Taryn is friendly but gives you the space you need.

    Jennifer2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, comfortable, nice ambiance. Taryn is very accommodating.

    Barbara2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very good hospitality and good knowledge about Keene. Great recommendation for breakfast. Friendly dog greets you.

    Vicki2019-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay while visiting Keene. The host, Taryn, is super friendly and outgoing. The wonderful pet dog, Jazz, will be there to greet you. . Easy access to the town and Keene State Campus. The bedroom, although small, was neat and clean and comfortable making me feel right at home.

Welcome to the Tiny Art House! With a covered porch nearly as big as the house itself, there's plenty of room and a pleasing view of white pines and field grasses. It has a sleeping loft with a queen-sized bed and 2 extra twin mattresses. We offer one free one-time spa pass for quests book at least 2 nights (hot tub, salt water pool, gym, sauna, steam room and shower). Additional passes are $15 and do not have to be purchased ahead of time. Please read the full description of the space.
The Tiny Art House has a composting toilet, gas stove and oven, coffee maker, toaster, and simple cooking supplies. Spring water for drinking and light clean up is provided but there is no hot or running water (you can heat water on the gas stove). Tiny Art House is a ten-minute walk from the West River where you can walk or bike the 8 miles of trail along the river. You can take the 45 minute walk on the trail or drive 10 minutes to downtown Brattleboro where you'll find eateries, breweries, a movie theater, bowling, art museum and galleries, local shopping, book stores, hiking trails, and tubing and canoe/kayak rentals. There are also some great swimming spots on the West River.
The Tiny Art House is located two miles from the exit 3 rotary on route I-91. Most of the two miles are dirt roads. There are six other homes on our dead end road (Fox Farm) with lots of fields and woods in between.
  • Had an amazing time here! Ending up going by myself and it was a perfect peaceful retreat to relax, read, and keep things simple. The downtown area is close and has a lot of nice stores and restaurants. Honestly, wasn’t sure how the toilet worked but I managed and the bed was so comfortable!

    Lauren2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful stay! Three people and a dog stayed comfortably. Secluded in nature but close to conveniences.

    Jess2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night at Chuck’s place. Everything was clean, cozy, and easy going, and felt totally comfortable and private despite being on a property so near other homes.

    Amy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fun space. The bed was comfortable and the house was delightfully warm. The stars were gorgeous from the porch.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely getaway for a weekend or more! We enjoyed being close to nature along West River and downtown Brattleboro.

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty good place. If you don’t want a typical motel in the Brattleboro area, this cute and cozy mini cabin will do the trick. It could use a little work on the craftsmanship (walls need extra reinforcing, painting) and the door should be able to be locked from the outside. I’d also add that you should definitely make sure You have a 4WD or AWD car if you’re staying here. The dirt road leading up to it is quite muddy and difficult to navigate if you don’t have a capable car. Other than that I wish there was running water and a fireplace, but since Chuck was upfront about that stuff, this place met my expectations. I don’t recommend this place for someone over 6 feet tall and over 250 pounds.

    Anour2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck provided us with an unforgettable stay; his Tiny Art House is so perfectly cozy and comforting, especially for watching the snow fall on a Winter’s night. The place was warm and inviting upon first entering, and kept it’s homey feel while still feeling like a retreat in the woods. I cannot recommend it enough, and I look forward to coming back and making more memories!

    Kendra2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck's TAH was the greatest answer to our need of a "do nothing and relax" getaway. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and Brattleboro was the best to wander and explore. But don't let the size of this little cabin fool you-- it is well beyond comfortable to just hang around and play cards in! The porch was even wonderful to sit out on while it snowed, wrapped up in a blanket. Our stay was beyond our expectations; we even got to buy some of Chuck's art to take home with us! This is an experience you will not regret, and one we plan on reliving many more times!

Come relax in beautiful Putney. Home is at the end of a road just 1/2 mile from RT5 and 2.5 miles from I 91. The view is magnificent! We are on 46 acres that includes a large 7 acre pond.
Note: if the home is booked for your requested date message me as we have another home and listing on the same property.. Our home is at the end of a road on a hill that has great views. You enter through the mudroom. The first floor has a kitchen, bedroom with a day bed and trundle which is 2 twin beds, a bathroom with a shower, dining room and living room. The second floor has 2 bathrooms and master bedroom with a King bed. We do have a very comfortable Queen Aero bed that can be used in the large Master bedroom or even in the living room. There is a guest house on the property but it is separate from this one so if you need more space please let me know as we can accommodate large groups. A washer and dryer are also available for your use. Air conditioners are in the bedrooms only and second floor deck is not available for use.
The Putney school and Landmark College are close by and Keene State and the town of Keene is 30 minutes away.
  • This is a very special place - a comfortable house on a big property in spectacular surroundings. We especially enjoyed the views and the outside, but also curling up in front of the wood burning stove and sitting at the homey kitchen counter or sprawling on the couch in front of the big windows. My wife and I were here for a weekend of peace, quiet and reflection but there’s also a big TV with plenty of options (Netflix, etc.) if you’re in the mood for a movie or some bingeing. There’s also a well-equipped kitchen if you like to cook in. It’s just 2 miles from the center of Putney, which is very small but has a couple of great restaurants and little shops (e.g. the co-op) for supplies. Two things to be aware of: there is a guest house just across the driveway, so not total privacy (though it was fine and there are beautiful views from the opposite side of the house). Also, as Michele notes in her instructions, there is a long and hilly driveway so if you’re coming in the winter you will want to make sure to have appropriate tires. We loved it all, hope to be back some time.

    Caleb2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The views are spectacular! You can see all of the stars at night. So gorgeous. Well appointed kitchen for making good meals. Big table for having lots of family or friends.

  • Beautiful views and a great kitchen to cook in, with lots of space.

    Greg2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The view is stunning! Michele is incredibly helpful and a great host.

    Amy2019-07-21T00:00:00Z

  • Michele’s Place was absolutely perfect for us. We had a large group for a wedding and it was just what we were looking for. She was very responsive and helpful. And the location was superb!

    Andrew2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, private space with all the amenities of home. Michele was extremely accomodating of our late arrival and had a wood fire awaiting us, despite the hour. Would love to return for a longer stay!

    Tama2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place! I rented this house for the weekend of a friend’s wedding in Putney and shared it with some friends. We were all amazed at first sight. It’s on a gorgeous property and really does have breathtaking views. The house was big enough for all six of us to have some space to ourselves and to sit down for a breakfast or gather on the porch to soak up some sun. Excellent location close to downtown Putney and about 15-20 minutes from downtown Brattleboro. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away or looking to explore all Vermont has to offer.

DUE TO THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS, WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS FOR APRIL AND MAY, 2020. As of March 25, 2020, the State of Vermont has ordered commercial lodging establishments, including short-term rentals, to immediately begin to cease operations due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns.
Come stay in our a renovated log cabin in the woods with beautiful views of river, mountains and stars. Located by the charming village of Williamsville and close to historic Newfane village, only 12 miles from Mount Snow for skiing and snowboarding, right on the Rock River (cool and clear all summer long). The cabin is tastefully modernized by Danish builder, and the open concept kitchen, dining room, and living room with rows of huge, panoramic windows offers amazing views of mountains and front row for leaf peeping. The is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, a family vacation or quality times with dear friends. The 18 acre property is located on the Rock River, at the end of a dirt road. The property offers opportunity for scenic snowshoeing and nordic skiing. We provide six pairs of snow shoes – (bring you own snow boots). The property has about one mile of river front access to the clear and refreshing water of the Rock River. In the summer, private dips in the river are just a short stroll from the house. Additionally, in the center of Williamsville, just 2 minutes drive from the cabin, you'll find one of the best swimming holes in the area. Quiet, peaceful, lovely, romantic... stay for two nights or two weeks.
The Area Wintersports: For some of the best downhill skiing and snowboarding in Vermont, Mount Snow is located 12 miles away (approx. 20 minutes drive), Stratton is 25 miles away (approx. 40 minutes), and Magic Mountain is 27 miles (approx. 45 minutes) away. For Cross-Country skiing, Brattleboro Country Club is 11 miles away, Grafton Trails and Outdoor Center (also offers snowshoeing and mountain biking in the snow) is located 20 miles (approx. 30 minutes) away and Prospect Mountain is 25 miles (approx. 40 minutes) away. Grafton offers guided trails with wine and cheese by outdoors fire pits. Shopping, Dining and Entertainment: In the quaint village of Newfane, just ten minutes away, you'll find a charming, old country store with picnic supplies such as wine and beer, cheese, sandwiches, deli foods, desserts, coffee and muffins. In just 20 minutes, you’ll be in the town of Brattleboro, which offers multiple opportunities for shopping at Hannafords, Price Chopper, Aldi and the Brattleboro Food Co-op with many local and organic whole foods! Brattleboro Main Street is bustling with life and good shopping experiences such as art galleries, jewelry stores, interior design stores, antique furniture and consignment stores, cafes, and restaurants (for both casual and fine dining). You can also enjoy Friday night jazz at the Lounge at Duo's Restaurant, world class acts at the Vermont Jazz Center or a movie at the Latchis Theater. Three minutes drive from the cabin, in the heart of the village, is the sumptuous Williamsville Eatery, popular with both locals and visitors. This charming restaurant serves amazing pizzas from a wood burning oven and gourmet meals in a relaxed, yet beautiful and romantic atmosphere. It's always a good idea to make reservations for dinner here. More restaurants are in in the village of Newfane and the town of Brattleboro. Other places of interests: For children, the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro offers petting zoo, play ground and year-round activities such as family snowshoeing, campfires, Abenaki storytelling, and much more. The puppet theater in Putney, "Sandglass," feels like a step back to a simpler time with top-notch performances. Next door to the Retreat Farm is the Grafton Village Cheese Company's store with cheese tastings galore. A great place for delicious, local cheeses, jams, mustards, and more. In the summer, Olallie Daylily Garden is a beautiful spot for a picnic, pick-your-own blueberries, flowers and a stroll in the woods. In the fall, you can go apple picking at Green Mountain Orchard, Scott's Farm (which appears in the movie The Cider House Rules with Tobey Maguire and Michael Caine) and many other places. This is such a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon. And, if you're lucky, you can also get some home made apple cider donughts :) There are numerous great swimming holes and hiking trails around. We will provide you with a list of our favorites for your convenience.
  • Lasse is a super responsive host, easily reached and eager to answer any questions. The photos are accurate, and the cabin is very clean and well equipped. It was a very simple and comfortable stay among the hills. Looking forward to booking a future weekend.

    Susannah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lasse’s cabin is beautiful, clean, and peaceful. She was easy to communicate with and had great local recommendations for food and activities. We enjoyed cooking dinner in the cabin, which has a really nice kitchen and all of the tools we needed, and made use of the puzzles and board games. We also checked out a local hike and had lunch in nearby Brattleboro. We visited in March, but this place would be great any time of year with the many hiking and snow sports options!

    Meghan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cabin. Booked the trip for a skiing trip to mount snow which is about 20 minutes away. Cabin is in a very remote area, the driveway very steep and dirt so having four wheel drive to get up the road is probably in your best interest. It only has one bathroom though so to sleep 6 people it was a little tight to share that with everyone. Other than that the views were amazing and it was the perfect spot!

    Lauren2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lasse’s cabin is beautiful. No detail left untouched. We had a very relaxing, peaceful stay. Can’t wait to visit again!

    Elizabeth2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Lasse's cabin and once again we had an amazing time. We came up to VT for a weekend of snowboarding at Mount Snow (only 20min away) but decided to spend Saturday lounging around the cabin because it's just that nice. Great views, spectacular property, we can't wait to be back later this year.

    Billy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly beautiful! Pictures can’t even do this place justice. Insanely nice view, modern design and appliances, very quiet and isolated. Breathtaking.

    Andy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lasse’s place is even more spectacular than the pictures. The only downside was we couldn’t stay longer! The cabin itself is incredibly clean, well decorated and has everything you could ever need - from kitchen utensils, to games, puzzles and books. The biggest selling point of this place though is the incredible views over the river that can be seen from virtually every part of the cabin. It’s also well situated to several good restaurants and activities. Lasse went above in beyond in terms of communication and recommendations for our stay. We’ll definitely be returning!

    Emily2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Lasse's beautiful cabin. From the amazing views of the mountains to the spacious, clean kitchen. We had a great time skiing nearby and coming home to the cozy cabin. Thank you for a lovely weekend Lasse!

A clean and safe place while visiting Southern Vermont .A private room on the first floor with 2 twin beds, private bathroom and the availability to use the kitchen to cook your own meals. Very convenient to get to the interstate and nearby towns.
This room is on the first floor of the house right off the entrance. It’s a Southern facing window that allows for beautiful sunlight to stream through. Right outside the door there is a bathroom with a toilet, sink and a shower. We have plenty of shampoo/ conditioner and towels. The bathroom will be used by you only. The room is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. It has its own thermostat. As of this publishing there are 2 twin beds. The trundle pulls out and lifts up so it becomes a regular size twin bed. We provide linens and pillows although many like to bring their own. There is a closet available for your things. You may use our kitchen to store any food and to cook your meals. If I’m home and you like what’s on the menu you are welcome to join us. You are more than welcome to use the TV in the living room. We have cable but not sure about all the extra sports stuff since we don’t watch it. We barely watch TV so you will have the choice to watch whatever you want. The home is situated on a beautiful estate with a 7 acre pond. There’s lots of wildlife, and quiet. We realize people travel here for weddings, reunions, and school visits and just need a clean and safe place to sleep. Nothing fancy but the location can’t be beat. If you have more people please inquire about our additional listings. We are Superhosts. We’d love to share our home with you.
The home is located in Putney Vt. 1.5 miles to town. 2.5 miles to I-91 . 10 min to Brattleboro 25 min to Keene 50 minutes to Mt. Snow 60 min to Okemo
  • Michel was a wonderful host. She met us when we arrived and answered any questions we had, gave us suggestions of where to eat including some places that could accommodate my special dietary needs. Her place was very clean and the views are spectacular on the property!

    Susan2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • In addition to being incredibly beautiful and peaceful, it is close to Putney and Brattleboro, and less than 3 hrs to Logan. Michele went above and beyond to make me feel welcome! I enjoyed my stay immensely.

    Carol2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house is maybe two minutes from a cute town with a great General Store. Coffee and tea in abundance and a great place to fix meals. Everything super clean and comfortable and the fireplace had been lit so as to take the chill out of the rainy afternoon. Michele is a great person, very genuine and helpful and made my stay very comfortable and pleasing. I'll definitely return.

    Juliana2018-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Michele's guest house is spacious and has a beautiful view. I stayed as a single person, but it would be especially great for a family wanting room to have meals and play games together. The grounds are lovely.

    Amy2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michele and her husband were extremely welcoming. Their daughter even offered to share her special tea during our stay...a very nice family, indeed. Their home is on a beautiful piece of land and overlooks a private pond. If you're looking for a comfortable place to stay in Vermont, consider staying with Michele and her lovely family.

One of the oldest homes in West Townshend with loads of charm! Bright, cozy rooms and a private yard with outdoor fire pit. Quiet side street with easy access to the Townshend Lake Trail System. Enjoy nature walks, river exploration, mountain biking, and cross country skiing. Walk to the country store/café for wholesome meals plus seasonal Farmer's Market. Convenient to both Brattleboro and Manchester. Explore Southern Vermont's recreation, dining, shopping and ski resorts
The space is cozy with plenty of natural light and is set up to make your stay as comfortable as possible. New mattresses and beds with quality linens and towels. New washer and dryer for laundry during extended stays. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you want to do your own cooking. There is a toaster oven as well as a traditional electric range and a microwave. Coffee and tea are provided. There have been many recent upgrades to this home, but several features are unique in character including an antique claw foot bath tub (with shower) in the main bathroom. The second bathroom is quite small with an older tub as well plus a hand held shower . As is typical with old Vermont farm houses- people made use of what was availble. The house, with its old time VT character and the village setting will definitely give you a classic small town New England experience!
The neighbors keep to themselves, but friendly. Worden Lane is not a through road so there is very little traffic. A short walk to the end of the road will lead you to the trail system.
  • Tansy’s place was really great. It was quaint in a good way and very spacious with a wonderful country feel to it. It was a very warm place to come home to after a long day of skiing.

    William2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway. Very spacious and well decorated. We were happy to see the kitchen is stocked with essential dishes and pans so we could cook a meal.

  • Tansy was a great host and the cottage was adorable! It was quaint, relaxing and well decorated - we loved it. The outlets were baby proofed which was thoughtful for those with families. The cottage was spacious and the pictures didn’t so justice - much better than expected. Truly got the Vermont winter experience. Would recommend to anyone and come back! Thank you!

    Christina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • We love this little cottage more than we can say, and have now visited both in the summer and winter. This is a great area, the cottage is centrally located, and we couldn’t ask for a better host. We’ll be back!

    Melanie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! Cozy and conveniently located near at ski resorts. Will definitely stay here again!

    Hailey2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is the quintessential VT farm house. Looks like Joanna and Chip Gaines helped with the decorations. We would highly recommend this gem. It is a central location for skiing Bromley, Stratton, and Mt Snow.

    Stephen2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tansy's place was awesome. Very cozy, stylish, and clean place to stay for a ski trip with plenty of room for several people. She's very responsive and gave recommendations for the surrounding area upon request. Provided awesome variety of seasonings to make cooking much easier compared to other hosts I have stayed with in the past. The only thing I would say, and it is not a turn off in the slightest, is that the space upstairs and in the bathroom is not tall friendly. I'm 6'5" and was a little large for the shower as my head was hitting the ceiling.

  • Kathleen's home was everything I was hoping for and more! Her space is intionally currated to be welcoming, cozy, and tranquil. I came to Vermont looking to unwind and spend some time in the mountains. This cabin was the perfect place to do that. From walking around the grounds to local trails, the peace of nature was everywhere. The location was the perfect distance to see the Green Mountains as well as explore several quaint towns. Kathleen gave so many recomendations on where to eat and what to see in the area. It was so nice to have some local insight. I will be staying at Kathleen's again the next time I feel Vermont calling.

  • This place is beautiful and very relaxing. Perfect place to drink your coffee or glass of wine and stare out the huge windows or stand on the deck and observe the nature. Kathleen was very nice and provided great recommendations on places to go in the area. It was also nice to get there after eating dinner and a long time to a fire going for us, thank you! We hope to definitely be back in the future. If you want a place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, I definitely recommend her home!

  • Such a great space, highly recommended to anyone looking for a trip to VT. The cottage was the perfect place to get away from the hectic hustle of daily life- the land, the barn, the view, the nature, the pups, all of it. The cottage itself was beautifully designed/ decorated and every detail was so thoughtfully placed. The reading ‘nook’ by the fire was my favorite spot. Kathleen was welcoming and a fantastic host. I hope to return again this Spring or Summer!

  • This cottage is a dream getaway with nature. From the moment we walked in, we gasped at the beauty and cleanliness. It was stunning, warm and inviting. What stood out to us the most in comparison to other AirBnBs were the numerous unique touches that we discovered throughout our stay. There are hidden gems here. As you slip into peacefulness, be sure to explore and allow your soul to be inspired by everything you see. In addition to being wonderful, it is also in an excellent location for easy travel. Thank you for a wonderful getaway!

    Kenny2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's place was a total dream. We were looking for a relaxing weekend to unplug and connect with nature. Her place has been thoughtfully curated for exactly that. Kathleen greeted us when we arrived and gave a thorough list of excellent recommendations for local places to eat, drink, and hike. We can't recommend her place enough and are already planning our return!

This spacious studio apartment is located in the former Swedish Congregational Church in historic Swedeville, a secluded hilly neighborhood built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800's. For years it housed Rick and Liza’s stained glass studio, which they have now lovingly and creatively transformed into a residence. The rental is minutes from the interstate and one mile from downtown Brattleboro, but the neighborhood has a rural and somewhat European flavor to it.
This 20x20 rental has ten foot high pressed tin ceilings, arched windows, stained glass, a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a twin sized day bed which converts to a king sized bed. The space offers a private subway-tiled bathroom with shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge, induction hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, french press coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea pot, dishes and utensils. We will provide the fixings for coffee and tea for your use and we leave some breakfast foods in the fridge. Note: We do not have a kitchen sink so we will wash your dishes each day if you leave them outside your door each morning in a container we provide. We have a lovely vegetable and flower garden. You can expect to be greeted by roses or peonies or morning glories depending on the season. The October foliage is outstanding in this area and this neighborhood has some strikingly brilliant trees. During the winter when it snows, the neighborhood looks wonderful coated in sparkling white! Please note that there is a long term rental apartment above this space. You may on occasion hear footsteps on the stairs above. Our renter is very responsive and respectful.
Brattleboro has regularly been recognized as one of the best small towns and best art towns in the USA. It is home to galleries and thrift stores, to a great farmers' market and a monthly gallery walk, to a wonderful youth theatre, a jazz center, and a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Swedeville is a couple of blocks from nature trails for hiking or cross country skiing depending on season. There are many areas for swimming and hiking nearby as well. We are 10 minutes from the Marlboro Music Festival and less than an hour away from Mount Snow and only a bit further from other downhill ski areas.
  • this cute little renovated church was such an amazing find! the space was colorful, cozy and very welcoming. we had a lovely stay & will definitely be back in the future :)

  • This was the perfect place for a creative retreat! Liza’s place is beautiful with so many thoughtful details- art, local recommendations, even a box of my favorite tea! Liza and Rick were gracious hosts -quick to answer any of my questions! I loved waking up to views of the garden and forest. With its location in walking distance of downtown and hiking trails, I could not have asked for anything more. I will definitely be back!

We are shutting down our AirBnB for the near future, as part of our home's COVID-19 prevention plan. We are optimistic it will clear up, just not sure when. We are 3 miles from Brattleboro center, near-ish to Mts. Snow, Stratton and Okemo, off of I-91. The Amtrak from Wash DC and NYC stops here. This is an architect-designed "high-performance" contemporary home, on 3 wooded acres, surrounded by forest and pasture. Large windows give eastward views of forests and mountains of New Hampshire.
This private, light-filled lower level apartment in the owner's home includes: - Private entrance that takes you past a lush, terraced garden. - Several picture-window views of the New Hampshire mountains to the east. In morning you can see the sun rise, and in the evening the mountains are basked in warm light. - Bedroom with queen bed, walk-in closet and desk. - New, modern open plan kitchen, with fridge, induction stove top, over-counter microwave, countertop toaster oven and quartz stone counters. - Living area with couch that may be opened to a queen bed, and a smart (internet) TV. - If you want more than one bed: The couch opens up to a queen bed and and we add a 4" mattress topper, which is comfy. We also have a queen size airbed. For either of these, please tell us in advance, so that this is set up for you before you arrive. - Full bathroom. - Direct access to the laundry area, also used by the main house. - High speed gigabit internet. Generally over 200MB download speeds throughout the apartment - Security: This is a low-crime area. Nevertheless, we have a security system in place that makes it safer for everyone, as our AirBnB guests who come from different locations may be less familiar with our area. How this is an Eco house... This "high-performance" home has a low carbon footprint, while being comfortable, appropriate to the surroundings, and well crafted. - The home is all-electric, 50% powered by rooftop solar panels and no fossil fuels are used for heating or indoor cooking. Smoking is not allowed. - Warmth is supplied by radiant floor heating. - We supply some food prep ingredients that we buy in bulk (local), in order to reduce need for guests who want to cook here, who may otherwise buy these packaged items. See House Manual for details that may help you for shopping, if you want to cook here. - We supply reusable shopping bags and vegetable bags. (See House Manual for using these at Brattleboro Food Co-op). - The walls and roof are super-insulated and windows are triple glazed. - Whole house ventilation system brings fresh air into all the rooms. - Hot water heat pump technology. - Kitchen cooktops are induction, which is energy conserving. - Front-loading washer conserves water. - We try to maintain good habits: Being prudent about water use, turning off light bulbs when not in use, and keeping thermostats at 68d or lower. Access to this country home during winter requires a car with snow or all-weather tires to get up the moderately-steep drive.
Brattleboro (occasionally referred to as "the banana belt" of VT) is the hub for a lovely area in southeastern VT. The town is a few degrees warmer than nearby and also very beautiful areas, because of its location on the Connecticut river. We love being here because of the mix of beautiful outdoors, vibrant creative culture, farm and food, independent thinking, and direct democracy in the form of town meeting and Select Board style of government... citizens here get to make a difference in the way their town is governed. Also, there is a little history right near our home. Rudyard Kipling wrote Jungle Book while in his home called Naulahka, 1 mile up our road, after he moved here (for a period) to live with his Vermont-raised wife. The back dirt roads within a 2-3 mile radius of our home are beautiful, and spotted with farms, maple-tapping forests and sugar houses, a cemetery from the 1800s, a wooden covered bridge, and other things that are fun to drive, bike or hike around and see. There are 1-2 short hikes or walks that you can do from our house, without needing a car. Just ask us if you want to know about it. Our AirBnB guidebook lists activities and restaurants that we recommend.

Cozy cabin nestled in the secluded woods along a rushing brook just outside Grafton village. You'll find it in the heart of southern Vermont's ski and hiking country just a short drive to Green Mountain NP. Designed to wrap your soul in flannel sheets, this tiny home has all the charm to allow you to live out your cabin-life fantasies hassle free. Perfect for lovers, bromances, gal pals, cuddle buddies, close friends, and just about any one else who wants to unwind, get close and personal.
This home uses an indoor modern composting toilet and anyone squeamish about it should maybe think twice; though, you'll likely be pleasantly relieved (pun intended). It's not that different so don't fear. The stair is a fun addition, but it's steep and dangerous for infants or toddlers or for those with limited mobility. The cabin is made of fir that's actually harvested and milled directly from the site! If you're allergic to fir, this isn't the place for you; every square inch is fir! This is a very inclusive rental and we especially welcome the LGBT community. I prefer no pets please. If it's nice out, do not miss taking the hammock (hanging inside) down by the brook and relaxing for a while. You'll find the hooks on two trees down beside the stream. If it's dry out, grab some firewood at a roadside stand for a fire in the pit outside. The cabin is homey and cozy but you'll want to be outdoors as much as possible!
Grafton is an incredible Georgian era village that is scenic and well preserved. Shops, galleries, museums, an adorable grocery/deli, the historic Grafton Inn, Phelps Pub, tennis courts, parks, swimming pond, mountain biking, cross country skiing, hiking can all be found in a short walk around the village and an easy walk from the cabin. The Mollie Beattie State Forest and Grafton Trails and Recreation Center are both nearby as well.
  • This house was the perfect size for two to get away from it all for a long weekend and simply enjoy nature and be present. This lovey home was equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen tools to bathroom amenities and warm blankets. We even drove to mount snow a couple times for snowboarding. Thank you!

    Cleopatra2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little retreat spot in the woods but also close to town. Perfect for some solitude for reading, writing or whatever suits you. And just minutes away from the Grafton Outdoor Center and Trails for x-country skiing and snowshoeing.

  • The Owl's Nest is probably the coolest place to plan a staycation in Vermont. If the weather is inclement or you find yourself stuck indoors, this tiny house is packed with a myriad of books, maps and antique artifacts to explore.

    Anton2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot in a cozy VT mountain town. The house was just as described and perfect for a couple nights away for two of us. Clean, plenty of amenities, comfy bed and a tranquil stream outside. Danny was a great host. We’ll be back!

  • The Owl’s Nest cabin is a dream! The pictures are just a glimpse at what wonder this cabin holds. My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was the most wonderful weekend getaway. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The attention to details is fantastic. We came in January with snow on the ground and can’t stop imagining what all seasons here look like. We look forward to coming back!

    Rita2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing remote location to get away, yet less than a mile from town for accessibility. Dinner at the Grafton inn and breakfast at country girl diner (only 15 min drive) are musts!

  • My stay here was fabulous! I'm already looking to see when I can return....that should speak for itself

    Mark2020-01-18T00:00:00Z

  • The old converted barn was beautiful. It is located in peaceful woods right next to hiking trails but still close enough to towns for dining and shopping. It had a great old feel while still feeling perfectly clean.

  • Perfect place for a quiet retreat. Everything works- everything you need is there and it is quiet and peaceful. No need for ear-plugs. Pleasant space that is cozy and comfortable. I was there mostly to rest and recover - the quiet and the great walks just outside the front door made this stay ideal. Brianna was helpful and welcoming.

    Suzanne2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly as described. Incredibly clean and super cozy with some thoughtful touches from the host. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend of skiing and the apartment was truly a snag. Brianna recommended a number of restaurants to us, was very welcoming, and quick with responses to any questions. Highly recommend this spot, I really can’t say enough good things about it!

    Meghan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna has a wonderful place in a peaceful setting. The room is spacious and clean and plenty of extras (blankets, towels, chocolates❤️). I appreciated the thoughtful touch with the homemade granola- delicious. Great Value!

  • Briannas place was just what we needed to get away from the city. It was hard looking for something affordable without compromising comfort and style but we found it at Briannas fabulous barn! The space was clean and well equipped for a family of four and Brianna was super fast at responding to all our inquiries. The location was also close to all we wanted to do and she provided nice little touches like yogurt, granola, chocolate and coffee which we all gobbled up! We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back soon!

We have converted the sauna cabin into a simple retreat at the forest's edge. Nothing fancy, but a fabulous view over the treetops to Canoe Brook below and there are trails that wind through the woods and landscaped gardens of our homestead. You can hear the creek and the barred owls sing in the evening. There's a small woodstove for cool nights and evenings. The Putney School and Green Mountain Orchard are close by as are all of the lovely attractions of the Putney and Brattleboro area.
The cabin is on our property which has flower and vegetable gardens as well as countless trails and walking routes. You can bike the gravel roads, explore the many swimming holes nearby, and visit local farmers markets and orchards. This is rural Vermont living. We have a dog on the property who is friendly. We also run an active artist studio producing paintings and ceramics. The cabin is right next to our house so there will be casual interaction when visiting though we fully respect your privacy. The cabin is small and should really be thought of as a camping experience. There's no kitchen so bringing your own camping gear for meals is essential. There are no sleeping mats or bedding provided. You must bring your own sleeping pads and sleeping bags/bedding. There is no running water, however there will be a large water dispenser in the cabin filled with fresh water for your stay. There is an outhouse, but no shower or full bathroom. Think, simple.
We are the first driveway after the asphalt ends. Rural roads meandering past farms and old stone walls, the perfect routes for checking out the fall colors are right out the door. The Putney School trails for skiing and hiking literally begin at the door of this cabin. You can go for miles of trails here, or nearby is Putney Mountain and the Pinnacle--local favorites that offer even more opportunity to explore this magic landscape. And Putney as a village provides so much in the form of arts, theater, farmers markets, orchards, and great people.
  • This is a sweet little rustic cabin to camp in for a weekend of hiking, trail running or just being quiet and unplugged. The location is quiet and an ideal distance to the quaint town of Putney. There are extensive trails right out the back door and a beautiful brook below the cabin. If you are a camper this is a real treat in the colder months with a woodstove and big windows overlooking a beautiful forest. Aaron was accommodating and kind. A great find!

    Amy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Putney is stunning in the fall! The Cabin Retreat was truly memorable. The location is incredible - cute, rustic cabin made comfy in the autumn chill by a wood stove; hiking literally out the back steps and loads of places to hike around the area; the aesthetic of the cabin grounds is truly lovely. Aaron was welcoming (so was Thistle!), quick to respond, and helpful with suggestions about places to go & things to do.

    Maggie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such an adorable cozy cabin, and Aaron was an outstanding host. He had recommendations for hiking, food, and activities; the cabin was clean and supplied with fresh water, and he had an extra sleeping bag when my boyfriend forgot his. Loved it!

    Camelia2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best camping AirBnb’s I’ve ever stayed in! Aaron and his wife are so friendly and welcome. They met us at check in and told us all about the trails behind the tiny house as well as great swimming holes and hikes in the area. They provided drinking water and electricity which was exactly what we needed. Will definitely stay again if I get the opportunity!

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Thistle gave us a lovely welcome greeting as we arrived around sunset. Beautiful, creative and inviting touches in a sweet natural setting. Lovely, lovely. The tiny cabin didn't feel too small because of the nice size windows that invited in the woodsy surroundings. A string of lights were on to say "Come on in!" We completely enjoyed our stay, took a few hikes, refreshed ourselves in the creek and slept well listening to crickets and owls at night, distant roosters in the morning. Aaron helped us get familiar with the area and was easy and enjoyable to talk to as well. This is a fun and peaceful way to take a break and enjoy the natural world without setting up a tent, hassling with bugs or dirt. A wonderful experience all around. Highly recommend a stay. A great value! Donna

✓ Two Beds: One Queen and One Futon. ✓ Bedroom has Adjoining Sitting Room. ✓ Wifi and Smart TV with Local Channels. ✓ Complimentary Water, Tea and Coffee. ✓ Bathroom Includes Shampoo and Soap ✓ Two Block walk to Downtown Keene You will be staying in one of the oldest homes in Keene. The Aaron Seaman House was built in 1804 and maintains much of it's antique Colonial Charm. We welcome travelers from all walks of life and consider hosting a privilege.
Your rooms include a bedroom with a queen bed with 100% cotton linens and an adjoining sitting room with a futon that can be used as a double bed. There is a door in between the rooms so if one person wants to sleep, while the other stays up to read or watch some TV, this gives added privacy. Your rooms also include a ✓ mini-fridge and ✓ coffee / tea set up ✓ and bottled water. Your bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in the 42" x 36" stand-up shower. Please note the decorative shower door has an opening of 18" wide. We only use 100% cotton towels / wash clothes. The Aaron Seaman House is over 200 years old and retains many of its antique charms such as wide wooden board floors, stained glass over the entryway, and classic crown molding around the downstairs doorways. Being over 200 years old, it also has the typical quirks of a house this age. The walls are original plaster / horse hair and the floors have settled throughout the years. Back in the day, homes were made for much shorter people, so for our taller guests, keep that in mind as you enter the rooms! In addition to your private rooms and bathroom, there is also a sitting area at the top of the hall, beside your bedroom. It’s another area that you are welcome to use.
Keene is a quaint New England town with an "up and coming" foodie and art scene. You will be two blocks from downtown Keene / Head of the Square with easy walk to Keene's many local shops, cafes, restaurants as well as Keene State College. Enjoy the free walking tour of the Wall Dog Historical Murals scattered around the downtown. There are also walking bicycle trails nearby too. We are an easy drive to many lakes, hiking and ski areas, including the famous Mt. Monadnock. Spofford Lake, Surry Dam, Island Pond and Warren Lake are some local favorite swimming and kayaking spots. 15 minutes North is beautiful Walpole, NH with Burdick's Chocolate Shop and European Restaurant, as well as the stunning Walpole Mountain View Winery. A 20 – 25 minute drive West will take you to Brattleboro VT, a funky, fun classic VT spot. The Marina Restaurant and Whetstone Brewery's rooftop Beer Garden both overlook the Connecticut River. We love visiting the Grafton Cheese shop and Saxton River Distillery in Brattleboro. Many ski areas are in easy driving distance: Granite Gorge, Crotched Mountain, Mt. Sunapee, Mt. Snow, Pat’s Peak and more!
  • This place is a true Gem. My wife and I were fortunate as a cancellation opened up the rental during exactly the time we needed. Bonnie is a very thoughtful host, and the rooms are very comfortable and welcoming. A very special experience for us! Would highly recommend.

  • Bonnie and Abe are sweethearts! Their space is sparkling clean and has thoughtful touches everywhere! She went the extra mile; buying some chocolate covered strawberries for my wife's birthday which coincided with our stay! They were available but always gave us space and privacy. Matter of fact it was as though the space was in another house altogether. The space is thoughtfully furnished! Bed is incredibly comfortable. Area has a small but tasteful living room with pull out couch and tv and such. Bathroom is spotless and furnished with everything a guest would need. The house is easy to find and a walking/short driving distance from restaurants and entertainment. If ever in Keene again, I know where I'll stay. My wife and I both loved it!

  • This AirBNB was amazing! The decor was lovely with authentic charm and complimenting colors. It was very clean and well maintained. There communication before and during our stay was exceptional. The extra amenities such as bottled water, Keurig coffee/tea, mini fridge and bathroom toiletries were thoughtfully provided. They even provided bathrobes, cloth slippers and eye masks, for lounging or relaxing. The electric mini fireplace provided a cozy New England feel to the room. We especially enjoyed the separate/adjoining sitting area. We look forward to staying again!

Our place is situated on a plateau above West River with access to an 8-mile bike path, hiking trails, idyllic river swimming and cross country skiing. We're two miles to grocery stores and gas stations and 4 miles to charming downtown Brattleboro. You’ll love our place because of the beautiful land, gardens, pottery studio, and gallery. Our place is good for couples, soloists, families with kids, and furry friends (dogs must be on a leash when on the property).
The space is attached to our 270 year-old farm house but it has its own entrance. It consists of an entrance hallway, a sitting area, bathroom with stand-up shower and kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, and an electric kettle for making coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It has a small staircase leading up to a large sleeping loft with the capacity to sleep up to 5. Fresh linens and towels provided. Air conditioning is available if you like. Children and friendly dogs on leashes are more than welcome!
Our place is at the end of a 1/2-mile long dirt road with 6 houses on it. We are located on a stunning plateau above the West River...a 10-minute walk and you're close to several fabulous swimming holes. You can also hike or bike the 8-mile long trail that runs along the river. If you want to can walk to the Marina restaurant and eat dinner with a gorgeous view of the Retreat Meadows and the evening sunset.
  • Beautiful spot tucked away in the woods for a peaceful getaway. Would highly recommend!

  • This place is perfect! My friends and I were looking for an affordable place near Mount Snow so we could enjoy a long weekend snowboarding. This was close enough to the mountain that we could easily drive back and forth, it was in a beautiful secluded area which made it easy for resting after a long day, and the layout is super cool! It was everything we could’ve possibly wanted. Chuck left us some awesome local recommendations and was very responsive to all of our messages and requests. Next time we’re in town we will absolutely be staying at Chuck’s!!!

    Matt2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was extremely cute and spacious yet cozy. Heating worked great and Chuck was very responsive. Nestled in the woods, but very close to Brattleboro. Loved this place!

  • Excellent value and location. Hosts are very available, provide good communication and take great care of their studio. They'll give you as much privacy as you want, but are also happy to chat and provide advice, if useful. Definitely recommend.

This custom build apartment is located just 10 minutes from I91. In the winter you are 30 minutes away from some of the best skiing around. Located on 85 private acres with great views this is the perfect winter get away. In the summer you can relax by the firepit, hike in the woods, work in the gardens (just kidding), collect breakfast from the chickens or visit some of the local breweries. We are as close or as far away as you would like us to be with our house right next door.
  • This was just the quick getaway I needed! The place is so quaint and cute, and the hosts are super welcoming and hospitable. We all had a great time watching the chickens and cats, as well as walking around the property!

  • This place was flat out amazing! Bethany was very responsive and helpful with any questions we had, especially before we checked in. The space was spotless and had a bunch of small things that made it feel like home.

    Alfred2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Bethany was a great host with amazing personal touches like fresh eggs and milk.

    Marian2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful apartment with a country cabin feel. A great view from the back and a welcoming host. My wife and I had a relaxing stay and would recommend this to anyone going to stay in the area.

  • Great place!!

    Dominic2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome private apartment with a quick 30 minute drive to Okemo Mountain!

    Jordan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We chose this barn apartment for a ski weekend at Okemo Mountain. The pictures do not do the space justice at all. The drive up to the barn is beautiful in itself. The space is gorgeous, and the details provided by the host (farm fresh eggs! Hershey’s kisses! Coffee! A stocked medicine cabinet with toiletries!) were thoughtful and adorable. The barn is located a short drive to the mountain and the town of Chester has a couple of cute spots to eat (we loved Heritage Cafe for a pre-ski breakfast and coffee). Extra blankets and a postcard view....we loved it so much that we canceled our Airbnb for Burlington next month and rebooked with them for another ski weekend at Okemo next month.

  • Bethany’s property was absolutely beautiful. Tucked away up on the hill, it was a perfect escape but still close enough to everything you need. Although the snow made it a little tough to get up the driveway, she was super helpful in assisting our way in. The barn loft was very cozy, very clean and a very welcoming feel. There were all the amenities we needed to feel right at home. Communication was great start to finish. Loved the stay here and will absolutely be back to enjoy the warmer weather and explore all the private property! Thanks Bethany!

  • Warm cozy bed. Wonderful pan to make scrambled eggs in. Full size fridge❤️Good pressure in the shower.

  • I stayed with Michael for a month. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed, a tv, and a small couch. There is a full kitchen with everything you need for meal preparation. Michael was very respectful of my privacy, and responded to my messages very quickly. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to walk to Central Square and down Main Street where there are great restaurants, cute cafes, and specialty stores. I enjoyed my stay with him and would definitely stay with him again.

    Liane2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything here is exactly as advertised. Space was VERY clean and well appointed. Absolutely perfect size for a quick stay of up to 2 people. I would not stay here with any sort of larger group. Check in was easy and the place had everything I needed for a two night stay. Just a few blocks away from restaurants, shopping etc.

    Paul2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's apartment is great for a weekend or short stay: walking distance to town, modest-sized kitchen and super clean. We had a problem with the heat and Michael responded to our text in less than 5 minutes and immediately resolved the issue. Only caveat is that there are steep stairs leading up to the apartment, so if mobility is an issue for your or someone in your party, this would not be a good choice. But otherwise, this is a superb value.

    Joanne2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is cozy, cute, and was a great choice for my one night stay in Keene. The radiator does get very loud sometimes, but with my white noise machine I brought, my boyfriend and I were able to sleep just fine. The apartment had everything we needed to have a very comfortable stay. Overall, I would definitely recommended this place!

    Beth2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, great location...exceptional host!

    Bryan2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, comfortable and charming. I do a lot of cooking and the kitchen had everything I needed, including a good set of knives! Great place to stay in Keene.

  • Robert's room was part of an apartment that happened to be empty while I was staying, so I had the place to myself! He respected my privacy, even though I was simply renting a room in the apartment. The kitchen, living room and bathroom were all marvelously appointed with all amenities that I could imagine wanting. Charming decor - super comfortable and spotlessly clean. It felt like a great luxury to be there!
