Cottage in Los Angeles
Private Modern Guesthouse near Mulholland Drive
A free standing 500 sq/ft 1 bedroom rustic Spanish split level guest house with private entrance, manicured terraced landscaping and a spacious light filled interior with all the modern amenities. The open plan living space contains a fully equipped efficiency kitchen with chef's range, stainless steel under-counter refrigerator, marble countertops, imported tile, and a contemporary living area with convertible sleeping sofa for additional accommodation, eating/working island, and entertainment center containing 33" tv with DirecTV, Netflix, and high speed wifi. The lower split level contains a custom tiled bathroom with heated floors, large shower, and a floor to ceiling mirror. A separate bedroom area with large closet and deluxe queen size mattress provides additional comfort and privacy from the main living area. The guest house has central heating and air conditioning for desired temperature comfort. Fresh towels, linen and bedding is provided, and new and vintage furnishings, original artwork, books and objects have been selected by the architect/owner for guest's enjoyment. Non metered City street parking is almost always available directly in front of the guest house. Complimentary Peet's coffee, a selection of teas, and bottled filtered and mineral water are provided by the host for guest's enjoyment. Guests have direct access to the guest house through the front garden gate and up a small flight of stairs. Host will provide guests with keys upon arrival. Guests enter and exit the guest house through a private entrance. Flanking the staircase is a small outdoor area with seating for guest's private use. After initial meeting and key exchange with host, the guest house is all yours for your enjoyment. Hosts live in the main house behind the guest house and you are more than welcome to say hello or to contact us if you have any questions or need anything for your stay. Laurel Canyon offers dynamic city life and bohemian rural charm, just a short drive from art institutions, studios, restaurants, and nightlife. Get out in the fresh air on Hollywood Hills hiking trails and enjoy panoramic views of the entire city. A local bus stop is just around the corner, but this being LA, a car is recommended. Uber and Lyft are popular taxi alternatives and are available at the guest house within minutes. While we are confident you'll find staying at our accommodations relaxing and utterly enjoyable, we must confess this is not a tucked-away bucolic country cottage, but a private contemporary urban experience situated between LA's dynamic city life and its bohemian rural charms on Laurel Canyon Blvd. Although we constructed the guest cottage with double thick insulated walls and double pained windows to mediate exterior temperature and noise, the cottage faces the boulevard and intermittent traffic noise might be of concern to some sound sensitive guests.

Guesthouse in Los Angeles
Casa Carmona, a Mid-City Garden Oasis near Museums
Casa Carmona is a little oasis in the big city. It's convenient to just about anywhere you would want to visit while in Los Angeles. Private entrance allows you to come and go as you please. Very diverse selection of restaurants and there is a 7-11 as well as a small grocery store (that delivers) less than a block away if you would rather eat in. Laundromat and dry cleaners are one block away which is helpful for longer stays. Street parking is available. Convenient to public transportation. Full access to the guest house and the backyard area including lounge chairs and dining table. I live in the adjacent house so am able to offer help during guest's stay. I love meeting my guests from all over the world but respect your privacy and comfort! Casa Carmona sits behind a charming Spanish house in Wilshire Vista, a neighborhood created in the 1920s. This is a diverse and safe area, within walking distance of Museum Row and the Grove. Plenty of free parking is available. Approximately half my guests rent a car and there is unrestricted street parking available except for street cleaning on Tuesday afternoons. The other half of my guests rely on Uber and Lyft which are always available within minutes. There is plentiful public transportation within walking distance. One bus stop is less than a block away on one major street and another the opposite direction a block and a half from the house. There is also a Zip Car location less than a block away. The main bed is full size. The pullout sofa is twin bed. There is a small fridge/freezer, microwave oven, 2 burner electric cooktop, and George Forman grill for cooking. Also have a Keurig for coffee and electric tea kettle and assortment of teas. There is a end table that is gate-leg so can be used for in-room dining. Folding chairs in closet as well as extra folding table in closet. Hair dryer in bathroom. Plenty of closet space. Two luggage racks. Iron is provided. I also provide a beach blanket, tote and towels for excursions to the beach. For relaxation time at the Casa there are plentiful entertainment options including Amazon Echo, TV with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, many movies, PlayStation and several board games with even more available upon request!

Your guide to West Hollywood

All About West Hollywood

Palm trees line the bustling streets and the iconic Hollywood sign looms large on Mount Lee, overlooking this trendy city in Los Angeles County. Though less than two square miles in size, West Hollywood — known locally as WeHo — plays a leading role in America’s cultural imagination. The pioneers of motion picture-making chose to live in West Hollywood for its proximity to the film studios, and its famed Sunset Strip has been home to everything from gangsters to celebrity sightings.

Today, West Hollywood lays claim to some of the best cultural institutions on the West Coast, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), La Brea Tar Pits, and the Hollywood Bowl, whose vaunted bandshell has been cradling performers for 100 years. WeHo attracts artists and creatives of every stripe, ensuring that you’ll never run out of on-trend restaurants, fashion boutiques, galleries, cocktail bars, and comedy clubs to explore. And should you need a break from all the coolness, there are plenty of green spaces and urban hikes to escape to.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in West Hollywood

Southern California is known for its consistently sunny and warm weather, with mild temperatures for most of the year. For this reason, there’s really no bad time to book your vacation rental in West Hollywood. But perhaps the best time is in spring when it’s not too hot, and flowers are blooming all over the city. Summers generally remain temperate, though there can be a chance of high heat. There is always something going on in LA, but one event especially worth visiting during is the Los Angeles Westside Food & Wine Summer Festival in August, when you’ll be able to sample culinary delights from some of the best chefs in the region. Fall and winter are never too cold, and you will be able to enjoy the outdoors no matter when you visit.

Top things to do in West Hollywood

The Hollywood Bowl

Since its opening in 1922, the Hollywood Bowl has been one of the most-loved music venues in the country. Nestled in the Hollywood Hills, it has hosted the biggest names in rock, jazz, and classical music. The Bowl’s iconic concentric-arched bandshell was renovated in 2000, bringing it up to modern standards. It’s well worth arranging tickets in advance to enjoy the experience of an outdoor concert in this glorious venue.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

The crown jewel in LA’s art scene, LACMA is a fantastic place to spend a few hours. You can see the permanent exhibitions as well as special, rotating displays. There are several choices for dining on the premises, from quick grab-and-go options to a gourmet farm-to-table restaurant. There are also interactive activities for kids and an outdoor sculpture garden to explore.

Runyon Canyon

A hike up this canyon provides both a great workout and some of the best views across Los Angeles to Catalina Island and of the Hollywood sign. There are several trails up the canyon of varying difficulty levels, but the total hike is about 3.5 miles roundtrip. It does get busy, but if you’re lucky, you may spot a celebrity.
