  • Thank you for this wonderful stay in this magnificent house!

    Diane2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place with an even better view. We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend at Gunnars place and the view from the hot tub was amazing. Highly recommended.

    Snorri2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is even more beautiful than in the photos. We (4 adults) felt right at home there. The view over the fjord to Akureyri is magnificent and there are also nice excursions in winter - we were even lucky enough to see the northern lights from the living room through the large panoramic windows ..! But the icing on the cake is the generously dimensioned "hot pot": a private "wellness oasis" right in front of the house! Those who are not afraid of the long journey in the north of Iceland are in good hands with Gunnar. We didn't get to know him personally, but communication by email was quick and easy (including self check-in). I can absolutely recommend this place!

    Astrid2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gunnar's place is absolutely stunning. It has great views over Akureyri and is nice and close to go into the town. We visited in January, it was very snowy and Gunnar's place is lovely and warm. We also cooked a few nights, the kitchen had all the basic implements that you would need. We can't wait to come back and visit!

    Katherine2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. I think that pretty much sums up our experience. What a beautiful place, in a beautiful location. Gunnar was so helpful and very responsive to our questions! Thanks again for an amazing stay.

    Tom2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • The location is absolutely perfect and has spectacular views. There’s plenty of space for 5/6 people to stay/sleep and not be on top of one another and there’s a ton of outdoor living space as well. I will definitely stay here again.

    Brian2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our plans were a bit askew due to a winter storm but Gunnar helped us navigate a safe driving time and was very flexible on the days. We will be back in summer!

FREE WIFI The location is in a beautiful nature reserve, close to the Reykjavik city center (20 min), the Blue Lagoon (40 min), the Golden Circle, Ishestar, a horse riding, Krisuvík, geothermal area and many more. Ideally located for exploring the South West.
Cozy comfortable and bright. It is very suitable for a couple or families, 2 adult + 2 children. There is two connected bedrooms. One room with double bed, 160 cm width, and another room with bunk bed, the lower bed is 140 cm width. There is only one door to the sleeping area but it is separated with a wall. The kitchen is part of the living room which is open.
Calm and peaceful situated in a wonderful nature reserve, beautiful moss lava field, and wildflower all around. The best air and tap water in the world according to research! The airport is only 35 km away, about 35 min drive. Reykjavik center 15-20 min drive. Excellently located for an excursion to main touristic attraction in the south and southwest of Iceland. Many great heated swimming pools with jacuzzi and hot tube within 10 min driving.
  • A wonderful chalet surrounded by nature, very clean. Thanks to Kathrina for her responsiveness.

  • We had a lovely stay here. We were able to see the lights from the porch and the area was beautiful. The location was close to the city and blue lagoon yet far enough away we were able to enjoy the nature. Thanks for having us!

    Abby2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay a lot. The cabin is a very cosy and warm place to spend your evenings after exploring Iceland. Location is very convenient, you can easily make multiple day trips to see the south. Katrin prepared a lot of local tips and suggestion for her guests and made sure that we know how to reach our stay safely (we visited in the winter time)! Very nice experience.

  • A beautiful little cabin in a great location. It's tucked away and quiet though not too far from the local town and the main routes into Reykjavik, the airport and all of the well-known sightseeing destinations. We had snowy days and a clear night here where we saw the northern lights from the cabin!

Welcome to our home. We wish to offer you an unforgettable and comfortable place to stay in Reykjavik. Private and clean as a hotel, but with the homely and elegant charm of a family home, a 1930's funkis style townhouse in 101 Reykjavik.
We are a boutique guesthouse with five rooms - en-suite bathroom, with fluffy duvets and handpicked style, where guests are considered friends of the family.
We are located in downtown Reykjavik, in a calm and quiet part of the embassy neighborhood Þingholt (Thingholt), just minutes from the lake of Tjörnin. The famous Hallgrímskirkja church on the very top of Reykjavik is a five minute walk away and three minutes later, you will reach the stylish Laugavegur, the main shopping street downtown.
  • Nice location not far by walk from the historic center. The rooms were really nicely decorated, and the spa is really nice. I recommend!

    Caroline2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. We booked this Airbnb last minute and we received a quick response. There's a lot of parking spaces. The rooms are spacious and clean. The jacuzzi and sauna is definitely a great feature. It is close to the city and highway. We were able to see the Northern Lights ten minutes away at the Grotta Lighthouse. Would definitely recommend.

  • Simple accommodations for when you just need a place to crash after a day of tours, and right across the street from the main bus terminal which makes tours and airport shuttles very easy.

    Justin2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing accommodation in a fantastic location, really easy to get about, Hourour & Nina were really helpful. We would hopefully like to stay here again when we come back to Iceland.

    Owen2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, friendly and informative hosts, good location.. and the spa/jacuzzi made our stay unforgettable. I would recommend Hörður / Nina´s place to anyone visiting Iceland.

  • Perfect location within walking distance of the BSI bus terminal and on the edge of downtown Reykjavik. The hot tub and jacuzzi on the roof make this place stand out, but the rooms were also fantastic - very comfortable beds.

  • Nice location , nice host ! I was very comfortable thx !

  • We had a brief one night stay in this private room with shower. It was a clean and pleasant room, and was a perfect location for us as we were catching a bus from the BSI station (just opposite) early the next morning. We didn’t end up using the hot tub as we were exhausted from our tour, but this is a nice touch. It was warm and quiet.

    Reykjavik, Capital Region, Iceland

Located in West Iceland, 130 km (80 mi) from Reykjavik on a mountain hill, 200m. (660ft) above sea level. 600 acres that belongs to Kolsstaðir.
Kolsstaðir is located in a remote & unspoiled natural setting in the mountains of west Iceland. Part of the year, depending on the season, you have animals as neighbors such as sheep (June-October), horses (June-December) and occasionally the arctic fox (all year round). Kolsstaðir is Ideal for hiking, meditating, outdoor- and artistic activities as well as observing the Northern lights when they are visible (October-April). Hiking trails can be found just steps away from the cottage, which are hundreds of year old sheep trails in all directions for your private encounter. The view is broad; out to the ocean, towards the surrounding mountains and into the valleys. It takes around 15 minutes to drive to Buðardalur, a small village where you can shop most necessities at the grocery store, pharmacy and liquor store, find some local restaurants and a handicraft store. At Laugar, Sælingsdal (30 km/20 mi) you'll find a natural pool (tub), open 24h, free of charge. (see photos). There is also a geothermal swimming pool with a hot tub around the corner from the natural pool that costs about 900 kr per person, hours vary depending on the season. The cottage is designed in the old Icelandic country style, but with a modern wood stove and a well equipped modern kitchen. The ground floor 30 (square m.) is a single space with a sleeping sofa. Upstairs there is a 20 square m. sleeping attic with 2 beds. (One Queen Size and one single). Please do not arrive before 15:00. (3:00 p.m.) without asking as we often need the time between 12 and 3 to prepare the house. Check out is 12:00. A 4WD vehicle is necessary to get to Kolsstaðir during the winter. There is a dirt road from the main road up the hill to the cottage. It is cleared regularly with help from the neighboring farmer but it is advisable that during the winter you leave your car at the bottom of the hill and bring your luggage up with you incase of your vehicle being snowed in. Driving in Iceland during the winter requires a 4wd. as well as studded tires. (From november - april). We recommend a visit to the nearby fjords for bird watching and occasional seal. A Tour around Snæfellsnes peninsula, to the westfjords as well as west Iceland inland valleys like the Langjokull glacier, Husafell, Krauma spa and Hraunfossar/barnafoss waterfalls. Some sightseeing can be done when driving to or from or towards Kolsstaðir from Reykjavik. Good Paved roads most of the way. (Road 1) except for 3km (2 miles) of gravel road. Consider driving Whalefjord instead of taking the tunnel for a more scenic 45 min longer drive).
In the summer when arriving from Keflavik/Reykjavik, consider taking the higland Road through Kaldidalur from Thingvellir to Husafell. visit the magnificent Hraunfossar waterfall and then drive to Kolsstadir.

This Unique Summer House was finished in 2010. This location is in one of the best vacation areas in the country. It is in the middle of the famous Golden Circle Route. The house was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field. It is a beautiful little gem within a great area of the country. 10 minutes to Geysir 20 minutes to Gullfoss 20 minutes to Skalholt 30 minutes to Kerid 40 minutes to Thingvellir
This unique property was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field. The property is also very green and sustainable. The house is kept warm by geothermal water that runs through pipes in the floor keeping it warm and comfortable year-round. For those extremely cold days in the winter, we also have additional heaters that can be placed in the sleeping area and living room to further heat the house. All warm water in the house comes from a local geothermal hot-spring and the cold water is natural cold spring water from a nearby well. The electricity in the house is generated by geothermal energy from a nearby power-station. Please note that we do not have a landline at the house so we cannot offer WiFi included in our rates. We can have a WiFi box delivered to the house but it will be at a surcharge as it is owned by a third party. The house has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds as well as 1 small bedroom for a single child or possibly an adult that is under 5.5 ft or 165 cm. Upstairs there is a space which sleeps 2-3 sleeping bags. We have a queen size air-mattress that can be used upstairs. The house also has a washer and dryer as well as a full kitchen with dishwasher/stove/oven. The property is quite spacious and has a small children playground in the back. From mid-August the property has crow berries and wild blueberries growing all around the cottage. Laugarvatn is 15 minutes drive (Fontana Spa, Lindin Restaurant, N1 Gas Station and a small grocery store). Geysir is 10 minutes away (Geysir, Strokkur, Geothermal area, Geysir Center, Camping ground, Souvenir Shop). Gullfoss is 25 minutes away. Þingvellir (Parliament Plains) is 40 minutes away. Skalholt is 25 minutes away. Kerid is 30 minutes away. Service Center with a small grocery store, pool, restaurant, camping ground, mini-golf, 9-hole golf course, horseback riding and much more is 2 minutes away. This is a unique property for travelers wanting to have a one of a kind vacation.
The house is in Uthlid, Iceland which is considered to be one of the best areas on the Golden Circle.
  • Beautiful cabin off the beaten path. We witnessed the northern lights and some great hotsprings. We received 3 feet of snow one night and Palmi had the local farmer come dig us out. It would be hard to describe how great These people are! I can’t wait to return to Laugarvatn

    Shawn2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Initially attracted by the unusual design of the cottage and its location, we were certainly not disappointed in reality. The cottage proved an excellent location from which we (two couples in early/mid 60s) based our exploration of the Golden Circle and bits of Southern Iceland. A spacious, light, and bright kitchen/diner/sitting room with great views over surrounding countryside particularly as it was covered in snow throughout our visit. An extremely well-equipped kitchen made cooking and eating in a pleasure (a substantial supermarket (Kronan) in Selfoss provided absolutely everything we needed including excellent meat, fish, and fresh produce). This space combined with great insulation/heating, comfortable bedrooms with excellent storage, and a good sized bathroom with shower made for very easy living. The weather during our stay included cloud, rain, snow, cold, wind, occasional sunshine, and a full moon - not ideal conditions for either viewing the Aurora or for lounging in the hot tub. However, the mixed weather did not detract in any way from our visiting and appreciating all the wonderful natural sights that this area of Iceland has to offer. The location is excellent being within the Golden Circle and with the South Coast and Reykjavik within easy driving distance (approx 2 hours depending on road conditions). A few words of advice/caution - a good 4x4 vehicle should be regarded as essential for visits to the Golden Circle, South Coast, and Thingvellir National Park areas at this time of year. We rented a Toyota Land Cruiser which proved to be the perfect vehicle - big, comfortable, well equipped, and very capable in all the weather conditions that were thrown at us. Not cheap to rent but well worth the investment. Palmi proved to be the perfect host. Despite his being in three geographic locations (USA, Portugal, and Norway) during our visit, he was always contactable and responsive via mobile, text, or WhatsApp whenever required irrespective of time zone differences. Upon arrival a telephone call was received from Palmi welcoming us all to his cottage as guests of his family and wishing to ensure that we had the best time possible during our stay. All in all a great cottage and location resulting in an excellent visit with many happy memories - thoroughly recommended.

  • Palmi is a great host! He provided lots of thorough information about the house and getting around. It’s a unique space in a secluded neighborhood with beautiful views and all of your basic amenities. We felt very much at home during our week there and plan to return the next time we find ourselves in Iceland.

    Lauren2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cool house, near lots great things to see, with a hot tub, and Palmi was an attentive host!

    Therese2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We (2 adults and a toddler) feel so lucky to have come across Palmi's house - great space, everything you need and so incredibly well positioned for exploring all that the golden circle has to offer! Thanks to Palmi and Vala for all of their help in the run up to (and during) our stay.

    Joff2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for exploring the golden circle and beyond . Makes a huge difference being able to explore the sights at your own leisure instead of on a tour bus . The house is unique in a cute and quiet community . Definitely need a car to get around , but a great place . We were even able to see the northern lights most nights that we were there ! Palmi is an excellent host and extremely accommodating . Highly recommend !

    Elizabeth2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is spectacular! Highest recommendation possible. We stayed with our three children: 12, 8, and 18 months and it was a true home away from home. Toys and playroom, high chair, crib, slide and swings, washer/dryer, dishwasher, children’s dishes.... these touches made it so easy with a toddler! We had unbelievable aurora views from the hot tub and glass pyramid loft every night. Palmi is the most THOROUGH host I’ve ever encountered!

The studio is in the basement on a separate and private part of a four floor building. The house is in front of a primary school which I love because it is so alive when the children go out to play. The school started at 08:30 and you might hear the bell ringing and children and parents coming to school. Free public parking across the street.
New 30m2 Studio Apartment for 2 people. Designed by Italian architects 2015. very comfortable bed, computer, and high-speed wireless internet, fully equipped kitchen, heat in the floors, very nice shower with high water pressure and enough hot water.
This is a university area and very well located. We have being in this neighborhood since I came to Iceland and we have so many friends here that it is like living in a small town. Our daughter's school is just across the road and the next sport club just 5 min by walk. Swimming pool, supermarkets, library, museums, good schools, university. We love to leave in this place.
  • The Apartament was realy tidy and near to the City. It was a awsome stay in reykjavik.

  • Maria was a fantastic host from the outset, providing me with loads of information about great local places to eat, things to do, and general useful information for my stay in Iceland. Maria's place was sparkling clean, well layed out and had all the amenities you would expect. The studio is large and well located with a short walk to several bars and restaurants. It was also well located to my chosen car hire company. I would happily stay again. Thanks :)

    Megan2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Place was very nice and clean. Kitchen was very good and had a nice system to reduce food waste which I appreciated. Some of the guests were inconsiderate in night and morning but that was not the Airbnb fault! Wish I would have noticed they had ear plays earlier. 😂

  • A perfect location for exploring Iceland. I loved the little wooden pod and all the local amenities. Thank you and would definitely recommend!

  • Everything was great, for the food you have to pay extra but it‘s totally worth it!

    Sina2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent location! These mini cabins are really cozy and the hot spring hot tub is great! The food was very good as well. Unbeatable value for money for Iceland

  • Steinar's pods were so lovely. We were extremely exhausted after a big day of travel and these camping pods were the perfect space to get cosy. So cosy, in fact, that we didn't want to get back on the road! 10/10, would recommend and stay again. Thanks, Steinar!

    Dylan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in one of the camping pods and we loved it! It was very warm inside and we have had two more heater in the room to dry our cloths or shoes. The kitchen had everything you need and after dinner we went inside one of the hot pot. This was amazing because we could see the stars while we were sitting inside the pool. The troll hike and the little waterfall around this area was perfect for families. Of course we enjoyed it too. From this accommodation we could drive to amazing hikes and to the cave. A recommendation from the owner and it was worth it! All in all a very nice location for one night or for longer days. We stayed four nights and we would do it again. In the last morning we took the breakfast and it was very enjoyable. On the other mornings we made our own breakfast in the kitchen. Thanks and see you soon in the summer. (Because we want to listen to some live music in this amazing living room;)

We do recommend guests to book 2 nights at Nónsteinn. There are so many places to enjoy and then perfect to relax in the evening. Kirkjufell - Kirkjufellsfoss - Snæfellsjökull - Water cave - lava fields - black beaches - bird life - whale watching - Mountain view - northern lights - sunset, quietness, wonderful restaurants and so much more that you can experience here or near by. Nónsteinn is perfect place for newly weds, couples or friends.
This is a 25.5 s.m. cottage. It was built in 2016 and has all the basic necessitiese. There is a shower, small stove, fridge, microwave, and basic utensils to cook a simple meal. There is a queen size bed and cozy chairs to enjoy the landscape outside. We do have another cabin for rent, Grásteinn.
Snæfellsnes Peninsula is an area rich with natural beauty , ocean views and beautiful mountains. You can enjoy hiking, golfing , riding tours, sea angling and whale watching. Snæfellsjökull National Park is close by and you could travel by ferry to the West Fjords or stop at the island Flatey. You could also try the sea tours and enjoy the view of uncountable islands in Breiðarfjörður. This part of the country is just the nature in all its glory.
  • Cozy place, nice view, definitely will come back again

    Joan2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is photography heaven! Can't express how beautiful this corner of Iceland is! We fell in love with the cabin, found it very roomy and comfortable. Perfect bed and kitchen facilities, extremely warm and dry. The best spot is on the porch where we took amazing sunset photographs of Kirkufell and the northern lights! The restaurant in town is lovely and we had a tasty dinner there. But overall we loved the peaceful quiet while taking in the views with a hot cup of cocoa on the porch. Can't wait to get back! The dogs are lovely and very playful!

    Lucia2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful place to stay in the middle of nature with an amazing view! We spent three nights there and enjoyed it very much. It is easy to walk to the waterfalls and the whale watching tour was well worth it. Thanks again!

  • Great little house with a beautiful view. Can only be recommended!

    Klaus2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! The cabin is perfect in every way, the location, the amazing views and surroundings, cosy, great little touches like the LED candles and the bluetooth speaker etc, it's the little things that count. The communication from the hosts was always quick and very informative all the way through, and always extremely helpful. The location was very easy to find with perfect views of Kirkjufell and the check in process was faultless. Our only criticism was that we didn't stay long enough, we'll be back in the future for sure! Thanks again Anna and Óli!

    Grant2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We did some research and this place is highly rated. Still we were so surprised by the unbelievable location! literally across the street from Krikjufell. Room is clean and loved a cozy touch inside. Next time, we will stay more than a few nights for sure.

  • Inga & Einar's place is convenient, clean, homey, and lovely. There were snacks in the fridge, a toaster, dishes, robes, and towels. Communication was great. We really enjoyed our one night stay, even used the hot tub Cant say enough good things.

  • Inga and Einar’s place was great. Super close to the airport. Walkable to grocery, ice cream, places to eat! The bed was very comfortable. The shower had really hot water. ***IMPORTANT*** --PLEASE READ-- THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE KING SIZED BED IN ONE ROOM. I am renting separate rooms in my house. I have three rooms. I have separated the rooms according to the beds in them. So the rooms are: 1. Room with (1) King Sized Bed https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6430160?s=M6iz 2. Room with (2) Beds https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6485691?s=M6iz 3. Room with (2) Beds https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6485303?s=M6iz If this listing is booked, click on one of the links above! Each listing corresponds to one room. So if you are four friends who want two rooms, you must rent out two of the rooms above. If these rooms are booked, email me. I have a second large room I will rent outfor those who ask. --------------------- If you like quiet spaces with sublime sights of volcanoes and snow-capped mountains, you´ll fit right in. From my house, you can drive (5) minutes to Skögarfoss, 10-15 minutes to Seljalandsfoss, or just stare at the glory of Eyjafyallajökull (look below for more information on local sights). My house has five bedrooms, and I´m renting out three private rooms that can accommodate two people each. I also have a shared kitchen, living room, and one shared bathroom. So here´s a breakdown of my house. [KITCHEN] A comfy sized kitchen with a table that can seat 6-8 people. In the kitchen, you´ll find an oven, stove, refrigerator, coffee machine, electric kettle, blender, and plenty of pots and pans, bowls and glasses, coffee mugs and utensils. [LIVING ROOM] Perfect area to relax. Included: TV, DVD player, three armchairs, three sofas. I also have a computer you can use, or if you prefer to use your own computer, smart phone, or any other space gadget, I will give you the password to your free WiFi. [BATHROOM] My bathroom has a shower, bathrub, toilet, sink, and towel rack.
[WATERFALLS] 1. Skögarfoss: (5 minutes drive); a magnificent waterfall, one of Iceland´s biggest, with a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. Stairs lead to the top of the fall, where, often, you´ll see single or double rainbows. Nearby, you can eat at the Skögar Bistro (they serve excellent coffees and fish!). 2. Seljalandsfoss: (10-15 minute drive); famous for its smooth, almost unbending cascades, Seljalandsfoss is one of Suðurland´s gems. You can awe at its falling from the front, or (unique to Iceland) you can hike behind it. 3. Kvernufoss: one of the more hidden (and less touristy) waterfalls in Iceland, Kvernufoss is close to Skögarfoss, but off the beaten path. A good hiking guide to the falls can be found here: http://www.world-of-waterfalls.com/iceland-kvernufoss.html [MOUNTAINS} 1. Eyjafjallajökull: in 2010, this volcano made news when it erupted, causing chaos for northern Europe´s airplanes. You can definitely see it from my house (I have a golden view of it, especially in the evening, as the sun sets behind it). If you really like adventure, you could summit it in one day. Typically, the hike takes 8 - 10 hours. My house is the perfect end to a day of hiking Eyjafjallajökull. You could bring your own equipment, or rent equipment from nearby hiking services. You could also book a guided tour, which run from 30,000 to 40,000 kronur. [MUSEUMS] 1. Eyjafjallajökull: At this museum, you can watch a film about the volcano´s eruption and its effects on the farmers. There is a gift shop, as well. Hours: 1 May - 31 May: 10:00 - 16:00 1 June - 31 August: 9:00 - 18:00 1 September - 30 September: 10:00 - 16:00 1 October - 30 April: 11:00 - 16:00 2. Skogar Folk Museum (Skogasafn) : Learn how Icelanders lived in turf houses and worked at this museum of Icelandic inhabitants´ history. Hours: May AND September: 10:00 - 17:00 June, July, August: 9:00 - 18:00 October to April: 11:00 - 16:00 3. Byggðasafn: Thousands of native items, many contributed by locals, tools and furnishings that tell of Iceland´s past. Hours: June 1 - Sept 1: 11:00 - 18:00 [ISLANDS] 1. Vestmannaeyjar: Beautiful islands that housed the famous 1973 volcano eruption. The harbor, Landeyjahöfn, is less than 30 minutes from my house. The ferry to Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands) takes about 30 minutes. [SWIMMING POOLS] 1. Seljavallalaug: One of Iceland´s oldest swimming pools (circa 1923); the pool is about a 5 minute drive from my house. And these are just the things around my house. Iceland has plenty to see!
  • Lovely place with a great host. Absolutely stunning breakfast and extra care, would always recommend it!

  • Maybe the most accomodating host I've been to. Every morning he personally prepared breakfast and waffles for his guests. Rooms were tiny, however big enough for a double bed and sleeping comfortably. There is only one bathroom for the guests, however everybody was considerate and we managed to share it. It was very clean. The road to the host is 1km off road and was snowy, but it was doable with our 4wd. Free roaming ponys brightened our days. Would recommend 👌

Our host Snæbjörn was friendly, he made breakfast for us in the morning (very delicious waffles) and also gave us great tips on what things we could go see in the surrounding area. 10/10 would recommend this Farmhouse!

  • Snaebjorn's place is truly a hidden gem. Right off the beaten path of the Golden Circle lies a wonderful farmhouse with a kind caretaker and an abundance of waffles. A great place to explore Southern Iceland.

The hot tub was definitely one of the highlights of our trip in Iceland, nothing beats having a bath in the evening with natural geothermal water after a long day of sightseeing! The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed. Thank you for the unforgettable stay! We will be back for sure on our next trip to Iceland.

My place is close to public transport, the flybus stop, the city center, supermarkets, great restaurants, coffeehouses, outdoor swimming pool. Close to the central bus station in Hafnarfjörður and only 10 km from city center Reykjavik. The apartment has its own private entrance and is located in our backyard. You’ll love my place because of the coziness and the and it is very central. Fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom is small but nice. Space It's a lovely one bedroom apartment.
It's a lovely studio bedroom apartment in central Hafnarfjörður. It's very bright and cozy. The bedroom has a queen size bed and a space to hang up your clothes. The living room has a sofa(90x200cm) and a dining table for three persons. It's very bright and cozy to sit in and relax. Even though the kitchen is small it is fully equipped, so you conjoure up a perfect meal. The tap water comes out quite cold and fresh. The bathroom has a good shower but the bathroom is small.
The apartment is located in the old town of Hafnarfjordur. Hafnarfjordur is known in Iceland as the town in the lava. The old town has beautiful coloured old houses. At the beginning of our street there is a beautiful lava park, Hellisgerði, and at the other end is the town pond called Lækurinn. Hafnarfjörður has wonderful pathways and beautiful hiking routes in the Uppland and Helgafell area. The costal line offers a beautiful stroll in the evening and if you feel like walking it takes about 90-120 min. to walk to downtown Reykjavik. The house is in a quiet, family-friendly neighbourhood. There is a childrens' play area, with swings and slides, very nearby. The shops, cafes and restaurants of central Hafnarfjordur are a 5 minute walk downhill from the apartment. The town has three great swimming pools - the nearest being 10 minutes walk away. If golf is your thing, there are three courses nearby. There are riding stables within ten minutes drive of the house.

It is good for guests to know that I have a dog called Fönn, she is very friendly. Our home is located about 12km from Höfn. In our neighbourhood you can go on small hikes, walk by the river and nature. We are surrounded by mountains an the biggest glaicer in Europe Vatnajökull. To reach Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón you need to drive approximately 85km to south. Stokksnes/Vestrahorn is about 20km east there you can walk on a black beach.
Icelandic home full of warmth and love. We treat our guests like family and so does our dog Fönn.
  • Heida is a super great and lovely host! She is a very friendly and communicative person. Apart from that the place its beautiful and we highly advise you to stay there. We have felt very well at heidas home and it was difficult for us to leave it. We look forward for the next time. Cheers!

  • We recommend this wonderful place zu 100%! It was sooo nice! :) :)

  • Hands down the greatest Airbnb experience I’ve ever had. Heida and her family were more than welcoming, offering a warm, cozy, deliciously smelling house that made for the highlight of our vacation. This is exactly what Airbnb should be, generous local hosts, a beautifully decorated home, and a community atmosphere, all for a good price. A must for anyone traveling through the area and looking for an authentic, local experience.

Newly renovated building set in the fjord of Seyðisfjörður, 7 km away from the town centre. The house was a school in the older days but has now been given a modern design with beautiful views and the feeling of being away from everything.
  • Great cabin in a fantastic environment! Everything available what is needed for a self-catering holiday. Double bed, bathroom with showers, kitchen with hob and many accessories! Cozy couch with Swedish stove ☺️ Who can play the piano, has the opportunity to do so.

  • This small cottage is so nice and warm, decorated with little lights and with a beautiful view; furthermore, the host was very nice with us (she brought us the bedding even though we were forgetting to ask for it until like 7 pm). It was just perfect for one night during our roadtrip all around Iceland! 100% recommended.

  • This place is brilliant, you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well provisioned, the bed is comfy, and the sofa bed is adequate (though I personally wouldn't want to sleep on it for more than a couple of nights). The cabin was warm and cozy, I wish we could have stayed longer. It would have been nice if the porch area had been cleared of snow, as we had hoped to be able to use it more comfortably to sit out and look for the aurora.

    Marion2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, highly recommended

    Michał2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing. It was everything I wanted from my remote stay in Iceland and more. Bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of heaters to keep the cabin warm. Great location to go explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (which was incredible).

    Houston2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic! It is a quiet, quaint, and cozy cabin tucked away from the city. You have complete privacy and you are surrounded by the beautiful Icelandic landscape. It is 15 minutes away from the bigger city, Stykkishólmur. Our host greeted us and was readily available throughout our stay. She was very attentive, caring, and thoughtful. The lovely cabin is even equipped with WiFi, cable TV and a DVD player with a selection of movies. We were even able to see the northern lights and the stars at night were amazing. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away.

    Mara2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, beautiful little cabin with lovely red theme colour. Sweet and humble people were our hosts. Wonderful location in winter wonderland Iceland and I can’t imagine how beautiful it would be in summer time

    Armaghan2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent cottages with all modern facilities. Space was quite clean and it was located in a remote area where you can stay in peace and enjoy solitude. You can get glimpse of Aurora also if conditions are favorable

    Prateek2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • It's the best place to see the aurora and the stars. I was worried about the cold, but the living room was a bit chilly, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are quite warm, so the heating and hot water are very good. The kitchen was good, the tv and dvd, the WIFI are well equipped and equipped.

  • If you google northern lights/aurora in western Iceland you would see a few similar photos of aurora dancing on top of a mountain top, and that mountain top is no other than Mt. Kirkjufell. And Hjortur’s place is THE best spot for if: Mt Kirkjufell is just right beside his place, you can fill the whole mountain into your 21mm camera lens from the patio. Before booking this place I asked Hjortur if there’s any problem for me to drive to his place (we had phobia after we got our rental vehicle stuck in the snow). Hjortur gave us the assurance and we were pleased to see that the driveway and the slope to the cabin was cleared from snow when we reached there. We stayed here for 2 nights, and we had the best aurora sighting on the first night. Skies were clear and it was almost KP3, we literally saw aurora dancing on top of us from 00:00 to 02:00 with our naked eyes. The whole sky was lit up with dashes of green/purple/white and it was a gorgeous sight to behold. On the second day the weather took a drastic turn, it was snowing and strong winds for the whole day. We spent the whole day in this cozy little cabin, and by evening we got a little worried as thick snow has accumulated around our vehicle. Weather forecast shows it will be bad weather for the next 2 days... we had an afternoon flight to catch the next day. A quick check with Hjortur and he came by and help us to clear some snow around our vehicle, and advised us to park our vehicle in Grundarfjörður town as he fears we might not be able to drive out early in the morning. We did what he said and Hjortur fetched us back to our cabin after we parked our car in town (which is just 5 minutes drive). The 2nd night at Kirkjufell had one of the craziest weather we experienced over our 2 weeks in Iceland. It was raining and snowing and the winds are very strong and we can feel the whole cabin rattles. Hjortur came to pick us from our cabin the next morning despite the bad weather, and we braved ourselves to walk in the blazing winds and strong rainfall. The wind knock us off our feet a few times and that 100m from our cabin to Hjortur’s vehicle was one of the most challenging “routes” we had experienced in Iceland. Nevertheless Hjortur brought us from the cabin to our vehicle (which we parked in town) safely, and we manage to reach the airport on time. A big thanks to Hjortur for his advise and assistance! Ok come back to the cabin: it’s a pretty large cabin with 2 rooms (you can sleep 3 person in each room). The kitchen is very well stocked and the whole place is clean. There is a hot tub just next to the main door which was kept warm and usable even in winter. Hjortur also provided iPhone charger and lightning cable, and a Bluetooth speaker which are nice touches... all in all we really enjoyed our stay with Hjortur. In the midst of Covid virus, most of the airBnB hosts avoided seeing us throughout our 2 weeks stay in Iceland. Hjortur went the extra mile, he came to greet us on first day, and he came again on the next 2 days to help us. For those reading this review, rest assured that you are in good hands and the host Hjortur will take great care of you during your stay in his cabin. To Hjortur, thank you once again!

  • Everything was just fine. Great Location for many beautiful landscapes around.

    Patrick2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in House #1 and I am glad we had this one as #2 would be looking at an amazing view with a cabin in front of it (#1). The views are stellar on this property!!! Hjortur had the hot tub ready for us to use upon arrival and this was awesome. My only concern was that other travellers were coming on the property to take photos of Kirkjufell mountain (which is on the property) and although the one man I spoke to was polite, it was odd to have a stranger come into our space and start asking questions. Not sure what can be done as there is already a sign advising that it is a private area. All in all, a great spot!

  • A Nice, comfortable and atmospheric little cottage close to Stykkisholmur in Snæfellsness. Not far away situated from the hotel's reception, but still keeping its privacy within a stunning landscape. Suitable for three persons, it contains everything you need, even a barbecue for warmer months. BIG plus are the owners, who are always reachable and are willing to help one out whenever they can, regardless whether the TV's not working or, as in my case, when I was asking for a luggage scale. Highly recommendable!

  • Martina and Jon are perfect hosts. Inviting and attentive but never intrusive. Their breakfast was the best I've had anywhere; with freshly made bread that morning and eggs from their chickens. The views from the house are stunning. It was the best place we stayed during our trip to Iceland and would stay here again for sure!

    Elliot2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately due to weather conditions and road closures to Vik we were unable to make it to Martina and Jón’s place, but they stayed in communication with us and we are so grateful for their understanding.

    Alyssa2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The stay in Vik was our best night on our honeymoon in Iceland by far. Jon met us at our car and helped us in with our bags, and treated us to tea and cookies once inside. He helped us iron out our travel plans when we realized we'd made over ambitious driving plans during the unpredictable winter weather and gave us all the travel advice and resources we needed. We're from the southern United States so we definitely needed the help. And breakfast was absolutely amazing, with locally sourced cheeses, meats, fruits, and vegetables and homemade breads and marmelades. Also the best plain coffee I've ever had, and I used to be a barista. Comfy beds and awesome community space, although there was no one else staying at the same time as we were. 5/5 stars isn't enough, this stay helped us stay safe in Iceland and was the best travel decision we made.

    Kora2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully cozy space with a beautiful view. Our stay was recharging and the hospitality was excellent. It was everything we needed.

    Brendon2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn’t dream of a more hospitable and welcoming host than Jon. We stayed one night on our Iceland road trip and we were made to feel so at home. The house is beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and is very clean and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely breakfast, and Jon was gracious enough to entertain all our questions about farm life in Iceland, and provide local tips and advice. Can’t recommend Jon and Martina’s place enough.

    Stephanie2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magnificent. The only downside was that Jón refused to return with us to Australia as a permanent fixture in our lives. Thanks very much, looking forward to seeing you again!

    William2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Martina and Jon were outstanding hosts and their farm is a charming place to stay! It's right outside Vik with very quick access to the black beach. You'll be served fresh eggs and lamb from their farm in the morning along with great bread, cheese, tea and coffee for breakfast! Jon and Martina are very engaging, welcoming and hospitable - the best hosts I've come across through Airbnb!!!! Staying here was definitely a highlight of our trip in Iceland. Minor notes so you can be prepared: you most likely won't be able to see the northern lights from the farm as there is a large cliff on the north side (if the activity level is a 2-3 the lights won't be high enough to see over the cliff). Also you won't be able to cook - just a hot water pot is available (this worked great for our noodle and pasta bowls we brought!) If you're looking for a great place to stay on the south coast this is it!

    Emma2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stay which epitomizes what a traveller would hope for from every Airbnb. The warmest of Icelandic company, living on a farm in the lap of nature, beautiful house, authentic farm grown icelandic meals.....it was one of the best stays I have had in a very very long time.

The apartment is a very comfortable private apartment close to the old harbor, just 950m from the city center. The apartment is on the third floor (no lift). The house is in front of a primary school which I love because it is so alive when the children go out to play. The school started at 08:30 and you might hear the bell ringing and children and parents coming to school.
The apartment is located in a residential neighborhood in the old harbor area and an easy stroll to the city center. It is only 950 meters from the city center itself and the areas numerous attractions. Close to our place are four museums: Maritime, Saga, Northern Lights and Whale's museum: There are couples of coffee shops and a newest ice cream shop (Italian ice) in Reykjavík. It is very close to the harbor and the city center. Everything is very close from our place so the best way to travel around our neighborhood is by foot or bike. But the Bus Terminal is just ca. 25 min. walking from our place. We are very close to the Grandi harbour area which just recently was limited to anything “fishy.”. However, over the past couple of years, the area has evolved into a fantastic conglomeration of restaurants, shops, museums and IT businesses, as well as fishing boats and baiting huts. Grandi is literally teeming with life. There are small fishing boats regularly coming in to harbor to land their catch; and then there´s the dry dock where bigger trawlers are being repaired. The scenery isn't half bad either— there´s the panoramic view out over Faxaflói bay and Mount Esja rises majestically in the distance. The invigorating smell of the sea, the views, eateries, boutiques, cultural activities, and the hustle and bustle of this fashionable part of town make it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll.
  • The appartement is well located in Reykjavik, the place is very sunny and clean, and the host is super nice!

  • Maria was lovely from start to finish and her place was extremely cosy, sparkling clean, at a good location and very stylish. The view from the bedroom was also great. We really appreciated the local tips, thoughtful touches (such as condiments, tea snd coffee available to use) and communication was absolutely amazing. Would stay again and would highly recommend!

    Klavdiya2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s place was great. Lots of parking outside the apartment and a short drive to all the main attractions in Reykjavik. Also close to a bonus supermarket which we found to be cheaper than back home in the UK (on par with Aldi and Lidl) the kitchen facilities were great and the place was warm.

    Jake2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Maria's place was in a perfect location--it was a quiet residential area that was easily walkable to lots of shops and restaurants. The apartment was clean and in good condition and Maria was responsive and helpful.

  • The place is very easy to find, you can spot the cottages from the main road. We enjoyed cooking our meals during our stay. The location is decent for aurora spotting but luck wasn’t on our side during our stay. If you are looking for a tranquil place I highly recommend Einar and Melanie’s place.

    Anna 2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We came in hopes of seeing the northern lights. As expected for an unpredictable climate, we did not. That being said, the seclusion of this cabin is top notch! We loved driving through the town of Egilssaðir, but being able to leave the bright lights behind was great. The cabin has everything you need for a night or week! Don’t forget to say hi to the horses behind the cabin before you leave!

The cabin is quite well planned, open and relaxing with stunning picturesque scenery, as one of a handful of cabins in a secluded area. The cabin is very cosy with a rustic touch, to make your experience as wonderful as possible. With two queen sized beds, a sofa bed in the living room and loft, we can accommodate 4-8 people, so perfect for families and small groups.
Renovated in 2017 but designed to maintain and enhance a rustic feel. Comfortable couch to get lost in a book or watch a movie. A BBQ on the porch. Basic amenities in the kitchen and basic WiFi
We are about 15min drive from a small town called Borganes, which has most of the things you might need when vacationing in Iceland. Grocery store, wine store, petrol station, restaurants, swimming pool, bank, clinic and more. All around us the beautiful nature ready for you to explore!

  • The cabin was by far one of the best Airbnbs we’ve ever stayed in. It’s beautifully decorated, had everything we needed, and was just overall such a comfortable place to stay. The location was great for us in that it was close enough to a town for groceries but far enough for everything to enjoy the peace and quiet and watch the lights. Hosts were so friendly, helpful and responsive. I can’t recommend this place enough!

    Elizabeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay here! It was so relaxing to be so removed from the city and to just enjoy the peace and quiet!

    Rachel2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home inside and out!! The views are stunning and the house is stylish. The home did require a 4x4 to get to but that wasn't a problem for us. This place is the perfect mix of cozy and spacious and will leave you speechless. The sauna is perfect for staying warm while watching the snow fall and I was truly impressed by the level of hospitality we received. I HIGHLY recommend staying here.

  • Great location to city center. Walking distance to just about everywhere.

Berg farm is located in one of the most beautiful places in Snæfellnes and one of the most hidden places there. However, just 5 minutes drive to Kirkjufell and Kirkjufell waterfall. And 7 minutes drive to Grundarfjörður town. The cosy cottage is located at Berg horse farm behind the famous mountain Kirkjufell. Very private place. Magnificent natural beauty and birdlife characterize the place. Great place for photographers. Northern lights clearly visible at Berg horse farm.
Why spend the night here ? I am born and raised in NIceland and I have travelled my country, worked in farms and met my fellow Icelanders all over the country. In the past 6 years I have done my Private Gourmet Tours so I work a lot with farmers. I am proud to say that I "found" Berg farm and it´s people few years back. Here I will list reasons for why this farm land and those farmers are my favourite place and people in NIceland : - The view from the accommodation is breath taking (for me a well travelled local as well !) - Kirkjufell mountain is rising up from their backyard to make the scene just a little more dramatic - The family living on the farm is truly the most "real" people I know, greatest of friends and authentic... the type you want to have on your team if you get stuck on a deserted island and need to survive :) - Last but not least... If you have any desire to go horse back riding here is a hint : Do NOT do that anywhere else ! - Go on a private tour with those people on real horses, with real farmers on the most beautiful land there is with amazing birdlife and nature ! Beautiful, warm and cozy cottage with beds for up to 4 people. It's located in the countryside 18 km from the town Egilsstaðir on road 931. It's on the south side of the lake on the way to Hallormsstaður the biggest forest in Iceland. Next grocery store is in Egilsstaðir. Good paved road, passable all the year. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful landscape, nice hiking trails down to the lake or up to the hills, good place to see the northern lights in winter time.
A new cottage with new beds and furniture. There is internet connection, small fridge and kettle for making tea. It's 24 square meters with small WC (toilet and sink) but beside the cottage is service house with showers and more toilets and a sitting area with kitchen facilities. In the sitting area are 2 little stoves with oven, fridge and everything you need to prepare meals, there is also internet connection and radio with CD player. We provide small breakfast for the guests there, homemade bread, butter, cheese, jams, juice, tea and coffee.
This is a beautiful area wit so many interesting things to see and explore. Just here around our accommodation is a change to take a walk in peaceful and quiet landscape where you can be alone in peace. We are located in the middle of many interesting and gorgeous places and I can mention Iceland biggest forest Hallormsstaður, beautiful waterfall Hengifoss, Skriðuklaustur, Snæfellsstofa (Snaefellstofa) Visitor Centre. I can also mention Strútsfoss, Stórurð, Fardagafoss, the Wilderness center, Stapavík, Húsey, national hot tub in Laugarfell, Sænautasel and many other places. You can go to the fjords like a beautiful village Seyðisfjörður and the fjord Borgarfjörður where you can see puffins. If you want to have a delicious vegan food we recommend you to stop in Vallanes, Móðir jörð, very nice place and good food. You can check out these places on the web and see photos.
  • This place is wonderful. Elsa is really friendly and welcoming. The house is COZY and the bed comfortable. Make sure you have some of the homemade bread for breakfast, it is delicious.

  • I cannot say enough about Elsas place! My boyfriend and I got stuck here during a snow storm and we honestly couldn’t have imagined a better place to be stuck! Such a cozy kitchen space to curl up in and read or watch tv. Elsa brought us so many treats and I’m pretty sure I gained 5lbs off her amazing bread. Played pool and darts until the storm passed. Again, I cannot say enough for their amazing hospitality and thoughtfulness. Would definitely stay here again!

The house is designed to capture this, with big windows, transparency, minimalistic architecture and a lot of daylight. During spring, summer and autumn the surroundings have a rich bird life. Many species nest in the area. The neighbor's Iceland horses are close by. The area is flat with grass and sand further south toward the see. There are no trees. During the day it can be windy, but in the after noon specially during summer around six, it often gets quiet. There is usually a lot of changing weather. Not everybody likes a lot of weather but one can stay comfortably inside and observe it trough the big windows.
  • This place was fantastic! A very modern up to date home that was exceptionally clean and comfortable. There were 5 of us and more than enough room for everyone. If (when) we are back in Iceland we will definitely make a point of staying here again!

    Lori-Anne2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • STAY HERE!!! It is utterly stunning, both the house and the surrounding landscape. The many windows frame the landscape beautifully and provide abundant natural light. Particularly love the blue hour light in the evenings. Feels very private. You can see one farm with horses way off in the distance but otherwise it feels like you have the whole landscape to yourself. The thoughtful design features made it cozy and function while adding to it’s beauty. The heated floors were particularly perfect the night of a big snow and wind storm. Stayed nice and cozy all night long. Really hope to return here again in the future.

We went around the ring road clockwise, and so we did not make it to Selfoss for groceries or restaurant recommendations prior to our arrival but there was surprisingly enough in the area for food.
