  • Beautiful views, well located but you may just want to stay an in the conservatory and look at the view. Comfortable beds and everything felt very relaxed. Sally is very easy to be around, so helpful and chilled out. We had a brilliant time with our friends.

  • Lovely large house in a beautiful setting. Well stocked kitchen and we loved the huge wood burner!

    Zelinda2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy, comfortable house perfect for families with older and younger children and dogs. Little extras like having salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce etc in the cupboard helped plus loads of space for everyone to sit and eat, high chair for baby, children's plates and cutlery etc. Two fridges to store food and lots of freezer space. Garden brilliant for kids and dogs even in the middle of winter and even though we were playing guitars and being very noisy after children's bedtimes, no one was woken up! Only thing to be aware of is very steep stairs for younger children, just need to help them up and down and keep an eye!

  • Wow what can I say, our stay was unforgettable, The cottage is truly beautiful, a complete Gem with so much character and warmth you will instantly feel at home and the views are breathtaking! We wish we didn’t have to go home, Sally’s generosity is beyond words, she’s equipped the cottage and garden with everything you would ever need, we were all overwhelmed by how much there was for us and all the adults and children never had a opportunity to be bored with the amount of games, books, toys etc we had on offer. Stunning cottage, Amazing host, excellent location I would highly recommend booking this property to everyone, we already want to book to go back! Thank you again Sally.

  • Great beautiful house. Very cosy feel with loads of space.

    David2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This house is so super special. We stayed here as a huge family for our Christmas and Clare and Sally couldn’t do enough for us. We struggled to get our christmas shop delivered as we couldn’t get a delivery slot, so Clare went and collected it for us from the local Tesco’s and put it all away for us! Talk about superstar! Everything was ready for our arrival. We was happily greeted when we first arrived, with a hand book with everything we needed to know and the house was beautifully decorated with christmas decor! The wood burning fire was a super special touch, and the house had a real homey feel to it! It literally had everything you needed and nothing was s problem! High chairs for kids, towels, bedding, even toys for my two boys, and the fact that my beagle was welcome was sooo kind and meant we could all spend christmas as a real family. If you ever want to shut the door on life, and stay in a. really lovely warm, family home... where nothing is too much... then this is the place for you. Can’t recommend enough! we would love to return.. thank you!

    Nicola2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's place in Thorpe le Soken exceeded our expectations in every way. She greeted us graciously as soon as we arrived and made us feel immediately at home. Her cottage has a lot of space, both inside and out, comfortably sleeping a large group of us, and had all the facilities (such as kitchen, etc.) we needed to make it a fun, relaxing weekend away. Sally also had a lot of local knowledge and was able to recommend a few places in the village which completed our trip. We're already planning to see when we can come back in the summer!

    Mac2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay and loved the house for the amount of folk. All the living rooms allowed us to have seperate gatherings with out interruptingthe others. Rooms were great and garden is a real winner in summer i bet. Sally was a great communicator and kept us posted throughout the process.

  • Suki is a very friendly and nice hostess. The (small) room she rents is nice and tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and an excellent bed. With a private bathroom at your disposal, it is a more than pleasant stay. As far as the kitchen is concerned, there is more than enough available for 'self-sufficiency'. I definitely recommend this accommodation and will want to use it again when in the area.

The caravan is surprisingly spacious, with a large living room to accommodate the entire family during game nights. Of course, an open plan kitchen connects to the living room, so that you can easily get up and grab a cold one without missing a single moment of the X-factor! The bedrooms are also a couple of steps away, with the master bedroom located between the two twin single rooms. Access to all the amenities on site does require a day pass (£5 per person).
We’re a very large family who have always loved taking holidays altogether. Caravan parks have been our favourite and most efficient way to experience beautiful places allover the UK together, whilst also having the freedom to stay in our own ‘home away from home’ to do as we please! So, we decided that more people and families need to experience this. We give to you our caravan holiday rental! We specifically selected this caravan to fit the holiday needs of individuals as well as families. It is located on an up and coming park, and a blink away from the coast, where you can enjoy lovely picnics and beach days. She is a very interesting and creative woman and we are glad we got to know her. She even looked for toys that our baby could play with. The room has everything you need and sleeping there was very comfortable. The bathroom is beautiful and the whole apartment super clean. We can highly recommend staying there!!

This is a sunny Victorian cottage 4 miles from the Suffolk coast and Felixstowe. The house is light, airy and spacious. You will have a large single room with ensuite, use of the kitchen, your own cupboard and fridge/freezer space. There is a TV in your room and fast wifi. The parking is within the property, which is gated. You are welcome to bring your own food. I will offer toast and marmalade and tea/coffee for breakfast. The house is down a private track, away from the road.
Besides the landlady, there is another lady lodger and we all use the kitchen and the rest of the amenities.
There is a pub which does good food 1/3 mile from my house (down a lit road with footpath). There is also a farm shop with cafe open during the day about 500 yards from the house. If you enjoy going for walks, there is a lovely 1 mile walk through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the River Orwell estuary where you can follow the coastal path to Trimley Marshes wildlife reserve.
  • I enjoyed very much stay in Sue house. Fully recommend this accomodation for everybody !!!

    Michael2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was a great host , had a wonderful stay at her home , felt like a retreat great location. highy recommended could not ask for more.

    Ersoy2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Susan gave me a very warm welcome. The single room was warm, clean and comfortable and the ensuite shower worked very well. There was a small multi channel TV in the room and good heating. Susan is an interesting and considerate host and provided a light continental breakfast which was a bonus I was not expecting. The local pub is a 10 minute walk and provides a varied and reasonably priced menu for evening meals. This was a great stopover on my way to Norfolk to visit family. Highly recommended and excellent value.

Mayor’s Garden - Restful public garden, containing shrubs and trees and featuring colourful floral beds during the summer. Redoubt Fort - Napoleonic circular fort and moat built between 1808 and 1810 to protect the port of Harwich against the threat of invasion. It houses old artillery pieces and period exhibits. High Lighthouse - Built in 1818 by John Rennie to replace a light over the Town Gate. This and the Low Lighthouse provided a transit line to guide ships safely into Harwich harbour. It also marks the end of ‘The Essex Way’, an 82 mile walking route through the Essex countryside. Ha’penny Pier - A great vantage point to view the harbour and waterfront buildings. Its name originates from the 1/2d (half an old penny) toll charged when the pier opened in 1853. The Visitor/ Information Centre (seasonal opening times) on the pier also houses an exhibition recording the voyages of Christopher Jones & Christopher Newport to the New World. Lightship LV18 - The last manned light ship in the UK, now moored permanently near the Ha’penny Pier as a Museum Ship, that welcomes visitors to tour the vessel and view its exhibits including Pirate Radio Station memorabilia. Visitors are welcome to view the inshore boat housed in the building and the offshore lifeboat can be seen afloat on the waterfront. Navyard - In former times this commercial dock was a Naval Yard. Numerous wooden warships were built on the site for the Royal Navy during the time of Samuel Pepys and Nelson. Street Murals - Stroll along Wellington Street to view a colourful range of street murals on buildings and walls, including barges, ships, local features and seaside postcards. Electric Palace Cinema - Built in 1911, it is one of the oldest operational cinemas in the UK, with a glorious front facade, traditional interior and great film programmes. St Nicholas Church - This graceful Church was built in 1822. Its simple neo-Gothic style incorporates slender iron columns, a wonderful organ and interesting monuments to seafarers. Designed to seat 1,500 people, it is the largest Church in the District. It is often open to visitors. The Guildhall - The town’s only Grade I Listed Building, it houses the Town Council Chamber and a prison cell with ship carvings dating back to Napoleonic times. Mayflower Project - Work is underway to construct a replica of the Mayflower – the ship that took the Pilgrim Fathers to America in 1620. It has a public viewing area. Lifeboat Museum - The attractive old Lifeboat station on the waterfront now houses the “Valentine Wyndham-Quin”, an offshore lifeboat which was in service between 1968 -1984, and other exhibits. Treadwheel Crane - A rare historic crane built in 1667, used at the Naval Yard, moved to its present site on Harwich Green in about 1932. The crane was worked by men walking in the interior of two large wheels to raise and lower goods and materials. Low Lighthouse Museum - Built in 1818 as the forward of two transit light houses, it now houses a maritime museum and is a great vantage point to view the harbour from the lantern. Children’s Playgrounds - In Dovercourt play equipment for children situated in parks adjacent to the seafront promenade. The Dovercourt indoor heated swimming pool is open to the public throughout the year. The Dovercourt Low Road leisure area, adjacent to the beach and seafront promenade, provides a range of facilities including a boating lake, skate park, putting green and tennis courts.

  • The perfect Airbnb experience. Great communication and instructions, excellent accommodation and location. We left very happy and will definitely book again.

    Grant2019-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right by the pier, sadly the flat is to the side of the building so no view of the sea. The flat itself is clean and bright with thoughtful touches, the building it is in lets it down a bit as the lift was out of order and is generally a bit run down, but its location was why we chose here, we were not expecting five star luxury. Check in was straightforward and we had no issues while we stayed. Would happily book again.

  • From the minute we booked our 2 night stay Gillian was in touch. Gillian even said we could check in a few hours earlier as it was available. Chalet had some lovely touches and had everything we needed. Really cosy space. Even when I had to ring her as I couldn’t get tv to work it was sorted in minutes as a neighbour popped round to do it. No problem with tv just our lack of knowledge ! Hot tub amazing. Would definitely return. Thanks Gill

  • Great place with everything you could possibly want in the chalet. The hot tub was a nice touch which we used and it was lovely. Short walk to the beach and you can walk into Harwich. Dog friendly and private fenced off garden. Gill was very helpful with everything. Thank you again.

  • Me and my partner stayed at this accommodation for our anniversary so that we could just get away for a weekend. We went to Colchester zoo one day and travelled to London for the other so we didn’t spend much time in the accommodation but when we came in, there were some lovely touches that really made it quite special even for a little chalet. One of the highlights was having a few glasses of wine whilst playing a game of connect 4 that had been left which got very competitive but led to some great laughs! Thanks to Gill for being a great host!!

    Jac2019-10-20T00:00:00Z

A Rare opportunity to experience the Great Eastern Hotel. My place has great views, art and culture, restaurants and dining, beautiful walks and the beach. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
The Lookout is on the top floor of Quayside Court and offers stunning views across the estuary of the rivers Stour and Orwell. Quayside Court, once the Great Eastern Hotel, is an impressive grade II listed building located in the heart of Old Harwich, sitting on the Quay opposite the Ha’penny Pier, where the steam packets used to come in for passengers to embark or disembark. There are a huge variety of things to do in and around Harwich for all ages. Stroll around Harwich with its unique Pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants or just sit and watch the activity at Felixstowe Docks across the river. Visit the Mayflower Project, visit the many heritage sites, walk the Heritage Trail or go crabbing on the pier. Just a few minutes walk away is the beautiful blue flag beach . Harwich’s many different festivals, held throughout the year, are very well supported and create a lovely atmosphere. With large picture windows offering fantastic views of the estuary from every room, this cosy accommodation is furnished and equipped to a high standard and offers 2 bedrooms, one double room and one twin room, bathroom with shower over bath, large living room with TV, kitchen diner with dishwasher, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and single oven. Amenities: Free parking, bed linen, towels, Free WiFi, electric and heating included. No Smoking is permitted in the apartment or in the common areas. Small dogs are allowed with permission at an extra charge.
There is over ten different places to eat within 5 minutes walk. and even more places to have a drink, there are several places have live music, including one of the oldest running cinema in the UK. There is a couple of convenience stores nearby and several large supermarkets 5 minutes drive.
  • We had a great couple of nights stay in Harwich. The location of this listing is perfect right on the seafront close by to all the main attractions, restaurants and pubs. The views out the window towards the North Sea are fantastic. The space itself is stylish, clean and spacious with everything you need for a great stay. There is a book full of recommendations. This is a great space and I would thoroughly recommend booking it if you fancy a weekend in Harwich.

  • We had a wonderful stay, lovely apartment and great location, breakfast in the cafe on the pier opposite is great too

    Jacqui2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious flat in great location near the quay with amazing views of the harbour. Good communication from host. Plenty of parking. Flat is on the top floor. Lift out of order the weekend we were there so we had plenty of exercise climbing the stairs.

    Karen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful apartment with stunning views over Harwich Haven and Felixstowe Docks. This apartment is huge! Very nicely appointed and equipped. Kitchen big enough for everyone to be in there whilst cooking. Beds and sofa / chairs very comfortable. Having the lift made it very easy to get our stuff (and us) up and down. Car park very convenient and easy to access. Very friendly people in Harwich. Excellent location for all sorts of excursions and local activities. Lots of great eating places within a very short walking distance. Harwich is very underrated as a destination. We only booked it because we couldn't get our original choice on Ipswich waterfront. This apartment is every bit as nice, with even more harbour sights and sounds, at a more reasonable price. We're planning on coming again next year.

  • Paul has a lovely apartment with great seaside views. The apartment is really clean, spacious and well equipped, also Paul is responding very quick to all questions. We had a great stay!

There are good services, WiFi and easy access to all the shops you need. The sea front is just seconds away.

  • This apartment is absolutely beautiful and exactly as it shows in the pictures! We had a lovely stay which we booked very late the night before we arrived, and Georgia responded quickly and accommodated us. There were lovely extra touches and the indoor log burner was amazing especially after a chilly walk down the beach! This was our first time using air bnb and we are very happy and will continue to use air bnb and would happily return to Georgia's again in the future.

  • It was planned as a simple overnight stopover to get the ferry, but it was quite more. Very friendly hosts & their friends, a good beer, handmade music and a lovely ancient flat with cozy interior. Even though it was not much more than one hour of conversation we felt a bit like staying with friends. This is the kind of experience we love with having a stay in a private home, authentic not artificial. JimnRuth, you gave us a great final of our journey, Thank you !!

They made us feel very welcome a cup of tea after a long day cycling, provided us somewhere to store our bikes, dry our wet clothes, and gave us great advice for heading on the next day. The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfy. If you wake up early enough you can see the sun rise over the sea! Just a shame we couldn't spend more time there!

This modern three storey town house is situated in the heart of Old Harwich, tastefully decorated throughout this property offers all the benefits of modern living within a character style property. Just a few minutes walk from the Half Penny pier and promenade there are numerous bars and restaurants to visit.
The modern fitted kitchen has a built in dishwasher, fridge freezer and oven. It also benefits from a separate utility with washing machine. There is a parking space to the side of the property and a pretty courtyard to the rear to enjoy the warm days and summer evenings.
  • We enjoyed our stay in this lovely clean house. Old Harwich really surprised me with the architecture and the interesting pubs nearby. My son cooked every night and said that the kitchen was very well equipped. The one thing that struck me was the sunsets and sunrises on our evening and morning walks because it is on a peninsular the light is quite extraordinary. Harwich is a hidden gem and is full of maritime history and this property sits right in the middle of it.

  • Lovely and clean house in a nice quiet street. Everything you could need is available in the house with high end appliances and amenities. Paul was very accommodating and responded very quickly.

    Chloe2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We went to Harwich for the international Shanty festival. Everywhere was busy and this house is fabulously located, right in the Old Town by all of the pubs so we didn’t have to use the car at all. The house is very clean, excellent beds and looks newly refurbished. I think because it may be new there were a couple of things that can be easily amended. Although the house sleeps 8 and is very spacious there is only a table with four chairs so we couldn’t all have breakfast together. It didn’t really matter to us as we ate out but might for people who wanted to eat in. Also only 2 wine glasses - small things easily remedied.

The room we offer is spacious, light and airy, with stunning sea views across to Felixstowe and beyond. You can sit and watch the sailing boats, whilst enjoying a freshly brewed coffee or tea. The king size bed has fine white linens and there are good quality towels too for you to use in the well appointed bathroom. Here you can relax in the deep roll top bath or feel invigorated in the power shower.
The property is set out over 5 floors and the sea view room is on the second floor, hence the wonderful sea views, this however means that you do have quite a few stairs to climb, There is ample street parking in Harwich and there is usually parking available either directly outside, a short walk away or in the car park, which charges £3 per 24 hours.
Historic Harwich is a thriving, busy port, rich in culture from artists in residence, exhibitions, live music and much more. There are many bars and restaurants for you to explore, most of which have very good reputation for good quality food including locally caught fish and seafood. The property is situated on the seafront, 20m from the green, 50m from the beach and is in the heart of Old Harwich. You can explore The Pier, Lighthouses, Maritime Museum, Electric Palace theatre amongst many others, or just take a wander and admire the history and architecture. The Old Harwich community is very friendly, you will find yourself talking and making friends with the locals in no time.
  • A warm welcome awaits from Diane and Matthew (and Bertie the Cockapoo). More like a five star hotel than a B&B. Wonderful huge room with a panoramic view across to Felixstowe docks. An equally amazing bathroom and lovely linen and towels.

    Graham2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. I can recommend this with on a 10/10 Base. Totally worth driving 12 hours there from Germany. Would do it again :) Thank you so much!

    Kaan2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I have never been at such a great AirBnB! Incredible rooms, awesome view and Diane is such a lovely host! Absolutely highly recommend!

  • A really enjoyable stay at Diane’s home she was quick to respond to our request and very helpful when we arrived. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and fully equipped with lovely bed linen and towels also tea and coffee making facilities. Diane supplied fresh milk and extra bottled water which we weren’t expecting such a nice touch. Both Diane and husband were so welcoming we would definitely stay at their home again - just perfect!!

    Connie2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous location with very kind hosts and a warm welcome! We regretted staying only one night and would love to come back. The room is cozy, the view so pretty, especially at night. We absolutely loved the bathtub and of course Bertie the dog!

    Andre2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were privileged to be Diane’s first guests, and can highly recommend it to anyone. Diane and family are friendly and welcoming. We were thrilled with the view over the sandy beach and Kings Quay, with the brilliant backdrop of Felixstowe Port on the other side. The bed was very comfy, sheets of highest quality and fluffy towels. The bathroom is a fabulous nod to the period style of the house, with a roll top bath and a modern shower too. It was the perfect base for the Redoubt Fort beer festival, exploring Old Harwich, and the maritime festival.

The Railway Cottage is a simply stunning, unique space set across three floors that makes for an ideal spot by the sea to enjoy a stay away. Flooded with natural light, along with cosy and comfortable rooms, this really is a place to retreat from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a relaxing trip.
Over three floors, there is so much to enjoy here. The ground floor comprises of the kitchen and living room; a really cosy, communal area to spend time in. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, washer/dryer, dishwasher and oven. The living room has comfortable, squashy seating and a small dining table. The first bedroom is on the first floor, and is a huge space to enjoy. With a lovely large double bed, storage spaces and seating areas, you could happily spend your days relaxing in here. The bathroom of the property is also on this floor and is an equally relaxing space; with a bath/shower unit, toilet and basin, there are additionally many homely touches to make this a room to behold in itself. On the second floor are the next two bedrooms; there is another huge double space up here, completely unique to the first bedroom but equal in size. The single bedroom is the perfect space for a cosy nights stay for either adult or child. Outside there is a delightful courtyard to enjoy the sun when it is shining.
The Railway Cottage is situated in Old Harwich, which is a picturesque area steeped in history. A mere 100 yards from the entrance to Little Church Street is the sea, where you can watch the comings and goings of the boats. There are many fantastic eateries in Old Harwich, including The Pier, The Alma and Thai Up At Quay to name a few. You will also find the oldest cinema in Britain in Old Harwich, The Electric Palace, where there is always a variety of events taking place.
  • Georgia’s place is really cosy, and comfortable and stylishly decorated. The kitchen has everything you could think of. We stayed over Christmas with two small children, and had plenty of space to cook a festive meal. We really appreciated the extra festive touches too. Highly recommend as a home base in Harwich. Thanks very much :)

  • Lovely homely place, stylishly designed. Comfortable beds and good sized bathroom all very clean. Well equipped kitchen and the starter pack was a lovely touch. The cottage is in a great location to explore Harwich and walking distance to all the nearby pubs, most of which serve great food.

  • This is a beautiful cottage - quirky and full of interesting artefacts but still cosy and comfortable. The bedrooms are well sized, as is the bathroom. All facilities are excellent and the standard of cleanliness exceptional. Well located in Harwich Old Town, the cottage gives easy access to local pubs and restaurants (try the Alma and Pier ) as well as to bracing walks along the seafront. Harwich is my home town and it was lovely to stay in such comfort. All excellent. Kim

Dovercourt is a very old town listed within the Domesday Book of 1086, though the nearby historic port of Harwich is better known. Dovercourt Hall is a timber framed building with a wealth of exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace. The property was built around 1600, and is a Grade II listed building with further additions later in the 17th century. Originally built as a farmhouse, the surrounding land was farmed until the 1950s, and is now set in an acre of grounds with a natural pond. During the long history of the property, further renovations were carried out during 2015 which lead to the completion of Dovercourt Hall Cottage. This delightful property, one of a pair, is adjacent to the owner’s home and comprises four bedrooms, a spacious living room with open fire and an open plan kitchen/dining area. Decorated and furnished to a very good standard, guests can enjoy up-to-date amenities but still admire the character and charm of this historic cottage. The large garden is the ideal place to sit out and enjoy a lovely summer’s evening with friends and family, hosting a barbecue and enjoying relaxing in the seating area. Enjoy either an award-winning beach by the leading lighthouses or walk in the opposite direction onto the natural foreshore, both are just over the road across the playing field from the cottage. Also within a 5-minute walk from the cottage is a large range of activities, swimming pool, gym, squash and badminton courts, plus seasonal activities include roller skating, a putting green, a boating lake and skateboard park. Walk to historic Harwich, visit the Mayflower Project where a full-size replica of the famous ship that took the pilgrim fathers to America is being built or the Redoubt Napoleonic Fort and other museums. See a movie in the Electric Palace, one of the oldest cinemas in the country, built in 1911. From the Ha’penny pier visitors can take the foot ferry to Felixstowe. Clacton or Walton with their piers and traditional seaside amusements are within 15 miles journey. Also well worth a visit is Colchester, 20 miles away, the oldest recorded town in Britain with plenty of history, a large castle and shopping, as well as a zoo. Constable Country, Ipswich and pretty Suffolk villages all are within 35 minutes’ drive. The nearest golf club is less than 1½ miles away, or Frinton-on-Sea, which has two golf courses, is 14 miles way. Beach 200 yards. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

  • Julie is great company and a fab host. Lovely home and room was perfect for my two nights stay

    Jade2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was superb. Julie's place is very comfortable and stylish, sparkling clean and set in a good residential area less than a mile from the town centre. We arranged with Julie to cook in her kitchen, which was a huge plus as we stayed for three nights and I don't get on with takeaways or eating out more than once a weekend! The bed is comfortably firm and the shower in the room is excellent. There is a small basin in the room but the toilet is in the shared bathroom, although this wasn't a problem as Julie uses the downstairs toilet when she has guests. Check-in and check-out were easy and there is off street parking in front of the house. Highly recommended.

    Paula2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is a great host, very friendly and welcoming, immediately making me feel at ease. (My first Airbnb booking) Her house is lovely and everything is very clean. The bedroom is spacious and well equipped and bed is very comfortable. I slept really well! I was especially lucky to enjoy her delicious homemade fresh fruit salad for breakfast in the beautiful sunny garden. I am sure you won't regret booking with her

  • We had a lovely three-night stay with Julie. The bedroom was large, beautifully decorated with its own shower and wash basin. Everything was superbly clean. Julie was a great host - chatty, interested and extremely warm and welcoming. Julie went out of her way to be helpful to us including giving us a lift into town so we could visit our elderly relative the evening we arrived. Thanks again!

  • I had a lovely restful stay with Julie who couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. The house is in a quiet area of Felixstowe and my room was very homely and overlooked the garden with a double bed, shower and sink. The room is simply decorated in a seaside theme. Julie allowed use of the kitchen although I only needed to make tea. We sat and chatted on her patio over a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit. It was a delight to meet her and hear of her travels.

The Goodlife Guesthouse truly is the secret gem of Dovercourt and Harwich. Situated in the High Street close to award winning beaches, a beautiful seafront, and excellent restaurants, the newly converted Goodlife Guesthouse is a great place to relax. Stansted International Airport is less than one hour away and Central London a mere ninety minutes by rail. The international ferry terminal to Holland, Continental Europe and the world beyond is virtually five minutes away.
Comfortable 4ft bed Flat screen tv, tea/coffee facilities
Harwich is justly proud of its rich maritime history and this tradition continues today, as it is now the UK's second busiest passenger ferry port. From Ha'Penny Pier Visitor Centre on the Quay there are guided walking tours throughout the summer. Just to the south of Harwich lies the older town of Dovercourt, which has been settled since prehistoric times. Particular features of the town are the iron lighthouses or 'Leading Lights' which sit along the picturesque Blue Flag beach.

  • We were very pleasantly surprised by the flat. It had everything we needed and more. It was spacious (even with 4 adults and a child), immaculately clean, and very stylish. The beds were very comfortable and the wardrobe space was astonishing. The bathroom with the big shower is a dream. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for 5 and it even had a good sized freezer, which made it easier for us. With the park at the back, ideal for people with children. It was quiet and peaceful. Good size TV and and good WiFi speed (my son wanted me to accentuate that). We loved the view at the back and the front. The hosts were kind and helpful and even let us check in a bit earlier. Little details here and there made the stay even more pleasant (thank you for the delicious biscuits) We can honestly recommend this accommodation to anyone staying in Harwich & Dovercourt and hope to revisit soon. It made a special holiday / family visit even more special. I would like to say something negative to make this review sound more honest, but I can't find a single fault that I could point out. It was perfect for us.

Our lovely cottage with courtyard garden is on a quiet street in old Harwich, just one road back from the pier. Excellent pubs and beach staggeringly close, 5 minute walk to train station, 2 stops to international ferry to Holland, London 1hr20m. The cottage has three bedrooms over two floors (with very steep stairs) and is suitable for children and well behaved, house trained pets.
The cottage is close to the international ferry services (2 stops & 5 minutes on the train), beaches, excellent pubs and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and reputedly this coast of Essex has the sunniest microclimate in Britain.
Beautiful scenery and architecture, Harwich is a quirky historic town. The local people are friendly and welcoming. The scenery is constantly changing from the pier, docks and seascapes, and we have a lovely foreshore with rare plants and lots of sea birds. The Electric Palace cinema built in 1911, and the pubs, cafes and restaurants are great. Ice cream on the Pier highly recommended.
  • This cottage is fantastic cosy as can be .Sarah and clive were amazing hosts and there local info guide is spot on my colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this cottage

  • We had a brilliant couple of days staying at Sarah’s Cosy Fisherman’s Cottage. The space is brilliantly used, with very thoughtful touches from the host and right in the middle of such a quaint part of Harwich. Highly recommended for a getaway.

  • The centre of old Harwich is really interesting and it is easy to get out and visit some very historic spots whilst in the evening trying all the (many) local pubs and restaurants without using the car.

  • We loved this cozy little cottage in the heart of old Harwich. Sarah lives next door and was available to meet us and give us a tour of the place. She left eggs and bacon and bread in the fridge for us on our first day which was a lovely touch. The place was as advertised in the listing so yes the stairs are steep but easy enough to negotiate with a little practice. There's an open fire and plenty of logs in the woodpile to burn. The place was spotlessly clean and the kitchen and bathroom facilities totally fine. It was nice also to have a dishwasher and small washing machine as we were staying over a week. Many thanks Sarah and Happy New Year !

  • Lovely quaint cottage in the centre of Old Harwich . Close to bars and good restaurants. Has everything you need . Stairs are steep . Very comfortable .

  • This is a great little cottage. Full of character and a wonderful open fire! It's true about the steep stairs in the cottage but my daughter thought they were great! The cottage had lots of thoughtful items such as Tupperware and clingfilm that meant we could make lunchboxes for a little day trip to the zoo. The bread, milk and eggs on arrival were a nice touch too. The host was very quick to reply to my booking and was so flexible and friendly.

  • We really enjoyed staying - great location - very quiet. Great kitchen and bathroom/shower. Parking was easy and nearby. Would stay again and happy to recommend.

We moved out of London recently having fallen in love with our cottage, and we'd like to share the space. We have a spare double room with mezzanine sleeping platform, and living space underneath (with small double sofa bed) that tags onto our modern kitchen/dining area overlooking our garden. We live here full time and use the kitchen and bathroom. Manningtree is a lovely town, in the heart of the countryside but with plenty to do and only an hour from London. We hope you will feel welcome.
The room itself means you can keep yourself to yourself, or you're welcome to make use of the shared areas.
Manningtree is a quaint small town, but it has everything you need. It's on edge of the Stour river in the beautiful countryside of the Essex/Suffolk border. We particularly recommend Lucca for a woodfired pizza or The Mistley Thorn if you want something a little more up-market. Estuary - a new tapas & wine/cocktail bar - and The Red Lion pub are well worth a visit with many local ales and gins. Constable country is only a walk away. If you want to make a day of it, we'd recommend a 4-hour circular walk to Dedham, with a lunchtime stop at one of its lovely pubs, and back past Willy Lott's Cottage.
  • Kezia and Sam were a warm welcoming couple with a really unique and beautiful place. Nice location, really quirky part of the house to stay and super friendly.

  • A delightful place to stay. I felt welcomed and very comfortable, and it was a really peaceful night's sleep. I will definitely reserve my next visit to Manningtree here if it is available.

  • We visited Manningtree for a family do, though the highlight was definitely Kezia and Sam's warm welcome and hospitality. We slept really well here and enjoyed watching the garden birds (a rare treat for big city folk). Manningtree has some well established cafes and restaurants and we enjoyed the many hours spent in the Red Lion pub, just a few mins down the road from Kezia and Sams cottage :)

  • A lovely house in a quiet great part of town. Very convenient and pleasant short walk to the train station fo rocking and going. Very generous and kind hosts.

  • Relaxed hosts and a character cottage that was perfectly placed for our needs. 5 minute walk into Manningtree which is a lovely little atmospheric town. 4 miles from the Dedham to Flatford walk which was simply beautiful. Good value accommodation for this area.

  • Very good and fast communications. The hosts weren’t there when we stayed but self check-in was easy. The space was great, with the room clean and tidy. The shared spaces are very much a lived in house full of personal belongings and a bit of the mess of day to day living as one would expect but nothing at all offputting. It is after all a proper Airbnb room in a lived in house rather than a hotel like or bnb run as a business. It looks like the hosts are lovely people and the note left invited guests to share a vegetarian meal if they are cooking (just let them know so they can cook enough it said) we would love meet them and share a meal on another future visit. Manningtree has some lovely walks along the estuary and the Pizza place in town is fantastic.

Situated in the heart of Old Harwich this double fronted Grade II listed property offers spacious accommodation over three floors. Ideally located with access to Harwich's local bars and restaurants(of which there are many!), The Quay and promenade. Great for families or couples a like Harwich has a variety of things for everyone to do.
There is a secure side and rear shared courtyard.
The Bakers is situated right in the middle of Old Harwich with access to its many bars and restaurants. At the end of the road is the Half Penny Pier and RNLI shop. You can book a heritage trail walk at the visitor centre on the pier on Saturdays during May to September for a small fee. The promenade is a short walk away and this stretches from Harwich right along to Earlhams marshland for those who want a longer walk. There are many parks and gardens dotted around so plenty of space for the children to run round. The Electric Palace is situated in Kings Quay Street and is one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK. Currently closed until June 2019 for major restoration works funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
  • This is a lovely, quirky three storey townhouse and former bakers shop in the heart of Old Harwich with views over the rooftops to the charming Georgian church ( impressive with its spire lit up at night.) It’s incredibly convenient for everything the area has to offer with all amenities close by. It’s half a minute to the old lighthouse and the Green beyond with a lovely play area for little ones, and fantastic views across to Felixstowe and out to sea. The beds and furnishings are very comfy (the huge sofa with reclining seats is to die for!) and the cinema screen TV with Netflix makes for a nice evening in after a long walk around the shoreline footpath to Dovercourt bay and beyond. With an excellent fish and chip shop 20 steps away, that’s your evening sorted! The Turkish meze bar 15 minute walk away is also a great place to eat. There’s lots of thoughtful touches and it’s very well equipped and spotlessly clean, the usual very high standard from Valentines properties that I’ve come to expect. Highly recommended.
