  • If you want somewhere you can chill out in front of a fire watching some Netflix then this is the place. Located in a quiet countryside area, it is peaceful and relaxing. It is a 10 minute drive from a few towns and 20 minutes to the nearest city so it’s not too far into the middle of nowhere. The highlight for me and my boyfriend was the big old school bath (I had 2 baths during our short stay!!) Linn and Stuart were the most amazing hosts. I’ve honestly never met friendlier hosts! They even invited us into their house for a chat when we were checking out. And their dog was the most friendliest thing giving us lots of hugs and kisses on arrival. Highly recommend this place 😌

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is a lovely wee spot for a getaway. Full of nice little touches and Linn is a lovely host. Would love to be back at some point.

  • We had a lovely stay, Linn was so friendly and welcoming, the fire was lit for us arriving so it was nice and cosy and there were lovely little thoughtful touches such as scones and fresh milk being left. Linn also responded very quickly to any messages. Overall it was a great stay and we’d definitely stay again!

    Sarah2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Linn and Stuart's place was the best spot for a weekend of utter relaxation. They were so lovely and welcoming and had scones there for us and had thought of everything. It really felt like a home away from home, I'd definitely recommend it as a fabulous place to stay. Pet friendly was a huge bonus too 🐈

    Sally2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • Fantastic spot to curl up and get away from everything. Booked it just after Christmas and it was exactly what we needed. Lovely restored byre with fabulous wood buring stove which included ample supply of coal and logs. All the tv and wifi you need, bed fantastic and overall feel of the whole place is just homely. Location is perfect, just 10 mins to Hillsborough, and 5 to Dromore and Dromara. Belfast 20 or so mins away. All easy drives. Linn and Stewart are so hospitable and make you feel right at home straight away. Couldn't have asked for better. Hope to see you again soon Linn and Steward...perhaps with an additional little person in tow! Thanks again, Eoin and Linda

Our place is 4 star Tourist Board accredited farmhouse, close to the Dromara Hills, Slieve Croob Scenic Loop, Newcastle, Castlewellan Forest Park, Mourne Mountains, Hillsborough. We have a silver Green Tourism award and Welcome Host accreditation Our place is good for couples, business travellers, families, pets, golfers film crews and cyclists
Our accommodation is very rural, on a working farm, allowing guests to experience peaceful country life. They are welcome to experience or ignore farming culture! While we are in the country and a car is a necessity, we are a good base for visitors who want to explore most of Northern Ireland and are within easy reach both of Eire and the famous Causeway Coast. We are only 6-9 miles from the main A1 - Belfast/ Dublin road, have ample private parking, can provide secure accommodation for bicycles, motorbikes, prize winning dogs, even for larger "show" animals if required.
Our neighbourhood is very scenic farmland, with the Dromara hills nearby. Lots of locals walk dogs on the road and are always friendly and curious to meet and talk to visitors. There are sheep, cattle and horses in abundance, not to forget our own donkey "Florence" who loves a carrot, apple or grape treat. The road is an important and challenging cycle route /the drumlins of County Down
  • Annette’s house is very comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. We received a warm welcome from Annette with some delicious homemade scones! The fire in the stove was ready to light, even though the house was warm and cosy, it was a real treat. Lots of information was provided on the local area and things to do. A wonderful stay in a beautiful area!

    Cathy2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Anette’s house. Anette was great communication wise before our stay, check in was quick and efficient, so was the check out. The house was very comfortable, clean, it had everything you needed.

    Natalia2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home from home. Super clean, lovely comfy beds, best shower! Hosts are brilliant, even leaving homemade scones on arrival. Beautiful towels and bedding. Our best air bnb to date! Great value for money and we would definitely stay again. Only thing to note if you are travelling with younger children and or dogs the outside space does access straight onto the road.

    Harry2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing! Very clean, comfortable and quiet. I had an excellent experience. I strongly recommend Annete's place.

  • This was a great place, super cosy and comfortable. It is quite a drive to places (only 20 or so to Newcastle). However the location is perfect for a refreshing getaway and is set in beautiful scenery. Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly also.

  • Beautiful country home with amazing hosts

    Peter2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house sparkling clean. Felt like home from home. Decor was fabulous. Comfortable beds and linen was spotlessly clean and fresh. Great shower and lovely clean towels. Everything you could need was supplied. Only two of us stayed but plenty of room and own space for families sharing, what with the two sitting rooms available. House was warm and very comfortable. Traveled with show dogs which were made very welcome. Handy security light and level concreted ground around the house so it was very safe underfoot.

    Dawn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house was impeccable the location perfect and I can’t sing praises high enough of Annette and Ivan. What a wonderful couple!

A Victorian mid-terrace linen workers house, in a beautifully built row of houses dating back to the 1850's, with great detailing and plasterwork. We have fully renovated the house 9 months ago and have just furnished it freshly for the Airbnb market. We have used the best bedding and mattresses, which are hotel quality, we like our guests to have a good night's sleep! You are in a very good central location to explore the country only 3 miles from Hillsborough and 15 from Belfast!
Entrance is straight into the living room, which is nicely furnished, a set of not too steep stairs takes you up to the bedrooms, 2 rooms, 1 with a double and 1 with a king size bed. Downstairs you have a fully fitted and well equipped kitchen and a spacious back hall with a large bathroom. All recently renovated and newly furnished throughout!
Lovely quiet and picturesque country area, peaceful and a very safe setting. Dromore is great stop off town between the Irish border and Belfast. Also it is a very historic and pretty Ulster village.

The village of Hillsborough, or more specifically Hillsborough Castle itself is a stunning Georgian village. Hillsborough has featured prominently in the peace process during the last few years as the venue for many important talks, and it's an interesting village with lots of pleasant 18th-century buildings. Dromore is also a pretty little market town full of history, situated beside the river Lagan.

Restaurant located in the court yard for breakfast and daytime snacks. Hot tub is always a bonus after a long day exploring the Antrim Coast. Perfect location for families with its large gated garden when swings and slide to entertain the kids.

  • We really enjoyed staying on a farm seeing all the animals and kicking a ball with Sam, the lovely friendly dog. The cottage is well appointed and spotlessly clean.

    Eilis2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in one bedroom cottage. It had own bathroom with bath and separate shower. The house has all we needed for relaxing stay. Biggest highlight was the dog, Sammy. He loves to play football.

  • Brian's cottage is so cozy and charming you feel transported back in time, except not that far back because the WIFI keeps you as connected as you wish to be. The kitchen served us well for making meals and the availability of a washer & dry made helped us refresh our compact travel wardrobe! We had a great sleep each night and the bathtub is great for a leisurely soak after a day of hiking about. A gem of a spot. We'd highly recommend.

  • Had a wonderful 11 days at Pike Cottage. The place is clean, cosy and very well equipped. The location is very peaceful but you are only 30 minutes drive from Belfast city and the port and 40 minutes from the International airport. John and Roberta are great host. They live across the lane so are on hand to give help and advice when you need it but are not intrusive in any way. I would happily recommend this place to everyone.

  • We spent a lovely week in Northern Ireland and John and Roberta were excellent hosts. The weather during the week was terrible but the cottage was warm, cosy and welcoming. We had our 9 month old Grandson with us and the house had everything we needed to make us all comfortable. The house was quiet, spotless and very well equipped and the views were amazing. Thanks again.

  • Pike Cottage is in a wonderful idyllic rural setting with spectacular countryside and views. Set beside Lough Aghery, the wildlife is so varied, you'll expect to see everything from Pheasants and to Otters its great for walks across the countryside. The cottage is well equipped, clean, spacious and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the log fire, which John made sure was well stocked. The bedrooms and bathrooms are fantastic. It really has everything you need for a warm relaxing stay. John and Roberta are the perfect hosts. We loved our stay in Pike Cottage and recommend to anyone.

  • This is our 2nd time at Sunnyvale, and Roberta and Terry are the most wonderful and caring hosts we have ever met. Always there to help, and ready for a good chat. The house is located in the beautiful countryside and has a panoramic look over the mountains, and with cute horses and sheep nearby. The house itself has a good layout, nice and comfy beds, fully-equipped kitchen and is spotless. A very good place to relax - it was our 2nd stay, but definitely not the last.

  • Roberta and husband are excellent hosts. We were welcomed with a warm hand shake and Easter bunnies. My wife is a quilter, and I asked Roberta about any local material shops, not being a quilter she didn't know but was back in five minutes with the details of a local shop, thank you. The house was spotless and very well equipped. We really needed to bring nothing as Roberta had thought of everything; from butter in the cupboard to spare toothbrushes, shampoo to a great welcome basket of bread, biscuits, crisps and cereal. With tea coffee and milk supplied breakfast was sorted. It made a great base for a couple of days break, thanks.

  • This was a lovely place to stay, full of thoughtful extras, with a warm welcome and laid-back, accommodating help.

  • Roberta is a superhost in every sense of the word. We were made to feel welcome and instantly at home thanks to a number of thoughtful touches. The house was decorated for hallowe’en with treats for the kids, and a thoughtful welcome basket greeted us. The house was spotless and well provisioned with everything we could need. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay there.

  • It was a 5 star experience. This airbnb exceeded my expectations. One of the best I have been to so far. The hosts go the extra mile to makes you feel at home and ensure you have everything that you need and more. The location is ideal as you have the lovely views of the country side while still being close to towns. Annelize's home comes highly recomended.

  • Super room with great views modern spacious clean everything one could want

    Jon2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely peaceful location. It is certainly an escape to the country. The way the accommodation is laid out is excellent. We where at one end of the property and were are not disturbed. Totally private. We couldn’t even hear any movement from the host and her family. Annelize is perfect. Couldn’t do enough for us. Stella and Zola (the basset hounds) were so loveable, my daughter adored them. I would highly recommend this place. Can’t say enough about it.

    Evelyn2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, clean. Lot of space. It was family with 2 kids. The host is very nice

    Anna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Annelize's home exceeded our expectations. The room was very clean, newly renovated, and very spacious. The property is beautiful! Great views of the countryside. Annelize and her husband were very welcoming and helped us find a restaurant nearby that was open on a bank holiday. The only downside was that we couldn't connect to the wifi in our room. But with views like that, who needs it. We would definitely stay there again.

    Lindsay2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Annelize is a very friendly and open host. Our communciation was easy and she replied quickly. The place itself is somewhat hidden, but through a google maps tag she sent me we had no trouble at all finding it. * thumbs up * The room with the additional kitchenette is wonderful. Great picturesque views over northern Irish plains in several directions and a very calm surrounding - with mostly sheep around. ;-) We were three people, a married couple and one single person, and had plenty of space for the three of us. We were visiting a friend in Dromore, which is 10-15 min by car, just what we expected. A good place for a calm stay for a couple of days!

    Sven2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Annelize place was perfect! Annelize and her husband are super friendly, their two kids funny and the dogs have a lot of love to give. The room was big and clean, the bed very comfortable and the view gorgeous, with amazing sunsets. We had our own privet bathroom, a fridge and a kitchenette all for us. The house is isolated in the countryside, in a quiet and beautiful place, but be aware that there is no way to go there by using public transportation. We didn't know that before having the exact address, but fortunately Annelize was kind enough to pick us up at Banbridge when we arrived, and she kindly drove us in town whenever we wanted. I would strongly recommend this place to people who are looking for a nice place to sleep while exploring Northen Ireland, or people who just want to escape the city and rest in the countryside. Thanks again to Annelize and Dewet for welcoming us !

  • I would highly recommend Lorraine’s cottage. It was stylish yet homely and spotless.Lorraine very kindly had tea ,coffee ,milk and many more food supplies there for us ,which was so welcome after travelling. Its very near the Banbridge Outlet and only twenty minutes from Belfast. The only downside is the wi-fi which was not great but if you don’t require it then its the perfect place to have a break. We would definitely book again.

  • "Tell future travelers about what they can expect at Lorraine's place"....expect a seamless, easy wonderful experience. Expect cleanliness beyond expectation, fabulous amenities that include washer, dryer, full kitchen, iron, ironing board, blow dryer...on and on. Quaint cozy ambience with an adorable electric fireplace/stove that casts lots of heat if desired. A TV that offers great stations, not just local. An onsite dog named Boss that if your lucky will greet you and if you are luckier he will bring over something in his mouth that he drops before your feet so you can play fetch :) This was nothing short of a perfect Airbnb experience. Do not hesitate to book this lovely cottage.

    Lisa2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Let me begin with, don’t hesitate, book this place now. We ended our trip around all of Ireland in this Cottage. It was, to say the least, out favorite Airbnb of any one we have used around the world. The home is very comfortable and interior is out of a HGTV show. I had to take pictures to bring some ideas back home. Anyway, you can’t go wrong with this spot. There is even an awesome dog named Boss who can keep you throwing sticks for hours. Just go out and follow him around, he will guide you to his stick, just warm up because he won’t stop!

  • A beautiful location. A really comfortable bed. I had an early night, intending to watch tv. Next thing I knew I woke up to my alarm. Slept like a baby the whole night. The hosts are friendly but professional. If you like animals you will love this home. Horses happily laze about at their stable. Funny cats come for a pet in the garden, but only if you invite them. You are offered breakfast and the host welcome you to use the dinning room with tv any time. I loved it. 5 stars for sure. Im returning soon and really looking forward to it.

  • The Barn is a lovely place - quiet and relaxing, it is a good place to experience Irish farmhouse life. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and they have a lovely dog that made our puppy welcome. The house had lots of board games which our son enjoyed playing. For us it was a great place to relax after long dog walks and visiting family & friends. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.

  • This is our groups 4th time staying here and it is always a great experience. Hope to be back again soon.

  • We stayed at a time of crisp and starry autumnal nights, when Lucinda’s place was a bright and warm haven at the end of a cold day. Deliciously deep mattresses, crisp clean and white bed cottons, a homely and useful welcome pack (eggs from the hens in the garden, butter, bread, home made jam, milk) all made us feel so welcome. Tea time round the large farmhouse kitchen table was the highlight of every day with ample space for old friends and relatives to visit us whilst we were there. Lucinda is the perfect hostess, full to bursting with local knowledge and recommendations. The barn, the perfect location at the hub of the old farm site yet entirely private and secluded for those who want to feel they got away from it all. Hillsborough Castle is a delight, and the village a real gem for visitors to County Down.

  • Absolutely beautiful ‘barn’ set in a picturesque location. Thank you both for allowing us to share your beautiful home. Overwhelmed by your generosity and the treats and finishing touches you left us. My friend dreamed of visiting Ireland, staying in the middle of nowhere in a lovely cottage., you succeeded in that and more. We are extremely thankful and look forward to seeing you again, you’ve not seen the last of us!

    Michelle2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place in a great location. Lucinda makes you very welcome and the house is spotlessly clean, with great facilities. Especially perfect for families with young children as Lucinda has made a lot of effort to provide things for them to do.

    Louise2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A spacious lovely place to stay if you’re looking for a rural setting with lots of charm. Lucinda is very easy going and there are plenty of games to keep the kids amused as well as the trampoline and collecting eggs from the chickens. It really is the place to have a relaxing holiday with only a short drive into Hillsborough and surrounding areas. We took our 14 year old twin daughters and our mad Dalmatian and they all loved it. Would highly recommend ! Thanks Lucinda, Jill, Mark and the girls X

Scion Hill Gate Lodge is 5* accomodation situated at the top of a long tree lined avenue leading to the Gentlemans Residence, Scion Hill. Built in 1840 for George Waugh a JP it served as a Porters Lodge for the main house. It is a listed building. The Gatelodge has a private entrance and parking to one side.
In 2010, Scion Hills Owners, David amd Esther Ervin decided it was time to restore it and offer it as Self Catering Accomodation. They have done this by completely renovating the original building while adding an extensive new wing. This means that although the Gatelodge retains many of its original features, including High Ceilings, it also provides all those Modern Luxuries we have come to expect.
Outsides the views from the front of the Gatelodge are spectacular. There are many local Golf Courses and places to fish. In addition the Gatelodge is handy for all the major shopping towns. There are also many opportunities for Hillwalking on your doorstep including of course the Dromara and Mourne Mountains.
  • We stayed for the weekend with our dogs, as we were attending 2 dog shows nearby. The house is beautifully finished, well equipped and was perfectly located for our requirements. Esther was a superb host, and even left us milk in the fridge for a cuppa when we arrived. The beds were also so comfortable, and the wood burner stove a welcome addition to a chilly evening. I would have no hesitation in recommending the property, and we hope to be back same time next year. Thanks Esther! Simon, Hannah, Margo & Louise x

A lovely space with everything you need there, shops not a far drive and a lovely area. Anne was there if any issue come up (which they did not) and I was at ease the whole trip. Super clean, loved it :)

A delightful cottage with fist class hosts that respect your privacy but are there should you need it. Facilities inside are just what you need, crockery and cutlery are spotless. Well recommended and I will return.

  • This is a beautiful traditional cottage, beautifully restored and with all the modern comforts you need. Very comfortable, perfectly clean and very relaxing place to stay. We just had two nights and wished we'd had longer. Carolyn was really welcoming and friendly and had some great local recommendations. The house is in a great location, it feels rural and is lovely and quiet but only a very short drive into Hillsborough village where there are great pubs, restaurants and shops and good walks close by. We'd really like to see more of this area and would definitely want to stay here again - highly recommend!

  • Brigid’s place was an excellent base for us visiting friends in Hillsborough. The room is lovely and Brigid is an excellent friendly host. Breakfast was a real treat! We’d love to stay again

    Andre Eloy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had the loveliest time just 20 minutes drive from our home in Belfast. It felt like a proper mini break. Brigid’s house is in a beautiful stately spot by the river and is only 10 minutes walk into Hillsborough where we did a tour of the castle, drank Guinness in the Hillside pub, poked around the dinky shops and had dinner in Hara (it’s a lovely restaurant in the lonely planet guide.) Brigid made us feel very welcome in her beautiful home. (The best air Bnb we have stayed in yet) The bedroom is stunning with a chaise longue, a walk in wardrobe and individual bath robes. The bed was very comfortable, we slept like logs. The continental breakfast was lovely and hit the spot. We felt that our stay was really good value for money and I can not recommend a mini break at Brigid’s highly enough. We were sorry to have to go home and back to porridge!

  • Brigid is a wonderful and pleasant host. My partner has stayed there before but this was the first time for me. I was welcomed with open arms and my stay could not have been better. Brigid attended to our needs with ease, went the extra mile to help with food shopping and laundry needs, as well as exploring Northern Ireland. We felt comfortable and ease when at home. Her home is clean relaxing and our room was spacious and well equipped. Brigid is great company and we shared many stories of travels and life. She is conveniently located as it is easy to get to Lisburn, Drumore, Belfast and other places from Hillsborough. The Fort and surrounding park is a great place for running, long walks or a picnic. We will definitely be staying with her on our subsequent visits.

    Thea2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was my 1st time using airb&b and all I can say is wow, the host bridget made homemade shortbread, a beautiful bowl of fruit, fresh flowers all in your room along with beautiful bathroom products, loccitaine hand soap, korres shower gel.... and to top it off it's set right on the river bed... beautiful.... would 100% recommend.

    Jacqueline2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Brigid house was like staying home away from home. She is the best host we have ever had! With her lovely and caring attitude she made our staying at her place really warm and homey. Brigid took care of us really well – all those rich breakfasts, recommendations where to go and what to see and interesting stories about North-Ireland. Also Hillsborough village itself is indescribably beautiful place – with all the neighbourhood, beautiful houses and gardens we felt like we’ve got the vision why everybody loves North Ireland. We more than recommend staying at Brigid house!

  • Lovely place, hosts were great. Welcome tray and morning breakfast basket was wonderful I do believe it’s better suited for one person to be honest, as the bedroom really isn’t big enough for two single beds. My 13 year old daughter found the bedroom claustrophobic and certainly missed having a tv to watch Having said that, if it was just a short stay ie a day or two then it would spot on. We had stayed for 4 days.

  • Chris and his lovely wife made me feel so welcome and at home. Their place is designed for those who love being in the countryside, who love the peace and quiet one needs when on vacation. Anything you need help with or finding out in the local community, they gladly go out of their way to do that for you. I was there for finding out family history. They took the time to help me locate places, such as my family's church, plus gave me current history on what is happening in the community today.

  • The cottage is perfect. The cleanliness was second to none. The welcome our dog got was fantastic and the areas for her to run around in were brilliant. The outside hot and cold taps were well used. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. The offer of having the log burner lit for our arrival was an especially nice touch. The beds were comfy and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The only problem we had was finding the gate off the main road but that was purely due to horrendous fog which is nobody’s fault. I would recommend the cottage to anyone, not just dog owners.

  • A lovely little spot, close to the charming Hillsborough, set in lovely countryside. Very friendly host who made us really welcome.

  • Carolyn & Adam are superb hosts who are warm & welcoming. The Stables is a quaint little cottage - the perfect spot for a quiet weekend away and close to the quaint village of Hillsborough; think ‘chocolate box village’! The stove is the cherry on the cake - simply divine! The cottage is dog-friendly and our little dog enjoyed a lovely weekend away too. There’s some excellent dog-friendly pubs in Hillsborough so if you’ve got a furry friend that you’d love to come with you in a relaxing break, this is the perfect place for you!

  • We had a great stay at Carolyn's place. We were made very welcome by Carolyn, her husband Adam and spook their dog. I love places that are dog friendly and our Saluki hound loved it here. Hillsborough itself is extremely dog friendly. The accomadation is a beautifully converted stable, very modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. The wood stove is a great touch. Great mini guide as prepared by Carolyn guided us to some great attractions and excellent meals. Hillsborough is a beautiful part of Ireland.
