  • Jam, chutney, marmalade making workshops
In the workshop you will learn how to make 2 different preserves; one chutney and one jam. You will have your own sanitised utensils and equipment and you will be spaced out in the kitchen to allow distance between guests - there will be a maximum of 2 guests booked on any course in the preserving workshop. Guided by myself through instruction and demonstration you will prepare and process seasonal fruit and vegetables into delicious preserves that you will take home with you at the end of the day. The day will begin with a tasting session of different types of jams and chutneys. This will be followed by a brief overview of how preserving works, the equipment needed and basic jam/chutney making methods. You will then cook at your own work station, by induction hob or gas hob, in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Throughout the day everything you need to prepare and make your preserves will be supplied, including a restorative cup of tea or coffee. You will make a chutney in the morning followed by a jam after lunch. Having labelled your preserves, you take home all the jars and chutneys you make. Lunch offers another opportunity to sample home made food using seasonal produce. Each workshop is based around ingredients that are seasonally available or preserved through freezing or dehydration. Dates can be arranged to suit you.

  • Alpaca Walking Experience & Tour
At the start of our Alpaca Walking Experience (min. age 12 years old to lead an Alpaca) you will be introduced to the Alpaca story, dip you boots in our disinfectant to protect the farm's biosecurity, and then you will be able to choose which Alpaca you would like to walk. Your guide will explain the do's and don'ts and then you will embark on your 50/60 min walk around our beautiful farm under the watchful eye of your guide Ed, Charlie, or Zac. Stopping along the way to admire the spectacular views, and scenery, you will almost certainly see some of the farm wildlife including Brown Hares, Barn Owls, Grey Partridge, Roe Deer and quite possibly our Curlew and wild hawks. Prior to your walk why not enjoy a sharing platter of Deli meats and cheeses in our Jane's Dome space along with a drink? This is though at extra cost and does need to be pre-booked. At the end of the walk you will also be able to enjoy some home baked cake, or a drink, in our gorgeous Jane's Dome (not included in price) if you'd like to stay a little longer. Other things to note: If coming by car please do not use the postcode with SatNav as most of the houses in and around the village of Acklam seem to share the same one! You'll end up in the middle of the village and may not see anyone to ask directions. Instead, enter Acklam (North Yorkshire) and Thrussendale Rd what3words ///submerge.pits.lollipop

  • Exploring Instagrammable York history
We'll meet outside York Library for a gentle 3 hour Photowalk, giving us loads of time for stories & photos. Along the way, I will provide tips and advice on how to capture captivating images of the city you will want to share. This is a friendly walk in a small group and we always take the time to introduce ourselves so that you will feel part of the group. We start with the stunning vaulted remains of the medieval hospital, the only surviving Roman walls you can walk on and the remains of the Roman fortress. We'll take the secret entrance into the enchanting Museum gardens to walk amongst the ruins of St Mary's Abbey. From there it's Henry VIII's glorious King's Manor and then through the ancient gateway for some spectacular and unusual views of York Minster. We will view the Minster up close and explore the alleyways to find the oldest house in the city, Barley Hall and the historic street of the ladies of the night. We will follow the Viking route back into the bustle, diverting into a stunning hidden church, you'll want to capture before we show you views of the Shambles most visitors miss. Then we take in York's best-kept secret Fossgate, before a hidden alley takes into a stunning Medieval Guildhall followed by a riverside walk to York Castle. Finally, it is a charming riverside walk before we complete our tour in the heart of the cit Other things to note This is mostly an easy walk on solid ground, however, it does involve some stairs to access the city walls. There will be opportunities for additional comfort breaks if required IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY THAT RESIDE TOGETHER YOU CAN BOOK MORE THAN FIVE SPACES. SEND ME AN ENQUIRY
