Places to stay in Bellingham

Places to stay in Bellingham
We built the Tiny Guest House for friends and family and love sharing the space with people traveling to Bellingham. The studio is within walking distance of both WWU (1.0 mile) and downtown (0.8 miles). The Guest House is quite small (200sf), it has a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon on the main floor. And no kitchen.
This small space (200sf) is great for an affordable, private stay in Bellingham. We offer a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon couch/bed on the main floor. Therefore, the space can accommodate four, but is not ideal as the space is small. We do offer a fridge on the porch and a coffee pot, but there is NO kitchen. Guests should also be aware that the lofted bed has sturdy, ladderesque stairs. However, there is not a lot of head room in the loft and it can be difficult to navigate especially if you are elderly or disabled or exceptionally tall. If you are not comfortable with stairs we can certainly set up the futon or we recommend finding more suitable accommodations.
The best part of the neighborhood (York) is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown Bellingham and Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying Bellingham. Bellingham has also become a destination for craft beer with about 15 breweries and several tap houses--many are located less than a mile from the Guest House. You should also note that the neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal University student energy.
  • Great value, great hosts and great overall 10/10!!! You will not regret staying here

Our home is a great place to experience Bellingham from! Our neighborhood is friendly and centrally located. Walking distance from breweries, bus line, and grocery store.
My husband and I live in the main house, and your space is a mother-in-law suite that shares one wall with our house. It has a private entrance and parking spot, as well as a little outdoor sitting area. It is a perfect spot for one person or a couple visiting B'ham.
Our neighborhood is right on the edge of the line between residential and commercial. We are only one street off of Meridian, where you can find breweries and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We are a 30 second walk from a grocery store and the bus line, and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Bellingham.
  • Fantastic home and great suggestions.

Amy and I rescued and updated this neighborhood, turn of the century, 800+ sf character home in 2016. The Bungalow is located within walking distance of both WWU (1 mile) and downtown Bellingham (0.8 miles) and the neighborhood boasts several great breweries and dining options. The bungalow is located on a dead end, single-family street.
This house is a turn of the century character home in the York neighborhood. We have relished the opportunity to fix it up. Major updates have been made to the roof and electrical. I installed new hardwood to the foyer, living room, bedroom #2 and the dining room. Both the exterior and interior have fresh coats of paint and I replaced the front porch. The kitchen could use an update but is clean and has fully functional appliances and is stocked with everything you need to cook. Sorry, no dishwasher.
The best part about York neighborhood is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown bellingham or Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying bellingham. The neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal university student energy.
  • The bungalow was a great cozy little place. I was comfortable and there were lots of thoughtful touches. Chris and Amy are prompt communicators.

  • Awesome place. Close to everything and very clean.

  • We had a nice stay in Bellingham here and house is within walking distance to breweries and coffee shops. Comfy bed and cozy place.

  • Fantastic place, very cute and cozy. Perfectly located for any destination in Bham. Clean, comfy beds, nice old home charm. Great communication with Host. 11/10, would definitely stay again!

  • We and our dog had a great stay at Chris and Amy's place. The home: We were expecting student housing since its in a student neighborhood, so it was a pleasant surprise that the home looks so new and quite classy! Nice leather sofas, wood floors and good décor. The beds were super comfortable, and the home was warm and cozy. The board games were a nice touch. The kitchen counters have limited space but the hosts have provided everything you may need to make a quick meal. Plenty of towels and even an extra toothbrush, which I found handy because I forgot to pack mine! Shower was warm and had good water pressure. The location: We parked across the home in the dedicated parking spot provided by the hosts. Street parking seemed to be full for the night. There was a party in one of the homes but the bedrooms are towards the back of the home and we didn't hear a thing. Nice, well lit neighborhood that felt safe when we walked our dog late night. close to downtown, a quick uber ride away. The hosts: Chris and Amy kept in touch and even got our home ready hours before the check in time mentioned in the listing. They were very responsive. They have added a lot of thoughtful touches around the home to make for a very comfortable stay. All in all, a great stay, highly recommend!

Our 1924 craftsman home is a calm and inviting home surrounded by old trees, a large garden, and is on a quite residential street. There are two bedrooms and a quaint kitchen to cook in, with a fireplace to enjoy. Both bedrooms are spacious and light. The back yard, courtyard, fire pit, washer/dryer are all shared by the entire household. We are happy to get to know our visitors, but we also understand and respect your peace and privacy. We hope that your enjoy our home, we certainly do!
There is a separate downstairs from the main house where our guests stay. This space has been updated to include all modern amenities, with beautiful custom details. We have a separate kitchen, and living area from our guests.
Our neighborhood is called Columbia neighborhood, and is part of historically Bellingham It is is centrally located to downtown and the harbor, and is a short walking distance to local transit, the breweries, and local attractions such as the Mt. Baker Theater. Our neighborhood is also located close to the urban trails, with excellent grocery and retail shopping, as well as being near the hospital. We are close to the downtown Farmers Market, which is a vibrant event with live music and excellent food.
  • Just as wonderful as advertised!

    Lucia2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Jim are kind and gracious hosts. Room was cozy, kitchen and bath were clean and the decor very stylish. Great location, easy parking, quiet neighborhood, gorgeous yard! Really was a home away from home! Can't thank these terrific hosts enough for the entire experience! Great for a long-term stay.

    Lori2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve really enjoyed staying here! Lisa and Jim are excellent hosts, and it’s been a wonderful place to stay and get to know the area!

  • So glad I stayed here! I initially booked for 5 weeks, but booked an additional three months after enjoying my stay so much. The space is charming, comfortable, and convenient! Appliances and amenities are nice and new. There are plenty of outlets, and I appreciated that almost all of the lights are on dimmers. The bedroom was nicely furnished, and the queen bed and bedding were very comfortable. The backyard is gorgeous and meticulously kept. The house is in a great location - right by a few breweries, food trucks, and a grocery store, along with multiple bus stops. Lisa and Jim are excellent hosts! They've gone out of their way to make sure that I've had an excellent experience. They are genuinely invested in their guests' well-being and have been really helpful in helping me get acquainted with the city. They also do a thorough job of reviewing applicants for the other available room, which I have really appreciated!

A small, private, cozy studio less than a mile walking distance of both downtown Bellingham and WWU campus.
This one bedroom studio is small but mighty. We believe you will find it to be a very private, convenient and affordable option in the heart of Bellingham. It's located within a mile of both the epicenter of downtown Bellingham as well as WWU campus. In 2017 we made some cosmetic improvements by replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring, updating the electrical and giving it a new paint job. However, it could certainly use an updated kitchen and bathroom and was used as a college rental for many years before we rescued it. So if you're looking for modern and fancy, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you don't mind rustic/charming, we believe you will be quite comfortable. It is most suitable for 1-2 people, but the futon couch can be used as a second "bed" making it available to groups of up to three. Also, the on-site parking space is located on the back alley. It is a bit small and the alley is somewhat narrow so parking a large vehicle could take some extra effort. We recommend backing in to the space. If you are uncomfortable with the small parking space, you will need to find street parking which is generally available but can get crowded by late evening.
The best part about York neighborhood is our proximity to both downtown bellingham and WWU campus (both are within a mile). There are also several neighborhood diners, pubs and restaurants all within a 1/2 mile that are great places to unwind after enjoying bellingham. We recommend both Nelson's market and MacKay's tap house. Due to our proximity to campus, there are many students in the area. Generally they are quiet but can host loud parties from time to time.
  • This place is tiny, but very cute, comfortable, stylish and clean! The bed was amazingly comfortable with very soft sheets, a wonderful mattress, plenty of perfect pillows and soft cozy blankets. Amy and Chris have thought of and included every little thing a person would need for a cozy retreat, from coffee to waffles, and earplugs to toothpaste (and toothbrushes if you forgot yours)! No need to run out for anything! There may even have been chocolate! I would definitely stay here again!

    Marcia2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was great! It’s a cozy suite that has a full kitchen, a stocked up bathroom, a super comfortable bed, and there are fun board games in the living space! It’s very close to downtown Bellingham and a grocery store. Chris and Amy are thoughtful hosts, and I would recommend anyone wanting to spend time in downtown Bellingham to use this spot!

  • This is my second stay at one of Chris and Amy's places and each time they did not disappoint! Clean, tidy, filled with lots of thoughtful and homey touches, check-in is easy and convenient and parking is available close by. Located near downtown, grocery stores, and parks, and easy to find. Definitely recommend!

    Natasha2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was just amazing! Step by step directions on how to get in, easy communication! A clean and beautiful home! Chris and Amy left a note on the table for us stating if we needed anything at all to text or call and left there phone number. They are just amazing hosts. I am always a cold person and they had blankets all over for me to snuggle up with. I cant say enough good things about them. Will rent again when i come back!

    Nicole2020-02-18T00:00:00Z

A unique house in downtown Historic Fairhaven which has been converted into a working micro-brewery. A block away from local amenities, including boutique shops & great restaurants. You can easily hop on to the inter-urban trail which links parks, fantastic hiking, biking & downtown Bellingham. Fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi & a tasty, craft ale is only a step away.
Our cozy home is also home to a small micro-brewery which is housed in shipping containers in the back yard. Guests are welcome to use the backyard which has a fire pit, or the patio upstairs which gets lots of sun to eat their meals. These areas are only accessible when the taproom is open. The detached garage has been converted into our taproom, so a tasty ale, created on site is never far away. The bedroom is in the back of the house. It is surprisingly quiet, so you won't be disturbed by patrons of the brewery. In fact, there is the constant gurgling sound of a running stream, which is actually our glycol system that is used to cool our beer and walk-in cooler. The kitchen is fully equipment, including a gas range so you can cook to your hearts delight. There is coffee and tea readily available too. The window above the kitchen sink looks out on to the front beer garden of the brewery. You can always create some privacy by closing the blinds. The dated bathroom has a shower tub, which is stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, toothpaste, first aid kit and most importantly with a tub....soothing bubble bath! The lounge/living area is our biggest space. It receives a lot of light and looks out on to the front street, and a window faces the front beer garden. Again, there are blinds, curtains and sheer curtains to create more privacy for yourself, if you so desire. You can hear the murmur of conversations in the front beer garden. The comfy couch in the living room opens up into sleeper bed. Stairs go upstairs to our office space. There is a door that creates privacy for you downstairs; however, the house is a little squeaky, so you will hear foot steps upstairs as we access the space during office hours and often in the evening to access our merchandise stock for the brewery. We only access the office space through the brewery, and never via your space downstairs.
Our micro-brewery home is located one block from downtown Historic Fairhaven. There are beautiful boutique shops just a stroll around the corner, and great restaurants with some excellent happy hours & food. Obviously, we think Stones Throw Brewery is the best place for a beer, but if you want wine or cocktails we love visiting the Black Cat. Access to the Inter-Urban Trail is across the road. You can bike south towards Fairhaven Park (5min), Arroyo Park (15-20min), Larrabee State Park (45min) or you can bike/walk north into downtown Bellingham which takes you out over the water along the Taylor Dock Board Walk and past Woods Coffee. In the summer time the Community Boating Center is open and you can easily rent a paddle board/paddle boat for some fun sightseeing on Bellingham Bay. A block and a half away you will find our local grocery store, Haggens. Very convenient.
  • Awesome place!! Really cool location right next to the brewery. Nadine was quick to respond and check in/out was super easy. The place was very clean and well decorated. I even recommended it to some local friends for a stay-cation. Thanks so much!!

    Greg2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super location and easy to find. Great brewery! Loved having a beer and then walking a few steps to the sweet accommodations for the evening! Would stay here again without hesitation! Price is right. Place is super clean. Thank you!

  • Great hosts, communication and environment. We will return for the beer, er ah, bed... okay, both!

  • We lived in Bellingham and were back for a visit - what an awesome opportunity to stay at Stones Throw! We have always loved this brewery, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to stay there. The hosts had great communication it’s a unique experience to stay at a local brewery. The location couldn’t be better, within walking distance of all the cute shops in Fairhaven. The place is clean and cozy. We loved our stay!

    Molly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Nadines Place. Loved the location, within walking distance to the cute town of Fairhaven.

    Christina2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the guest house and it’s still as excellent as it was a year ago. Clean, great check-in process, and conveniently located to all the fun things Fairhaven has to offer. And of course the beer was great! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to visit Bellingham.

    Keira2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This guest house is awesome! Probably best for a couple as the space isn't huge. It was great that the front door opens right onto the brewery's patio, giving a more open feel. During the afternoon and early evening you could definitely notice there were people nearby and hear the din of conversation, but it was more than quiet enough for bedtime. Having beer merely steps away is a major convenience.

    Nicolas2020-02-19T00:00:00Z

The Garden Suite is walking distance to Historic Fairhaven, Western Washington University, parks, restaurant dining, a local brewery, art and culture, and great views. You’ll love our spot because of the gardens and tranquility. It is a delight of both flowers, vegetables and birds. The Garden Suite has a cozy cottage feeling within a quiet neighborhood, and the location offers all that a small village can, with a city nearby.
The Garden Suite is a small accommodation attached to the main house with a private entrance. It is accessible by going through the gate at the road and following the path to the backyard. An entryway- eating and work area, small kitchen, bedroom and sitting area, bathroom, and lovely garden make this a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. The Garden Suite is comfortable and cozy, yet small. Best for one, or a couple. The space is about 200 sq. ft. The ceilings are low, a warning for people over 6'4", you may have to duck in the doorways. The bed is a cotton-filled, slightly smaller than full, futon, with an ergonomically sprung frame and an adjustable head rest. A memory foam mattress pad and a down comforter in the winter will be cozy for your night's rest. The living space includes a bedroom-sitting area, kitchen, entry way-eating and work area, and a bathroom- with shower. Although attached to the main house, the Garden Suite has a private entrance and overlooks a quiet garden space. The birds are a joy anytime of year. We do appreciate a quiet home environment, with that said, Derek is a working musician and we love to spend time with our grandkids, so you might hear acoustic music, voices and laughter through the walls. Also, we are close to the freeway- one mile, so if you have the windows open you may hear cars in the distance. Although our space accommodates two, if you have more than two adults or children, please let us know so we can provide extra sleeping gear. There will be an extra person charge of $10 each person after 2, children 6 and under are free of charge. We will provide a floor mattress, extra sheets, pillows and blankets for the extra person. For your use if needed, we have a play/pack crib, just let us know and we'll have it ready for you. Be aware that if you choose to use the floor mattress or crib there is limited floor space when the beds are in use. Feel free to move the furniture if you like. The furnace is regulated in the main house, and provides heat to the suite, however we do provide an extra space heater and fan for your comfort. Since the space is small it can be very warm. Adjusting the floor vents or opening the windows will make it more comfortable for people who like a cooler space. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and we provide breakfast items such as, coffee, a selection of teas, granola, milk, juice and fruit. Please ask if there is something you need for cooking that is not provided. There is no TV! A CD/ radio player and several CDs are for your use. We do have a NO pet policy, however if you must bring your pet along, please contact us before your visit. We love dogs, however with other guests in mind, we prefer not to have them visit. A pet fee will apply, $15, and for long stays a refundable deposit will be required the first night of your stay ($100) and collected (a check) when you arrive. Please message us about your pet needs. Please use the back yard garden spaces as they were your own. The back yard has quiet places to relax, and can be used at any time. We generally use the front gardens for our own use, and occasionally will be in the back working in the garden areas. A small garden patio outside the suite is for your use. Inside the house is smoke free. We would appreciate smoking outside only. Thank you!
The Southside, Happy Valley, Fairhaven neighborhood offers it's residents and guests many enjoyable and convenient amenities. Walking distance to the Alaskan Ferry terminal, Greyhound bus and train terminal, Western Washington University, Fairhaven Village, Taylor Dock and Boulevard Park, the Interurban trails of Chucknut Mt. (for biking and hiking), Haggen grocery store, and several restaurants and boutiques. Despite all this activity, our neighborhood is quiet, friendly and colorful, for walking, jogging or relaxing. The birds are plentiful, look for the bird books in the suite.
  • You can tell that lot of love and attention went into creating this very charming and cozy space. Loved our stay!

    Krishna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Always a wonderful stay at Laura and Derek's place. This is my third time staying there when I travel into town for work because of their hospitality. Will definitely stay again!

    Ariel2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • When you walk into the garden you feel like you're in a magical fairy land. The short path to the guest entrance was very clear. We had no problems getting into the house. Communication with the hosts was perfect. The space was clean, warm, and very inviting. An excellent essential oil blend made the place smell like mulling spices - an excellent choice for late winter. The stove top espresso maker and teapot with infuser were very much appreciated. I will absolutely be staying here again!

    Nan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

Newly renovated one bedroom apartment in the heart of Old Fairhaven Historic District. Located two minutes walking to downtown amenities. Fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and privacy. This apartment is located above a quiet law office with private, coded access. On one side is a condo complex and on the other, a micro brewery. There is parking for one vehicle. ***Twice disinfecting and sanitizing of ALL walls, counters, soft surfaces - EVERYTHING.
This a newly renovated historic building in the center of Old Fairhaven. Originally built in 1909, the building used to be part of the colorful history of Old Fairhaven Prostitution! In it's heyday, it was called "Anne's Palace" and owned by a madam named Anne Bronson. This apartment is small, perfect for two or three people. It starts getting cramped with four adults. Keep that in mind. Please let the host know if you will be needing the sofa bed. As this apartment is next to a micro-brewery, there may be some days and nights with bands that play. There should be no more noise from bands or activities after 9:30-10PM.
This home is in walking distance to urban trails, the Bellingham Amtrak Station, Community Boating Shed (for kayak and paddle board rentals), and all the wonderful Old Fairhaven downtown shops and restaurants, as well as the Farmer's Market. Please scroll all the way down to see the map and locations marked as points of interest. This apartment is located within walking distance to almost everything in Old Fairhaven. There are several listings, restaurants, and places of interest that have been listed; be sure to read about all the great places in Fairhaven and Bellingham! As this is next to a micro-brewery, there may be some days and nights with bands that play. There should be no more noise from bands or activities after 9:30-10PM.

  • Great spot in Bellingham. Walking distance to great food and drinks. Easy access from highway. Perfect size for us and easy check in. Super cute. The brewery next door was great and super quiet. No problems here! Will want to come back soon!

  • Adorable space in Fairhaven! Great location. Lots of extra little touches. Very reasonably priced. Krisiti kindly offered an early check-in. Will definitely be back.

  • We go to Bellingham a few times every year and have stayed at many different places there. From now on, if this one is available, it's our choice. We like walking around Fairhaven and especially like the boardwalk. The apartment is perfectly situated for our needs of R&R when we go there. Her place is pristine, beautifully updated, well appointed in every detail down to often forgotten items, plus timely hand sanitizer! It's a cozy, wonderful little place. My husband's favorite ever!

    Joan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here has become an annual tradition for us. The location can't be beat! Equally awesome is the apartment with amenities. Kristi is easy to work with and quick to respond.

The Cabin Apartment is a spacious classic Northwest studio. The basement level of a grand 1918 home in the historic South Hill neighborhood, Cabin Apartment features a private entrance via stairs and is an ideal location for exploring Bellingham. We're located midway between Downtown (1 mi/1.5 km) and Fairhaven (1.3 mi/1.9 km). Just east you'll find Western Washington University (0.5 mi/800 m), and to the west meet the stunning Bellingham Bay and South Bay Trail (0.3mi/450 m).
Guests enjoy a full stocked kitchen, dining table, bathroom with shower, and bedroom with a queen bed, 52" Plasma TV (Netflix and Prime TV included), and full-length (comfortable) couch. Wifi included.
Absolutely try to catch a sunset while you are in town. Seen from just across the street, or a short walk to the boulevard that winds along the bay, the sun sets over pristine waters and islands with views of the Canadian mountains in the distance. If you're lucky, clouds and water vapor create streaks of vibrant color across the sky. Red, blue, pink, purple and blinding orange. I've been a lot of places and none can rival a good Bellingham sunset. This neighborhood is very safe (though you always should keep a watchful eye at night when you are close to a university). Enjoy the close proximity to downtown and all the local breweries (over a dozen!) There are quite a few places to catch live music and 2 excellent independent movie theaters. Fairhaven is super cute and fun to check out the local shops during the day. Stop by Fairhaven Pizza, Sirena Gelato, Stonesthrow Brewery, and Le Chat Noir for a cocktail while you're there. If you're lucky, the Fairhaven Circus Guild will have a performance going as well. If you have a car, here are some area highlights: Mt. Baker! for skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Take a ferry to Lummi or one of the other San Juan islands. Buy lots and lots of sushi in Vancouver (and take advantage of the exchange rate). Take a day cruise around the sound, they're affordable! And of course, go hiking or mountain biking on the thousands of nearby trails.

Our studio is close to everything Bellingham has to offer. Just blocks from downtown, we are walking distance from nightlife, museums, restaurants, parks, and the waterfront. You'll feel at home with a private entrance, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. With tons of historic charm, yet a newly renovated space with fun design details, this is the perfect spot to enjoy this town. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before booking!
This is the THIRD floor of a 19th century home. There are two sets of stairs, and electronic locks to access your private studio. The studio has a full kitchen, and we provide the basics to cook simple items. If guests want to do more extensive cooking, we are happy to provide the tools, however we do not keep everything in the unit, nor do we keep any food or condiments. If you have the need for more specialty cooking tools, we ask that the guest communicates this need ahead of time. This also goes for additional household items. We are minimalists in many ways, but can always share/provide these items. We provide coffee and tea (Keurig one cup at a time) as well as a French Press, and a hot-kettle for water. The space has a QUEEN size bed. The living room couch is a small futon that folds into a bed. We do not advertise this as a second bed because it is not a typical "bed". It has worked for many guests with children, or adults who don't mind their feet hanging off the edges. If you have questions about this additional bed, please message us.
Lettered Streets is an awesome neighborhood if you like to be close to downtown restaurants, bars, and businesses. We often walk to the farmers markets or to brunch, and we appreciate that we are one of the closest neighborhoods to downtown Bellingham. We love all the breweries, tap-houses, and coffee shops that are blocks away from our house! It is also ideal because it is a short distance (less than a mile) from the waterfront and the Marina (Squalicum Harbor). The fact that we can walk less than a mile to the marina to inspect the yachts, watch the sunset at Zuanich park, or driftwood hunt along Squalicum Beach is a real luxury! We love our location so much, but we still feel it is important to note that because we are only blocks from downtown, parks, restaurants and the waterfront, we have some proximity to areas where the homeless population of Bellingham will congregate. Specifically The Mission, a non-profit who has been serving Bellingham's homeless population for many years. As with any downtown area nationwide, homelessness is rising. It is unfortunate, but we cannot change this fact until certain systemic issues are addressed in our country. And Bellingham, even though picturesque and charming, shares the same disparity in living wage/home prices that the entire west coast is currently experiencing. However, we love living so close to downtown and have NO issues with our neighborhood. It is considered a desirable and very safe area to live. But we like to give everyone a heads up... especially those folks that like to ignore that homelessness indeed exists in America. If you do not want to see or think about homelessness, please do not stay here. WE are letting you know now, that the location is urban, and you will encounter homeless people in the region. For more info on the Lettered Streets neighborhood feel free to visit: https://www.cob.org/services/planning/neighborhoods/Pages/lettered-streets.aspx

This is a small private room on the first floor. It has a double bed and the private bathroom is down a short hall. You have access to washer & dryer which are adjacent to the room, and you have full use of our family kitchen, decks and bay views. We're on the north end of Bellingham, just right for an early flight, or a trip to B.C. We are near railroad tracks so trains may be heard. We are open to a longer term rental to a single person, perhaps a student at BTC or WCC.
This cozy room measures 8ft x 8.5 ft. Separate from the main part of the house it is quiet and private. While the laundry is adjacent, we don't use it while guests are in. Your bathroom is around the corner, a few steps down the hall.
  • If you're looking for a charming, clean and cozy spot, with incredible views, this is it! Piper was welcoming, and provided the right balance of being available while giving space. I would definitely recommend, and come again. The description and details provided by Piper are an accurate reflection of the space, and it's surroundings.

    Shakira2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This home is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that has some absolutely gorgeous views! It’s a quaint and cozy room, and you get your own bathroom as well! My stay was short, but I still felt beyond welcome by piper!

    Nicole2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Piper and Dixon are wonderful hosts. The room was small but very comfortable. The view was great, easy kitchen and laundry access, and we enjoyed visits from their sweet dog Luke. Great communication and follow up from the hosts. We would stay here again.

  • Beautiful spot overlooking the bay just as advertised. Besides a nice view from the back yard, you can also drink your morning coffee in the kitchen / living room space which also looks out onto the bay as well. Nice. Bedroom is small but cozy and the bathroom is right across the hall. Piper was super responsive and communicative. Very comfortable place that feels out of the way yet is very close to downtown. Ideal spot.

    Matthew2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Piper has a cozy room for sleeping and retreating, and gorgeous open spaces for lounging, conversation, or gazing at the view across the bay. Lots of tips on local sights and activities.

  • My dog and I felt so welcome. Great location with amazing windows facing the water. Great amenities. Super clean linens. I really loved the pillow. There is tea and bathroom amenities.I didn’t read close enough about the train but it was honestly no trouble. So many great books in the room I just wanted to sit by those windows and read for days.

Beautiful setting that provides easy access to all that Bellingham has to offer. In the city but feels like the country. Our spacious suite is the perfect getaway for a couple or individual. With a private entrance, the 2nd floor studio and bathroom (on lower level) provide a great place to call home while in Bellingham. The king bed is ultra comfortable and the studio is perfect for those that want more space and amenities than a hotel room or shared house.
Our above garage suite is beautifully decorated with super comfortable king bed and comforter. Large armoire for clothing. High speed internet, microwave/toaster oven, Keurig, french press, small fridge and freezer, iron board, dishes, pots & pans and more. Hot plate available upon request. We only allow up to two people, but if you have an infant, don't hesitate to check with us. Interaction with guests: We are a text message away, anytime for anything! We live in the main house, but value your privacy. Our Clean Unit Guarantee - We want our guests to know that we provide clean bed sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover, mattress pad and bathroom towels/cloths for every visitor. We personally clean all surfaces upstairs and in the bathroom prior to every guest and do not use a cleaning company. This is how we like places when we visit, so we feel our guests deserve the same treatment! The neighborhood: Centrally located to EVERYTHING...Right on the trail system that runs throughout Bellingham. Near St. Joseph's Hospital, Barkley Village, downtown Bellingham, WWU and easy access to the freeway north and south. You can be on the road (State Rte. 542) to Mt. Baker in about 2 minutes from our house. Check out the notebook in the suite for information about our area, local trails and great places to eat, drink and hang out. Our location is central whether driving, riding or walking. We are right on the interurban trail that takes you all over Bellingham. We are also only a few minutes from downtown and the I5 Freeway. We are local and know Bellingham very well! If you have questions don't hesitate to ask.
Our home is walking distance to Barkley Village, Whatcom Falls Park, Lake Whatcom and provides easy access to just about all of Bellingham. Though you drive up through a typical neighborhood, our area has a limited number of houses on large lots. Almost all the homes on our private driveway have at least 3/4 of an acre, so there is no one super close.

    Adam2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Laura are great hosts. I was in need of nothing, but they were responsive and pleasant in all interactions before and during my stay. I was in town for a conference, so I was looking for a cozy and quiet place to retreat to after busy days interacting with and constantly being around people. Matt and Laura's is a great place to replenish and be prepared for the next day's adventures, wherever your stay in Bellingham takes you. Thanks!

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    Heather2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my daughter for a ski trip to Mt Baker in the month of February. This is a very pleasant, comfortable and private studio apartment with a separate entry between the main house and the garage. Very nice up-to-date apartment and amenities. The bathroom is on the main level off the entryway, and right next to the stairway leading up to the apartment over the garage. There is good lighting in the stairwell and the bathroom, and all is well heated. Matt and Laura communicated well and responded promptly to questions. Great value for a very nice space.

This unit is its own apartment on the upstairs level of a classic victorian house in the historic Lettered Streets neighborhood of Bellingham. It has two bedrooms with brand new queen beds. Two bedroom apartment has a full size fridge and stove, great for longer stays and staying in. But also mere blocks from downtown for those that want to explore the beer scene and all that Bellingham has to offer!
This space is quite unique and was built in 1895. Because of this, there is tons of historic charm with hardwood floors, and interesting angles. Some aspects we find really great is the full kitchen and tons of closet space for those that want to feel at home. This space is also ideal for families that want two bedrooms!
We love our Lettered Streets neighborhood with our whole hearts. It is adjacent to downtown, so we can quickly walk to all the best restaurants and nightlife bellingham has to offer. Less than three blocks is one of the best coffee houses around (Lettered Streets Coffeehouse), as well as a breakfast diner (Diamond Jims), and excellent Thai Restaurant (Wanida). To get down town, expect less than a 10 minute walk. Depending on where you're headed, it is between 0.4 miles and 1.0 miles to anywhere in downtown Bellingham. We love all the historic homes and charm our neighborhood has to offer.
  • Lindsy and Eli's place was a perfect home base for a weekend in Bellingham. My husband and I loved how much sunlight the apartment gets, and the memory foam mattress was super comfortable. The location is great for walking around Bellingham, and the hosts gave us a wonderful list of recommendations for food and drink. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

  • The apartment is attached to the main house by the laundry area and foyer, adding to the privacy. There is a privacy lock at the foyer entrance and one to the apartment itself. Upon entering, it is apparent how much care went into designing the space so that it is welcoming. The space is accurately depicted by the photos offered, but only for the objects placed in the room. They don’t convey the feelings of comfort and warmth. The space is immaculate and linens and towels are high quality. Parking is right outside the apartment door and the home is in a lovely neighborhood. The walk into town is short and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. When we arrived, I had no cellular service, and could not access the door code to enter the apartment so I contacted Nancy. She responded promptly with the code. After that there were no other reasons to contact the host because all the rules were clearly laid out. When we and I are back in town, this is the apartment we will seek to rent again. We highly recommend it.

  • Lin’s place is an Outstanding AirBnb! A wonderful location, extremely comfortable bed and accommodations for a great night of rest and relaxation in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to stay here again!

  • This GORGEOUS unit was perfect for our needs during our long weekend in Bellingham. It was warm, inviting, and well appointed. They truly had everything we could possibly need. It was beyond clean...not a speck of dirt anywhere...not even around edges or in corners. There was a sweet little vase with a couple of fresh flowers in the kitchen window ~ which was the cherry on top. If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we would definitely stay there again.

    Marcie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

A cheerful private bedroom in the home I live in with a Queen Tempurpedic bed and private bathroom. Relax on sunny patio in lovely yard or curl up with a book in cozy living room. Excellent location: Walk to downtown, waterfront, restaurants, and parks from this character home.
Welcome to Bellingham, the "city of subdued excitement." Thankfully, my neighborhood is pretty subdued indeed. I hope you enjoy this quiet, safe, block and my handsome home, built in 1900. Cheerful bedroom with cozy living room and big open kitchen. The well-landscaped, private backyard has a nice patio for dining. But if you want to get out and about, this is GREAT location. On the busline to WWU. Only 1 mile to downtown for local shopping, season farmer's market on Saturdays, and plenty of great restaurants. Less than a mile to Bellingham waterfront for superb sunsets and nice walks. Several parks and a few places to eat within walking distance. Or jump in your car and head up the Mt Baker Hwy for some skiing (they boast the most snow of any mountain in N America) or stunning hiking near an active volcano. If you need a big city fix, Vancouver, BC is only an hour away, too!
This is a mostly single-home neighborhood that is very safe and walkable.
  • A great place to stay!

  • Jodi provided a beyond accommodating stay for us! Communication regarding the details of our stay was effortless and efficient. Upon arrival there were chocolates, snack, coffee and tea waiting for us. The space itself was very cozy and comfortable. She also had basic breakfast things for us in the morning-yogurt and granola. The bed was great-firm yet soft and supportive at the same time. I would definitely recommend staying at Jodi's!

  • Jodi is super cool -- communicative and kind but mellow and respectful, too. The bed is indeed comfy, shower is great (pressure, heat, controls), entry is smooth/easy, location terrific, home cozy and cool/attractive. Lots of smart, sustainable and awesome touches like art, tea, coffee, yogurt, breakfast bars and other beverages, a wide selection of pillows and extra blankets, info on things to do and where to eat... Jodi is awesome and her place is terrific!

  • Tina's place is amazing!! Nice and cozy, but surprisingly spacious! Super close to everything in fairhaven and right off i5! Lots of nice touches, and Tina's communication was phenomenal. The price was incredible, especially considering how nice the place is. I would love to stay here again! I'm only upset that I didn't have time to soak in the nice deep tub they have.

  • I am so glad to have chosen to stay at Laurie's place. It was a homey little sanctuary while I was conducting my business, and it was a pleasure to meet Laurie. Bellingham is a gem, with lots of natural beauty, and good places to explore, eat, and drink... coffee in my case, but also craft beers and cider if you're into that kind of thing.

  • Very nice stay! Even though it is on the premises of the owners/hosts they have parking on the side of the building that is private. Overall it was a great stay! Also, the creek behind the house is really awesome! Such a cool, nature filled stay! 🌲

    Jordan2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We only had a short time there but it was perfect for our family of 3. So clean and lovely. The bedroom bed was incredibly comfortable and the sheets were awesome. The TV was huge and fun to watch. The hot tub was perfect and right by a beautiful creek in both looks and sound. Great that there was a small frig, microwave and coffee in the morning. They are great communicators and we would highly recommend to anyone in need of a place in this area.

We welcome all to our home. We are within walking distance of train, bus, the Alaska Ferry as well as restaurants, book stores, coffee shops, grocery store, locally owned shops and miles of hiking & running trails. There is lots of room inside for a bike or two. If you are arriving by train, bus or plane we will be happy to pick you up when you arrive.
This is a daylight basement Studio Apartment with an 8 foot window looking out the front of the house - East. Approximately 400 sq ft + adjacent bathroom. There is a couch, desk to work at, wi-fi, refrigerator, microwave, sink, dining table and a very comfortable leather recliner. It has excellent natural light and a lot of artificial full spectrum light as well. Birds, squirrels, deer, racoon and Matilda may appear right outside your window for your viewing pleasure. Matilda, aka "Her Highness" is the resident cat. Your bathroom is located right next to your private room. There is also a washer and dryer. You do not have to go through the house to get to the room, your entrance is through the sliding glass door, no steps to navigate. In addition you will be surrounded by beautiful art to make your stay even more enjoyable. There is a queen bed, a good sized refrigerator with a small freezer, a large microwave and a coffee pot. Coffee and tea are provided. Half and half for your coffee is in the frig.
Because it is a cul-de-sac with only a dozen homes there is little traffic. We know all of the neighbors and we have a yearly party. We have lived here for 24 years and from the very first day we arrived it has been and remains a welcoming, friendly and caring community. You may park in any available space on the street, just not in front of the fire hydrant or mail boxes.
  • Cozy and peaceful.

    Chase2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Richard are delightful hosts. We appreciated their hospitality and knowledge of the area.

    Michele2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The room is large and comfortable, has all the amenities I could think to hope for (they even had the charger cable I needed and had forgotten), things are labeled well (like light switches and special instructions) so you don't forget, and the bed is comfortable (most importantly). Jim and Rick are kind and helpful hosts, and seeing the artwork both in the room and in the workshop (where you enter) is a treat. If you need anything - just ask! They are super helpful. Also, if you happen to be without a car, not only will they pick you up, etc., but there is a bus that will take you to/from Fairhaven or Bellingham or to WWU. It's just a block away (though it runs only hourly and not late in the evening).

    Lisa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

  • I loved staying with Jim and Rick! Their home is in a perfect location to explore Fairhaven and the room is huge. I loved the little kitchenette and the room had everything I could need and more. I greatly enjoyed getting to chat with Jim and Rick and was given a lovely tour when I arrived. Meeting Matilda at night was an added bonus. I will be staying here again the next time I visit Bellingham.

Enjoy this cheery light filled space with a separate kitchen. Located close to Fairhaven, WWU, Downtown Bellingham, and trails that lead to Chuckanut Mtn, the bay and WWU. Let this be your hub for all you want to experience while in Whatcom County.
This space is attached to the main house where I live. There is an always locked door in the hallway between the two spaces for privacy. There are 3 different rooms which make it more than a traditional studio. The large room has a queen bed and a table with 2 chairs. There is an outside entrance to this room with a low deck that looks over the backyard and the garden. This is a great place to sit and watch the sunset. There are 3 steps up from this room into the hallway. Off the hallway there is a bathroom with a large shower (no tub) and another room for a small kitchen with a microwave, a countertop convection toaster oven, a refrigerator, a hot pot and an assortment of cooking and eating dishes and utensils. There is a second outside entrance into the kitchen. I provide tea as well as coffee beans with a grinder and a drip system with an insulated carafe. I also have basic condiments such as mustard, ketchup, vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. I have added an option for a third guest with the use of a 4" foam trifold single size mattress that could be placed on the floor next to the queen bed. This is for guests that want to bring a child or friends that may not want to share the queen bed. Please be aware that this is not a real bed and choose this option with that knowledge.
Wren House is conveniently located close to many popular locations. We are 1 mile from a 24-hour major grocery store in a shopping center with a pharmacy, restaurants, hardware, and REI. We are 1.5 miles from Fairhaven with many shops and restaurants, 1.5 miles from WWU, 2.5 miles to downtown Bellingham with shops, restaurants and award-winning brew pubs, and just 2 blocks to a Greenways Trail that takes you to the Chuckanut Mountains or to Bellingham Bay or WWU.
  • A lovey little home. Close to all the sites. Sue was a thought host.

Great location for Mt. Baker adventuring, Cascades exploring, kayaking, hiking, or downtown visits! Quiet neighborhood with plenty of privacy. Family and pet friendly. 15 minutes from waterfront and downtown 5 minutes from the mall and shopping centers 45-60 minutes from Baker National Forrest! 1 hour from Canada or San Juan Islands Plenty of cozy and welcoming amenities! Bromine Spa, Mini fridge great for long-stay or eating in, Roku TV! More amenities available in shared spaces.
Home away from home. Very homey feel in a very quiet suburban neighborhood but very close to all the “action” of the city. I am a very welcoming host in a newly constructed home. Family and pet friendly; neighborhood has a local park and playground, plus nearby walking/running trails. The space itself is built around home-comfort! Private, quiet, relaxing. Single queen bed with full bath. Closet space, mini fridge, Roku TV, WiFi, and other essentials in the space.
The neighborhood is quiet, very friendly, clean, and "homey." There’s a playground, park, basketball court, trails nearby, and some views of Mt. Baker. It is very well lit on most sections of the street, and all streets have sidewalks for those that enjoy going on runs/walks. Parking is free everywhere and generally pretty easy to find, just be careful not to block anybody’s driveway, and watch for no parking signs on some sections of the street.
  • Great place to stay. We enjoyed our weekend at Casey's place.

  • Would definitely stay again. The location is close to Fairhaven, it is nice and quiet and very comfortable

  • Sue's place a great place to say for 1 or 2 people in Fairhaven, just minutes' walk from everything you need in terms of food, drink and a really great bookstore in Village Books. The space is warm, comfortable and quiet. What's more, Sue is a kind, easygoing [super]host ready to provide you with anything you need. I'd stay here again...and again.

    David2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean. Has all the basic amenities minus a TV unless it’s be updated. Do confirm. Excellent location and super quiet and great master bed so you’ll get a great nights sleep. Other bed is a pull out or couch.

  • Wonderful place within a short walk of Fairhaven

    Gary2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sue is a very hospitable, helpful and generous host. The apartment is very light and attractive, and has good facilities. The apartment is very conveniently located just near to the old town of Fairhaven, in a quite neighborhood (apart from the hoots of passing trains, which are heard almost everywhere in Fairhaven, and is something one gets used to quite fast...).

    Boris2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location in Bellingham. Close to everything but in a quiet nice neighborhood. Plus Sue makes outstanding cookies. Would stay there again.

    Archie2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's treehouse-like apartment is a joy to stay and unwind in. Its airy, light and bright and truly feels like you are up in the trees. Bellingham Bay is near by and you can smell the salt air in the morning. Sue is a delightful and thoughtful host.

We hope that you enjoy our home, we certainly do!
  • Lisa’s is the BEST place to stay in Bellingham! The apartment is clean, charming, cozy and has all the amenities for a hassle-free stay no matter what time of year. It’s in a lovely safe neighborhood that’s walking distance to groceries, restaurants, shops and downtown’s brilliant nightlife! Lisa and Jim couldn’t be nicer and their dog, Huey, is a gem. I highly recommend this Airbnb and look forward to my next stay.

Our newly renovated Basement Studio is awesome for anyone that is looking for a clean, modern space close to downtown Bellingham. In the historic Lettered Streets neighborhood, walk to all the great breweries and restaurants. Although this house was built in the late 1800's... the studio is new, bright, and a perfect getaway. It has it all: King Size bed, full kitchen, and a mud-room to store outdoor bikes, boards, skis, and kayaks. PLEASE READ the entire listing description!
This space has been 100% renovated! Every aspect is new, fresh, and clean. It is the bottom floor of a 3 story home that was built in 1886! The front door opens directly to the driveway, so there is no need to haul your luggage very far. It is also very accessible for those that do not want to climb stairs. Full kitchen is provided, with a full size stove, sink, and refrigerator. We also provide a Keurig coffee maker. and moderate cooking supplies. We provide simple amenities to make you feel at home, such as a hair dryer, iron, and desk space. We also love to give people a feel for the historic charm of our old Bellingham neighborhood, so we have incorporated historic black and white photos from the Whatcom Museum. We also love the vintage inspired record player to add some ambience to the space and hope guests enjoy a record or two while they are here.
Lettered Streets is an awesome neighborhood if you like to be close to downtown restaurants, bars, and businesses. We often walk to the farmers markets or to brunch, and appreciate that we are one of the closest neighborhoods to downtown Bellingham. As with any downtown area nationwide, homelessness is rising. It is unfortunate, but we cannot change this fact until certain systemic issues are addressed in our country. And Bellingham, even though picturesque and charming, shares the same disparity in living wage/home prices that the entire west coast is experiencing. However, we love living so close to downtown and have NO issues with our neighborhood. It is considered a desirable and very safe area to live. However, we like to give everyone a heads up... especially those folks that like to ignore that homelessness indeed exists in America. If you do not want to see homeless people, please do NOT stay here! For more info on the Lettered Streets neighborhood feel free to visit: https://www.cob.org/services/planning/neighborhoods/Pages/lettered-streets.aspx
  • This apartment checks all the boxes - beautifully decorated, super comfortable bed, an easy walk downtown. I stayed for 3 weeks and barely used my car at all. Lindsy and Eli were very responsive to my texts and accommodating when I needed a late check-out. They are the best!

  • Lindsy and Eli’s place was so cute. The little seasonal holiday touches made our weekend getaway feel even more festive. The location was perfect and in walking distance of the downtown area, parking was never a problem, and the homeless shelter near by never made us feel like the area was unsafe. Check in/out and communication was fast and easy. We would definitely look to stay here again if we are ever in the Bellingham area again!

  • "Amazing" just starts to describe my experience at Casey's place. Super clean, super comfortable room, comfy bed and very convenient location. Casey is the perfect host, attentive to your all needs, but he also makes himself scarce if you need your privacy. All in all Casey's place is a gem and I will recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
