Stay in a cozy 1 BR or 2 BR, upscale Costa Rican-style bungalows with a pristine pool at your doorstep. Look out over the trees to the Pacific ocean from your private balcony and listen to the birds and howler monkeys that call the gardens of Casa Tranquila home.
“We stayed at José’s place for a week. He truly has set up a great place to unwind. The cottage was cute and had everything that we needed. His property is beautiful. His plants and trees and pool make for a very relaxing atmosphere. He is very knowledgeable about Costa Rica and obviously cares very deeply for his country. It was great fun to talk with him. José and his family made us feel very welcome offering suggestions on local things to do. When it was time for us to leave he set up a taxi for us. We didn’t have a car but didn’t mind walking. There is a hill involved but it wasn’t a big deal. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Jose’s place to others.”
To be woken by birds singing, to see them fly from tree to tree, then to take a descent to touch the water of the pool, to admire the hummingbirds gather nectar and the squirrels flit from branch to branch where sometimes the monkeys follow the same way, you are definitely in Villa St Barth!
“Firstly I wanted to thank Antonio for exceeding all our expectations. Everything from the moment you greeted us to our departure was nothing less than a great experience. I highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay. Nestled on the top of a small hill, private, secluded with the most breath taking views. The ambiance of the lighting that surrounds the outside of the home to the most thought out interior, spacious but not overwhelming. Little touches like fresh fruit were on the table waiting for us at our leisure. A small booklet sits on the great room table outlining many highlights in Tamarindo including some of attractions local and in Arenal. I am sure you have all researched like me, most importantly Hospital phone #s and other important information you may need. It was all at our fingertips. Antonio truly wants your stay to be perfect...... we noticed the propane was empty one evening and the next morning it was ready to go...even offered to grab it for us right at that moment (we just changed plans to eat in town :-) . The cleaner and grounds keepers are very polite and you truly do not notice they are there when you are enjoying the pool or home. We traveled at the warmest time of the year, 35-40 degrees outside but the pool temp is set just cool enough to take the edge off, so refreshing. A constant breeze always adorned the home , so it never felt as hot outside as you would with no air movement. Many days we kept all the glass sliding doors open and screens shut. Felt so tropical. We spent many hours relaxing pool side drinking fresh fruit smoothies....... you need to go to the local markets. We recommend Maxi Pali for your main groceries and booze and 2ndly which is one the same road, the fruit market. Lastly, right in your backyard we saw the Howler Monkeys, a group of about 20 were their during our stay, beautiful birds, lizards and Antonio's adorable Black and white cat made a few evening visits to say hello and hang outside. Once again, thank you so much for the most perfect stay, we will be back. I highly recommend this home for your next vacation. Sincerely Jeff, Crystal, Ray, Terri, Jenn and Martin (Pura Vida)”

“Katie and Happy own a lovely a three story building with guests’ rooms on the first and second floors. They live on the third floor. The house is enclosed by a fence with a lock and has a lovely outdoor seating area. My room was on the second floor and was the equivalent of a hotel room in amenities and cleanliness; moreover, it had a stove, refrigerator, and sink. Happy and Katie provided coffee and tea and some beer and milk. After some long days in Tamarindo (I wanted to see the sun and ocean as much as possible), it was the perfect little retreat to come back and relax. Also, it’s about a 5 minute walk to the beach - super easy and navigable. Right down the road is Cafe Tico, which I cannot recommend highly enough for the best, cheapest breakfast in town (and delicious coffee!)”
