“Great place for a work trip. The place is homey and comfortable, the neighbors are typical. Everything is clean. It's in a good suburb. Walter is a nice guy too. Offers plenty of goodies.”
This cottage is very comfortable and cute. It is rustic but we have AC and heat for every season. The outside has a lovely courtyard with fire pit and string lights. This cottage is very centrally located with Los Olivos just a mile up the road and Solvang 3 miles down the road. There are many wineries in every direction walking distance and a bike ride away. It sleeps to comfortably in our queen size bed. Please let us know the duration of time in which she would like to stay.
“I stayed in both cottages and loved the experience. They are super comfortable, felt very private, and in gorgeous grounds walking distance from some great wineries and a fantastic restaurant. Our host was amazing with communication after we left some belongings accidentally and assisted us promptly to get them returned. Will definitely be visiting again!”

The land feels vast and open. Minimal in color, but rich in texture. I visited New Mexico at the same time I was contemplating the Alamo renovation. I found a very similar feel there in the light and colors and its Western culture. I was deeply inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's home in Abiquiú. Her simple yet intelligent use of plywood was so intriguing that we wanted to incorporate it into the Alamo somehow. We had our woodworker, Shaun Wallace of Gopher Wood Design, mimic her plywood dining table design into desks, small tables and benches. We also decided to do the floors in plywood, to keep the texture rich and the colors minimal. Meagan Donegan did all the prints in each room and lobby. Her artwork is the perfect fit, as a nod to the agriculture and farmland in the surrounding areas. We used lighting from Atelier De Troupe to give the rooms an elegant yet simple feel. ABOUT LOS ALAMOS<br><br> The Alamo Motel is located in Santa Ynez, two and a half hours from Los Angeles - it feels like a modern and cozy ranch-style getaway. In the evening guests enjoy a communal fire pit and a wine bar hosted by Municipal Wines. Grassy areas for picnics and long, lazy lunches with swings hanging from shady big oak trees surround the property. This tucked away, friendly community offers quality wines, authentic antiquing and tasty slow-foods in about the span of three walking blocks. With a quaint cowboy mystique and relaxing quiet like no other place, it has its own starry history; the 1820's saloon in town played host to Johnny Cash where he performed in the 50's and was the site of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's "Say, Say, Say" music video featuring Linda McCartney. With wine country just a few miles away, there's a little something here for the discerning tripper. “This place was everything I dreamed of and more! It is in the most adorable town and the motel was perfect for my road trip up the coast. I also was pleasantly surprised to have a small wine tasting room just steps from my room and fire pit! The decor was urban/simple/clean and the motel is walking distance to so many delicious restaurants. I will be making this my regular vacation spot from now on.”
