The metro and a variety of restaurants are easily reached on foot. Downtown Pasadena is a short bike ride, healthy walk, or brief car ride away. Pasadena is a beautiful town with so much to see! We are a 10-minute walk to the Lake Gold Line Metro Station, where you can catch the Gold Line to South Pasadena and enjoy Mission Street's shops/restaurants, take the Del Mar stop where you can take in the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market (2nd Sunday of every month), take the Union Square stop to experience Olvera Street (margaritas, anyone?) or a delicious French Dip sandwich from Phillipe's. If it's a museum you seek, exit at the Memorial Park Station to find the Norton Simon Museum, one of the best collections of visual art in the Los Angeles area. Downtown Pasadena with it's wonderful shops and restaurants is a mere 5 minutes away by bike or car (or, for those of you who enjoy some exercise, a 30-minute walk). We have two adorable dogs. They never have access to the cottage, however, so it is allergen/pet free. During your stay, we happily keep them in the house and only let them out to do their business in the front yard of the main house. You might hear the occasional bark, as they love to protect their homestead. But, most likely, you'll never hear them as the cottage is a comfortable distance away. BTW they are friendly and love meeting new people!

Chic Loft-Style Oasis with lap pool & hot tub

Relax in the oasis of this wholly remodeled 1920s Craftsman-style guest house, dubbed the Boat House due to its proximity to the LA River. Impeccably designed brick industrial with intimate light-filled interiors, the Boat House has its own entrance and shares a large yard, fire pit, lap pool, and hot tub with the main house 50 feet away. NOTE: Euro-style kitchen includes refrigerator, toaster oven, portable electric cooktop (two burners), microwave, electric kettle for making coffee, teas, pots, pans, plates, etc. Street parking is usually never an issue. Please read the online manual. Modern, comfortable, loft-like space in hip East LA hood, Glassell Park! (FYI, it's not a real a boat house), but a unique 1920s brick building on a quiet residential street. We call it the "Boat House" because of close proximity to the LA River. The building has polished concrete floors, wood beams, mid-century design, custom copper faucets, custom OSB cabinetry & one-of-a-kind art & furnishings. There's a cozy fire-pit area right outside the door to enjoy as well as a pool, spa and fruit trees. NO FILM SHOOTS ALLOWED. PLEASE DON'T INQUIRE UNLESS PLANNING TO PAY 4X THE RATE. We lovingly designed, carefully curated and restored the guest house. We so appreciate you treading kindly with respect to the furnishings and items that share the space - (ie, please don't take the vintage pottery outdoors), typewriter (just for show), artwork, collection of books & furniture. PLEASE, NO WET TOWELS or bathing suits hung anywhere but on the hooks provided or in bathroom. There are blinds in the rooms for your privacy. The building is historic so thank you for being mindful and not putting anything other than Toilet paper in the toilet. Thank you!! The guest house shares a spacious back yard with the main house where we live. The backyard has fruit trees & a cozy fire pit. You have a private entry through a side gate. Ample street parking. We're an active family with two small kids. We live in the main house on site. We also have a chill labradoodle dog named Mel & two outdoor kitties. My hubby and I are both documentary filmmakers & have travelled extensively. We love hosting folks from all over so please say hello during your stay! We've provided blinds in the guest house and respect your privacy (we won't be too loud too early). We share our backyard with you and love to enjoy the outdoor space. We swim often, BBQ and use the firepit. Feel free to join us! (if the pool safety net is in place, please don't try and remove it yourself, thx). Please let us know if you'd like to use the pool and/or spa. The pool is heated by the sun but the spa can be quickly heated for your enjoyment. Just ask! Occasionally, we host friends, brunch & parties. Again, feel free to join in! We're easy going like that. Someone is usually on site to help with your needs or just a phone call or text away. Enjoy your stay! The guest house is located behind the main house on a quiet street, close to great coffee shops and restaurants. East LA is both hip and full of colorful diversity. The location is convenient to Silverlake, Los Feliz, Griffith Park, and Downtown. Ride sharing works great! We recommend it - Lyft or Uber. Also, various metro lines are located a couple miles away. And, Enterprise car rental has locations nearby. We're conveniently located near the 5 and 210 freeways. We live in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood. A few times a year some of our neighbors have parties: Quinceaneras, birthdays, Tomborazo bands, etc. We've never found them to be intrusive & rather enjoy the festive music!

Admire Amazing Views from a Modern, Zen-like Guest Suite

The studio is a large single room with beautiful concrete floors. It as a zen like vibe. The space combines a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a modern and minimal design. Its a custom built house that my wife and I designed. We moved into the house early 2017 and been working on getting the studio ready to rent on air bnb. It has a kitchenette. Flatscreen with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO now and DVD player. A stereo and Vinyl player and wifi is in the room. Here is a link that gives some insight in the design process of the house for those who are interested. (URL HIDDEN) We live above the unit - pia tino and our five year old Yoko. We usually get up at 7:00 and leave the house by 8:00 or 8:30. In the evening Yoki is home by 5:30 or 6:00pm and goes to bed around 8:00pm. On the weekends we are in and out. The way the house is constructed sound travels between the floors. It’s possible you can hear steps or sound from above. That is the nature of our place. Out of the many guests we had it has never been an issue. But we want to point it out as two guests also mention it in their reviews. You have access to your private studio with separate entrance and deck with fire pit and grill. There is free parking on Baxter street 60’ down the hill from the entrance to or up on North Alvarado street. Its a safe neighborhood. The unit is on the lower hill side. Its 10 steps to get to the unit. Please let us know if you need help with your luggage. We are generally available and love to meet and interact with our guests. We can recommend restaurants, bars, things to do with kids etc. We can assist finding the things you need and love to do. The house is right on the cusp of Echo Park and Silver Lake, with great restaurants, bars, and cafes close by. The immediate neighborhood is super chilled, quiet, and safe and home to beautiful vistas. A few cafes and liquor store and elysian park are in walking distance. Otherwise car, bike or Uber are the best way to get around. There is a bus stop 300' from the house. We provide all general home amenities. There is a coffee maker, plenty of pods, The kitchenette is fully stocked and ready to use. There is a toaster/ grill, The AC/ heater is controlled by the main house. We usually have it set to 68-75 degrees. If it needs adjusting please let us know. There is also an additional mini heater and fan in the closet. We have two cats upstairs but they never go into the rental unit as the connecting door is usually locked.

This private 500 sq. ft. studio apartment is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. This space comfortably fits 3 people, if you are happy to use the Milliard memory foam tri-fold mattress. If needing to do washing, a coin laundromat is .3 miles away from our home. Kitchen Appliances: Stove, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle, French Press, Nespresso, Aeroccino Milk Frother, NutriBullet and Soma filtered water jug. Amenities… Hairdryer, wifi, flat screen, TV with Netflix and Directv Now, full length mirror Guest will have full access to the studio apartment, yard, porch and fireplace. I like to meet guests upon arrival to give access and a tour of the property, but sometimes this is not possible. My husband and I live in the main house and are available to offer any advice on local attractions. The den sits behind the main house In Altadena, a short drive from good coffee shops and restaurants. It's accessible enough to explore the many eclectic neighborhoods of LA. There are numerous neighborhood trails that are great for walking. Although public transportation is available, the closest bus and Gold Line stop are about 1-mile away. We highly recommend having a vehicle to drive, but if in doubt, Uber! There is a designated parking spot on our property for you, and there is plenty of street parking (no restrictions, no tickets)!

Brew some coffee and step out into a tiered hillside garden and have a seat on deck patio of this enchanting hideaway. The entire bottom floor of the house is yours. Garden access is shared, as are the laundry machines in the main house. We are available at all times by phone, text or email. Bordering the neighborhoods of Eagle Rock and Highland Park, the area has an understated charm and offers an array of vibrant restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. Old Town Pasadena, a retail hub with charming eateries, is a short drive away. It is a 0.4 mile distance to the nearest bus stop on La Loma and Figueroa. (about a 10 minute walk from the apartment) The 81 Bus can take you to the Gold Line Metro in Highland Park in less than 15 min. The Gold Line runs between Pasadena and Downtown, where you can transfer to other trains. Please let us know if you would like an Apple TV set up for your arrival or at any point during your stay.
