“I could not have picked a better place to stay for my first and last night in Iceland. Inga is an incredible host. She opened her entire home to strangers and the location is ideal, about 20 minutes outside of the Reykjavík downtown core. She was very sweet and we had many laughs during our conversations. I felt truly like I was staying in a home. The handover was easy and her communication was amazing. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Iceland! Until then Inga :)”
Follow the stair of about 50 wood-stepped paths up to the cabin. Sit out of an evening and watch for the Northern Lights, then rest on the stove-side rocking chair amid wood paneling that extends to the vaulted ceilings, and look out forest-wards from the deck. Going downtown Reykjavik is only 20 km away, the Blue Lagoon 40km, the International airport 35km, the Golden Circle for a day trip and many more. Recommendations in the Area will be available for guests. https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-airbnbs-in-reykjavik A car is essential staying at the cabin and a 4x4 during wintertime.
“The location of the cabin offers the best of both worlds. It is located on a nature preserve which offers the peacefulness of nature while being close to Rychiyvic / Blue Lagoon, and other Icelandic sights with in a 30-40 min drive. Our host Kathrina and her husband was very responsive and very gracious with assisting us with one or two small “tourist” issues, to include helping free our car when is got stuck in the snow!.. Thank you again Katarina! The cabin is spacious and perfect for people traveling with 2-4 people. The wood burning stove is great! It completes the cabins cozy feel and truly makes it toasty warm. After a long day of exploring we enjoyed the warm fire with a nice cocktail, making for relaxing evening.”
A nice little cottage "Sunnukot" which is a renovated studio near a private house in a quiet area by the sea. It is located in the town of Kópavogur next to the capital Reykjavík which is easily accessible by bus. The first bus stop is just situated in the street above, few minutes walk away. It takes only 10 minutes to get to Reykjavík center by car. Fully equipped kitchen and good dining area. Private bathroom with a shower. All linen and towels are provided. Supermarkets are close by.
“The beautiful house is located right next to the family home in a suburb of Reykjavik. We were only there for one night, so I can't say much about the area, except that at Braudkaup you can get a great burger a few streets away :) Reykjavik center is only 15 minutes away by car. The guest house is right next to the family home, but there is a separate entrance and the houses are separated by a narrow path to the garden. The house is very simple, but very practical and you have both a comfortable bed (about 160cm wide, only a large duvet) and a small kitchen with a table. The bathroom is nice and big enough. Everything was sparkling clean and very lovingly prepared. Sylvie is a wonderful host who is always happy to help, who is interested and with whom I was able to use the washing machine and dryer - very helpful for a multi-week trip to Iceland! In the fridge there was milk, water and homemade jam and we were even allowed to take a small glass of jam with us. I highly recommend Sylvie's guest house to anyone who wants to discover Reykjavik and the surrounding area!”
