“Super-cozy Getaway! This place was perfect for our family of four. My six and four-year-old had a blast the whole time, especially at the pool. It was easy to get in and out of the house through the private back entrance, and the convenient parking made coming and going a breeze. My wife and I loved Gramma Rose's quaint home and felt right at home the entire time. We enjoyed the attractions in the area and always had something to do. Russ and Leanne were amazing hosts and wonderful people. Russ was attentive to all our needs and Leanne even taught my girls how to swim! Couldn't ask for more. Gramma Rose's place had everything we needed for two weeks: towels, sheets, plates, coffee maker, games, TV, and washer/ dryer. It was comfy, full of its original decorations, and plenty big for two adults and two kids. We especially loved the sun room during our stay. We drank our coffee there in the morning and watched the birds peck seed in the bird feeder. My daughters couldn't get enough of the board games and found the unique decorations especially cool. There were plenty of things to do while we stayed. Lake George was right down the road, the shopping outlets even closer, and Saratoga a short drive down I-87. Russ recommended local eateries and hiking trails. Fully knowledgeable of the history of the Fort Ann, he was our go-to for all your inquires. He recommended the Docksider and it didn't disappoint. We ate great food outside while watching the pontoon boats pull up from Glen Lake. Will definitely go back! Thanks Russ and Leanne for being super hosts and making our stay a memorable family trip.”
This is not for everyone! We offer a small and very private (heated) cabin that sits on a seasonal stream. There is no bathroom, plumbing, or electricity. There is an outhouse. It is not suitable for toddlers, as there is a stream with a steep rocky bank and a narrow bridge without a railing. Lake George (the actual lake) is 1/4 mile away as is a marina (2 closest are Castaway and Fishers). The village with public beaches (and bathhouse) is a 10 min drive. There is a hiking trail from the cabin.
“Cathy's cabin was PERFECT for an unplugged weekend away in the wilderness! My partner and I have been more or less trapped in our urban apartment for 3 months and just needed to be in nature, unplugged from the news and from Zoom meetings. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, the setting was gorgeous, and the obvious care that Cathy takes with this property all made this a wonderful trip. We wanted to leave our phones off for the weekend, so the printed directions and information on local hikes was very appreciated. Buck Mountain is very close by and it was a GREAT hike, even on a 90 degree day - and we were very grateful for Cathy's solar shower to rinse off afterwards (and again later in the day when the sun went down). Communication was great, check-in was a breeze, the amenities (screened-in porch, solar shower, fire pit, propane stove, even the outhouse!) were perfect... we already want to go back. THANK YOU for a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend!”
The Hillside Cottage is a luxury cabin with views of the Mettawee River. Located on 26 acres on a back road, it is peaceful & private. Enjoy fishing, swimming or relax on the deck. This riverside retreat includes a king bed, tub & a kitchenette. The stone fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere & dinner cooked on a grill is the perfect ending to a long hike. Whether it’s a quick get-away or an extended vacation, the Hillside Cottage is a simple solution from a complicated life.
“Where do I begin? We’ll start with the Mountain View. The land was amazing! The cabin itsself is one of three rentals on the property. It’s nestled on endless acres of land alongside the most perfect river. The home has a private yard and forested area, which was perfect to hang in. The yard area has a small fire pit with precut wood and kindling. We brought our pups and they roamed off leash all over the property down and around the river. There is also a Beautiful Garden area. Everywhere you look you see the rolling hills of upstate NY mountains. The location - easy to get to! The property is 20-30 minutes to great hikes in the Adirondacks in all directions, 12 minutes to town for a bite to eat, gas, or whatever you need. It is also private and secluded enough to enjoy your stay in nature! The home - an upscale cabin with a soaking tub, the most comfortable king sized bed, fireplace, and five star amenities. The house was stocked with the basics like water, coffee, tea, creamer, condiments and cookware. But more than that, it came with calming room spray and pillow mist, bathing salts and body soaking supplies. The shower is stocked with high end hair and body care products. The cookware and grilling supplies are top notch, better than the stuff you have at home! The hosts left a collection of great reads for any taste in a built in bookshelf above the bed. They even provide a dog bed! The hosts - Upon arriving Marvin greeted us and our two dogs, showed us around the property and introduced us to his two goats and two sheep! The animals minded their business during our stay but were quite fun to look at as they peered over the hillside. Marvin and Jess answered every question we had quickly! They offered the use of their kayaks, where you can paddle down the river and Marvin will pick you and the kayaks up to bring you back home! I accidentally left an ice pack in the freezer and he mailed it to me the day we left! An excellent stay. I highly recommend!”
