Built into the rock face, but still on right on the lake front, the house cascades down four levels, with numerous terraces. The space is defined by the rock face, glass, concrete, wood & light.

The sabbatical house

Set in a coffee lot by a unique wetland area, this home is about twenty minutes away from Antigua. Still, it feels a world away. You'll spend peaceful days in the lush gardens and walk to the Mayan towns of San Antonio and Santa Catarina Barahona. Should you like, you can also get to know the kids who visit the "Caldo de Piedra" library next door. (Proceeds go to support it.) Pickup and drop-off is in Antigua is provided free of charge (weekdays, up to 6 pm). Nature-, book-friendly.

It is a very secluded property with no "neighbors" on either side. To the east is the soft flowing Parankaya River. To the west are undeveloped grounds which are also part of the villa grounds. Casa Serenidad is a lakefront cottage with lush gardens secluded enough to be alone with nature, but within 3-5 minutes away from Isla Verde, a hotel with a restaurant that offers delicious food, and it’s usually open to the public. The property is only accessible by boat but its approx. a 15 minute walk to the town of Santa Cruz, and very close to kayak and paddle board rentals. We are about a 10 minute boat ride to Panajachel.
