A private rental inn "Atan" quietly stands on the banks of the Gojo Takase River This space, where natural materials such as cedar, earth, and Japanese paper breathe quietly, blends into the city of Kyoto, but the flow of time feels gentle. There is a small courtyard through the bathroom window. Just by soaking in the hot water and letting yourself go with the view of the changing seasons, your mind will melt away. Space, quiet, and a little bit of luxury. This is a place for those who want to enjoy time doing nothing rather than packing their schedule while traveling. Wake up in the morning to the soft light through the sliding doors, and end the day quietly at night while watching the shadows fall on the garden. The time here is memorable not only for what you see, but also for the temperature of the air, the feel of the soles of your feet, and the quietness of the sounds. It's nice to talk to someone, or to spend time alone. I hope this place is a place where you can take a little distance from your daily life and check your own outline. The name "Ootan" we wanted to create an inn where you can encounter landscapes, air, people, words, and stories you have never encountered before. A little story will surely be born in this space where you spend your time.

It is in a convenient location just 3 stops away from Kyoto Station (about 13 minutes by train), but it is not crowded, so you can avoid the crowds and have a quiet stay.Easy access to major tourist attractions in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga (Fushimi Inari 35 mins / Uji 45 mins / Gion 40 mins / Osaka 46 mins, etc.).Enrakuji Temple, a World Cultural Heritage site, Omi Jingu Shrine, and Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine are also nearby, and you can enjoy Japanese cultural heritage such as Karasaki Shrine and Sakamoto Castle Ruins, which are within walking distance, while strolling along the lake shore. The adjoining jazz bar and live space is equipped with a great sound system and a stage.Currently, we hold jazz live performances roughly once a month (on weekend afternoons), and the jazz bar is only open on weekend evenings (for about 3 hours from 6 pm to 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays), so please be aware of the noise from the music playing in the bar during those times.For weekend bookings, live music is free, and one drink is free during jazz bar hours. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it.
