2 days agoWe enjoyed our stay overall. The neighborhood was quiet, the neighbors were kind, and we absolutely loved the sweet alley cats as they were one of our favorite parts of staying here.
The host was responsive and helped us resolve a small mishap during our stay, which we appreciated. The bikes were a cute touch and added charm. The beds weren’t the most comfortable, and while the space isn’t super large, it was fine for the four of us.
It’s pretty central to everything you’d wanna get to and the park next door is gorgeous!
A full-size mirror would be a nice addition, and there are a few small things that could be improved for even more comfort, but overall it was a pleasant and very memorable stay.

6 days agoWe enjoyed our stay. It was on the edge of the Gion district and close to a number of shrines and temples. Bus stops are on the adjoining road and a train station is a 10 minute walk. Close to a busy road but quiet.
It was a bit smaller than other places we had stayed and the upstairs room with the 2 extra beds is short and could be awkward to get in and out of.
Also Google maps may put you on the road to the Chion Temple. The actual place is in the alley next to that road, beyond the fence. Easy to get to but it took us a couple of minutes to figure it out upon our arrival.

2 weeks agoThis is a traditional home in design and construction. You will experience in a way how life was before modern appliances like washer/dryer and bidet were around. The space had 2 sleeping spaces downstairs and a loft that sleeps 2 (suitable for flexible adults) who can crawl since headspace is very limited. Beautiful and peaceful temple and park nearby. Fun to ride the bicycle around the park/ Gion neighborhood early in the morning.
