Tips from locals
An incredible place, rich with historic significance to native peoples, with views of the painted desert. Just 45 minutes north of Flagstaff. A must see!
This is my all time favorite place in Flagstaff. I find it a great glimpse of local American Indian history. The sites are incredibly well preserved. The main site is handy-cap accessible. The views of the painted desert are unparalleled.
Great preserved pueblos. There is a visitors center with maps of the area, a natural blowhole, and game pits. If you ruins, come here.
A great drive/hike opportunity to see ancient indian dwellings and to learn about the early indigenous indian cultures that lived here. Start the drive from the Sunset crater visitors center to see the combined history of the volcanic and indian cultures that once were.
