The Seurasaari island provides a nice setting for outdoor recreation, sun worshippers and walkers. The tame ducks, swans and geese swarming around the bridge welcome everybody. Having crossed the white wooden bridge a visitor can't help running into the happy little squirrels of the island. At the Open-Air Museum of Seurasaari the traditional Finnish way of life is displayed in the cottages, farmsteads and manors of the past four centuries that have been relocated from all around Finland. The Kalevalakehto Installation (2010) by students from American and Finnish schools of architecture and design is situated on the south bank of the island and is ment for relaxing and enjoying the silence. At Seurasaari you'll also find restaurant Seurasaaren Kruunu, Cafe Mieritz, kiosks and a beach (nude-, except for Wed & Sun). Barbecuing is also possible at the grill by the Festival Ground kiosk. Island is open daily. Open-Air Museum of Seurasaari is open 15.6.-31.8. Mon-Sun 11-17 and 1.-15.9. Mon-Fri 9-15, Sat-Sun 11-17. Seurasaari is a museum island, which consists of old, mainly wooden buildings transplanted from elsewhere in Finland and placed in the dense forest landscape of the island. The Open-Air Museum was founded in 1909. All the different provinces of Finland are represented in the well preserved old buildings and they give an overall view of Finnish countryside life from the 18th to the 20th century. At present, there are 87 separate buildings at Seurasaari Museum. Seurasaari has also a variety of wildlife, especially birds, but also red squirrels and hares. It’s very popular place for citizens who want enjoy the peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

This is a small island where you can walk and swim but also visit old houses to see how Finland was a few centuries ago. Squirrels are overfed by tourists so avoid feeding them with peanuts.
