One of the last drive-in movie theaters around. Plus you get a double feature for only $7.50!

Open since 1966, the Summer Drive-in -- Malco Theatres -- is among a handful of drive-ins left in the US. The four-screen cinema looks much like it did on opening day in ‘66 (when it screened Doris Day’s The Glass Bottom Boat and Paul Newman’s The Prize on one screen) with its massive, retro hourglass sculptures designed to emit neon lights. The theater is open seven days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and on Fridays and Saturdays for the rest of the year. Each screen shows a double-feature, and patrons can listen to the movie through their car radios. Although there’s a concession stand, many people opt to bring their own snacks and beverages. Some folks even bring small grills.

Not many cities can boast a working drive-in anymore but Memphis can. A double feature will run you $7.50 per adult and children 10 and under are free! Grab some popcorn, drinks and a blanket and head on out of a night under the stars.

The Malco summer drive-in was opened in the year 1966 and is a two-screen open air theatre where you can choose from one of the two films and watch the movie while sitting in your car. This is operational only during the summer seasons because of the harsh weather conditions during the winter months. The Malco summer drive-in allows you to have an old-school and nostalgic experience which involves viewers tucked inside a warm blanket and munching on your favourite snacks.
