Henry Hudson Park in Selkirk has kayak rentals, and there is a lovely short paddle up the Vlomankill creek with a waterfall at the end-accessible only near high tide. Its best to leave an hour before high tide and ride it in, and then ride it out. That paddle should only take an hour round trip, though. You will see eagles, osprey, herons, ducks, geese, depending on the time of year...you name it, they're in there!

Pleasant park on the river. There is a small playground and pavilion with restrooms. Nice kayak/canoe launch.
