Tips from locals
Some people love to hike this mountain, to the top or at least up to emerald lake and some love to do the cave tour. It's beautiful and worth looking into, conditions permitting.
This is a strenuous hike, but highly recommended for those able and inclined. 12,000 foot Mount Timpanogos is the most prominent peak seen from Provo. The hike itself is14 miles long and can be done from early Summer to Fall. The meadows, flowers, and summit views are spectacular.
Hiking up to the cave system at the top of Mt. Timp is one of our all-time favorite activities. You can sign up for a free, park ranger-led tour at the visitor center. It's a moderate, 1-mile hike up to the cave system - the views change with every turn on the way up, and the cave itself is a spectacular treasure.
