Tips from locals
A lighthouse was established at Cape Liptrap in 1913 to improve the safety of coastal shipping. In 1951 the steel tower was dismantled and replaced with the current structure. The light is still in operation and has a range of 18 nautical miles (over 34km). Cape Liptrap Coastal Park was declared in 1997. Take care, the road is generally dusty and can be corrugated. Our advice, drive slowly, the views are well worth it!

It’s a modest lighthouse at the top of a cliff but on a clear day there are nice views of the coast line. 30 min drive (at least 5 minutes on a dirt/stone road.
Head down towards South Walkerville and turn off to the Cape Liptrap lighthouse. Enjoy the wild windy cape.
