Why locals recommend it
It's always bright and warm inside this little neighborhood spot in Harlem with a lounge-y vibe and relaxed crowd. You’ll hear reggae, hip hop, or soul music playing. I always get the raw burger, made of pumpkin seeds, pecan, crimini mushroom, onions, and avocado on a homemade flax bread––great for your energy and immune system. They are famous for their lemon chicken nuggets––minus the chicken, of course––and creamy mac and cheese. You must try these two dishes!
Tips from locals
For the vegans and/or health conscious. I'm not even vegan and I love the food here!
Excellent food whether you are vegan or carnivore. Def worth trying! Good brunch.
It's about a 15 minute walk, but well worth it if you're vegetarian / vegan. Great food and service.
Just a short walk along Saint Nicholas Avenue by Central Park is the small restaurant that offers some soul food staples, sans meat. Chef Brenda Beener started the restaurant with her son to create purportedly healthier alternatives to the foods she grew up on, like a soy “chicken” parmesan sandwich topped with dairy-free mozzarella and marina sauce, barbecue “riblets” made of lotus root and soy, and even a vegan-friendly version of a Harlem chopped cheese burger.
