Why locals recommend it
Most people think Twin Peaks is the highest point in San Francisco—false, Mt. Davidson is, and it’s a much cooler spot. The trail is basically a spiral that wraps around the hill all the way to the top. When the dense fog comes in, it can be spooky as hell, but it’s super cool. Every time I’m up here I catch the cool local high school kids making out. There’s a massive cross at the very top to remember the victims of the Armenian genocide.
Tips from locals
Enjoy this secluded and little known place to hike. This is the hill you see front our front yard. It's the highest point in SF and the views and out of this world! Just ask us for the best way to walk up the mountain!
A fantastic urban hike to the highest natural point in San Francisco with one of the best views. It is about a mile to the entrance and then 1 mile up. You will notice the peak of Mount Davidson is marked with a large cross.
Unforgettable views at the top with great hiking. Famous large cross at the top (in scene from Dirty Harry). Highest location in the whole city! (Walkable)
