The southern coast of Maine, and the western shoreline of Schoodic Peninsula. Many small islands are scattered throughout the bay including Bar Island, Sheep Porcupine, Bald Porcupine, and Long Porcupine Islands. Bar Harbor is the largest town on the coast of Frenchman Bay.

Lamoine State Park is situated on Frenchman Bay, large body of water along the western shoreline of the Schoodic Peninsula. THe bay was named in honor of the famous French Explorer Samuel de Champlain who first sailed in and charted this area for France in early September of 1604.
