Two chefs — Andrew Clarke and Jackson Boxer — have joined Shoreditch’s wood grill community. This is a restaurant inspired by “very, very drunken lunch” two summers ago at Boxer’s mother’s home, Pound Farm, in West Sussex, which is the source of much of the salads and vegetables. St Leonard’s — named after the church on the same street — will “attempt to create a high-summer afternoon in Sussex in a more urban setting”: the meeting of highly technical preparations and primal cooking of lamb legs, roasted ducks, and whole fish, grilled and roasted over fire. There’s a raw bar too from which oysters are offered three ways, alongside razor clam with peas.
