Open 11 AM - 3 PM daily Hot Chicken Takeover is a little bit different from the other restaurants you’ll find on this list. They’re only open for lunch hours, and their menu is limited, but there is almost always a line out the door for a reason. They serve the best Nashville hot chicken sandwich you’ll find in the entire city, and their social model for employment is totally unique. They give formerly-homeless or incarcerated individuals a chance to earn a decent living, while giving back to the community. Delicious food aside, this place is well worth a visit.

Hot Chicken Takeover serves Nashville style hot chicken and it’s really good! They have another restaurant in Clintonville but we’d suggest going to the North Market location for lunch if you can!

Our StoryIn the fall of 2013, we experienced Nashville’s famous hot chicken culture for the first time. The taste, the smells, the mix of people in the restaurants – we were instantly hooked. When we returned, we experimented non-stop. Night after night, we tested out new twists on our own hot chicken recipe. Soon we started serving friends of friends and then we finally served our first group of strangers (in a random parking lot, if you can believe it). Just months after that trip, we opened up a small pop-up chicken window in Olde Towne East. Every weekend we’d sell until the chicken ran out. We also began fulfilling our vision to hire men and women in need of supportive employment.
