The Ferry to and from Whitianga runs continuously from 7:30am til around 10:30pm - best to check hours as they do change in peak season. $7 single adult return. This ferry trip is simply a must even if you are not wanting to shop or dine over in Whitianga.

Walk or drive to Ferry Landing and catch the passenger ferry across to Whitianga, the main township of Mercury Bay for shopping and restaurants.

easy access to Whitianga town. $6.00 return fare, saves the 25min drive around, fun for the kids.

The best possible way to get to Whitianga -- the drive around is fun to do maybe once. Possibly twice. But the ferry is where it's at. Check on board or at the wharf if there is continuous service or if they break around the dinner hour. As of May 2019 it cost $7 return pp.
