With a name that literally means “alleyway-market,” this general interest market is so packed with the stores that’s hard to see the sky when you’re in the thick of it. You might get lost on the way, but you can see old scenes of Seoul. It’s especially known for the many tailors and seamstresses making items for the Dongdaemun fashion market. If you follow the old fortresses walls near the market, you’ll end up at the Ihwa Mural Village where you can find beautiful murals painted by more than 70 local artists. There is also Sungnyemun Gate nearby.
