Animal sanctuary that often has baby sloths! Stay for lunch on the pool deck and excellent views.

An excellent tour and chance to see and learn about wildlife close up while supporting the wildlife in Costa Rica. Not to be missed is a view from Villas Alturas (where you actually purchase the sanctuary tickets) or better yet food and drink!

Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release, Alturas mission statement says it all. The center offers tours of their wildlife center, a primary local reserve to take injured animals hoping they can be nursed back to health and released. Well worth the trip!

Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful place to visit, in particular if you have kids. Alturas work very hard to rehabilitate animals and do their best to get them acclimated so they can be released back into the wild. Visiting Alturas will help fund the rehabilitation. Animals that cannot be released are kept in the sanctuary: on the tour, you will primarily see those animals. You will see two resident sloths from really close-up and many monkeys. In addition you will learn a lot about wildlife conservation in Costa Rica.

The wildlife sanctuary nurses injured animals back to health with the goal of returning them to the wild. At any given time they have a good collection of animals to view.
