There’s no denying that South American influence can be found in dishes throughout Miami. But Obra isn’t just turning out run of the mill fare that can is seen on menus in the area. Led by chef Carlos Garcia, who is best known for Alto in Caracas, which was part of the Latin American 50 Best Restaurants for the first four years of its opening, it it serving up some of the best and most creative Latin-fusion food in city — if not the country. Guests are encouraged to grab a seat at the bright wrap around counter that surrounds the open kitchen and watch the masters at work. There they’ll see the kitchen making creative dishes like arepas filled with soft shell crab, fries topped with sea urchin and eggs, burrata with pork rinds and tomatoes, rigatoni with clams and nori, that’s all well-priced and beautiful to the eye.
