A gem of a village, interlaced with masses of small canals. The most fun thing to do here is to hire a small electric motorboat, but it can become extremely congested on the water. For the sailors there are tradionally rigged punters for hire, once you get the hang of them they are a delight to sail.

Giethoorn wordt het Venetie van het noorden genoemd omdat het bestaat uit vele kleine eilandjes die met bruggen aan elkaar verbonden zijn. Het mooist is Giethoorn te bekijken vanaf het water. Dus ga schaatsen of varen (kano, fluisterboot of rondvaarboot).
