The hike to the top leading to the stunning slate spires of the Chimney Tops is beautiful and clear why it is one of the most popular in the Great Smoky Park. It is a round trip hike of 3.8 miles and you can find parking located off Newfound Gap Road, approximately 6.8 miles south of the Sugarland Visitor Center. There is a Picnic Area about 2.5 miles north of the trailhead.

I love this trail because at the end of it there's a "closed" sign at the top that nobody goes passed. But it's very easy to go passed it. And when you go passed it, it's literally 300 yards until you have a 360 view of the mountains all to yourself. And it's all to yourself because everybody sees the "closed" sign and turns around. Not knowing it's only 300 yards 'til paradise. This trail is a shorter hike, but a steep incline. Imagine stair climbing for a mile straight and this is it. But again, once you're at the top, it's very peaceful as not many people will be up there with you. You'll also cross about 3 streams of water along the way and walk next to a stream of water for a quarter mile.

(Hard) Explore this 4.40 mile, out and back trail near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 42 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through November.
