Jack "Mimm" McClure (January 25, 1914 - June 26, 1969) was an American Appalachian moonshiner and local philanthropist from Young Harris, Georgia , GA. Local stories abound in the Georgia mountains of McClure's quality bootleg spirits, his charitable giving, and his self delivered justice to those who crossed him. He is also reputed to have been behind the rise of a few notable Georgia politicians of his time. On January 25, 2012 country musician, Tommy Townsend, a grandson of McClure, announced his partnership with Georgia Distilling Company, Inc. of Milledgeville, GA to recreate and market his grandfathers original moonshine recipes legally for the first time. Dubbed "Grandaddy Mimm's Corn Whiskey", it is produced on stills designed by McClure, and built in Georgia using his secret family recipe. According to press reports, Grandaddy Mimm's line of spirits will be initially distributed in Georgia and throughout the American southeast. The stills were handcrafted by a metal fabricator in Macon, GA. Stop by and visit, pay for a tour of the distillery and get a free bottle of Moonshine of your choice.

Opened in 1987, Whitepath Golf Club is just as appealing to the seasoned pro as it is to the fledgling hobbyist. The 18-hole course designed by Rocky Roquemore and Joe Lee measures 6,400 yards at max, with three sets of tees for varying skill levels. Hole 10 has been referred to as the "toughest Par 5 in Georgia". Whitepath suggests to "keep it in the middle with fairway woods and mid irons. Be happy with Bogey", when it comes to the tenth hole. Stand-out aspects include rolling terrain, meticulously maintained small greens, and panoramic views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and the Cohutta Wilderness. Water features range from creeks and ponds to the Ellijay River and Whitepath Lake. Whitepath Golf Course has a driving range and practice green to tweak your game before hitting the course. Tight fairways and a little rough make for a challenging game. There is not much that can compare to the beauty of a golf course in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

They also sell really cool herbs, candles, shirts, etc. The owners are total gems and really sweet people that love to chat!
This is the ideal way to enjoy a summer day! Float your way down the beautiful river and then get out a grab a beer or some food at one of the many cute little restaurants or breweries in downtown McCaysville/Copperhill!

Sightseeing

Only 30 minutes from the cabin and you can visit the highest peak in Georgia, 4,784 feet above sea level. It closes in the winter so be sure to check they're open before you go. There is a steep trail to get to the top or a shuttle service. On the Bald you’ll find picnic areas with great views; a general store with locally made products; three trailheads just off the parking lot; a mountaintop natural science & history museum, and observation deck that offers a spectacular 360° view of the surrounding area, including four states (GA, TN, NC, & SC) and if you’re lucky, the skyline of Atlanta!

A must if you are in the area. Tons of stuff to do with the family here from berry/apple picking, hayrides, delicious baked goods, a cafe and store. Our favorites are the fried pies and apple bread. They also do apple cider and wine slushies.

A cute town only 12 minutes from the cabin that was founded in 1835 and named for Revolutionary War hero James Blair. The community is tucked in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains, making it a natural wonderland with lakes Nottely and Winfield Scott nearby. The Appalachian Trail also passes through the area. A cute town to grab a bite to eat and do a little shopping, plus there are plenty of waterfalls and hikes to do near by.
