Places to stay in Westover
My home is in a quiet neighborhood, in an even quieter Eastern Shore town. The room is just off the front entrance with plenty of natural light during the day. My house is right off of route 13 making it a very short detour from the highway for those traveling through the area. It’s centrally located to many local tourist hot spots.
The full bathroom is right down the hall, and though it is not private, it will be all yours during the entirety of your stay. We have three furry family members! The two resident cats are Teddy and Seuss and the dog who is owned by the cats is Camilla. The cats and dog are kept out of the room at all times (with an occasional game of chase the cat out of the room). You are welcome to allow the cats into your room during your stay but if you do, you may have a hard time convincing them to leave. Camilla will only be out and about when I am home, otherwise she is in a kennel in my room. If you are traveling with a baby and need a pack and play, I have one and will set it up for you if desired. I also have plenty of kid toys if you are traveling with a kiddo.
My home is within walking distance of the quaint downtown of Pocomoke City. The Downtown of Pocomoke City has the Delmarva Discovery Museum (home to our two favorite otters, Mac and Tuck ), the picturesque Pocomoke River (with a drawbridge), and my favorite coffee shop, XO Beanery and Bites (with my absolute favorite donuts, muffins, and quiche).
  • Amazing stay! Cute and clean home and Kellie has the sweetest two cats and puppy. Her son was also very polite! The room was very cozy and she left snacks for us which was very nice. Everything you could need (shampoo, extra blankets, Netflix, etc.) kellie had in her home. It was the perfect place to stay on our way down to Virginia. You won’t regret staying here!

  • Very clean, in a nice quiet neighborhood, wonderful and friendly host. Spoils you with lots of yummy treats. Has a polite young son, friendly dog, and also two friendly cats. Will definitely stay there again if the place is available.

Peaceful surroundings. Property is on 34 acres so only visible neighbors are owners in main house and houses across the river. Make sure to check out the Bald Eagle’s nest along the driveway!
  • You can expect a peaceful stay with all the amenities you'll really need. Be sure to bring whatever you're cooking before arrival because there aren't any stores nearby once you get off the main road. There were 5 of us, and only one bathroom, and somehow it all worked out! It was a great stay overall and there's nothing I'd change about it!

    Tyra2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best, if not THE BEST, Aibnb I've ever stayed in (that includes Airbnb's all over Europe and the US). Gorgeous, private setting; charming house with lovely details such as exposed beams and a handsome wood stair railing. Liana's many touches and thoughtful amenities made me feel like I was in an expensive boutique hotel in Europe. AND, we were greeted on every walk we took by bald eagles flying overhead, their nests visible in nearby trees. Such a luxurious and relaxing hideaway!!

    Laura2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind, this is your chance. Our family of five truly enjoyed the cozy, historical cottage with its beautiful surroundings. The sea, the quiet, the nature at your doorstop - everything was perfect. The house itself was stylishly renovated with pretty details and all necessary amenities. We stayed fuzzy and warm even during the wintry temperatures outside. The teenagers loved the attic as their own personal space and the parents appreciated the lavish master bedroom with a view. And of course, Liana herself was a great host, who took the time to meet and advise us.

    Jarmo2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property right on the water. The cottage was absolutely beautiful inside, super clean and the property outside was well maintained. The best part of staying here I was able to bring my fur baby. The sunsets were amazing. The owner , Liana wanted to make sure your stay was comfortable and her communication with me was awesome from start to finish. I will definitely stay here again.

    Sherry2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing, well-maintained cottage. The sunsets are amazing and you can just enjoy the quiet, calm location.

    Zak2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Liana's place is great, it is so beautiful there, right on the water with breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunsets. The place has a gas fireplace and candles that were so cozy for the cold winter nights. The beds were also very comfortable! I would recommend for anyone wanting to have a quiet weekend away!

    Val2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This property was perfect for our needs. We had 2 couples (+1 greyhound) staying for the Algonquin 50k weekend. This property allowed us the opportunity to shower after our race and spend time together rather than rushing out after the finish. It took us about 30 minutes to get to Pocomoke State Park for the race. Liana was a generous hostess! Her property was sparkling clean, well appointed and so comfortable. The views were stunning! We are so grateful for this find! It will not disappoint!

    Karla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Simply, this is a lovely property in a beautiful setting. Liana and Sean are exceptional hosts, very responsive and available, while equally respectful of guest privacy. Everything was as advertised, and more. Those lucky enough to stay here will be surrounded on three sides by water, offering splendid views around the clock, including star-filled night skies. The natural atmospheric light is an artist's dream, from tranquil rose-hued sunrises to stunning fiery sunsets, and the home's window-filled great room takes full advantage of the setting. (In fact, all of the rooms are bathed in light, unless the shades are drawn for late sleepers, committed nappers, and fans of cooler, muted spaces). I stayed here in winter, thus missing the opportunity to get out on the sparkling river accessible a few short steps from the guest house, but I plan to do exactly that as soon as the weather warms up enough for wading, bathing, kayaking, and fishing. Just the thought of soaking up the sun on the expansive waterfront lawn of this private and peaceful property is enough to sustain one through another frigid New England winter. Thanks for a perfect stay at this true gem!

  • It’s a room. It’s a fair price. If it’s below 45 degrees outside, bring a sweater. The room is above the garage so it can be a bit colder than the rest of the house. Space heater is in the closet if you really need it. Really just wear a sweater. I had a fine stay.

  • Great accommodations - plenty of towels and linens! Perfect location. While my husband fished in his tournament, I took advantage of the nice drive to Chincoteague beach. My husband was already talking about staying again for his next fishing adventure.

  • Noah and Carolyn's place was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was on a quiet street, just a short walk away from the beach. It had everything we needed - including snacks! Check-in and out were very easy with the lock box, and I didn't have any issues, but they were very responsive, so I trust they would have been handled quickly. They even offered to mail me an item I left behind, so overall, one of my best airbnb experiences!

The house is on a private lane within walking distance of the Nanticoke harbor. You can watch the wildlife from the upstairs, 700 square foot, recently renovated apartment and might see deer, turkeys, eagles, foxes and a large variety of songbirds. This is a great place to bring your kayaks, bicycles or boat. There are two harbors, five beaches, and a park in the area. No cleaning fee. Full kitchen. Coffee......
Depending on the time of your you will be able to hear the spring peepers, the whip-poor-will, owls, and all the other creatures that like to make some noise. I planted a butterfly garden and flowers for the hummingbirds, and you can sit on the back porch and watch. It is a great place to relax. The main room is large and has a king size bed, a sitting area, and a dining room table. The kitchen is fully equipped .
Saturdays big event is a visit to our local second-hand store.
  • I stayed at Waltraut's place over a holiday weekend, looking for a bit of peace and quiet. The apartment is lovely and quite cozy with a number of small touches throughout. It was exactly what I needed. I very much enjoyed reading and writing with a cup of tea, looking out over trees in the backyard. I brought groceries on my way and was pleased to find a well stocked kitchen that had everything I could need. I made my way over to Roaring Point Beach as well as Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and would highly recommend them both.

    Ashwin2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Waltraut's apartment is exactly as it looks in the photos. She has clearly given the space a personal touch, and we felt at home there. The home is very easy to find with Waltraut's directions. It is in a remote village, so bring adequate food/snacks with you, or be prepared to drive to Salisbury for most staples.

    Kathryn2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Just remote enough and just close enough. I enjoyed a relaxing, carefree few days in this adorable space. I had everything I needed to not have to leave. However, I did venture to Roaring Point and the beach was incredible! Clean, bordered by the state park on my side and long sight lines across the river. I would visit both again! If you need a moment to yourself, to unplug and unwind, you'll definitely be able to do it here.

    Angela2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our visit! The apartment is spacious and gets beautiful light. The views outside are gorgeous. We had everything we needed--the kitchen was especially well equipped. Would definitely return.

    Keira2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A nice rural retreat.

    Greg2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice and quite retreat! Very clean apartment, and great hospitality! I would like to stay here again the next time I am in this area!

    Alison2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Waltraut's apartment was great! The bed was huge and comfortable, and the living area had a lovely view over the backyard. We saw quite a number of different critters throughout our stay. Although the kitchen area is a bit small it is plenty capable, we cooked several delicious meals in the kitchen thanks to the included wares. Nanticoke was a neat little town and the beaches weren't crowded or noisy like most along the eastern shore. All in all we believe Waltraut's place is an excellent value and we wouldn't hesitate to stay with her again!

    Nate2019-09-24T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful inside, quiet and close to many different things to do

    Rj2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house is large, and great value for the money. It was stocked with kitchen items, as well as multiple fans and air conditioners. The town was quiet and very charming. Beautiful seaside park across the street by the library. Just down by the American Legion is a public beach, as well. Crisfield has sidewalks through most of the town so we were able to walk and check out local businesses. The town of Salisbury was only about 30 minutes away, and offered many other shopping and dining locations. Leigh was very communicative and quickly answered any questions we had. It was a great trip and we'd love to come back!

  • Denise definitely earns her super host title and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. This is our second stay with her. Her places are clean, well furnished and equipped and she is a first class lady and hostess! Saxis is a special place for her to share with you. Recommend to all.

    David2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The small town of Saxis is a hidden gem. Take a moment to slow down, unwind, turn off the screen, and just be a part of the quaint neighborhood, where everyone is nice, just like the good ole days! Denise's home is perfect....again! Always clean. Great communication. Can't wait to return!

  • lovely comfy cottage in an ideal setting. Breathtakingly beautiful sunset views from the edge of the island or a short walk down the lane. the island and surrounding marshes are great spots for connecting with friendly local folks (don’t miss Captain E’s Tikki Bar and Grill!) and spotting abundant birds and other wildlife. the host supplies coffee and tea but if you need anything more be sure to shop before you get to the island.

    Deborah2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Denise’s home. Cozy, homey, and clean with everything you could need. Saxis is peaceful and beautiful and it’s a great jumping off point for a beach weekend in Chincoteague/Assateague.

    Alexander2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully clean and organized house, very good kitchen—easy to cook in. Saxis is both off the beaten track and very convenient for the beaches at Assateague and the towns and inlets of the Eastern Shore, I especially recommend the kayaking in Onancock and the Saxis Island museum. Denise was a great host, responded quickly to all my questions and knows a lot about the Saxis area.

A private bedroom upstairs (and private master bath with soaking tub) sleeps two and also has a pullout sofa for one or two additional guests. A separate spiral staircase leads to a smaller open loft bedroom with a double bed and a small balcony.
Start your day sipping coffee on the dock while watching the local watermen head out to catch the Bay's famous crabs that will be delivered to restaurants as far away as New York City. Meanwhile, you can try your luck with the dockside traps - you’re likely to catch prized blue crabs for the night’s dinner. As the day warms up, enjoy a good book, go for a swim, or just be. Breathe in the tranquility of the surroundings, the sound of the water lapping at the shore, and the warmth of the breeze. Be sure to keep an eye out for bald eagles, blue herons, and osprey soaring overhead, while gulls and pelicans dive for fish. Ready for a little bit of adventure? Rumbley is surrounded by miles of tidal bays, rivers, and lush woodlands; this is nature's masterpiece, a paradise for outdoor sportsmen, recreationists, nature lovers, and the ideal backdrop for family entertainment. Launch the cottage’s two kayaks from the small walk-in beach next to the dock, use the bicycles to ride the local roads, or head out to explore, stroll, and bird-watch in the nearby wildlife management areas including Deal Island, Janes Island, Cedar Island Marsh Sanctuary, and others. Goose Creek Marina is two blocks away from the house with a public boat launch and access to charter boats while Great Hope Golf Course, “one of the most beautiful golf courses on the Eastern Seaboard” is minutes away with a full clubhouse and Caddyshack bar and grill. Further afield, an hour by car, are bustling Ocean City (MD) and the shoreline sanctuaries on Assateague and Chincoteague Islands, still home to the famous wild horses described in the 1947 classic children’s book, Misty of Chincoteague. As the sun begins to set, why go inside? The sky is dark here, and there are spectacular stars to see while relaxing around the fire pit or grilling dinner. Need a little more action? Drive around the corner and enjoy music at the Hideaway Grill tiki bar and restaurant, open seasonally.

  • Kevin and Patricia are super hosts; very kind and caring. Place was very clean and tidy and refrigerator fully stocked with water and juices plus pastries, coffee station, microwave, etc. The view of Chesapeake Bay was priceless. Fish are jumping out of water so bring your rod and reels. We will definitely be back.

Rumbley Cottage, a custom-built home, and sits on the Tangier Sound and provides a quiet stay in nature. Standing in the middle of the living room, you look out one side to the mouth of the Manokin River at Tangier Sound and at the other side the vast expanse of wetlands. Fall and winter are a great time to come and relax by the wood-burning fireplace in the living room. Firewood, kindling and fire starters are among the many amenities we provide.
This is not Rehobeth Beach nor Ocean City. It is for folks looking for a quite, beach getaway, swimming in a gentle surf, watching the nesting ospreys on the shoreline, watching sunsets , reading on the porch.... There is no internet in the neighborhood. Fortunately, there is good cell service and you can work your Ipads, notebooks and lap tops off your personal hot spot. That is, IF you have to work :) Please note: The last couple hundred yards is on an unpaved road.
The "neighborhood" is a small country road with houses on the left side of the one road which fronts the coastline and the wetlands on the right side. There is a marina a mile away with a tiki bar/restaurant - The Hideaway Grill at Goosecreek Marina that has the best crab cakes. It is a great place to enjoy a freshly-squeezed Orange Crush and Smith Island Cake. It is open from 11AM-9PM Thursdays through Sundays. Their season ends sometime in October.
  • We loved Kristina’s place! The view from every room was fantastic. We especially loved the fireplace and the well-equipped kitchen, and watching the herons fish on the beach. Highly recommend staying here for a peaceful getaway.

    Nick2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Of all the Air bnbs we’ve been to this was one of our favorite. Steps from the beach with a huge fireplace. Spacious interior and very comfortable bed. Kristina was great with communication.

  • Rumbley Cottage is an absolute gem!!! There is gorgeous, natural lighting throughout the entire home. The open, spaciousness of the layout was so special and the marshes and sound were so unique and beautiful. We saw many birds and loved the real wood fireplace. The back porch is lovely and all amenities that you would need are there. So---do it! We will be back. Dianne and Mark Chambersburg, PA

  • Yes - It’s everything you see as advertised - Katrina delivers an excellent oasis with beautiful views and accommodations at Rumbley Cottage.

    Stephen2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Glorious sunsets, roaring open fire, gorgeously furnished and a super responsive host. We enjoyed hikes in Chincoteague, Pocomoke River Forest Park and Tuckahoe State Park. Bicycles brilliant and roads nice and quiet for cycling. One snafu was dealt with super quickly - the fire basket needed to be pushed right back against the chimney or the room gets smoked! Thank you so much for having us - definitely hope to be back!

    Geraldine2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage by the bay was a trip back in time. The quiet soothed my city soul, and the darkness made for great sleep. There is nothing better than looking at water while sitting by the fire. The well equipped kitchen made cooking easy. A true treasure!

    Tami2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful! The house was beautiful and amazingly clean, and Kristina was fantastic - answered questions immediately and made sure everything was ready for our arrival. The beach is so cute and kept three kids, ages 11, 9, and 4, entertained for three days; shells and driftwood were turned into sculptures and even a sandman was built on the beach (he was adorable:-)) Even though it was November the weather was great and the fireplace was wonderful for the cold nights. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets and towels were SO SOFT. Can't wait to return in warmer weather so the kids can swim a bit! Totally, 100 percent recommend!

    Melinda2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rumbley cottage has everything you need for a breathtaking coastal getaway. I enjoyed being away from the busy DC area and surrounded by nature. The porch was my dog and my favorite spot especially for coffee and sunsets. The beach is right in the backyard! I loved how I didn’t need to lug beach chairs or coolers for this trip everything is close by. The kitchen is best stocked in all my Air bnb trips from coffee, nice thoughtful touches from the host and cooking essentials. I slept great listening to quiet waves each night. The town is small which I enjoyed being able to just unplug and cook at the cottage. Thank you Kristina!

Quaint, rustic eastern shore cottage located in historic Saxis Island Virginia. Close to Chincoteague. Fishing, boating, and beach all within a 5 minute walk. An authentic working fishing village that offers a truly peaceful and relaxing experience. Bayside at it's best and seaside a short drive away.
Bayside cottage is a simple, rustic eastern shore home. Nothing fancy.
Saxis is a quiet, safe, friendly community. A town where everyone says hello.

All my questions were swiftly answered with lots of great recommendations for where to eat. Don’t miss the museum. The history of Saxis is amazing. • Beautiful old, unique house in a quiet village with spectacular sunsets over the bay. We loved riding the bicycles around town, and learning about local history at the nearby small museum and from a book at the house.

    Sophie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cottage so we could see the rocket launch at Wallop's Island the next morning. The cottage had everything we needed, with space for more. Our kids just adored the twin beds. Vickie was very responsive and gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the area. Check in was a breeze. Would highly recommend for a remote getaway!

  • We could not have asked for more. It doesn’t matter which place of theirs that you stay in, they treat you as if you’re spending a full week in a mansion bed and breakfast. Hosts are so polite and inviting that we didn’t want to leave our new found friends. The house was modern, clean, fully loaded with everything we needed, and it had a beautiful view. Check-in/out was a dream. We are making a point to return in the future as we could not have asked for a better experience. The hosts are top-notch to say the least and the house was well beyond our expectations.

    Dj2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is perfect for two people and a small dog. It sits in a finger of the bay off a main channel whose noise you never hear. Bald eagles and shorebirds are plentiful. The pool and dock are inviting, and the hosts are attentive and entertaining. Bring PFDs and boats to paddle your heart out.

    Amy2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spacious , we were group of 7 and had enough room to sit together and sleep. There are 3 bedrooms and also extra beds and extra room. The backyard is really huge and had enough parking/playing space. Space was clean and had all basic amenities. Special mention for the in-house laundry which is really helpful if you are going to beach. Beach(Tom's Cove) is 30 mins away and same place has a lot of happening pubs/restaurant. Denise was quick in pleasantly responding with the key code and other queries. Wifi was on a slower side probably because 7 of us connected, it was not a big deal for us as we never planned on working. Overall it was a very nice experience and would highly recommend booking this place if you are in this area.

  • There are those times when you just feel like you're staying with an old friend even though you've never met, and our stay with Evelyn was exactly that. Really appreciated her great hospitality and excellent suggestions on what to do in the area - she even loaned me a shirt to wear for a paddling outing! Thanks to Evelyn and her other guest's suggestion, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at an out of the way tiny restaurant that we never would have found on our own. Our room was very comfortable, the evening conversations on the front porch most memorable, and Evelyn even had some light breakfast fare for us in the morning. This really is what airbnb is all about. Thank you, Evelyn, for such a pleasant visit - we hope to see you again!

  • Crisfield is a unique and enjoyable little town that is worth a visit. Evelyn's is located just a mile or so from the town in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful Victorian homes dotting everywhere. The porch is perfect for chatting, and reading. Her craftmanship and artistry is remarkable. Expect to climb some stairs when you stay...and the room was quickly cooled so don't worry about hot summer nights. Try some of her amazing baked goods!!

  • The home is, in my opinion more beautiful than the photos. The photos are accurate, but don't depict the sunny, airy quality. Super stylish. It is one floor with two separate bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and comfy eating area. Spotless clean. We spent virtually all our time outside. We put in our kayaks off the dock and just spent our days exploring Jane's Island. The sun sets over Jane's Island right in front of the house. It is very quiet and beautiful. Adam and Betsy were super prompt and responsive with communication. All questions were answered pretty instantly. Couldn't ask for better hosts. Crisfield is not a tourist hot spot, just sayin' but people were all very nice.

    Larisa2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing attention to detail and unbelievable pride in ownership. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Adam & Betsy’s. We arrived to a generous care package. Crabs were plentiful off the dock. The sunsets were stunning. Excellent, prompt communication with any questions or needs we had. These are thoughtful, mindful folks, truly consummate hosts. We couldn’t have had a better time and are already looking forward to returning next year.

Millard Tawes Museum. located on the water at the end of Ninth St on Somers Cove. The museum has programs throughout the season. You can find more information on the Crisfield Heritage Foundation website or check them out on Facebook. Crisfield is the gateway to the only inhabited islands of the Chesapeake. May to October take a day trip to Smith Island MD or Tangier Island VA. The Tangier boat, Steven Thomas, leaves from Somers Cove at the end of 10th St. The boats to Smith Island leave from the city dock. Tickets can be purchased at those locations. If you are interested in water activities there is swimming at our Wellington Beach. Favorite places to kayak are in town at Wellington Beach or nearby Janes Island State park (rent or bring yours). If you kayak from the park to Flat Cap Beach pack a lunch, take a chair, towel and bug spray. It is beautiful out there! Fishing charters are available. Check the county tourism website at "Visit Somerset" for a list of boat captains you can contact. If you bring your boat, slips can be rented at Somers Cove Marina,. Public boat launches and fish cleaning stations are at Somers Cove or Janes Island Park. You can check both out online or at the Somerset county tourism website We have many "seasons" here on the Eastern Shore. Crabbing season runs from April to October. Oysters run from October to March/April . Rockfish or striper season comes and goes due to DNR rules. For ornithologists, bird watching is year around, but the big "birding season" is during the spring and fall migrations of April and October. Breath taking photography is year around! Check county, city and tourism websites for activities. A description of the neighborhood wouldn't be complete without mentioning Maryland's official dessert, Smith Island cake. . The Smith Island Baking Company is located just a block and a half from your door on Chesapeake Avenue. Stop for a slice or purchase a whole cake! You can't miss it with the bright yellow and white decoration!
  • Cute, comfy cottage just as described. Had everything we needed, plus a very comfortable bed and great local tips and maps. Biking distance to the pier, Main Street, Janes Island State Park and Food Lion. Hour distance from Chincoteague Island where we beached twice. Friendly hosts. Can’t beat the price! We would love to stay again if we’re in the area!

  • Kathleen & Dave made our stay at Crisfield SO welcoming & enjoyable! The house had all the bells and whistles. Kathleen went above and beyond to make sure we had a relaxing stay. She was super generous & made our trip VERY special. Highly recommend! The Chincoteague beach was close & had delicious tacos nearby at Picos! Definitely stay here for a quiet, rejuvenating vacation!

  • This house is more spacious than expected. Our hosts made us feel right at home and Crisfield is the friendliest town I have ever been to.

    Joy2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great spot! Kathleen and Dave checked in every few days. The house was very clean and had everything we needed!

    Liz2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely to have whole house to ourselves. Kitchen is truly complete, even coffee, creamer & sugar. We stayed there to be faily close to Chincoteague , & it worked fine. If you are a member, there is a beautiful American Legion in town with deck to watch the sunset over the water.

    Henry2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay and explore the area. The house is very retro and reminded me of staying at my grandma’s house. It had a great shower and was very comfortable! Don’t forget to explore Crisfield. It’s a great town with very nice people! The hosts are very accommodating! All in all a great time!

Charming waterfront cottage like house on Coalburn Creek. Get away from it all, gather with friends and family around the fire pit on your private beach, take a kayak out for breathtaking views and abundent wildlife, fish and crab right at your dock. Pure relaxation is just 2-3 hours from D.C and Baltimore. With plenty of space, a brilliant sunroom and comfortable accomodations your trip will not be long enough. There is NO Wifi at this home. Disconnect and get back to the simpler things.
This is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is NO wifi but plenty of nature. The town is small and quaint.
This is the true Eastern Shore. Folks are friendly and inviting. This is not a "tourist" town per se but there is still plenty to do as a visitor and it will feel like a diffferent world. I love having my coffee in the all season room in the morning and watching the water on the rocks and the wildlife as they wake up with me.
  • If you like to kayak right from your doorstep, this is the place for you! If you prefer hanging in a hammock- perfect. My friends and I enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing and comfortable weekend at this property. Lindsey was a great host who quickly responded and accommodated our needs

    Vicki2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The check in time is at 3pm. Make sure you get there by 3pm and dont do like I did. I arrived there after 7pm & I regretted not spending more time in that beautiful home.

    Alfa2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home with all the ameneties you could want! We had a wonderful time just enjoying the house and the water. We watched a blue heron fishing while we drank our coffee and later caught crabs right out of the water by the dock. Plenty of space to cook for a crowd, spread out and eat crabs! Just a short drice from Chincoteague beach which is just a lovely place too. Lindsey was sure to check in, offer reminders about check-in and out procedures and was also gracious after a little incident with the house!

    Danny2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was a breeze and the house exceeded our expectations. The views are to die for and anything you may have forgotten is already there. If you are looking to un plug from reality and enjoy the simple things, pick this house! I enjoyed my morning coffee in the sun room, kayaking in the afternoon and s’mores at night in the fire pit. Bay side beach access is 15 minutes away and seeing the wild ponies is only 45 minutes away.

  • A very relaxing place, a fair description of the house and the environment, we sincerely recommend!

    Cédric2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful, quiet place to unwind. The place is accurately described, and has most everything you can think of for home items: toaster, pots/pans, plenty of dishes and towels, dishwasher, and washer/ dryer; which is far more than I have found in my other airbnb stays in the past. The one piece that is hard to put into words is the excellent care and attention Mary devotes to her guests. A big thank you goes out to Mary and Brian for all you did for us!

    Valerie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and a perfect size. There were kayaks and canoes provided which was super fun. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and the grill came in handy as well. The host was very welcoming and helpful throughout our trip. We had a great time on our vacation.

    Lexi2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s place is ideal for getting away from the hostile and bustle. Her house is in a beautiful spot just a short paddle away from a private beach on the bay. We put the kayaks and canoe in the back of our SUV for the very short distance to the let in. Our kids had a great time paddling out through a winding creak with Ospreys, crabs, snails and frogs as the companions. We paddled out into the bay and watched boats sail past and birds flying overhead. Another highlight was taking a cruise on the Skipjack Katheryn on the bay. Sailing on the bay and learning about oystering and the history on Deal Island from true locals was an experience we won’t forget. We also loved the Skipjack festival during the Labor Day weekend. It was great fun. Deal Island is quiet and picturesque place. Mary’s house well equipped and she really went out of her way to make us feel at home. The beds were comfortable and the AC was great on the hot summer nights. All in all it was a perfect trip. Thank you Mary. We would definitely come back.

    Joe2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for an adventure? This place made us feel like explorers. We hiked and kayaked and canoed most days. Getting the canoes to the dropoff location was a bit of a task with children but overall was worth the effort. The kids enjoyed the area and home. Traveling to Princess Anne for eating and shopping wasn't an issue. We went to the public beach one evening. It was very quiet and serene. Make sure you're wearing your water shoes, even when in the beach water as there are roots that will cut you pretty badly! Also, there are large, biting beach flies, so don't forget your bug repellent. I followed the advice of others and brought extra towels since we had a larger group.

    Heather2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect location to enjoy many of the attractions in Maryland/Virginia and still experience the true relaxation of the peaceful Deal Island community. My family and I spent time in Assateague, Chincoteague, Smith Island, Salisbury and of course Deal Island while staying at the Relax Inn. We were VERY thankful that we took the suggestion of booking a fishing charter with Captain Harry- this was one of our favorite experiences in our week vacation. Mary and Brian are gracious hosts and I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable home away from home!

    Jenn2018-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I had a wonderful visit at Mary's home on Deal Island. It is a great place to unwind and relax. It is remote, so bring everything you need to avoid having to replenish groceries etc...We kayaked a lot. For us, it wasn't an issue to carry the kayaks the short distance to the drop in location. We also brought an inflatable kayak for day trips. We kayaked often to the private beach to view the amazing sunsets, which were truly spectacular. We also kayaked to Little Deal Island, just for fun. I highly recommend taking a day trip to Assateague, about an hour away, we saw a lot of wild horses and the beaches are beautiful!

    Jenifer2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Every day was an adventure for our family of five (with younger children) canoeing and kayaking to the private beach was amazing and exciting, we had the whole beach to ourselves all day to swim and play and islands appeared as the tide went out. The public beach is great for collecting beautiful sea glass. Assateague Island was an hour away and wonderful for spending the day at the ocean with wild horses coming up to visit you. We had a wonderful time and made great family memories. The house and area is private and quiet; getting to the private beach takes a bit of effort, but well worth it, the public beach is easy to access. I do recommend bringing your own gallons of drinking water which was not a big deal at all but necessary. There is a grocery store in Princess Ann if you want to stop before heading into Deal Island and pick up groceries and water. Mary & Brian were wonderful hosts and were very attentive and responsive to any questions we had. We had a lovely time and recommend Relax Inn for a fun vacation.

  • Thoughtful responsive host and clean, bright and super spacious house with high ceilings. The guest bed is verrry comfortable, the renovated bathroom just delightful. I was in town off season, so I can't say what Crisfield has to offer to warm weather visitors. I was here for calm and quiet away from city life and I got that! No street noise to speak of but a dog nearby barked nonstop from 7 to 7:30 am, just not bad enough to keep me away next time I'm in town. Thank you Linda for your gracious hospitality. :-) I recommend the peaceful town dock for watching the sunset. A few miles away, Janes Island park (the visitor center closed for winter) opens to even wider skies and soothing Chesapeake seascape vistas.

Our peaceful and usually quiet town is nestled around an expansive river known as the Pocomoke River. It is also a Historic area and there are a few sites to visit right here in Pocomoke City MD. Our town offers a park at the scenic river, a museum, coffee house as well as a theater. There are many events held here (example: the 4th Friday of each month an Art Stroll is steps away with music and food) and the other small towns that litter the Eastern Shore. Events held close by could bring more activity, but for the most part this is a laid-back town. There are canoe and kayak rentals nearby at the Shad State Park. Our town is still growing and we hope you tell people about our area once your return home, so that you can assist in the town's growth. We are centrally located between the Chesapeake Bay and the Ocean. Salisbury MD is approximately 30 minutes away. Close to so much!! Two beaches and nature centers. Assateague (40 min) & Chincoteague (30 min), Antique Shopping, Dining, River for Scenic Views, plus much more! From time-to-time there are special events held in Pocomoke City as well as the surrounding areas.

  • I searched for a place on the Eastern Shore in August last minute which is always a big no-no; I was therefore very lucky to come across Susan's Airbnb in Pocomoke City. The accessibility of the ocean and cute nearby towns like Berlin make Susan's place a great Airbnb, especially for the bargain price I paid! The interior was spacious, clean, and the beds were comfy. I also loved being able to take my dog with me on the trip and walking him around quaint Pocomoke City. I'd highly recommend Susan's place!

    Gaige2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place is right in the historic section of Pocomoke City and there are a number of things to do right outside your door, but you also feel entirely removed from the tourist hubbub that you'll encounter closer to the beach. The place is very well located to easily reach most of the attractions of the the Eastern Shore in a very short drive, whether it's a ferry ride to Smith or Tangier Island or a day on Assateague beach. My daughters were treated to a production of "Rapunzel" put on by local teens at the Mar-Va theater a black down the street, which was a real treat. The accommodations were perfect and my daughters wanted to stay in their "new house" permanently. Looking forward to returning!

  • What a gem. With a private entrance we were able to come and go as we pleased. Extras such as bottled water, a USB charging station, pamphlets on local attractions, extra towels, and such made it very comfortable. Located in a cute historic town with a museum, restaurants, churches, and a draw bridge. We brought our four month old puppy and she did great and was very welcomed. Highly recommend.

Everything was clean, and I truly appreciated the little extra things around the house. Ample space, and two full bathrooms. Plenty of parking. It is about an hour from Ocean City, but a pretty straight drive. Janes Island is very close and also a option for vacationers. This house certainly feels like your home away from home. Will certainly try to be back in the future. 5 stars all the way!

  • This place was clean and very well appointed. We didn't want for anything during our stay and the nicely stocked kitchen made it easy to save money by preparing our own meals. The heat outside was sweltering but the window A/C units were more than capable. Having two showers in a three bedroom place made getting out the door in the morning very easy. This was a great airbnb and we recommend it to anyone looking for a place on the Eastern Shore.

Great place to shelter from Corona virus COVID-19. The place is in a sparsely populated area with nearby usually empty beach and little traffic. Has Wifi and Dish TV. The Deal Island Bay cottage has not occupied since January and ready for your family and pet. Crabbing Country. Short walk to Chesapeake bay beach where you can see beautiful sunsets that you normally would have to go to Key West to see. Quiet, dog pet-friendly, family-friendly. Please, no cats.
Come enjoy the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay in a relaxing and peaceful way. The Deal Island Bay Cottage on Maryland's Eastern Shore situated on a large lot, is a place where you can unwind from the daily stresses of the beltway life. You can watch the sunrise every morning as you eat breakfast from the cozy dining room or the screened in porch, while a symphony of bird sounds provide the music and entertainment. During the day, bring a bay kayak and float out into beautiful Tangier Sound with your friends. You can also Go crabbing in special spots known only to locals. (Instructions for 'chicken necking' are in the journal as well as the best spot to get huge crabs.) Please note that this property is not on the water. The bay beach is a short walk or drive over the nearby bridge to a gravel lot where you can see the sunsets, swim, or search for old glass. In the fall / winter use it as your base for Duck and water fowl hunting in the huge Deal Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Deal Island is a year-round Watermen community. Waterman are the people that ply the bay for crabs for their livlihood.
It is quiet and everyone minds their own business, but they are friendly if you interact with them at the local store. In town, there is Lucky's Last Chance which is a convenience store which also sells prepared food which you can eat in the back dining area or take it to go. There is a pet/dog friendly beach nearby. At the end of the Island, is Wenona and there is a place there called Arby's which sells items as well as bait and propane if needed. For major food supplies and shopping, you should stop at the Food Lion before turning on Deal Island Rd on Route 13. It is one signal north of Deal Island Rd. on 13. There are also restaurants up and down 13, and a Walmart and Lowe's and Dollar Tree in Pocomoke City about 8 miles south of Deal Island Rd. on route 13.
  • Great place. Although we didn’t end up needing to, host agreed to let us check out a bit later than the time specified. Would definitely come back.

  • Our family of 5 and 1 dog enjoyed our stay. 3 bedrooms allowed the humans to spread out & the deck & huge backyard for our dog to rest & play. House was clean & met our needs; kitchen, cable tv, lots of towels & most important... wifi for everyone's tech toys. Fab was quick to answer questions. Quick drive to the nearby beach or road trip to Ocean City and Asseteague Park. Thanks!

  • Great! We stayed here because we brought our dogs for the Ironman Maryland, so it was a little bit out of the way. However, it was a great stay. The house is homey, spacious, and clean with all the amenities! The area around it is very quiet. The closest grocery store is 15 minutes away and there is only one restaurant in the near vicinity that is not great, so like the other reviews, I would recommend grabbing some food and making it there. The water has a sulphur smell so I would also grab some jugs of water to drink from. There was tons of coffee and all the kitchen supplies that you would need. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here!

I REALLY ENJOYED MY STAY AND WISHED MY VIST WAS LONGER... SO AS I CLOSE ,WITH THE FAMOUS PHASE OF THE WONDERFUL ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER I’LL BE BACK! :) THANKS AZIYA :)

  • Fab’s place was absolutely delightful. Quiet & so peaceful. House was more spacious than we were expecting. Fit our group of five (and two dogs) perfectly. He was quick to respond to any questions we had. Beds were super comfy. Bathrooms and kitchen stocked with whatever you need. Literally a minute drive away from the beach. Beautiful beach. Beautiful sunsets. Stores are 20/30 minutes away so do your shopping beforehand. Thank you for being a wonderful host! We will most definitely be back.

    Megan2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible sunset at the beach right over the bridge from the home. The beach is an actual beach on the bay...sand and all. make sure you pick up your groceries before you arrive ….its a 25 min ride to the grocery store. Host is communicative. strong wifi and dish network.

Farmhouse located in a rural setting just minutes off of Route 13 in Princess Anne, MD. Enjoy a peaceful farm experience while staying in a charming farmhouse with lots of character. You can walk the grounds of the farm or take a swim in the pool. There is a fenced in yard for your pets ($50 pet fee per pet). We are minutes to shopping, groceries, restaurants, UMES, and a short ride to Chincoteague (32 miles) and Ocean City (40 miles). Our farmhouse is quaint but has modern conveniences.
You can spend the day with your family at Chincoteague or Ocean City and then enjoy a peaceful setting at night at our farmhouse.
Our farmhouse is a convenient location for families attending local events such as the UMES graduation, Crisfield Crab and Clam Bake, Dock Day on the Bay, Chincoteague Seafood Festival, and the Chincoteague Pony Swim.
  • Tracy and Daryl are wonderful hosts and the farm is absolutely delightful! I felt like we were staying in a relative’s house jam packed with things to read and look at!

    Gail2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • They were so helpful and hospitable. Our family loved walking on the grounds and swimming in the pool. The house was comfortable and we highly recommend it.

  • This home is so charming and comfortable! It’s full of antiques and Knick-knacks, its clean, it has a lovely backyard and pool, and the land is beautiful! We walked our dog past horses and chickens each morning, it was amazing! Tracy was so easy to get in touch with and made booking, check in, and check out a breeze. Daryl was so nice and accommodating during our stay and was always available for questions. I highly recommend!

    Matthew2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here. Having the pool and being able to walk around the farm was great. The upstairs where the beds are felt clean and updated and kept cool on the hot days. We met Daryl and he was a great guy. Would recommend!

    Brittany2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Princess Anne Horse Ranch. The house had fun equestrian themed decor and made it a fun place to stay. The hosts were very pleasant and offered great recommendations. We really loved seeing the horses everyday. We would recommend staying at this house to anyone.

    Jamie2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This space is an absolute treat to stay at! Our family stayed over the week of the pony swim at chincoteague. It’s at the perfect location between ocean city for the beach or chincoteague for the swim! The atmosphere of this space complimented our vacation even so much more than we expected! - the horse farm was a nice addition, along with the chickens and the squeaky clean pool! The host was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed! The house was also sparkling clean and had a very homey feeling! Would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

    Nick2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very charming. I would highly recommend this home. It was very peaceful. Has everything you have at home and beautiful sights. We really enjoyed the horses, chickens, small dogs and cat. Daryl the person on site is very knowledgeable of the area he was helpful when looking for places to eat. We got to talk a few times and he shared with me the history of the home and the newer home he is restoring next door. Thank you Daryl and Tracy.

    Jason2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Deep rooted family historical home....Do not expect perfection this is a farm house but you can expect accommodating communicative host's which one lives next door, Daryl. He is a very nice person and so are the staff that work on this farm. The home has a fully functioning kitchen with a stocked regular coffee pot. All the bedrooms are upstairs. The bottom floor has central air while the upstairs relies on window units. There is a full bathroom downstairs and one upstairs...essentials are provided. The salt water pool was such an added bonus. We walked around the farm and saw the chickens and fed the horses carrots. During the day this is a working farm with a business..so lots of activity.

This private get-away features two full bedrooms, one full bathroom, full kitchen, laundry, and tv. We do have internet for basic use but ask that you do not stream on the wifi as it is data limited; easy parking, you can launch/recover kayaks into Manokin river nearby. • Bridget's place is beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable. The tranquility of its setting is extraordinary. It's amenities are even better than one might expect. The location is near a variety of Eastern Shore possibilities, and Bridget is a super guide in helping you find them. She is available for anything you might need, but offers privacy if you want. Our stay was splendid.

  • This place is absolutely gorgeous! If you are looking for a private, peaceful place to get away to, this is it! Yet it’s not so secluded that it’s far away from everything! The place is open, spacious & the sleeping accommodations are great! I stayed with my family of 4...we cooked in the lovely kitchen and had a great time. The host was most gracious and responded to us quickly! I’d definitely book this place again!

    Yvette2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget's place was great. Clean and comfortable. She was great with communication and helpful.

  • You know how life is so crazy go-go-go sometimes and you wake up one day and suddenly 6 months has flown by? That was us! We needed a getaway, even if it was just for the night. And this was the perfect place for it. We’re from Hampton Roads so the drive there and back was scenic and relaxing. We took our time and explored along the way. Bridget was wonderful about communicating (directions, check-in, even giving us a heads up on speed traps she and Brian has noticed that day!) The property is gorgeous. So quiet and peaceful. It was exactly what we needed. Although Bridget and Brian also live on the property, you wouldn’t know it. Unless you need something or have a question and then they’re available in a flash. Truly excellent hosts!! Please check out this tucked away gem if you get the chance!

    Caroline2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is above and beyond. Above and beyond hosts! Above and beyond space! And above and beyond views! We stayed for three weeks for a work trip. The space was clean, and the hosts went the extra mile to prepare it for our longer stay by stocking the kitchen with staples. At one point, Bridget even brought us flowers fresh cut from her garden and some fresh veggies! If you are looking for a party spot, this is not it, but if you are looking for a beautiful and relaxing spot to stay and use as home-base for vacation or work this is for you.

    Patricia2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget is awesome!!! Great experience!!!

  • Great location if you're looking for something quiet but close enough to a small town to get essentials. The space is well thought-out with everything you need to stay in. Bring binoculars if you enjoy bird watching - we saw several eagles (and other songbirds) during our weekend stay.

The LaVallette House is where the Maryland terrapin originated! Albert T. LaVallette, Jr., launched the terrapin soup industry from this very site. (You can still see the old terrapin pins beside the driveway.) In addition to the property’s historic charm, the location just can’t be beat. The four-bedroom house is completely private. Guests have to drive through wetlands to get it, and the only neighbors in close proximity are the gulls and the fish in the Chesapeake Bay.
It is a fishing village that dates back to the time of Captain John Smith. It is earlier days the bay was known for it's oysters. Albert LaVallette built the home for his wife and 3 children. Crisfield was a thriving town in the early 1900's The train came all the way to the dock in town to load all kinds of fish, crustaceans and turtles from the surrounding waters. Today, it is a sleepy little gem working to bring tourism back to its brackish shores.
  • This historic and comfortable little gem on the Chesapeake Bay brought our family so much joy. The interior of the home is large and full of charm and personal decorative touches. The location on an outcropping of land surrounded by water on three sides and a wildlife sanctuary on the fourth was peaceful and wildly scenic (birds, crabs, boats, deer). But the best amenity was the two screened porches so you could sit in relative comfort and take it all in. To say we spent 50% of our time on the larger porch wouldn’t be an over statement. It was the perfect set up for our 6 adults and 1 toddler family vacation. If you like for your vacation home to have a story, you’re looking to get away from it all, and you enjoy being among nature, this home is for you. And when you want crab cakes or a flounder sandwich, go into town (5 min drive) to Water’s Edge Cafe and shop for treasures at The Bay Gift Vault. Take a dip in the water or play on the playground at Wellington Beach. And drop into Smith Island Cake Co. and pick up the delicious cake of Maryland (the original and lemon cream were fantastic! Small cakes are just $27 each). Ginny was a fantastic host, and we were grateful for her accessibility but the space she gave us to enjoy our week together as family. We would love to return some day.

    Kate2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Ginny's place! She was great at communication and it was an amazing weekend!

    Nathan2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This house is breathtaking as you come down the driveway. Fully equipped house allows you and your family to enjoy the most relaxing vacation ever. Plenty of room inside and out!

    Samantha2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a unique location! My friends and I had a rejuvenating weekend kayaking, grilling, and enjoying a spectacular thunderstorm. The place is very large - we were able to put a one-year-old to bed and then play foosball and loud music on the opposite side of the house without him stirring. Ginny was very helpful and communicative. The one downside is limited bedrooms - you can comfortable fit a lot of people given how many beds and couches there are, but if each couple needs a private room then you can really only take 3 couples and maybe a few single people willing to sleep on the (quite comfortable) futons/couches. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely stay here again!

    Nathaniel2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely a unique location - one of a kind. Great place for a family reunion or a quite get-away. Very remote and private. This house sits on a wildlife sanctuary so very close to nature. If you don't mind a few gnats hovering around the lights at night, you will have great time. Bring lots of drinking water and some but spray and enjoy the sunrise & sunset on a private dock in the bay.

    David2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful scenic spot of the Chesapeake Bay. My friends and I rented it for a weekend getaway from the city and couldn't have asked for a better location. The house is very spacious with two different screened in porches, has a private dock and small beach, surrounded by water and beautiful views. Ginny provides everything you need - towels, linens, grill, etc. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

    Maura2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a one of a kind place. A great weekend full of kayaking, paddle boarding, pulling fresh oysters out of the bay and steaming fresh crabs right off the boat. I look forward to our next visit.

  • Denise was so kind and helpful throughout the booking process. The home itself is nestled in a quiet community with lovely people. The home was clean and well maintained with plenty of rooms/space. The added touch of leaving the heater on so it would be warm when we arrived was perfect after a chilly drive over. It was a fantastic weekend and I will gladly book another reservation in this home again!
