Places to stay in Westmore
Tiny, cozy, off-grid camp cabin on 14 acres in an old orchard clearing in the forest in the Lake Willoughby town of Westmore. Being off-grid, the cabin has no electricity, heats with a wood stove, and facilities are an outhouse with a composting toilet. Nestled in the majestic Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, sleep tucked in a loft. In the warmer months, have a glass of wine by the fire under the stars, in winter, by the wood stove. Enjoy... See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=574OLxvJmYM
In the warm months, stomp the streams that run the property and put your toes in Lake Willoughby as you sip coffee in the morning. Throughout the year, draw water from the stream. Launch your kayak or go mountain biking. In the winter months, cross-country or downhill ski at Burke, Craftsbury, local state and national parks, or Kingdom Trails Association. Fat bike winter or summer. Enjoy...
Our neighborhood consists of a few homes which share Coles Mountain and the eye-popping views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. There is a golf course run by Mr. Cole, who is a maple sugaring master, born on the mountain some time ago. There is an amazing wedding venue called the Little Wedding Barn run by his daughter with stunning views.
  • Wonderful place! Very quiet region with good trekking. We had a very good stay. The communication with Amy is very simple and all the instructions are very clear. I really recommend this place.

  • Really great off the grid location, beautiful in the Fall. Would come back again!

  • We had a great time ! This place is awesome if you want to relax surrounded by the nature <3 :-)

    Steve2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect, adorable cabin. Clean and meticulously organized. A fun tree swing. Not as buggy as we expected. Convenient to Lake Willoughby but off the beaten path. The cutest, cleanest outhouse ever.

  • This place is a haven. You feel as if you're in your own magical world, a world that (thank you Amy and Fire Guru!) has been very thoughtfully arranged. The cabin, though small, feels inviting, cozy, and comforting, with everything in its right place. A stream runs nearby (a one minute walk into the forest) for a cool morning dip, and the lake is a pretty drive away (perhaps three minutes). I am eager to return!

  • Amy & Brian's cabin is one of the most magical places we've had the pleasure of staying. Not only is the cabin perfect, but the property it lies on is absolutely gorgeous. Think old growth apple trees under a deep blue sky, with a nice breeze blowing through the open field. It's off the beaten path, making it truly private, while also being just up the road from the lake and other amenities. The cabin itself was easy to find and even easier to relax into. It's one of those places where you just immediately feel at home. The care and planning that went into the property is quite apparent, with a beautiful (seriously) outhouse, outdoor solar shower, large stone-lined fire pit, picnic table w/ umbrella, chairs, wash basin, etc. There are mini gardens scattered about and birds chirping. It's truly a happy place to be. The nighttime revealed one of the clearest skies we've seen in a LONG time, with countless shooting stars. The spiral arms of the Milky Way were very visible. A thunderstorm rolled in around bedtime and lulled us to sleep. The sleeping loft has two large windows that push open so you can keep them open even during the rain. Like other reviews mention, the battery powered LED lighting (candles/led strips) are generously located in every nook of the cabin, along with solar lighting in front of the outhouse, making it more than easy to find your way outside or hang out and play card games in the cabin at night. Even if Lake Willoughby wasn't 5 minutes down the road, this place would be worth a stay, but seeing that the lake is so close, it just adds to the allure. We easily popped our kayak into the lake at the closest boat launch and adventured for hours. A quick trip to Lyndonville offered a wonderful diner for breakfast as well as lunch at a delicious deli/store, along with a little resupply at a local market. Do not hesitate to stay here. Unplug, relax, and revitalize.

  • This place is beyond cute. If you're looking for a very peaceful getaway, this would be it.

  • A great place to get away from it all. Amy’s tiny house was beautiful and felt like you had your own private oasis. Our time here flew by and we will definitely return to see this property in the winter.

For a short time a special discount will be offered for any three night stay during this winter. Now is the time to enjoy a winter in the Northeast Kingdom. 10-15% discount when booked. This spacious house is overlooking Lake Willoughby with breath taking views. The house is on a dead end road. My place is good for couples, business travelers, and families. While relaxing in the Great room enjoy the ever changing views including wildlife. So much to explore and do in the North East Kingdom.
The bathrooms have recently been remodeled and the kitchen is next. We are offering the house at a reduced rate until the kitchen is done. The three season enclosed porch does have a pull out couch for those who enjoy waking up to the sunrise. The Great room with the covered porch is most guests favorite where they spend time relaxing enjoying the breath-taking views.
Lake Willoughby, Westmore is a very special area with so much natural beauty. Hiking trails, beaches, local fairs, farmers markets, and special celebrations allow opportunities for you to enjoy the area. Burke Mountain is 30 minutes away and Jay Peak is an hour away.
  • This house is a gem . The view is spectacular. She have the best amenities . Really really pretty house . We loved it . Can’t wait to book it again

  • This place was awesome, everything was perfect! Thanks Donna :)

    Alexandre2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Donna’s beautiful home. Even with it being winter time, it was absolutely amazing. The views were unbelievable. The home was impeccable. Very clean. It was just simply a perfect stay! I especially loved the shower and tub to relax in! Plus Donna was very responsive, immediately answered my messages and was wonderful to deal with. Highly recommend checking out her beautiful home and enjoy a great stay! I will be back for fall time😍

    Jourdan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet getaway after the holidays. Donna’s place was perfect! We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace and looking out at the insanely beautiful view. The updated master bathroom has a steam shower which was a pleasant surprise. Donna was a great host and provided info about the area. We had never heard of Lake Willoughby before and were totally surprised by their resemblance to Norwegian fjords (Stunning glacial lake between two mountains). We hiked Mount Pisgah, well worth it for the view!

    Jessie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s house is at a great location!! We enjoyed the sun set from living room couch, and played games by the fireplace!! And everyone loved the standing shower in the Master bathroom!! This is perfect spot to enjoy winter and summer activities!! The house was very clean!! Luckily sky was so clean and we were able to do star gazing from out side of the house!! This was something not planned so this was surprise for us!! Since this area is kind a remote if you are coming from city then the “Willoughby Lake Store” has almost everything if you forget any basic things to take it with you.

    Harsh2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! We had a lovely girls weekend. Super comfortable and cozy. Loved the fireplace and the cozy couch, comfy beds and stunning view from the front porch. Beautiful spot. Friendly neighbor even offered us dry firewood - amazing! Kitchen update will be awesome. Donna was super responsive. Would definitely come back!

    Susan2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s home was in the perfect location and had beautiful views of lake Willoughby. Her communication was excellent and her response to questions was so fast! The accommodations were comfortable and I wish we had lore time to spend outside on the amazing porch/deck. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in the NEK!

    Jaime2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place! Everything‘s exactly as depicted & Donna was a lovely host. The lake & surrounding neighborhood is really incredible. Would easily recommend to anyone.

Our lakefront cottages are located on Lake Willoughby, in Vermont’s scenic Northeast Kingdom. We have aluminum rowing boats, tennis court, basketball and ping pong table. You can rent or bring your own canoes/kayaks, or if you have a motor boat or sailboat, we have mooring capability too. We are really close of hiking and mountain bike trails. In the fall, this is a great time to hike, enjoy the changing Foliage. After watching sunset, you can enjoy a cozy evening in front of your fireplace.
  • Great location for a family vacation with young children. Easy to relax!

  • My boyfriend and I had a very, very relaxing weekend stay at one of Renee’s beautiful cabins. Renee is very sweet, helpful, and is available if you need anything. The cabin is very clean. We loved having the fire place going the whole weekend, it set the relaxing mood we were going for. The property is absolutely stunning, the views of the lake and surrounding mountains are unexplainable. We are already looking into coming back in the summer. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Nicole2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was really cute and it was right in the lake and just perfect for the weekend.

    Gabrielle2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cleanliness and very nice woman

    Paul2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • These are wonderful housekeeping cabins that are at the water's edge of the lake. The cabin was clean and comfortable with rustic accommodations. And did I say clean??? Our cabin overlooked the lake, and there was a dock with a row boat available if we wanted it. The cabin faces west, so the sunsets are jaw dropping. We totally enjoyed the ambiance of the fire in the fireplace one evening. Renee provided the firewood and newspaper to start the fire. Renee is a fantastic host. She responded to messages within an hour, gave accurate directions, met us when we arrived, and continued to check in with us to make sure everything was perfect. She provided many suggestion as to locations we might like to visit. Oh, and did I say the cabin was clean??? Thank you Renee!

    Judy2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing time at the lake! Beautiful location, charming cottage with everything we needed, great family memories made and we can’t wait to return! My kind of camping too- warm and cozy, clan, no mosquitos!

    Taryn2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, water is easily accessible. Our little cabin was perfect for our needs; we spent the whole day out on the water and came back at dark to make some dinner and enjoy a cozy fire. We will definitely be returning in the future. Renee made everything so easy for us and was so sweet.

    Chelsea2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Renee's cabins are truly a gem! Not only are they the cleanest cabins I have ever seen but the location is beautiful! Renee is the warmest and most hospitable host you could imagine. She makes you feel extremely welcomed and almost part of the family. It was clear to me from interacting with other guests that they have the same experience and return year after year. We woke up in the morning and had coffee on the porch overlooking the lake before doing some paddle boarding/kayaking (great local rental place that delivers them right to your door- Renee also has row boats available for free). We spent our days swimming, lounging in the sun on the hammock, the Adirondack chairs or even just sprawled out in the lawn, eating dinner at our picnic table, and warming up by the fire in our cabin when it got chilly. Renee made on incredible bonfire on Friday night right in front of the water which was probably our favorite part of our entire vacation. Renee has books and games available to borrow and she even left muffins on our doorstep the last morning. The sunsets here are unreal and it feels like time passes at a completely different pace. Could not have asked for a more wonderful experience! This was our second year going here after finding it randomly on airbnb and I am confident it won't be the last!

  • Had another nice stay at Mom's house (we were there last Fall). The snow and cold prevented us from doing what we had planned but Mom's house was toasty warm. It snowed for 3 days and Ron made sure we were plowed out. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the dogs loved having a safe place to run. We hope to come back in the Spring or Summer when more hiking trails are accessible.

    Jen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best Air BNB locaction I have stayed in. My father & I came up to snowmobile and this beautiful homestead is a snowmobilers paridise. The house was cute, with amazing views...you can't beat it. Farmer Ron was so generous and kind with some truck problems. He was super quick to help and make sure we were all set to go! I will be back before the snow melts for another trip!

    Kalie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nestled at the top of a dead end road. Very quiet and breathtaking views. Sentinal Rock state park is a stones throw away. We would reccomend to anyone looking to explore Vermont's Northeat Kingdom.

  • Moms House When you go that far into the country, and up a dead end road you somehow disconnect, and a relaxed pace falls over you. So nice to slow down and soak in the Panoramic views of the mountains. Moms House is just like being at my grandmothers house, with every homey touch you could dream of! Super clean, smells good, comfy bed, full kitchen for meals. Debbie is very quick with responses and very reliable to set everything up perfectly for your stay at Mom’s House❤️

    Colby2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Susan’s space is a lovely old cottage full of lovely furniture and furnishings just across from the lake. The lake is beautiful. When we were there the 5a was closed but a helpful man sent us over the mountain and the road was fine although I wouldn’t want to do that drive in winter, so check with Susan that it’s reopened before you head over. The lake area has a general store which serves food until 6 and any restaurants are a drive away otherwise. The room was light and clean and we watched the sunset over the lake with our pizza from the store. This area was beautiful even though we missed the fall foliage and was worth the trip and we would recommend Susan’s place as your stop over.

    Noel2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The view outside the window made my day. it overlooks the yard and the lake and the fall colors were perfect. I loved every bit of the room. Hope to visit again.

  • Staying at Marysue's place is a unique and rewarding experience. The lake and hiking trails are nearby and the house is lovely, interesting, comfortable and practical. It's a very special place.

    Christine2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marysue was a great host! The cottage was wonderful with everything we needed in a great location! Sunsets were magnificent just 1.5miles up the road at Sentinel Rock. Thanks!

    Becca2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful girls’ weekend retreat at Marysu’s cottage. We enjoyed ice cream from the local store, walks along the water and the beach as well as a hike on Mount Pisgah. But, even more so, we enjoyed drinking coffee on the porch, curling up in chairs with the many books throughout the house, and exploring all the little knick knacks that make this home so unique. The price and value cannot be beat!

    Emma2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This has it all! A welcoming host, excellent home with everything you could need and terrific location. Marysue was a pleasure to meet and rent from, the house is warm and very comfortable and it’s a very short walk to Lake Willoughby.

    Mathew2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy cottage a block away from Lake Willoughby, an easy walk to the "center" of Westmore. Just up the hill is the amazing Sentinel Rock State Park. Worth the 5 minute drive for the history and the view. The cottage is filled with art, old home vibes, nooks and crannies, and comfortable places to relax. This is not a fancy place, but a place well loved and full of life. We felt completely at home. Generously simple breakfast things were provided. Lots of towels. Plenty of dishes/glasses, etc.. No AC, but lots of good fresh air ventilation, and the sound of a burbling brook right up against the house. There are a few decent places to get lunch and dinner within 5 minutes. Drive a little longer for more options.

  • True country living!!

    Ryan2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very cozy and wonderful to stay in. We walked down to the lake in the evenings for sunset walks and drove up to find a beautiful view on the top of the road at a small state park up there. Location was amazing and the space is well loved by Marysue.

Birdhous in the heart of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Right off of Route 16 and less than a mile from interstate 91 for easy access to area attractions or rest along your route. This season, we're offering our guests room by room rentals, hoping to connect more with our guests and to bring better energy into our hous than has been offered when renting the whole place as a private space.
This home functions as a residential agricultural incubator in the warm months and is available as a cozy nest for travelers during the cold ones. Our hous is a budget, no-frills, basic amenities kind of place, but we'll be happy to rise to the occasion if you let us know what you need! The toilet is separate from the bath to allow for long uninterrupted periods in the tub.
  • Very cool shared farmhouse. We were in the ground floor queen room and it was perfect for our budget and needs!

Enjoy a quiet stay in the Vermont countryside. We live off a dirt road in a small town with plenty of land to explore. We are on 23 acres of forest and field and guests are free to roam about as they like. We have two indoor Australian Cattle dogs who are both friendly and harmless, but if you are not much of a dog person this might not be the right fit for you! Most of our time is spent outdoors or working, so the house is typically fairly quiet, and we are looking forward to sharing our home!
Although we live in a quiet town, driving 15-20 minutes in most directions will get you to different towns with stores, restaurants, lakes, parks, and places to explore such as; Newport, Derby, Barton, Orleans, Lake Willoughby. We are also about 25 minutes from the Canadian border, and 20 minutes to I-91.
  • It was a bit of a trek after a foot of snow but honestly not bad at all and we have 4wd but didn’t need it. Seriously transported! We had a fabulous stay. We had a long drive and just needed a quiet evening. It was snowing and beautiful! The dogs are very cute. They listen to their owners well. The room is like a small apartment. Very comfy bed and couch. Cute desk. And great view of tree line. I recommend a snowy stay! Bathroom is down stairs which could be a problem for some but not for us!

  • Elizabeth was an incredible host. She is truly pet friendly and the place is super cute! Did you know their walls are made of straw?! Strawbale construction?? Super cool! The house was well insulated from the freezing winter weather and the woodburning stove kept us nice and cozy throughout our stay. We bonded over The Office on Netflix and she even let our doggo out while we went skiing. Oh and her doggos, May and Shep, were super sweet and loving. Will definitely be back!

After a long day of hiking one of the areas many mountains, skiing Burke mountain, biking on Kingdom Trails, biking on our scenic roads, snowmobiling (trail access within 1/2 mile), boating, or fishing etc etc, you can massage your muscles in the spacious hot tub for 4. 🤗.
Our 17+ acre property is 135 miles from Montreal, 194 miles from Boston and 341 miles from NYC. We are within 10 miles of Kingdom Trails, Burke Mountain and Willoughby Lake. We are located right on Route 5 in a secluded valley that provides amazing views. The NEK also has some great places to eat! 🍴🍷

  • If you want to be immersed in rural Vermont and get the detachment from your hectic life then Colleen and Jon's spot is the place for you. With very personal touches and quick responses to any inquiry you have expect to feel spoiled Sutton. We were hoping to rent some snowshoes to trek around the property, and our hosts provided their own - you're dealing with some genuine people to say the least. Can't give this listing a better rating, and we certainly hope to return in the future!

Mere steps from the rushing Passumpsic River and with clear views of Burke Mountain Ski Resort, enjoy the quiet and cozy guest suite of this sun soaked Chalet home. Located a few miles north of the Village of East Burke off Vermont Route 114, this location offers quick and easy access to Burke Mountain, Kingdom Trials and the VAST trail system. Set on 13 quiet and private acres bordered by the river, it is great for enjoying a waterside campfire, hiking the woods or having a summer swim.
This suite consists of a combination living room, kitchenette, dinette. Also a bathroom and bedroom which sleeps 5 containing a queen bed and a bunk bed with a queen bottom bunk and twin top bunk. Two internet connected TVs are available in the space, one in the bedroom and one in the living room.
  • Sevren's place is a oasis for weary travellers.

  • I was one of the first guests to stay at this new place in Burke. I found it to be a really great value. It is just a few minutes north of Burke Mtn, East Burke, and Kingdom Trails. It has wonderful views of Burke Mtn. The space is, well, very spacious, occupying the entire basement area of the house, with a big living room, big bedroom, and big bathroom area. Groups with lots of ski, climbing, or other gear will really appreciate the space for sorting, drying, and organizing gear. The bedroom has a large bed (queen?) and a bunk bed. There is a Roku TV screen in there (no TV in the living room, but TV isn't why you go to the Northeast Kingdom). The kitchen area, which is essentially part of the large living room area, is a bit limited, so keep your meal prep simple. The hosts are quite friendly and communicative, while allowing you your privacy. All in all, this new offering in Burke is an excellent value and a fantastic value--I highly recommend booking it for your Northeast Kingdom adventures.

Magical timber frame cabin on private 75 acres nestled in the mountains ~ cross between a hobbit & tree house. Five minute drive down to pristine Lake Willoughby, 25 mins to world class mountain biking (kingdom trails), and 30 or 50 minute drive to ski resorts *Burke* and *Jay Peak*, respectively. Perfect for couples, friends & families who want to enjoy all Vermont's glorious Northeast Kingdom has to offer (ski, fish, hike, bike, swim, beer-cation, etc) while still getting away from it all.
3 THINGS PEOPLE LOVE about our HOME: 1 - The cabin is truly unique. A custom built timber frame, it feels a bit like a cross between a tree house and a hobbit house. Milled from trees on the property, guests have commented that the house “is out of a fairytale” and feels “like it grew out of the earth.” From the gracefully curved wood beams throughout, to the natural stone inside and out, to the sod (grass) roof, to the private 75 acres that are yours to roam, it is a truly special place - an ultra private and peaceful retreat. The two-story stone fireplace is awesome and the open floor plan allows you to enjoy each other's company with plenty of room to hang out and make memories. 2 - The area is simply amazing. Listed in NYTimes best seller "1000 Places to See Before You Die", the Northeast Kingdom (NEK) is spectacular. You will find some of the most beautiful spots in the NEK are minutes away from our property. There is something for everyone, for every season: hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, beach, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling (VAST), craft beer hunting, and foliage viewing. And one glimpse of the night sky (away from those city lights) will *literally* take your breath away (it is a MUST SEE! Trust me: Do not leave without taking in the night sky on a clear night). 3 - Our private woods are beautiful. Many guests have commented on how peaceful the location is and have enjoyed exploring and hiking the property itself (see reviews). Discover local wildlife in the beaver pond in your backyard or walking the property. Sightings include: moose, black bears, fox, among others. A walk in the winter will always reveal fresh tracks in the snow. We also have a fire pit, a BBQ, picnic table, hammock, and plenty of space to run around - all of which makes for a great spot to spend time outdoors with family and friends. 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting: 1 - Our home is in the woods and it is off the beaten path. You will be happiest here if you are looking for a secluded and remote experience connected to nature. Frankly, we are in the sticks and that's how we like it:-) If the prospect of encountering wildlife (big or small- mosquitos to moose) is alarming, it may not be the place for you. Although the house is located near many desirable NEK activities, don't expect to find a Starbucks on our street corner. Big box stores are about 25 mins away in Derby (north) or Lyndonville (south), and there are plenty of other towns within 30 mins to explore. That said, there is the local country store at 10 mins (open year round) that has a great craft beer and wine selection, sandwiches, gas, and everything else your could possibly need- including friendly conversation. Come summer, they have an ice-cream window with just about the best ice-cream you have ever had. There is also a nice restaurant at the Willoughvale inn (also at ~10 mins). *Note*: Local places close at ~9pm; the perfect time to head home for a cozy night in. 2 - During mud season (spring thaw) and winter you will be happiest with a 4 wheel drive/an SUV . The driveway to the house is a half mile up a *dirt road*. We take care to keep the road plowed and clear, but remember ...this IS snow country! And there is only so much we can do to control mud. Also, if you can arrive during daylight hours, it will make your first encounter driving to the house more relaxed. 3. There is no cell service at the house. So if you want to be disconnected, you have a good excuse! We do have reliable high speed internet and you can connect your phone wirelessly; there is also a phone/land line for your use.
This stunning property is surrounded by glorious mountain views, no shortage of wildlife and plenty of space to roam. The breathtaking scenery surrounding the area is constantly changing with the seasons. Swim, fish, bike, hike, ski- it is all at you fingertips from this ultra private retreat. It's the perfect spot to enjoy many outdoor activities all year round!
  • My goodness, this space is beyond sublime. A true getaway, so quiet and peaceful and the light within the space is gorgeous. If it's possible, it's even more stunning in person than in the photos. Thank you Michelle for such a needed and appreciated escape!

    Kara2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing!! It is as beautiful, rustic and cozy as it appears in the pictures. Heated floors, fireplace fully stocked with firewood, very clean and well-maintained. Michelle is an extremely responsive and detailed hostess. One warning: if you go in winter DEFINITELY bring a 4WD or AWD vehicle. We went with 2 cars: a mini-cooper and a subaru impreza, and only the impreza made it to the house. Bonus: we skiied down the driveway. Thanks Michelle. We will be back in the fall :)

    Evan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place off the beaten path and we found it! The cabin is so unique with all the comforts of home and the best fireplace we’ve ever seen! Our daughter LOVED the loft. We loved the spacious living area! Our dog loved the freedom to run around outside uninhibited. Michelle was incredibly responsive and accommodating. We all look forward to visiting again!

  • We enjoyed three nights at this wonderful cabin. Upon arrival, our initial reaction was that the pictures do not do it justice!! Great location that is very remote and peaceful. The cabin was everything we expected and more.

    John2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house to get away from it all. We came here in the middle of winter. The house is toasty warm with underfloor heating and an amazing log fire. You'll need a proper 4wd to get to get up the snowy road in winter. The house is dog friendly too which is nice and our dogs had a great time running around outside. Michelle was a great host, friendly and easy to get hold of. The house has wifi but no phone reception. There are nice walks to do a short distance away.

Magnificent views of the mountains surrounding Lake Willoughby provide a stunning backdrop to this lakeside camp in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Built in the 1960s, the mid-century modern waterfront camp has a main camp, bunkhouse, and master bedroom connected by a deck. There is a private area with dock for swimming and kayaking.
    - The camp (cottages are called camps in this part of Vermont) is located near the end of a winding, private, dead-end road. - There are two kayaks available. Life jackets are provided. - The camp and dock are only accessible by stairs. - A brief booklet called Camp Guidelines providing a detailed description of the camp and its environs will be supplied.
Lake Willoughby is a spring-fed lake. Five miles long and a mile wide, it is surrounded by mountains, many with well-maintained hiking trails. The two most prominent are Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Hor at the south end that rise over 1,000 feet above the lake and feature dramatic cliffs. There are public beaches at the north and south ends of the lake that can be reached by car. The lake is stocked with trout and salmon that thrive in the deep waters.
  • Amazing cottage! Amazing view on the lake!

  • The view from the deck is amazing. The camp is great, the kayaks/canoe are a really nice addition. This house, and this area of Vermont in general, are hidden gems.

  • This is the place to be to enjoy the great outdoor Vermont has to offer! The lake Willoughby is just wonderful and so clear. We’ve used the kayaks and canoe almost every day. The nice beach is about 20-30 minutes by boat. The camp is perfectly located close to Kingdom Trails, Hill Farmstead / Next Trick Breweries and the famous Parker Pie. We appreciated our experience. Don’t hesitate to book this place! You’ll love it.

Our guest house is close to many local activities and attractions, including Kingdom Trails mountain biking, V.A.S.T. trail snowmobiling, Burke Mountain Resort and beautiful Lake Willoughby. A detached studio with a full kitchen including a refrigerator, range with oven, toaster, coffee pot, silverware, glassware, and cookware. The bathroom has an upright shower, and full linens and towels are provided. We invite you to come stay with us and spend time seeing what Northern Vermont has to offer.
Our studio style guesthouse is perfect for couples or small families looking to get away for a vacation in a beautiful area hidden away in Northeast Vermont. Off the beaten path and named for our location on an elevation above the larger towns to the south, you'll find some of the best outdoor recreation in the country. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, and a glacial lake only a few minutes away from where you'll be staying. You will have the entire place to yourself, with dedicated parking and a private driveway. We keep the house clean and offer free WiFi and satellite TV.

  • This is a great little cabin. It does get tight with two people and sports gear (ice climbing), but a nice kitchen space, which is useful since there’s not much dining in the area. A great place for enjoying Lake Willoughby.

The Kent family cottage is located on the shore of Lake Willoughby which is touted to be the finest lake in Vermont. We have a new Honda 5 HP motorboat and a 17-foot O-Day sailboat. The 750-foot private beach may be the finest in New England for an inland body of water. The cottage has been totally renovated to maintain the ambiance of the early 20th century. The cottage is private and secluded as is the beach. Both command beautiful views. The cottage faces the sunset and the beach the sunrise.
Our cottage has been in the family since 1906 and has undergone 30 years of renovation from roof to electric to painting (each year) and restoration of original furniture. Guests are enthralled with the ambiance of the early 20th century, and we have received many fine reviews, mostly listed on homeaway.com with 5-star ratings. We have many returnees which generally start the season half reserved.
The Town of Westmore is very modest with a Community House, Town Clerk's Office, Church and the Westmore store with ample supplies, gas pumps, boat gasoline and an ice cream bar. Two mountains border the lake and the shoreline of Mt. Hoar probably has not changed in the last 5000 years. Mt Pisgah on the east side of the pale is popular for mountain hiking and offers grand views from the summit.

Enjoy nearby hiking, mountain biking, and golfing at some of the most beautiful courses in the northeast. The cottage offers lakeside privacy with a large yard bordered by privacy hedges. Easy access to water.
Cozy 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and new sleeper sofa (2018) in living room - sleeps 6 (maximum capacity). 1st bedroom has queen bed and 2nd bedroom has two twin beds. Sleeper sofa in living room will sleep two. Two kayaks are available for use.
  • Our stay at Lake Willoughby was amazing, the accommodations were as listed, the views AMAZING and peaceful! The ability to use the kayaks and have a nice little yard to have quiet mornings and nights by the fire was perfect! We would definitely return for another get away! I forgot a bag and Molly was super helpful and responsive and it was shipped the next day! Great hosts and communication! Our entire family as well as the two dogs enjoyed our stay!

Tranquil, private setting on beautiful Lake Memphremagog. This cozy room is very quiet. House is adjacent to the bike path and has lake access. Surrounded by woods, perfect place to enjoy the outdoors or get your muse on.
  • I had a wonderful stay at Lynn's. Her place is cozy, well-appointed, very clean, and well-located. She is quick to respond and very thoughtful. She offered to provide me with almond milk to go with the granola at breakfast as I did not want yogurt. I would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended.

  • Lynn’s place was beautiful, clean and very cute. It was so lovely being right next to the lake for sunsets and swimming. Lynn was very hospitable, offering local tips and a delicious breakfast each morning. Would stay again!

The treehouse is at the very edge of Walker Pond. You are welcome to enjoy our 40 acres of forest/wetland, go canoeing in our canoe, soak in the custom made cedar hot tub, or just enjoy having a private holiday. The treehouse is located just 5 minutes from downtown Newport and is 22 minutes to Jay Peak Ski Resort.
Walker Pond treehouse is partially supported by two White Pines that are along the shoreline of Walker Pond. The treehouse has a main level, consisting of a kitchen area, sitting space, and a bathroom. Climb the winding tree staircase to the bedroom into the bedroom, which has a cathedral ceiling exposed with hand hewn cedar rafters. This room has a queen size bed (memory foam mattress), wall mounted LCD TV, reading bench, and a tiny closet. There is plenty of glass and windows, so you get the best views of the pond and field. Sunny/breezy afternoons bring the sparkle of the pond into the treehouse. It really is beautiful! Unique in design, this rustic treehouse will be fully functioning with all the essentials provided to make your stay comfortable. Also included, there will be a private deck overlooking the pond, a rustic hot tub, mini kitchen, grill, TV, etc. You will have access to the land and pond, so we invite you to go on a nature walk or go canoeing. You never know what kinds of animals you might see! So far we have seen moose, deer, bear, turkey, geese, ducks, heron, owls, otter, huge turtles, fish, and frogs.... just to name a few. Get your camera ready! While we border 20 acres of farmland, you may often see cows grazing. They are very peaceful and may greet you if they see that you are offering them grass.
Newport is a beautiful town that is growing and it is the gateway between New England and Canada. The city lies on the southern shore of Lake Memphremagog. On the western side of the 30-mile lake rises Owl’s Head. Its 3,360 foot summit offers impressive views. There is plenty to do and see while visiting. From bicycling, fishing, hunting, paddling, sailing, boating, horseback riding to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Newport, Vermont is a mecca of outdoor recreation year round. Newport also has fine great restaurants on the water and artisan local foods for all you foodies out there. Jay Peak Mountain and Resort is only 17 miles away. You can visit any time of the year. Of course, they have skiing and riding, but all year round they have an indoor water park, ice arena, spa, restaurants, and shopping.
  • Such a great getaway. It was a birthday trip for my husband and he really enjoyed hot tub, which was amazing.

  • This was such an amazing get a away. We were blown away by the Treehouse. Everything was clean and neat. The scenery was amazing, being surrounded by nature and watching the snow fall while drinking your morning coffee was sublime. All the personal touches really made it so cozy and unique, all they're hard work and craftmanship were noticeable. From the hot tub to the waffles, everything was great. Andrew was very helpful and answered all our questions about the treehouse and whats around town with no problem. If you're looking for the perfect nature get away, you've found it! The trip is worth it.

    Stephanie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute place to get away for the weekend! Andrew & Marilou were very responsive and kind upon check in. We looking forward to coming back in the summer!

  • The most stunning air bnb we have ever stayed in! Worth every dollar.

    Justine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying here and we love it. Such a gorgeous and unique place and so private and quiet. Totally worth the wait (as they book out-it’s a popular place 😊) 🌳🏠

  • Andrew met us when we arrived late from Buffalo. He showed us around and told us a little bit about the place before he left. The tree house was absolutely beautiful. Pushed far off the road where you can’t hear any cars or trucks. The snow made the hot tub so enjoyable. Fireplace was a great touch. We played board games that were up in the bedroom and went to some of the local restaurants that Andrew recommended for dinner. I know this place is booked out a full year in advance but I’d do it all over again and plan to. BOOK THIS PLACE NOW

    Kyle2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A+ experience - the pictures don’t do it justice! Great weekend away from Boston. In you are on the fence, just book it!

    Madison2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • By some miracle we were able to reserve the treehouse for our anniversary on relatively short notice. The pictures and description do it absolutely no justice. The treehouse was phenomenally beautiful in every single way, down to every thoughtful, handcrafted detail that Andrew created with his own two hands. Andrew welcomed us upon our arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The living space was comfortable and cozy with its lovely views, cozy gas fireplace, and many lovely details of the treehouse to admire from the comfort of the couch. The bed in the beautiful, airy loft space was beyond comfortable, and it was tons of fun to curl up at night and watch our favorite Netflix show on the flatscreen tv. The kitchen was clean and pretty, with the ingredients for homemade waffles being a very welcome and special touch. Even the details of the bathroom added to the amazing experience, such as the sink base made from a log and the rain head shower. Though I could go on and on, I must save the best for last and say that I’ve never had an experience like enjoying a hot tub in a treehouse! The hot tub itself is a work of art and was so incredibly comfortable, the perfect temperature, and all the more fun for feeling like you’re up in the trees. Though the walk to and from the hot tub was rather exciting in the below 0 temps (hahaha), we spent a very considerable amount of time out there and were perfectly warm and cozy admiring the snow and the woods while we soaked. Thank you Andrew and Marilou for a memorable visit, and we can’t wait to come back!!

The Northeast Kingdom is famed for its 4-season natural beauty. The house sits right on the Clyde River, with many coves to explore in one of our canoes or kayaks. Hiking trails abound in the area, as do lakes for all kinds of water fun. Northwoods Stewardship Center (founded by Bill and Pat) boasts winter cross country ski and snowshoe trails, groomed and accessible from the River House itself, as well as wonderful summer camps for your children. Jay Peak Ski resort and Water Park is 45 minutes away. Spring and summertime canoeing and kayaking, biking, etc. are a glorious way to spend a vacation - all right out your front door. And no one needs to spend much time highlighting the absolutely glorious fall foliage 'leaf peeper' tourist pastime that hits 'The Kingdom' each September and October. Vermont has the best foliage season in the country and your personal stove and wood supply make fall evenings cozy. There is so much more to discover in the quaint, historic, and naturally beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
  • Beautiful space, attentive host, clean and cozy! It was nice being off the grid for a couple days. Would love to see it in other seasons.

  • Once again, the River House was the place where we could go to "get away from it all," rest, reconnect with each other, and recharge. This was our third visit - we love the quiet, the forced "disconnect" (we LOVE that there's no wifi or cell reception!), watching the river, walks up the drive. This was our first winter visit, and it was magical. We read books and watched movies, sat in front of the wood fire, and focused on time together. Thanks so much for this wonderful retreat!

    Katie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The river house is off the beaten path a bit, but it’s peaceful, quiet and cozy! Pat was a wonderful host and stopped by to make sure we had what we needed. The house is clean and roomy and has pretty much everything you’d need.

Janelle and Kyle were great hosts; they were extremely friendly and inviting and offered us great local tips as well. We even had a few off-chance connections we noticed through talking. The place itself was cleaned and convenient. The bed was also really comfortable which was appreciated after a lot of biking. Absolutely would stay here again. Highly recommend!

Sleep peacefully to the sound of the running brook. My home is located on a private lane across from majestic Lake Willoughby with a cozy room for you with two comfy single beds. Perfect for 1 guest or two. Close to local hiking, bike trails, and beaches at both north and south ends of the lake. Country store with Pizza & Deli within walking distance. Local pub & restaurants nearby. Boat access across road. Come and visit --Your room is always ready!
Come on in and make yourself at home. Your room is upstairs on the left, with 2 single beds, a bureau and a rack with hangers for clothing. The room has a woodsy view with sounds of the brook to lull you into a restful sleep. Bathroom has clawfoot tub/shower. If we have other guests, the bath is shared.
The house is located in a small village of Westmore. My place is situated directly across the road from the lake and I dont have any immediate access to the lake, except where I keep the kayak, up the road a piece, but it is not the best place for swimming. There is a great little country store within walking distance which has a deli, pizza and baked goods. There are several restaurants for a short drive and one directly up the road which is open mostly during the summer.
  • This is my second time staying with Susan. Great place!

    Anastasia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a winter getaway. Susan is a wonderful host and we loved her home - it has character and ambiance and really good vibes. She stayed up late to greet us and was friendly, open and super helpful. The wifi in the house is great. The lake is a short 5 minute walk down the driveway and it was very cool watching the ice fishers. Willoughby Lake state park (10 minute drive) has free groomed (ish) cross country ski trails and a very good hike to the top of Mt Pisgah.

Birdhous in the heart of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Right off of Route 16 and less than a mile from interstate 91 for easy access to area attractions or rest along your route. This season, we're offering our guests room by room rentals, hoping to connect more with and to bring better energy into our hous than has been offered when renting the whole place as a private space. To note: we offer all of our bedrooms this way and you are likely to be sharing spaces with other budget Airbnb guests.
  • This is a perfect place to stay if you just need a place to sleep without expecting too much. The beds are comfortable, there’s plenty of towels in the bathroom and you’re close to the highway. The stairs and doors are a bit creaky but you are in an old farmhouse. I would easily stay here again. Tip: Go to The Parker Pie Company (7 mins away) for great beer and pizza!

    Austin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the farmhous was good. It is very farmy. The cats are extremely friendly and will try to be your friend instantly! Jes is helpful and responsive. The room is spacious, minimalist, and clean, adequate for a night to rest before hitting the road, and the living/dining room space is comfortable as well. If you are looking for privacy, this place is less ideal, as you can hear what is going on in the other rooms and in the bathroom, and the staircase leading to the room (there are 2 on 2nd floor) is creaky. All in all, good place for good value.

    Meilani2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, a true farmhouse. Well worth for the price

    Emily2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Clean. Helpful, functional touches with hooks, mirrors, table surfaces, and power extension cord in bedroom. Great communication. No frills, cost-friendly, exactly what I was looking for.

  • Good value

    Dominic2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place comes at an unbelievable value! The pictures are a very accurate depiction of the space, it was what I had expected and more! The living area is very nice, very comfy living room. The kitchen is perfect for a short term stay. The room was comfortable, and the beds were clean and there were plenty of covers to keep warm. The house is well heated and the wifi has great speed. Jess provides a nice library in the living room and a very comfortable couch. The bathroom is a little small, but at such a great price, you can’t ask for anything more! Everything that Jess provides for at this price is simply incredible! This is the best deal I’ve ever found on Airbnb! I would definitely recommend!

Enjoy the views of the Canadian mountains from the front porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine; or wander around the pasture or woods behind the cabin. Close to both Jay Peak and downtown Newport, you can enjoy all those locations have to offer, or simply relax. Please note that the stairs to the 2nd floor are steeper than usual.
  • Beautiful cabin with all the necessary amenities. Super clean, very comfortable. Met all our expectations.

  • Loved staying at Johns Cabin for our 3rd time. We always look here first, and we book it as soon as its available. Great cabin, close drive to Jay Peak, and just amazing setting and cozy cabin features. John is also a great host to work with, very easy to reach out to and very easy process to check in/out. Hopefully we get to come back next year. Angelo

  • Perfect cabin for a snowy getaway

  • John's Cabin is one of the greatest we have been in Vermont. Everything was clearly communicated from John prior our arrival and the stay was relaxing and comfortable. The remote location , the view and the fireplaces make this place great and warm . Installation are clean and bed are very comfortable. We will get back there for sure.

    Very quiet dead end road.
  • The house is a hidden gem! The basement is warm and lovely and comfortably fits 4 people. There is a door that takes you directly outside from the downstairs and you can stand under and overhang to take in the beautiful backyard and view. The upstairs was comfy and homey and the house came stocked with shampoo and conditioner as well as the kitchen had a lot of spices and condiments for our use. The house was warm and clean when we arrived. It’s a great place and the price is amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

Nestled in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont on a maple lined country road at the base of Burke Mountain and 2.5 miles from the town of East Burke you will relax and refresh in the calm and comfort of a private wing of a beautiful circa 1835 brick farm house. Enjoy the views of Burke Mountain, our picturesque farm pond, and walks through our maple sugar woods. We are minutes from Burke Mountain, around the corner from the Kingdom Trails, VAST trails and hiking trails.
The House was first house built in the Town of Burke in 1795. Originally a 300 acre farm, it was owed by the Walter Family and its descendants until 1992. The bricks form the main part of the house and were transported to Burke via ox cart in the early 1800's. You will be transported back in time staying in an authentic New England farm house. You will enter through your own private entrance. The Main floor is comprised of a large, spacious and comfortable living room with small dining table. There is a small fridge, cooktop, microwave, toaster and keurig for your dining convenience inside; and a barbecue outside for your use. The downstairs bath is the first bathroom built in the town of Burke and has a beautiful, authentic claw foot porcelain bath tub. The second floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with stall shower. All the stenciling is original and the pine flooring was logged off of this land. You will have access to a shed to store your bikes and a hose to wash it off. Go for a relaxing swim in a nearby pond or river. Come and relax in a piece of history, step back in time and rejuvenate.
Nestled in the farmland of the Northeast Kingdom and looking out upon Burke Mountain. The rolling hills and maple sugar woods of Burke make this setting unique and memorable. The farm has been both a Morgan horse farm and Jersey cow farm for the past 221 years. Most of the people who live in the area were born and raised here and have stayed to raise their families in this special and unique part of the world. You will be treated to rolling hills, scenic vistas, open panoramas, and charming sugar woods and a myriad of animals both domestic and wild.
  • This is an outstanding place to stay: clean, comfortable, cozy. Heather provides great hospitality, including delicious “goodies”. It’s in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Hope to return again!

    Dulany2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at Heather's place several times since 2017 - it's the first place I try to book when I go to the Kingdom Trails. Quiet, relaxing, and comfortable are just a few of the many reasons to stay here. This place (and Heather's hospitality) never disappoints.

    Sean2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A true home away from home!

    Greg2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were there to snowmobile, easy access to trial head. You do have to ride the road to a field, less then a eighth of a mile. We had snow on the side of the road to ride. Heather and her place - perfect. We would stay there again.

    Colette2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful location, in a well maintained and clean home, cared for by considerate owners.

    Kay2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Heather’s beautiful old farmhouse is a magical place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom with a stunning view of Burke Mountain in the front yard. The village and the mountain are just a few miles away.

    Sean2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our family truly enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The kids enjoyed seeing the barn animals and sledding in the yard. Would be a great visit any season!

Wood Stove, 2 bunk beds (4 twins), storage loft, room for sleeping bag. 6' x 10' Deck, with surround benches. No running water, there is no bathroom (woods please) Roughin' it, but hey, it's a cabin, with simple amenities, close to nature. Showers in town, 1.5 miles away, behind the Tiki Bar, across from Sports Shop. Adventure Awaits.

  • We had booked this cabin for a weekend getaway, and that was exactly what we got.. Jake was very quick in responding and went out of way to help us. Gave us some good suggestions for restaurants around. Tim's brother in law was around, so helped us find the cabin. Would love to book it again sometime.

    Dhwani2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place!

    Jonathan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tim’s place was exactly what we expected. It’s location is a great place to get rolling in the morning right at the base of Skydive/Farm Junk / White School. The cabin is dry and cozy and there’s a nice grassy area to hang outside. Propane stove works well. This is a Great alternative to a camp ground. You’re vehicle will need some ground clearance especially loaded up with bikes and gear but we had no issues with large SUVs and a truck. Communication with Tim was real good too.

    Jay2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place is exactly what I was looking for--a no frills cabin close to the trails. If you want to drive all the way to the cabin, you'll definitely need four wheel drive and good clearance, but it's not a bad walk otherwise. The location is right in the trails and feels like you're in the middle of the woods, even though you're super close to East Burke

    Julia2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is an excellent home-base when mountain biking or hiking in the NE Kingdom. It is as pictured and a fun place to stay for those who want to get away and don't mind roughing it a bit. The cabin was well stocked with toilet paper and other necessities but you'll need to carry in your own water. Your car is a 10 minute walk away and there, you can access a hose to fill water bottles. Overall, Tim's cabin is an amazing place to go unplug.

Come and enjoy the great outdoors! Stay in the round - Yurt - and enjoy the outdoors. The yurt can comfortably accommodate 2 people with beds. The yurt is 12' in diameter and comfortably sleeps 2 adults and a few animals! However there is plenty of space for tenting or a pop up if your party is larger! Can see Burke Mountain from the top. - Close to great hiking (Burke Mountain, Lake Willoughby State Park and More) -No electricity on sight
Woodland get away. You will drive past houses but will likely never see another soul! This place is yours. Enjoy the relaxing idea of your own wooded paradise.
  • Kelsey's yurt was the perfect spot for my brother and I to meet up for some quality time off the grid together with my pup. The location is perfect if you're planning to ride Kingdom Trails—a stone's throw away, yet tucked quietly in the woods. Close to so many other offerings in the NEK too. We picked up some charcoal to cook over the grill, and cozied up by a fire... ate blackberries on the walk up the hill for a view of the fall colors in the mountains... wish we didn't have to leave, and psyched to return!

    Maggie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Kelsey’s yurt! The location is fantastic and it had everything we needed for glamping. Kelsey’s communication was timely and overall everything was fantastic start to finish! I would definitely stay here again!

    Jenai2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Very cozy and secluded, had an amazing time by fire before the storm hit!

    Shirley2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was great! Simple and private with good amenities for camping. Stars were amazing!

    Matt2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kelsey's little slice of heaven is the perfect glamping spot in the NEK. Secluded, peaceful, and just minutes away from Burke. We will definitely be staying here again for our next Kingdom trip!

    Ian2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect situation for those who like to camp and bike. All the best parts of camping - a fire, beautiful star-lit sky, fresh air and freedom - with added benefits of a bed, shower, and running water! We loved the yurt and location so much we wished we hadn’t booked a hotel for the following night, we would have MUCH rather stayed another night at the yurt! We were pleasantly surprised that the outdoor shower had HOT water and the location was super private. The yurt is ideally located if you have plans to bike at Kingdom Trails (which you should). We are already planning our trip back next year! Loved it.

    Miranda2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t end up staying but her communication was quick and detailed.

    Casey2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot! The yurt is super cute and the outdoor shower is heaven after a day biking. Very close to Kingdom Trails.
