Places to stay in Westminster
This room is one half of a floor in our studio building (35 sq m). It is the only occupied space in the building, which is separated from the main house by a yard. There is a queen-sized bed, full bath (no-curb shower), and an outdoor shower (not available in the winter) Small kitchen: sink, fridge, 2-burner hot plate, toaster, coffee pot. Arched ceiling, with ceiling fan, large windows, deck, and Maggie's botanical art lining the walls.
From the studio you can look out across our fields, gardens, and woods. We're on a wetland, and we often see aquatic and other birds, deer, fox, and once in a great while a black bear. The room is very airy and light, warm in winter, and cool in summer. The building is 5 years old.
There are miles of country roads and woods trails right out the door. A short walk out the back takes you to the Vermont Shepherd cheese farm, where you can watch the sheep, and buy their cheese. There are many hiking trails a few miles away (Putney Mt., Pinnacle Mt.), as well as miles of groomed x-country ski trails at the Brattleboro Outing Club. Bicycles and skis may be rented at the West Hill Bike Shop, in Putney. The Connecticut River is accessible in Putney if you have a boat. Kayaks and canoes can be rented in Brattleboro. In early Spring, there are many local sugar houses making maple syrup, that you can taste and buy. Depending on the season you have the choice of several music programs nearby (Yellow Barn, Marlboro Music Festival, Vermont Jazz Center).
  • My Girlfriend and I stayed for two nights this past weekend, between the pricing, location and quietness of this wonderful studio apartment we will certainly come again. Oliver was very welcoming and went beyond to host us in his studio place.

    Alfred2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Oliver’s place. It was very clean and welcoming. Oliver was there to great us and explain all about the place. He was very responsive and helpful. He was very generous and welcomed us with orange juice, coffee, tea, creamer and English muffins. We really had a great time and the location was great! We would definitely recommend Oliver’s place to family and friends!

    Alexa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Could not recommend more! My boyfriend and I had a great visit and loved Oliver's hospitality. The space was clean, sunshine filled, and provided the perfect getaway! We really appreciated his communication and working with us having a non-snow vehicle (when we had vehicle difficulty he immediately came out and helped us) and with check in times. Highly suggest!

    Katie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great studio in a scenic area

    David2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location and beautiful space. Oliver was a great host. I will definitely be back again.

    Ian2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Oliver’s place! We got lucky and had a bit of snow the first night which made for great snowshoeing the next day. Can’t wait to come back to see the beautiful property in the summertime. Thanks for giving us a warm clean hideaway for the weekend!

    Noah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver’s place is perfect for a little getaway. He left english muffins, orange juice, coffee, tea, and butter; this was a pleasant surprise. The refrigerator didn’t keep anything cold, but we used the snow to our advantage. There is no microwave, but we made do with the stove top that was there. Although the space is a bit smaller than depicted it was still delightful. There is a trail you could explore and if you take a nightly stroll you can see the stars perfectly. We loved the location and hope to return, thank you!

    Ashley2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver was great, gave us stuff to do around town , and the place was super clean!

  • Lauren's place was a fantastic getaway for my husband and myself. It's stylish, super clean, totally private, and very spacious for being a small cottage. There were many suggestions for nearby attractions, and the location itself is serene. I would recommend a stay whole heartedly!

    Priya2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing! Spacious, clean, stylish, with really nice personal touches. Lauren was a great host, and made sure everything was to our liking. We live in Boston and it was a great place to get away from the city, the place also felt very private. Highly recommended it.

    Eloise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s space is fantastic! It’s very clean, exceedingly well equipped and very cozy. If I make it back down to this area again I will be booking this space again!

  • Exactly as described. It was perfect for my husband and I for our anniversary trip. We enjoyed sledding, and sitting in the window seat. The view is beautiful. Lauren and her husband were friendly and had good local suggestions. We would definitely recommend. :)

Our picturesque farmhouse is just outside the artsy village of Putney, VT on an easily-accessed country paved road. Hike, bike, walk, cross-country ski, or run on the nearby trails and peaks, some of which start right from our driveway. Visit a neighboring sheep farm and sample their award-winning cheeses (Vermont Shepherd), or head into the nearby villages of Walpole, Grafton, or Chester for a stroll in town or a bite to eat at locavore favorites The Grafton Inn or Burdick's Restaurant. Spend an afternoon at Green Mountain Orchard, picking blueberries, raspberries, apples, or pumpkins (depending on the season), and finish off with a cool dip at a local swimming hole. In the evenings, relax by the fire, curl up with a good book, and unwind! Putney is world famous for its cross-country skiing scene, with lots of nearby trails accessible to guests. We are also close to downhill skiing, (Okemo, Bromley, Stratton), the Putney School, Landmark College, the Greenwood School, and The School for International Training (SIT)/ World Learning. And we're close to Keene, NH with Antioch College and Keene State College, great coffee shops and a lively Main Street, The Colonial Theater, and more. The Farmhouse Apartment is a great place to visit year-round and experience Southern Vermont in all seasons: In SPRING, stop in at a maple sugar house while they’re boiling, and enjoy a pancake breakfast before visiting local farms to see the new lambs being born. In SUMMER, wander the deep green woods on foot or by bike and then cool yourself in a clear local swimming hole. In AUTUMN, hike along streams, up to mountain view points that will blind you in leaf season with amazing Fall color, and enjoy a stop at a farmer's market. In WINTER, snowshoe or Nordic ski on nearby groomed trails and return to a cozy fire to enjoy some hot cider before heading off to the pub for dinner. Or, check out Stratton, Okemo, or Bromley Mountains for downhill fun (about 50 minutes away).
  • This place is a dream - will definitely book again! If you're in need of a getaway or a place to escape after a long week, this is it. It's peaceful, quite, and the views from the upstairs skylights at night are breathtaking. As someone who works for themselves and barely takes time away from the computer, this was the perfect place to unwind, read a book, paint and just be. We cooked, we lounged, we sat by the wood stove. We didn't want to leave!

The ultimate get away. Hand built by owners and dubbed "The Wood House" by our kids because of the 8 different types of wood used to build it. A huge deck off the front of the house and a "star gazing" veranda off loft with beautiful Fireplace too.
New Chalet style house in the mountains in southern vermont. 2 hours from Boston and 3.5 hours from NYC this house is all wood, Exotic peruvian floors, pine ceilings and expansive mohogany decks. Huge loft with king size bed and private deck overlooking the woods. Stone Fireplace that burns pellets and keeps the house toasty warm with out the hassles of bringing in wood. Close to all Southern Vermont ski areas. There are General Stores, country stores, horse farms and orchards within a short drive. Hiking trails to the Pinnacle start a few feet from this house. A great place to escape to

  • The Wood House is a fabulous get away from everything joy. The space is delightful, with open cathedral ceilings and a wonderful loft bedroom above it all. There is a pellet stove for staying warm and lots of books to read and games to play if you needed something extra to do while you are there.

    Julie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Wood house it great! Perfect for a getaway. This was my second time there and I would go back again.

    Sean2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This house is exactly what I picture when I think of Vermont. Secluded and rustic. It was perfect for a long weekend with our dog! The bed was super cozy and everything felt mostly clean. Love the lofted bedroom the house was warm and cozy (thanks to the pellet stove) for November. There were enough tools for me to cook in the kitchen, there were games. We brought our own TV and fire stick to watch movies (they had WiFi which was great!) Overall had an amazing weekend and would definitely love to stay here again! Thank you guys!

  • Great place to get away from a busy life and want to just disconnect from everything

    Jeffryn2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Colin's place was wonderful. It is a great place for a get away. It is in a great location and the cabin is very comfortable and relaxing. There are two great couches and a warm stove which are wonderful when the weather is rainy and cold. Colin provided frequent communications and responded quickly to our questions. We would definitely stay at Colin's place again.

    Robert2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at the wood house! Exactly as expected. Nice little getaway in the woods. Cozy cabin feel. Would highly recommend staying here for a break from the hustle and bustle!

    Jess2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great weekend away in the Wood House. Just far enough off the grid to rejuvenate from the city living. House was perfect! Clean, orderly and so serene. Hope to plan another trip soon.

    Brianna2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The wood house was just the relaxing weekend we needed. There’s a lot to explore in a 30-40 minute radius - trails, swimming holes, farm to table restaurants, and shops. The home looks like the pictures. The bed was comfortable and the property is private and quiet. The home is rustic, but had everything we needed. Colin and Tim were very kind, responsive, and accommodating.

Private studio with sauna set in the lush woods of southeastern VT. Walk out your door and onto the best hiking and biking trails in the area. Family friendly. All are welcome.
We are a family with two young children and a quiet, kind, kid-friendly dog inhabiting the house above the studio. The house is quiet from around 7 pm to around 7 am, and then the sounds of daily life can be expected.
Walk, hike, run, bike, or ski right from your private door. Our house backs up against vast protected forest and well-maintained, extensive trails. This is a perfect spot to immerse in nature, unwind, and enjoy the peace, quiet, and a slower pace of being. This is a wonderful place to play: for kids and pets to thrive in exploring the woods, and for adults to relax and rejuvenate. Our space is nestled atop a quiet, cool hill in the Vermont woods. Enjoy year-round nature and exploration from your door, or venture out into the many surrounding towns and destinations. Situated 2 miles from the center quaint Westminster West, we're in quintessential Vermont, and neighbored by maple sugar operations, renowned artisan cheese makers, and talented artists. In the summer enjoy the cool of our hilltop forest, and the quiet of our gardens and woods. In the fall soak in the phenomenal fall colors, and in the winter snowshoe from your door, ski on local groomed nordic trails, or head to a number of popular VT downhill or nordic ski areas. Beauty and recreation abound any time of year!
  • This place is a charm! Perfect size studio for me and my wife for a short getaway. We went skiing at Mount Snow and it was a great time. Liz is a great host and their home has nice touches. Highly recommended.

    Chris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a great weekend for us! It felt like a week-long vacation retreat honestly and that's due to Liz's thoughtfulness and amazing hospitality. The place is SPARKLING clean, very stylish and comfortable, the sauna is a huge perk, and so much amazing space for our doggy to run around and play (letting her right out the front door is huge perk). On top of greeting us when we arrived, Liz also had a great selection of tea, coffee, vegan snacks from the co-op, all the "must-haves" in the bathroom in case we forgot to pack them and more we also appreciated. You can hear a bit upstairs but truthfully that didn't bother us at all as it really was a relaxing place that left us rejuvenated. Def plan to be back!

    Nikki2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t thank Liz and her family enough for your incredible hospitality. Liz was so flexible and we appreciate it so much. Quick responses, easy going, great local tips, lovely and overly generous goodies, need we say more?

    Shelby2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Maybe one of the best Airbnb’s we have stayed at! A perfect spot for relaxing and exploring. Liz and her family go above and beyond to accommodate guests and have many thoughtful touches, including food and coffee. Will definitely come again!

    Justin & Jenny2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazingly cozy and warm feel. Truly a wonderful get away. Amenities were perfect.

    Jimmy2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Liz's forest studio was the perfect getaway. We came on a ski trip, and we were approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes away from all the hills we wanted to ski. The sauna was a lovely touch after a long day, and the place was nice and quiet. The place had lovely touches of Vermont, and nice little homemade and local treats upon arrival. We really enjoyed Liz's home and we will definitely be back! In winter months the driveway is a little difficult to get up and down if your car doesn't do well in the snow (like mine!). The drive up to the cottage is a little tricky on unpaved roads, but that is the only bad thing I have to say about the place!

    Emma2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts, great hiking. Loved this place so much!

    David2019-12-21T00:00:00Z

Magnificent garden, comfortable queen-sized bed, private deck overlooking a gently burbling waterfall and stream, delicious breakfast, serene, nourishing and beautiful surroundings. We warmly invite you to stay with us.
Sanctuary, our home, is filled with light and plants and art. There are views of nature out of all of the many large windows. The hand-painted walls give a feeling of warmth and coziness to the spacious rooms with slanting high ceilings. Our lovely guest room is off of the living room and not near other bedrooms. It has a large window onto the garden, as well as sliding glass doors that open onto your private deck overlooking our small garden pond. There is a half-bath in the guest room, and the shared full bath with a great shower and large oval bathtub is next door to your room. A small refrigerator is in the guest room for your use. You are welcome to relax in our living room. Guests particularly like to read or do yoga on the raised platform at the far end of the living room. We provide organic coffee and tea along with a wonderful breakfast for our guests. Sanctuary is situated in the forest just above the tiny village of Westminster West. The villages of Putney and Saxtons River are 7 and 5 miles away, and provide interesting restaurants, pubs, a food coop, a village market and general store, terrific live music of all kinds. The Saxtons River Fourth of July parade is legendary as the best small-town parade ever! We are ten minutes from the Putney School, the Greenwood School, Vermont Academy and Landmark College. Putney has a farmers' market on Sunday. This is the best of Vermont! Oh, and we are just 25 minutes from Brattleboro, a vibrant, eclectic, art-filled town of 13,000. The gardens at Sanctuary are really amazing. It is an oasis of flowers and veggies in the middle of a tall deciduous forest. Fairies live here, or so say our young friends who sometimes build fairy houses. Lots of frogs, toads, and birds for sure. Quiet, beautiful, restful, heartful.
Idyllic Vermont countryside and small villages. We can direct you to great nearby hiking trails: The Pinnacle, Putney Mountain and Black Mountain are all within a few minutes. There are 5 farmers' markets within 30 minutes of us. Good antiquing in nearby Chester or Bellows Falls. Many great performances as nearby as Putney (Yellow Barn, Sandglass Theatre, Next Stage) and too many to count in Brattleboro!
  • As I looked out of our window of the bedroom, the moonlight cast pale shadows of the woods onto the blanket of snow. This is a special place, and beyond the physical beauty surrounding the house, there is a serenity that is present. Caitlin and Peter, our hosts, made us feel welcome and were very caring. The breakfast was delicious and served in a sunny and charming dining room, surrounded by well cared plants. I would gladly return and recommend a stay in this charming home.

    Paul2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The happiest of accidents was coming across this beautiful home. I felt so welcomed and right at home!

    Valeria2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our too-short stay at Caitlin and Peter's lovely home! The easy and quick communication, the comfortable bed, and the beautifully decorated space are all plusses, but the real treats are Caitlin's delicious breakfast and talking with these wonderful hosts, who manage to make strangers feel like old friends. We would love to return to see Caitlin and Peter and the lovely property in another season!

    Leah2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Caitlin and Peter's Sanctuary for a retreat, and a rejuvenating retreat was just what we got. The house and grounds are so beautiful and well kept, and Caitlin is so kind and thoughtful, that we basked in soulfulness. Breakfast with Caitlin and Peter was absolutely wonderful too... delicious, nutritious, with interesting conversation.

    Teta2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for us! This was my second stay- very comfortable bed, wonderful hosts and a delicious breakfast...we would happily return again and again

    Joanne2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts! Loved the house, the hospitality and the breakfast was outstanding!

    Timothy2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Caitlin and Peter were wonderful hosts! They provided us with a great breakfast and an even better conversation. I wish we could have stayed longer, their home was quite the sanctuary.

Upstairs bedroom with queen size bed in artisan built home on ten acres. Enjoy the view over wetland, streams, gardens and wildlife just a half mile from the quaint parish village of Westminster West. Between Putney and historic Saxtons River.
The bedroom offers closets, drawers and shelves as well as a window seat overlooking the gardens and wetland. Hardwood floor, handmade tables and lamps, and personally designed mirrors accent the room.
The village of Westminster West is a return to a simpler way of living. The nearest stores are in the neighboring towns of Putney or Saxtons River. Area folks love to bicycle or walk the rolling roads that wind through the forested landscape as well as area farms. From my house, guests can walk the three mile "loop" that winds around and through the village area. Close to The Putney School, Landmark College, Greenwood School, and Vermont Academy.
  • Great architecture and unique craftsmanship is peaceful Vermont woods. A must stay.

  • Gail's house is beautiful! She built it herself and each aspect, from walls to furniture, is artistic and thoughtful. We had a cozy stay. The place was very clean and Gail was great with communication. I'd stay with her again!

    Yucheng2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first stay using Airbnb it it was very enjoyable. Gail was very accommodating and there were little, thoughtful touches in her home that made it unique. She also offered a wealth of suggestions as to where to go and what to do. I would recommend her to anybody who asked.

    Scott2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle has a very unique and beautiful space. We enjoyed the lovely warm atmosphere of her house and the tales of how it was built. A must see Air B&B! Close to many great hikes and lovely setting.

    Polly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A real artist living an intentional life. To sit and talk with Gail will give you inspiration to go and live your life to the fullest.

    Nicole2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gail’s house is unique with its charm. She made it herself over 20 years. I was completely impressed. The room was better than I expected. It was cozy and had light. One of the windows overlooked a pond and the other window overlooked her garden in the woods. The bathroom bath/shower was beautiful. I wish I had a shower like that. The water pressure was good. Gail let me use her kitchen and when I was running late she cleaned up after me. Our conversations were interesting and fun. I always love getting to know the people who run Airbnb‘s. Five stars for her kindness and hospitality.

  • Gail's home is a gorgeous, comfortable, quiet, beautiful retreat into the woods. The location is ideal and her property is breathtaking. The natural surroundings are inspiring and incredible. Gail was a perfect host and she is a fantastic human being. She showed me all around, answered all of my questions, and gave me great suggestions for local flavor. She was a delight to converse with and share stories with and I came away from the weekend all-the-better. Don't think twice about booking!

  • This place is incredible. The house is next to a pond and in the trees and is handmade by Gail. Every inch of the house is beautiful. I'm so glad I stayed there.

Lovely home of cheese makers on a quiet country road perfect for morning or evening jogs, walks or biking as you pass fields of corn in the summer, eagle's nest 1/4 mile away and horse and dairy farms. Bring your x-country skis or your snow mobile in the winter and start your trip right from our front door on groomed snow mobile trails or on a "rails to trails" less than a mile away. Price includes the 9% New Hampshire Rooms & Meals tax.
Lovely, clean home of cheesemakers. If you love cheese this is the place for you! Two bedrooms are available, one has a queen size bed and the other has a trundle bed. There is a shared bath for the two rooms. You are invited to make yourself at home and use the kitchen and the rest of the cozy home we built in 2003. We have a cheese aging room in our home and make the cheese at a small farm 12 miles from our home. We are located in the countryside 4 miles from our historic village of Walpole, NH which has a great chocolate shop and fabulous restaurants, vineyard and winery, artist co-op, summertime flea market, a creamery with the best homemade ice cream and a couple of cheese makers (and we are one of those cheese makers). Ski areas are a 45 minute drive. Boston is a 2 hour drive and NYC is a 4 hour drive. We request a 2 night stay during fall foliage in October.
Our home is in a quiet rural setting. In the spring you are lulled to sleep by the spring peepers (small frogs that make a big sound) and the summer has the frog songs, all from our nearby pond and wetlands. Bird songs are enjoyed during the day.
  • The place was clean and beautifully appointed. Sonia and her husband were very hospitable. I would recommend their air B and B to anyone needing a place to stay in the area.

  • It was such a pleasure staying with Joe and Sonia. The vista of fields, woods, and distant mountains is spectacular. Their place was very clean, comfortable, and serene. They made us a delicious homemade breakfast from their organic garden. It's exactly what we were looking for on an Airbnb with their unmatched hospitality and friendliness. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Linda2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a wonderful stay at Sonia and Joe's, it was difficult to leave! The house is comfortable and beautiful, with lovely views of the New Hampshire countryside. Sonia made breakfast each morning, a nice surprise, including apples from their tree. I was welcome to use the kitchen anytime for cooking, or storing food in the refrigerator. We had such fun conversations, and I loved hearing about their former work as artisanal cheese makers. Do book a stay here, you won't regret it!

  • The hospitality of the hosts is absolutely tops. Everything is taken care of and you are given room to enjoy and appreciate the space at your leisure and in great comfort. This was a business trip and to land at night in such beauty and comfort was memorable and luxurious. This took care of my needs and more.

    Jonathan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The highest level of hospitality! Great hosts with an extremely comfy setting.

    Jonathan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best AirBnB I’ve ever been to. I couldn’t have stumbled upon a better port in the snowstorm. If I’d written this charming a place into a book by happenstance, no one would believe it! My room was comfortable, the space was steeped in historical charm, and Ed and Eileen were enthusiastic about ensuring my comfort. I made a pot of tea to drink in my room, and the breakfast the next morning was NO. JOKE. I felt like a proper queen. I will definitely be staying again, for longer, and bringing friends.

    Lauren2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Ed and Eileen was fantastic. A comfortable bed, a lovely home, and generous and friendly hosts. We stayed in several places on a NE tour and the Eva Blake house was far and away our favorite. We hope to make it back again some day! Truly a not to miss visit if it’s in your travel plans.

    Jesse2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is incredibly victorian, Ed and Eileen were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious!

    Flo2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The best air B and B we ever stayed at. The hospitality is amazing. Their attention to detail in restoring the home takes you back to another era. Charming breakfast in the morning that makes you feel like your Victorian upper class! Highly recommended

    Rachael2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This home is beautiful and the hosts were amazing. I would highly recommend staying here. Conveniently located off several highway systems and minutes from downtown Bellows Falls. Eileen and her husband gave me a fascinating history lesson of the town and their lovely property. Breakfast was wonderful. Thank you both very much.

  • Rodrigos place was magical. We spent the majority of our stay cooking in the spacious kitchen, sitting by the wood fired stove, and in the outdoor sauna. I highly recommend his airbnb, and would love to come back in the summer.

    Dimitri2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect romantic getaway in the woods. Rodrigo’s place is unique and beautiful, and we would love to stay again!

    Claudia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at Rodrigo's place and it was just as great as the first three times. As always, it was an absolutely amazing getaway. Highly recommend.

  • Wonderful. If you want to get away this is the place to do it.

    David2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rodrigo’s place is both stylish and cozy. The view is fantastic, the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking tools, and the bed is extremely comfortable. The sauna and fireplace are added bonuses that made for a wonderful weekend getaway.

    Meredith2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rodrigo's space is perfect for helping to create romance and relaxation. My favorite aspects of my stay were tending to the wood stove, going on a long walk through the woods tracking fox prints in the snow, and using the private sauna. Definitely worth the stay.

Cozy efficiency apartment with loft. Daybed downstairs doubles as a couch. This apt works well as a stay-cation spot too. Sanitizing of surfaces done in between all stays. We are close to downtown Putney, which features a live music venue, an independent bookstore (roasting their own coffee!) and local food co-op. There are lots of hiking trails in Putney, as well as cross-country skiing opportunities. Close to Landmark College, the Putney School and the Greenwood School.
The apt is a separate space, suitable for two people very comfortably, three if good friends or family.
Putney Mountain is a short, beautiful hike. Black Mountain is also lovely. There is an independent bookstore, a General Store, and a food co-op. There is a Farmer's Market at the local orchard during the winter months, and the Putney Craft Tour is famous for the quality of the artisans.
  • Amazing place, sparkling clean, easy to find and very nicefull touch. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Gay's apartment is a very cute space that had everything we needed to enjoy a night away from home. The loft bedroom was adorable, and so was the daybed and kitchen. My boyfriend and I were very comfortable there, and I would definitely recommend it! They also left a homemade chocolate coconut bar that was gluten free and dairy free, which was completely unexpected, but amazing because I have those dietary restrictions! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

  • This is a lovely first floor unit with lots of privacy. The bedroom is in a second floor loft but there is also a daybed on the first floor. The kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, with many thoughtful touches to make the place more welcoming. We loved the exposed beams, comfy flannel linens and beautiful views! The sulphur content in the water is pretty high so someone with a sensitivity might be uncomfortable, but we didn't mind it. Gay was great about communicating and very responsive when we had a question. We definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days!

    Kim2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect spot for a 1 night ski vacation. Gay was outside to greet us and she was very flexible about check in because of a snow storm. Very clean are with only a 20 minute drive in to Brattleboro and less than an hour to mount snow. Would recommend.

    Eli2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect spot for a long weekend getaway! Gay's place is very cozy and well stocked with lovely touches like tea/coffee, they even included fresh butter and half&half in the fridge. It is conveniently located off the main road in Putney, perfect for exploring the Brattleboro/Bellows Falls area. Would be delighted to stay here again!

Friendly, family-style conversation in a country setting and home that is inviting enough to make it difficult to leave. Other guests likely share my feelings and certainly the one guest I met does so. You will love your stay!

Beautiful four bedroom Southern Vermont home located within 15 minutes to Vermont Academy, Putney School, The Greenwood School and Landmark College. Access to cross country ski trails and miles of hiking trails right outside the door! 45 minute drive to Okemo Mountain! and 1 hour to Killington, Bromley, Stratton, and Mt. Snow. Spend your long weekend, Christmas, or vacation in this lovely remote location! I would consider small, hypoallergenic, non-shedding dogs. Please ask ahead of time.
Screen porch and surround earth terrace provides opportunity for evenings outdoors. Enjoy the quiet and privacy of a rural home. It is our preference (and that of our insurance agent) that the wood stove only be used when there is a power outage.
This home is one mile up a dirt road in rural southern Vermont. It is located in an ideal setting and ready for you to enjoy a peaceful time away!
  • Amy was a great host, spent the weekend with family to go skiing and the house had everything we need! Would come back again! Thanks amy!!

  • This place is hidden gem: charming, super cozy and private, no neighbors in plain sight. Amy has been very responsive as well. Highly recommended!

    Dariia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amy is an open and trusting host. Her home was the perfect venue for my birthday. The house itself is gorgeous and the surroundings idyllic, especially for weathering a snow storm. Thanks!

    Clara2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended! Our host, Amy, was accommodating and responded to all of our inquiries quickly. The house was clean, well organized, and located on a beautiful plot of land. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay.

    Kevin2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's home is beautiful and well appointed - it was the perfect spot for a group of old friends, their partners and babies to get together for a weekend. The open floor plan was great, as was the well-stocked kitchen. To top it all off, Amy was a phenomenal host: she helped us switch dates at the last minute when a family emergency cropped up in the fall and she was checking in during our stay to ensure everything was as expected. I couldn't recommend her home more.

    Mike2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's house was lovely with great views of the surrounding woods and beautiful touches like a Christmas tree, flowers and candles. The house was super clean, comfortable and well-appointed with great art and furniture. Amy made our check-in easy and was quick to respond to all communications. We had a great time and would love to come back again sometime. :)

    Diana2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home!

    Evie2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's place was the perfect holiday getaway for my family and I. My husband's and my place in Marlboro, VT was much too small to host my sister, brother-in-law, and parents for the holidays so we decided to rent a space in the area. Amy's house was the perfect size for 6 adults; it was roomy, cozy, and beautiful. We kept remarking on how perfect and lovely it was! The large kitchen could not have been better for all the Christmas cooking we did and the living room fit us all comfortably. Amy even asked if we would like a Christmas tree; we did and the live tree she put up and decorated was the cherry on top of a wonderful stay. I'm definitely recommending Amy's place to friends and family.

Cozy, light filled guest bedroom with a memory foam bed. Our guests agree: this bed is super comfy! Spacious shared bathroom. This modest, clean and warm home is on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to parks and trails. We're less than 5 minutes from major shopping plazas and Antioch University; about 7 minutes to downtown and Keene State College.
Our guest room is quiet and clean, with hardwood floors and views of green spaces from both windows. Nice sunset views and ample closet space for storage. Blackout drapes provide a restful environment. Please note that if you are especially tall, this may not be the bed for you! It is a double (full) size bed with headboard and footboard.
We're in a suburban neighborhood; vehicle traffic on our street is pretty minimal. Our lot sits between a wooded park and school athletic fields; on weekdays, expect to see morning and afternoon school foot traffic, and sports practices in the afternoons during fall and spring. Weekends and evenings are typically very quiet.

The Rose Room is a spacious bedroom in a beautiful Victorian home with elegant yet comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is extraordinary as are the tiled bathroom and the deep, long claw foot tub. Tall ceilings, oriental carpets and attention to detail make this room and home visually attractive and charming. Bellows Falls offers a movie theater (one of the largest screens in New England and ) all seats $5), an antique emporium and great restaurants. Plus an old time diner.
Called the Rose Room because of the wall color and the antique Oriental rug with a rose background, this room is situated on the first floor. This room has access to a unique and beautiful bathroom. The tiled bathroom was created in a European style with the shower as part of the room. Lush plants create a special setting.
  • All I can say is that I had an absolutely wonderful experience. Barbara is the quintessential hostess (and my Mother went to finishing school...). Barbara could not have been more gracious, thoughtful, considerate or helpful. Her historic Victorian home has been lovingly and beautifully restored to its original splendor and is a treat to stay in. It is located within easy walking distance of the Village of Bellows Falls which has some lovely restaurants and shops. This is a real find and if you are reading this review - stay there. (I just hope that when I return that she'll still have space for me!)

  • Barbara is an interesting, friendly person and since this is the 3rd time I have stayed, getting to be just like staying with an old friend.

  • I had a wonderful stay. Barbara was a lovely host, and her historic home has such great character. The house is conveniently located within easy walking distance of local shops and restaurants, and a couple of minutes by car from Shaw’s supermarket. I stayed in the Rose Room, which was spacious, and also had to plenty of other spots in the common places and backyard to relax and work on my laptop. Will definitely return.

The area is home to great hiking, boating, skiing, antiquing and New England's laid back, friendly, welcoming communities. This village of Bellows Falls is home to many old, gracious Victorian homes, a lovely downtown with unique shops, wonderful restaurants and beautiful views of the Connecticut River and the hills of New Hampshire. The house is one of the old Victorians, creatively rehabbed into a grand yet down-to-earth home. A backyard is available for guests' lounging outdoors.
The Blue Room is on the second floor, overlooks the backyard and has two large windows. A large closet and chest of drawers is available. A bathroom is nearby, on this floor.
  • Really beautiful and clean, wonderful service and amenities!

  • Barbara's is a grand old home in excellent condition, and she is warm and welcoming. Very comfortable stay, with a host that goes out of her way to make you feel at home.

  • My time at Barbara’s wonderful home was more of an experience than a stay. The home is such a lovely older antiqued home that has been restored and kept up so beautifully. Barbara is one of the most wonderful host you could have through the Airbnb experience. I would definitely stay there again given the chance.

    Cheryl2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My Dad actually stayed this time. It was everything I had explained to him. He will definitely stay there on his next trip to Vermont. Great value for the money.

  • Barbara’s place is the best Airbnb I have stayed at, and what an opportunity to stay in such a beautiful Edwardian home! Great facilities, breakfast items, gorgeous rooms, garden. Short walk to the Main Street -Moon dog cafe & Wunderbar were my favourites. Thank you Barbara, such a wonderful host & I hope to stay again beautiful Bellows!

    Jody2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara is the nicest person on the planet and couldn’t be more hospitable and accommodating. She went above and beyond in a near crisis situation for me. Her communication before with advice during my visit was exceptional. Bellows Falls is charming and the location of her magnificent home is perfect. I’ve had many, many fabulous Airbnb experiences and visited Vermont several times, but my stay far exceeded my expectations.

Cozy cabin nestled in the secluded woods along a rushing brook just outside Grafton village. You'll find it in the heart of southern Vermont's ski and hiking country just a short drive to Green Mountain NP. Designed to wrap your soul in flannel sheets, this tiny home has all the charm to allow you to live out your cabin-life fantasies hassle free. Perfect for lovers, bromances, gal pals, cuddle buddies, close friends, and just about any one else who wants to unwind, get close and personal.
This home uses an indoor modern composting toilet and anyone squeamish about it should maybe think twice; though, you'll likely be pleasantly relieved (pun intended). It's not that different so don't fear. The stair is a fun addition, but it's steep and dangerous for infants or toddlers or for those with limited mobility. The cabin is made of fir that's actually harvested and milled directly from the site! If you're allergic to fir, this isn't the place for you; every square inch is fir! This is a very inclusive rental and we especially welcome the LGBT community. I prefer no pets please. If it's nice out, do not miss taking the hammock (hanging inside) down by the brook and relaxing for a while. You'll find the hooks on two trees down beside the stream. If it's dry out, grab some firewood at a roadside stand for a fire in the pit outside. The cabin is homey and cozy but you'll want to be outdoors as much as possible!
Grafton is an incredible Georgian era village that is scenic and well preserved. Shops, galleries, museums, an adorable grocery/deli, the historic Grafton Inn, Phelps Pub, tennis courts, parks, swimming pond, mountain biking, cross country skiing, hiking can all be found in a short walk around the village and an easy walk from the cabin. The Mollie Beattie State Forest and Grafton Trails and Recreation Center are both nearby as well.
  • This house was the perfect size for two to get away from it all for a long weekend and simply enjoy nature and be present. This lovey home was equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen tools to bathroom amenities and warm blankets. We even drove to mount snow a couple times for snowboarding. Thank you!

    Cleopatra2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little retreat spot in the woods but also close to town. Perfect for some solitude for reading, writing or whatever suits you. And just minutes away from the Grafton Outdoor Center and Trails for x-country skiing and snowshoeing.

  • The Owl's Nest is probably the coolest place to plan a staycation in Vermont. If the weather is inclement or you find yourself stuck indoors, this tiny house is packed with a myriad of books, maps and antique artifacts to explore.

  • Beautiful spot in a cozy VT mountain town. The house was just as described and perfect for a couple nights away for two of us. Clean, plenty of amenities, comfy bed and a tranquil stream outside. Danny was a great host. We’ll be back!

  • The Owl’s Nest cabin is a dream! The pictures are just a glimpse at what wonder this cabin holds. My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was the most wonderful weekend getaway. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The attention to details is fantastic. We came in January with snow on the ground and can’t stop imagining what all seasons here look like. We look forward to coming back!

    Rita2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing remote location to get away, yet less than a mile from town for accessibility. Dinner at the Grafton inn and breakfast at country girl diner (only 15 min drive) are musts!

  • What a truly magical place! My bf and I arrived shortly after snowfall and it was absolutely beautiful. The cabin was warm and toasty despite the weather, such a cozy and beautifully decorated space.

Surrounded by gardens of flowering perennials, vegetables and chickens coop, my charming little house sits atop a ferned hill, overlooking the Saxtons River. Each room is a unique mix of original art and eclectic furniture, comfortable and welcoming, I hope. My studio is available to rent for a group to work or as a workshop classroom. I facilitate workshops in collage and writing and floor cloth painting, but you are welcome to create your own private studio group. Dogs may be welcome.
Each room offers comfortable seating and interesting books to peruse. 3 porches and back yard seating offer views of river, gardens, chicken yard and the sounds of the river and birds. The Poetry Room provides a quiet space with paintings that depict Greek mythology and other classical poetry. But guests are invited to bring an original poem to add to the poetry wall or a favorite poem or song. A view to the back garden and the rustle of leaves lulls guests to sleep during warmer weather but always offers a beautiful view from the window.

We have converted the sauna cabin into a simple retreat at the forest's edge. Nothing fancy, but a fabulous view over the treetops to Canoe Brook below and there are trails that wind through the woods and landscaped gardens of our homestead. You can hear the creek and the barred owls sing in the evening. There's a small woodstove for cool nights and evenings. The Putney School and Green Mountain Orchard are close by as are all of the lovely attractions of the Putney and Brattleboro area.
The cabin is on our property which has flower and vegetable gardens as well as countless trails and walking routes. You can bike the gravel roads, explore the many swimming holes nearby, and visit local farmers markets and orchards. This is rural Vermont living. We have a dog on the property who is friendly. We also run an active artist studio producing paintings and ceramics. The cabin is right next to our house so there will be casual interaction when visiting though we fully respect your privacy. The cabin is small and should really be thought of as a camping experience. There's no kitchen so bringing your own camping gear for meals is essential. There are no sleeping mats or bedding provided. You must bring your own sleeping pads and sleeping bags/bedding. There is no running water, however there will be a large water dispenser in the cabin filled with fresh water for your stay. There is an outhouse, but no shower or full bathroom. Think, simple.
We are the first driveway after the asphalt ends. Rural roads meandering past farms and old stone walls, the perfect routes for checking out the fall colors are right out the door. The Putney School trails for skiing and hiking literally begin at the door of this cabin. You can go for miles of trails here, or nearby is Putney Mountain and the Pinnacle--local favorites that offer even more opportunity to explore this magic landscape. And Putney as a village provides so much in the form of arts, theater, farmers markets, orchards, and great people.
  • This is a sweet little rustic cabin to camp in for a weekend of hiking, trail running or just being quiet and unplugged. The location is quiet and an ideal distance to the quaint town of Putney. There are extensive trails right out the back door and a beautiful brook below the cabin. If you are a camper this is a real treat in the colder months with a woodstove and big windows overlooking a beautiful forest. Aaron was accommodating and kind. A great find!

    Amy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Putney is stunning in the fall! The Cabin Retreat was truly memorable. The location is incredible - cute, rustic cabin made comfy in the autumn chill by a wood stove; hiking literally out the back steps and loads of places to hike around the area; the aesthetic of the cabin grounds is truly lovely. Aaron was welcoming (so was Thistle!), quick to respond, and helpful with suggestions about places to go & things to do.

    Maggie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such an adorable cozy cabin, and Aaron was an outstanding host. He had recommendations for hiking, food, and activities; the cabin was clean and supplied with fresh water, and he had an extra sleeping bag when my boyfriend forgot his. Loved it!

    Camelia2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best camping AirBnb’s I’ve ever stayed in! Aaron and his wife are so friendly and welcome. They met us at check in and told us all about the trails behind the tiny house as well as great swimming holes and hikes in the area. They provided drinking water and electricity which was exactly what we needed. Will definitely stay again if I get the opportunity!

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Thistle gave us a lovely welcome greeting as we arrived around sunset. Beautiful, creative and inviting touches in a sweet natural setting. Lovely, lovely. The tiny cabin didn't feel too small because of the nice size windows that invited in the woodsy surroundings. A string of lights were on to say "Come on in!" We completely enjoyed our stay, took a few hikes, refreshed ourselves in the creek and slept well listening to crickets and owls at night, distant roosters in the morning. Aaron helped us get familiar with the area and was easy and enjoyable to talk to as well. This is a fun and peaceful way to take a break and enjoy the natural world without setting up a tent, hassling with bugs or dirt. A wonderful experience all around. Highly recommend a stay. A great value! Donna

In the village there is a wonderful farm to table restaurant, the Gleanery. A local pub, friendly, great food with indoor and outdoor dining, JD's Pub. The General Store, is the oldest continually run general store in Vt. The Next Stage, Yellow Barn, Sandglass Theater, these places provide an amazing collection of visual, musical, spoken word and world renowned art and artist to experience. These cultural event locations are but a mile away for the Cottage I hope you choose for your stay.
Originally built as a guest house. A perfect getaway for some peace and quiet. It gets dark here at night, very dark. You will see a sky full of stars most nights. Only a mile from the village on a dirt road. Very quite, private and in the woods. Extra care is put into cleaning every surface between guests. Keeping it very clean brings me another peace of mind I can share with you.
  • We loved staying in the cottage! It was the perfect place to get away from it all. Kathleen was a very welcoming host, extremely friendly and kind. We had everything we needed for a perfect little get-away and can't wait to come back!

  • Kathleen cabin was the perfect place to get away into nature during our trip to Vermont. Tucked away, it was the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet in her comfortable cabin. Kathleen was the perfect host even accommodating our late 9 pm arrival, and then graciously teaching us how to use her wood stove. The wood stove was the perfect touch to the clean and cozy cabin. Kathleen was quick to respond to questions through texts and calls and we can’t wait to be back. Thank you Kathleen!

  • Kathleen’s place was super cozy and super rustic. It is nice to stay here because you really get the sense that you are out in the woods.

    Rj2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage is a perfect retreat when you want to get away from it all. Kathleen is responsive to questions and ensures there is plenty of wood for the stove, tips for the area including having a flashlight for late afternoon walks and some supplies in the fridge (milk, granola, yogurt..). The bathtub with the view of the woods is heavenly and the bed was cozy and warm with another great view of the woods. It's rustic with the pleasures of on demand hot water, electricity and good cell service. My hardest decision was whether to sit up in the bedroom or down by the wood stove hearing it crackling.

    Tracy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's place was absolutely fantastic! She was very communicative, kind, and flexible. Everything was incredibly clean - and just as described. Super adorable place, and perfect for a getaway. The town is nearby - with great restaurants and diners and lovely people. Will likely be back, and could not recommend more.

    Kiah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s place is perfect for an escape. The cabin has small touches that make your weekend perfect. The wood stove was warm and cozy on a snowy weekend. It was the most comfortable bed with the softest blankets. Hope to come back again.

  • Kathleen’s cabin is tucked away in a quiet spot, surrounded by trees and close to everything in Putney. There are thoughtful touches to the cabin, a big bathroom and laundry (a nice touch for those, traveling. Grab a meal at the Coop or Store and take it back to a restful spot. This cabin served my needs well this trip to VT and Kathleen was a great host.

One bedroom apartment with kitchenette (mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave, dishes etc.), full bathroom with laundry, and open living space. I am an English teacher, so there are lots of books! Apartment is located in the Village of Saxtons River- within easy walking distance from the Market, Vermont Academy, our new Park, and Main Street Arts.
This space was a full apartment under a previous owner, but no longer has a full kitchen, so minus the stove-thing, it is a big cheerful apartment. We have provided enough for kitchenette life (making coffee, storing take-out, making pb&j sandwiches...) and lots of nice spaces to read, hang out, and enjoy your time in southern Vermont. The bedroom has closets, there is room for a crib if you are traveling with young children (we have an extra if needed), decorations are artsy and eclectic. In the bathroom there is a full washer and dryer, and a combined tub/shower.
Saxtons River is a small town, with the standard general store, inn (with bar), breakfast place, and church. There is a cool arts organization (Main Street Arts) that often hosts art shows and theatrical productions. We are also really close to Bellows Falls, which has a few nice restaurants, some breakfast spots, coffee shops, and antique stores. We are also really close to Grafton, Chester, Putney, and about 45 minutes from Okemo.
  • Whitney's AirBNB is adorable! My friend and I only stayed one night but the stay was clean, warm and the bed was very comfy. The town is very quiet and we enjoyed a bit of the night sky for once. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

  • 1st AirBNB experience, and it will be a hard one to top. Lovely space with lots of room. Travelling to a local event with dogs. Host was very accommodating. How can a place with Make Way For Ducklings, the Harry Potter series and a Tom Robbins novel be bad? Look forward to visiting again.

    Laura2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one very short night, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We received detailed information on where to park and how to access the apartment. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised; the space was larger than I expected. Very cute and cozy. Note in the description that there is no stove/oven, but there is a mini-fridge; larger than the usual college-type mini fridge. Plenty of space in it for a couple of days of groceries for small meals and snacks. The bed, and bedding, was very cozy! After a long drive, crawling into a comfy bed was a treat! Wish we could have stayed longer, but if we are back in the area we'll definitely look to stay here again!

  • We were seeking a cute & pet-friendly apartment as our relative is in a nearby assisted living facility—this place was just adorable!! It was nice and toasty when we arrived, and when the overnight low dipped below zero, we were snug as a big in a rug! If you are a reader, you will be in heaven—books abound! Clean, with a kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator, and coffee accoutrements such as cream and sugar as well as some teabags made this exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend and we will be back!

    Raymond2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen’s apartment is amazing. It’s in an old Victorian home with great historic features, quiet yet very close to downtown. The decor is uniquely curated with beautiful art and sculpture, brightly colored walls, comfy furniture. The kitchen has everything you need. We were greeted with a personalized hand-written note, cookies, and local apples and cider. One of our favorite stays ever!

  • I have stayed several times and will continue to consider this my first choice in bellows falls. Kristen’s personal touches are what Airbnb is all about. Her place is an artist’s haven, beautiful design and artistic touches. Tasty local seasonal treats like fresh local cider and cider donuts await your arrival. I almost always am able to check in early and leave a little late, although don’t hold me to that. She is an excellent communicator with regards to that. I’ll return a million times. Mickie

  • Kristen's place is just stunning. She has a great eye for art and design. Her recommendations around town were spot on. She provided apple cider and donuts which made our fall trip to Vermont perfect. There is a generous selection of good books, a nice roomy kitchen, and a wonderful view of the church and cemetery from the comfy, warm living room sofa. The local town is really charming and friendly. We plan to return next fall!

  • Andrea's place is cozy, clean, and a perfect retreat from it all! It is also close to everything the area has to offer. We love staying here!

    Lora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and spacious apartment for two of us! We loved the in-floor heating and gentle dog who came to say hi to us at our door. The town of Putney is very cute with Brattleboro just down the road!

  • A great find for a weekend away!

    Hannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place had everything one would need while away (except a microwave). It was very quiet and peaceful but occasionally could hear footsteps from upstairs. Andrea quickly replied whenever I texted and yet was patient when I took time to reply due to being away from my phone. The place is as described and would recommend it for any types of getaway including romantic ones. It was one for me and newly hubby.

    Hansarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea’s apartment was perfect for our weekend away. The kitchen was great for making breakfast in the morning and the walk down to the river was a great way to start the day.

    Erin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very comfortable, clean, and modern. The walk down behind the house to the stream was quite beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and Andrea, the host, was a sweetheart.

    Mary2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb and the apartment location was peaceful. Sweet, roomy, comfy and cozy all in one. Our last day met owner and sweet daughter and Milo. I would definitely stay here and recommend this Airbnb to family and friends who plan to visit Vermont.

Welcome to the Gold Room of the gracious Eva Blake House, named for our 188os Shingle Victorian's original owner. Our home welcomes guests who like to travel in time as well as space. Much of the original layout details, and furnishings remain. A delicious, fresh breakfast is available between 8 and 10 AM. A short walk to Bellows Falls. The Gold Room has one double bed.
This is the Master Bedroom of the house with a stained glass window in a cozy reading nook, fireplace, and 2 rockers.
Ours is a quiet neighborhood on one of Bellows Falls' many lovely terraces. In town you'll find a great bookstore, gift and antique shops, jeweler, the Bellows Falls Opera House with first run movie showings for $5, and farm-to-table restaurants. Nearby is the famous Vermont Country Store, Rockingham Meeting House, and Weston Playhouse. Simon Pearce glassblowing outlet store, brewery and distillery, world class science museum, King Arthur Flour Store and School?? All exits away on 91!
  • Beautiful home / b&b in a great little town, great breakfast and hosts. A+!

  • This place was the perfect spot for a romantic Vermont weekend! The house is charming, Eileen and Ed are so kind, the town has plenty of options for food, drink, and adventure, and the breakfast in the morning was amazing. We’ve stayed in many places in Vermont, but this is a spot we are making plans to come back to! Would highly, highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy night in an idyllic Vermont town.

  • Wonderful 19th century home. Beautiful and comfortable bedroom with an amazing breakfast in the morning.

    Chris2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience! They were extremely nice and thoughtful in every detail of our stay. Totally recommend staying at their place.

    Gloria2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Where to even begin!!! I stayed with Ed & Eileen last year (which was SUCH a wonderful experience) and then again this year while I was attending a local artist retreat. They are some of the most hospitable, gracious and kind-hearted people out there. Ed & Eileen always make me feel SO welcome from the moment I arrive. They greeted me with delicious appetizers and sparkling cocktails to enjoy on the porch with them. My room was gorgeous, spotless and SO comfortable. They even had a little gift basket waiting for me! The breakfast in the morning is just incredible!!! I loved getting to choose from the many delicious options-such as pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, sausage, pineapple juice, orange juice, etc. And I swear they have the best coffee ever. :-) As I mentioned, this is my second stay with them and they truly do make you feel like family. I loved coming home to them after my workshop in the evenings--we would enjoy wine and wonderful conversations on the front porch together. The last night was really special and we went into town and enjoyed drinks and appetizers at one of the local bars-what a great time!! Ed & Eileen are truly so special and I can honestly say I consider them family at this point. Do yourself a favor and stay at this beautiful home. 10 STARS!!!! I cannot wait to come back. <3 <3 <3

  • I really enjoyed my stay in this lovely house. Eileen and Ed are warm and welcoming, helpful with suggestions for the local area and provide delightful small touches that make your visit special. I hope I am able to return to Vermont and to this wonderful home.

    Dorothy2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Eileen and Ed extended a very gracious and warm welcome to me. Their home was absolutely beautiful and very relaxing in every way. I would have enjoyed staying longer than my one night. It could have been a destination in itself. They have a lovely front porch to sit on and ponder the view of the mountains, they are close enough to walk into town to enjoy the restaurants and shops, and they served the most delicious complimentary breakfast. It was wonderful.

    Judith2019-05-26T00:00:00Z

You would have the entire second floor, up a fairly steep stairway, which has two bedrooms (a queen and a full size) and a private bathroom. Our house is in rural New Hampshire surrounded by pastureland and gardens but is only 10 minutes from Keene. There are plenty of outdoor recreation possibilities. There are miles of trails adjacent to our property for walking or running, biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Many major ski areas are less than an hour away.
It is a quiet and picturesque setting. We have 2 mountain bikes available for use as well as cross country skis, skates and snowshoes for winter time. A rail path runs near the house with miles of trails. We provide a light breakfast of toast or english muffins with homemade jams and tea or coffee
We live on a dirt road with rail trails adjacent to our house. We have many gardens, fruit trees and a large veggie garden. It is quiet and rural yet easy access to Brattleboro or Keene.
  • Jan and Dan were excellent hosts! They were very accommodating and understanding of our trip plans etc. They were happy to y’all with us and be pleasant, but also happy to leave us to ourselves when necessary. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with them. PS their cat Gary is a cuddler!

We've got real snow and cold. Skiiing Nordic and Alpine couldn't be better! Great views & comfortable feel. Windows S & E Moon & sun rise, fire flies, evening skies, bird song. Full-size lower & twin upper in what was my daughter's bunk bed. Cathedral ceiling. Southern yellow pine. > PLEASE READ details under The space! If you are a teacher, organizer, activist, artist or need more of a deal, please ask. Please consider a tip if you need more than one bed. :^) GRACIAS ~ MERCI ~ DANKE ~TANKU
IMPORTANT INFO FOLLOWS :^) First: If you want more of a deal: You can make up your own bed and strip it when done, I will supply linens and towels. Let me know!!! Second: In the Winter, your bedroom is heated by the sun or an electric heater which I will ask you to turn off once you've snuggled in under the ample covers! It's warm downstairs where the floor is heated by water heated in the wood stove. My home is half of a small hay barn. the East half. Two floors. Two bedrooms, a sewing room/den, and bathroom make up the upstairs. First floor is a big downstairs with separate pantry/basin room and laundry room, Also a sun/plant room and a big deck. >>> I made a conscious choice NOT to spend thousands of dollars on a septic system so there are NO FLUSH TOILETS on the premises. This saves 100s of gallons of water each month. If you like the idea of sharing the fertility of your manure in the outhouse then you'll enjoy being here. If you cant bear the thought of not having a flush toilet to whisk your feces away (where?) than you wont! There is a bidet for peeing in the bathroom, also a tub, a basin & a separate shower. It's a normal bathroom except that there's NO toilet. There IS Hot water, ahh what a luxury. And when the wood stove is running, we're heating water with wood! In the winter, the bedrooms are cool, even cold when we shut our doors to sleep or for privacy. I use a soapstone to warm my bed before getting in! There's one for you too. And I can provide a small elec heater for when you're hanging out in your room but you'll have to snuggle under the covers for the night. My house will be in various levels of disheveledness. I work part-time 3 jobs one of which is being a teacher of many and various groups and have materials for all of it. I love books and have quite a few. 4 guests are possible b/c overflow options exist. Bed in den. 2 couches in LR.... With every guest comes more linens and work. Please consider a tip if you need more than one bed. Your room will be simple, clean and tidy but I can't promise that my whole house will be. Welcome to my world!
Lots of hiking near and far. woods, streams, hills, pastures, mountains... I have a folder of info for you to use. you can walk out the door. Or ski... or drive 2 or many miles to find all kinds of hiking. two fun towns nearby: Bellows Falls (with the cheapest and comfyest movie theater) and Brattleboro. North and South respectively along the Connecticut River. These days people use the roads. Route 5 / Interstate 91. I am a ten minute drive from Putney which is about 15 minutes from BF & Bratt.
  • GO is a lovely host. Kept the Woodburning fire going all night.

  • Cozy, eclectic, and admirably sustainable home, lovely night’s sleep, great communication and attention to detail (notes around house with helpful info were much appreciated) and very cute cats :) Would stay again.

  • Quirky, unique, artsy home :)

    Julia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy home with a clear view out the window of the sun or the night sky. Greenough's cats made for nice company and I liked the aesthetic of the space with lots of books and photographs, art, travel guides, etc. I appreciated the experience in the winter but would love to return in the summer. The towns of Putney and Brattleboro kept my boyfriend and I entertained for the weekend with hiking trails, corner stores, arts and culture, and restaurants. It was a lovely weekend trip for us New Yorkers!

    Kristen2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay... comfortable, welcoming, had everything we needed for our stay. Read everything about it to make sure it’s your speed. It is beautiful and very nice hospitality.

  • I had an amazing stay at G’Os Skunk Barn in Putney. The town itself is super cool with a laid back artsy vibe. The hostess with the mostess is so accomodating and knowledgeable on sustainability and DIY living. I loved my stay here. One of my top airbnb experiences ever. I even loved the outhouse, had a great view! If you love nature and sustainability you will love GOs place. Cozy, comfy and cool cats. What else could you ask for? Heavenly.

    Gabrielle2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible space! You can tell there was love poured into the renovation of this barn, and all the details were such beautiful touches. The cats were super lovey and wonderful additions to the trip. G’O was very thoughtful and gave us a tour of the space when we checked in and taught us how to navigate the space as there are a few things you should take note of (light switch locations, how to operate the bathroom, etc). The roads to this location were a bit difficult to navigate as warned by the host, so be careful if snowy! Suggested for low key travelers who are open minded. Would absolutely recommend staying here, will definitely stay again next time we’re in Vermont.

    Cameron2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • G’O is very warm and kind. She fostered a sense of belonging and comfort that made us feel right at home. The space is very intimate and cozy. We were fortunate to arrive on a sunny Saturday in December and hence went for a short hike with G’O nearby. Her cats are absolutely adorable and fun to play with. At night we wrapped ourselves in blankets and watched bright stars from her deck. We definitely wish to visit again!

We are located just a few miles from the village of Putney where you can find delicious food, unique arts and entertainment, and the joys of small town life. A few of our favorite spots include: The Putney General Store (Vermont's oldest general store, since 1796), The Gleanery (delicious farm to table restaurant), Antidote Books (new and used books and unique gifts), Putney Moves Yoga Studio (drop in for a lovely yoga experience), Hidden Springs Maple farm store (you have to try the maple creemees!), the Putney Diner (great breakfasts), Putney Mountain Winery (sample their delicious fruit wines and liquors at their tasting room), and the Putney Food Co-op (grab a bottle of wine, a gallon of milk or a delicious deli sandwich). • Christine's place is spotless and has all of the items that one would need for a getaway! The fresh eggs were wonderful and we enjoyed watching the chickens running around the property! The apartment was cozy and very close to the adorable town of Putney, VT. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

Acres of woodlands behind our house, quiet dirt road with big views for walks, a swimming pond up the road, interesting local history, great biking right out the door, near to alpine and nordic ski areas, wonderful and welcoming local community.
  • This is a great spot! The view is amazing, the place has a lot of character with nice personal touches, and Rick is very available and responsive. Would definitely look forward to returning!

    Susan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My 5 friends and I had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Rick's house. We were looking for a no-fuss, spacious yet cozy home in the woods, and that's exactly what we got. Skiied both days at Okemo, then came back to a warm space and cooked delicious dinners. The home is actually more beautiful in person than in photos. Sure- there were ladybugs and not 'brand new' towels/linens, but both harmless, and we didn't care at all. For the price, this was absolutely worth it. Thanks so much for your awesome accommodations and recommendations, Rick. We'd love to come back.

    Jenna2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, plenty of space and Rick is very helpful. Beautiful views of VT. Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive if visiting in the Winter.

    Adam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a view! Stayed here in the fall and enjoyed waking up to this amazing view everyday. The house is very secluded and quiet but not too far from Putney or larger towns. Darkest sky I've seen in New England, perfect for star gazing. Rick made check in and check out easy. He provided great tips for places to eat, shop, and hike.

    Katherine2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rick’s place is incredible. It’s secluded, has a wonderful view, and is close to Brattleboro (which is very quaint) and some really nice hiking trails, both in Vermont and New Hampshire. The cottage is comfy and spacious. Stayed there for Canadian Thanksgiving with my girlfriend, sister, and parents, and we all loved it. Rick is also a great host!

    Anthony2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and would stay again

    Jonathan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • There aren't many places that can give you a better sense of everything that's good in Vermont: beautiful 360 view of the surrounding hills, acres of lawns to play, and a house that feels like home. We were here in the middle of the summer, but we could imagine an equally nice stay in the fall (with all tree colors surrounding the house) or winter (with a crackling fire in the wood stove.

    Jan2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Vermont home with plenty of space. This was the perfect choice for my multi generational family every one had plenty of space. Rick was a lovely host leaving communicating in a timely manner and easy going. this was stress free AirBnB'ing. Location is just as described and if a bit rustic in accomadations more than made up for by the location, views, and ease. No need to look further when I need accommodation in that neck of the woods.

  • The place was wonderful! It was definitely an experience I will remember! If your looking for a good country experience this is the place! Very tiny but so cute! But the people and animals are so great!

  • What a delightful weekend away!! Yes, the house is quite “tiny” and there were some details to learn about a “composting toilet” for this city girl, but the space is very well-organized and every inch is used smartly. The very best parts, however, are truly the beautiful scenery (the lush greenery, the rolling mountains, and a breathtaking sunset to look at while soaking in the hot tub), the property (with all sorts of animals ready to be petted/ played with), the hospitality from our lovely and gregarious hosts, the fire pit, dining al fresco, the fabulous hiking, kayaking, and fruit-picking all within a reasonable driving distance added up to just the most perfect weekend getaway for two city dwellers!

    Carina2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon and Alan are so incredibly kind and friendly; they take amazing care of their animals and treat all of their guests so well. We had a ball seeing their animals, and their farm store food is delicious. We hope to make it up again soon!

You get exactly what they say you get! This was perfect for what we wanted and we had one of the most enjoyable times! Such a chill, relaxing and comfortable environment. Sharon and Robin were super down to earth, easy and enjoyable to talk to. There isn’t anything negative I could possibly say. Definitely plan to return!
