Places to stay in Vermont
The Hyggelig Hytte is a one of a kind Nordic inspired cabin and sauna located in the heart of the Green Mountains. 30 mins north of Montpelier deep in the woods. Glamping and leaf peeping fun! Rustic romanic, hobo hideaway, bohemian hermitage, nordic nook.
Inspired by my trip to the Faroe Islands in 2013 and my love of the Viking Age, this is your perfect one of a kind rustic glamping experience. This small 144 sq foot Nordic inspired cabin is located ~50 yards behind my house on 11 acres of mixed hardwood and evergreens. You will have your own driveway, garden, fridge and cookstove. I provide coffee and tea as well as light breakfast foods: yogurt, granola, oatmeal and fresh eggs when I have them. There are dishes, pots and pans in the cabin. There is a small electric heater for the winter months which gets it plenty cozy. Your driveway is unmarked and steep, it is located on the same side of the street as my home (1743) to the north (please follow the signs and do not use my neighbors driveways). If you cannot make it up, just park in mine and walk back. You will need snow tires in the winter! Sleeps 2 adults on a queen size futon and there is a loft for a toddler or young child. Here you can enjoy hiking around the woods, picking blackberries and relaxing in Vermont's pristine beauty. Situated 30 min north of Montpelier. Peaceful, rustic simplicity. Enjoy a fire in your own fire pit and take in the stars! No light pollution. Wild turkeys, bats, hawks, deer, and even black bears are seen in these woods. Great for couples, writers or backpackers. *****Wifi is dubious and cell service is a hit or miss. If you have Verizon, you will have much better luck than At&T or Tmobile.**** No indoor plumbing, but a 5 gallon water jug for washing hands/dishes/face etc. There is an outhouse behind the cabin. Showers, laundry and can happen in the main house. Fire pit and barbecue available for use. I provide wood, but you should bring your own kindling. Gorgeous woods to hike or snowshoe through. I have one pair for you to borrow. I enjoy meeting new people, but do not need to socialize with you. I understand that people come to get away and I want to honor your privacy. I will let you know my availability if you need help or recommendations for places to visit etc. Depending on the season, you may see me in the backyard. East Calais is a small town with one gas station/general store a 7 min drive from the cabin, but otherwise, you are out in the woods on dirt roads. We are a 30 min drive from Montpelier, and a 1 hour drive from Stowe and Jay Peak, Sugarbush ski resorts. The village of Plainfield is a 15 minute drive away and has restaurants, bars and some shops etc. There is no public transport in this part of Vermont. You will need snow tires in the winter and AWD preferably as the cabin is located on dirt roads (thought they are well maintained), but in the summer and fall this is not necessary.
East Calais has one general store a 7 minute drive from the cabin. Otherwise, the village of Plainfield is a 20 minute drive away and has restaurants, bars and some shops etc. Montpelier is a 30 minute drive south and Hardwick is a 20 minute drive north. All these towns have night life.
  • A wonderful place to get away, but still be down the road from the town center and nearby other people!

  • Amazing place will recommend to friends! Selené was so nice and friendly

    Jules2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Selene's place was great, just the perfect type of quiet get-a-way we were looking for. The cabin is close to the house but far enough away to have privacy. Looks small but feels bigger once inside. Selene was very accommodating to anything we needed. I would definitely come back in the summer or fall.

  • Surprised my gf with a weekend getaway to this super cozy cabin and we both loved it. We stayed plenty warm and enjoyed the sauna, though if you go in the winter be prepared to walk in heavy snow.

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Incredibly cozy, with great opportunities for enjoying the outdoors as well as the sauna and firepit.

    Catherine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was awesome! The driveway in the winter time is a perfect slope for sledding! definitely recommend checking in soon.

    Justin2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy lodge, it was the perfect getaway from technology that we needed! Selené was a great host.

  • This was a surprise birthday trip for my S.O. and we were both blown away at the stay here. The cabin was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a fun-filled adventure in the surrounding mountains and towns. It is 20-30 mins away from Montpelier, which is a great city with many options for food, drinks, and shopping. We loved every second of this trip and the sauna was a welcome addition, especially right after a long cold winter hike.

Everybody loves the idea of a tree house. There is something freeing, natural and connective to our childhood in the idea. Feel the gentle movement of the structure as it sighs with the wind. Life off of the ground.... even if only for a weekend.
The Hermit Thrush Treehouse The Hermit Thrush is only available between June 15th and Sept. 15th due to no heat source or insulation. In this current time of concern over the Covid-19 coronavirus, I would like to assure all my up coming and future guests that every effort is taken to thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire treehouse and cooking/eating pavilion between guests. Also that the treehouse is private and located away from other people in a township with a small population. Everybody loves the idea of a tree house. There is something freeing, natural and connective to our childhood in the idea. Feel the gentle movement of the structure as it sighs with the wind. Imagine a life off of the ground..... even if only for a weekend. And enjoy the rich sounds of the woods as it becomes your living room. This creation is organic in its feel and design, with living trees intermingling with the structure inside and out. Made from all local materials or reclaimed elements, it seems out of time as though you took a turn and found yourself in the pages of a story book. Don't be surprised if Gnomes or Elves drop by for tea. The Hermit Thrush practically disappears in the woods like the particularly enchanting song of the namesake bird. There is a double (full size) bed on the first level and three single beds on the second level. Perch on the first or second floor porch and listen to the living woods. There is even a composting toilet right in the tree house for your convenience. Bring some warm clothes since even in summer the nights can get chilly. The covered pavilion, a few meters away, has water, a sink, gas stove, refrigerator, complete set of cooking/eating utensils, and there is a large table to eat or converse over. There is a natural fire pit to enjoy as you watch the sun set in the West. An outside shower completes the picture. Keep in mind that the Hermit Thrush Treehouse is an artistic and rustic structure, designed to give a feeling of freedom and organic interaction with it's surroundings. Due to these ideals, some safety considerations are not present or reduced. For example, railing heights and spacings are irregular, stair treads and rises are irregular, ladders to bunk beds are free form, terrain is uneven and steep, hammocks are over uneven and hard surfaces, as well as other considerations not mentioned here. The treehouse is not recommended for very young children requiring supervision. All guests will be required to sign a waiver of liability upon arrival in order to stay. The woods in which the treehouse resides is a somewhat fragile environment with beautiful mosses, trillium and jack in the pulpit flowers. As much as I love animals, I do not allow dogs at the treehouse due to the fragile environment and amount of chipmunks and squirrels that dogs would feel compelled to tear around and chase. Sorry.
  • Staying at The TreeHouse was a truly wonderful experience. Rik has created a space that is something you must experience~ the house is a true work of art. We slept great and loved the beautiful outdoor setting. Thanks, Rik!

    Betsy2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My kids love the treehouse, I find it to be so relaxing. Love all the nature sounds.

    Katrina2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem, it had everything you need for some time in the woods to disconnect.

    Sarah2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot, lots of personal touches. The treehouse is really unique and creative. The kitchen is well equipped. Nice long table for eating and playing board games. The beds were comfortable. A fun way to hang out in nature. We definitely plan to return.

    Julie2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience! We had a great time and it was absolutely beautiful. Rik was a great host and there were so many little thoughtful touches that made it even more special.

    Hannah2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful and relaxing setting - our kids enjoyed it very much. It was fun to watch the chipmunks playing while we were laying in the hammocks.

    Carylton2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the treehouse. Everything is exactly as pictured and basically everything you need is already there. Do yourself a favor, keep the windows open all night for that fresh air and get in an invigorating outdoor shower in the morning! Rik definitely took some time and creative energy building this place and it shows!

    Kristen2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far our best family vacation yet. The treehouse was as others have also described “magical.” It was truly a magical experience. You don’t need to worry about finding things to do in the area, the whole set up at the treehouse is all you need for at least 3 days. We came with our 4 kids, ranging from 7 months (and crawling) to 16 (and sassy). Each kid made a memory they will have for a lifetime. Thank you so much Rik. The craftsmanship of the treehouse and kitchen is amazing, the efforts to make sure the treehouse is clean and bug free was impressive and the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. All you need to bring with you are some board games, food, and toothbrush. This was glamping at its finest. I have stayed in 6 treehouses so far and this one was the most memorable and magical. The property itself was breathtaking. Highly recommend Rik’s treehouse. Ps. I loved how Rik is ecologically conscious and provides effortless ways to dispose of trash and scraps. I could go on forever, I’m still on a tree house high... thanks so much!

1797 Vt Farm House sits quiet and serene at the end of a peaceful country road. With no street lights or sounds to mar the night, experience a rare gift of silence. See the Milky Way like never before. Ample room allows six guests to share. Since the listing is essentially the entire first floor of the Farm House and your nearest neighbor .4 miles away you will have the whole place to yourself as a private, peaceful retreat. Yet Burlington, Lake Champlain, and Smuggler's Notch are only 25 mins
Sunny first floor of a true Federal Style Vermont Farm House dating from 1797! includes: seven rooms (1542 sf): south and west facing bedroom, adjoining large bathroom, updated kitchen, south facing dining room, and separate living room. Listen to the soothing sound of Roger's Brook out your bedroom window. Walk, ski, run, or mountain bike on our private trails that traverse open pasture and forest. After your run soak in the large clawfoot tub in the second bathroom . Venture further on miles of trails that lead to the huge V.A.S.T system designed for snowmobilers but allow in our case access to skiers, walkers, mountain bikers, geocachers, trail runners, and horseback riders. For you long distance runners looking to get in your miles. The Town of Westford is blessed with 39.6 miles of dirt roads perfect for your knees and your training runs. Finally since the Farm House sits at the "end of the road" in a beautifully secluded location next to hundreds of acres of undeveloped forest you should be able to see the stars like never before! And yet for all this quiet and solitude you are only 7.8 miles from the grocery, pharmacy, cinema, shops, even a 7 million dollar spa and indoor pool at The Essex for your day use if you feel so inclined, Downhill skiing is not far: 25 minutes to Smuggler's Notch puts you on the lift there, Stowe Mountain Resort, Trapp Family Lodge, Bolton Valley, and Jay Peak are all easy day trips. In the other direction discover amazing Lake Champlain, the sixth Great Lake in the U.S. with a myriad of recreational opportunities. As a rock and ice climber I can point you in the right direction for those local activities as well. For those who are looking for night life, Burlington is a hip college town with lots of offerings. With one queen sized bed in the Master Bedroom, one queen sized futon in a curtained sleeping alcove, and one queen sized leather sleep sofa in its own room the Farm House can accomodate 3 couples quite comfortably.
Westford is one of the 251 small towns of Vermont. We are blessed with 39.6 miles of dirt roads and not a single traffic light. We have a town green with its Civil War memorial statue, library, white clapboard, steepled Congregational Church, town office, and on the green itself an ice hockey rink in the winter, ( watch the annual broomball tournament Jan 13-14, 2018 )concert venue and Monday's (3:30-6:30) farmers market in summer months. Not far from the green we have our own historic wooden covered bridge. Nearby check out the quintessential Vermont town of Jericho Center, Vermont 05465 with its country store opened in 1807.
  • Peace and tranquility awaits you here!

  • Our weekend away at the farmhouse was just what a group of friends needed! We enjoyed all of the little touches of the home, including all of Frank’s wonderful communication and hospitality. Frank was a fantastic host, providing us warm bread and local beer upon arrival. The farmhouse was cozy and well taken care of. The expansive property gave our dogs the adventure of a lifetime. We enjoyed playing in what felt like the ever falling snow and used the snowshoes and cross country ski’s daily. There was so much to explore on the property and the home was stocked with all of a home’s basic needs for us to make meals and sit by the wood burning stove at night. We even ventured to Burlington, Stowe and Montpelier while visiting - All are a quick 30 minute to an hour drive away. If you are looking for a relaxing home away from home, let Frank host you in his farmhouse, you will not miss out!

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Frank was so communicative right out of the gate! Super helpful when I ran into some problems trying to extend our stay. The house is so gosh darn cute and had every amenity need for a great weekend escape. We can’t wait to return!

    Aimee2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The home is very inviting, neat and tidy. It’s definitely a very private and quite location. My dogs felt right at home and enjoyed running free on the property.

    Gina2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful escape from the chaos of life. Frank was a thoughtful host.

    Michelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Expect the very best of Vermont. I felt like I actually was able to get away from the madness of our busy life. The ruggedness of this property made a great base camp for all thing to do in Vermont. I had never been to this State and am wondering why I did not go sooner. Frank is the beat Host I have had on Airbnb. He met us on arrival and gave a wonderful walk through of his property. The bread was baking as we entered the home. Great Vermont beer was in the fridge along with eggs and and coffee creamer. Plenty of coffee and more Kitchen equipment then you will use. Simply not enough great things to say about this stay and Frank. If you want some peace, quiet, and some rural Vermont then select this home for your next adventure. I would stay in this home again. Did I mention the fresh bread. I would do it for the bread and beer Frank had for us. Soft butter over that warm fresh bread made us drift away to our happy place. Thanks Frank, I only hope to be able to return. Jerry & Susan

    Jerry2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Frank was sooooo nice! And his place is perfect to enjoy winter in Vermont.

  • If you are looking for a place to get away from it all this is the place for you! The Farmhouse was situated relatively close to everything (i.e. Burlington, Smugglers Notch and other attractions) but far enough from others to get a true country feel. We only stayed a week and we could have easily stayed longer, there's just so much to do in that area. We loved it here and hope to go back soon!

Circa 1900 charm and back to the basics living, this cabin is a perfect little getaway spot to spend time in nature surrounded by forest, brook, wildlife, hiking trails. Simple cozy little cabin is completely off-grid. No electricity or plumbing, yet lanterns, candles, fresh water jugs provided. Unwind from the outside world and reconnect with your self or your loved ones and the natural world around you. Offering a loft with real beds, well stocked kitchen, propane stove, outhouse. Glamping!
This is tiny living! It is well stocked to meet your needs so you aren't expected to bring much. Although there is no plumbing, spring water is provided in large jugs for your washing and bathing needs, as well as large basins, buckets, and a "dry" sink. Dish-soap, hand soap, sanitizers, shampoo, all proceeds. Kitchen has a propane gas stovetop and oven. There is a charcoal grill outside. All the pots and pans and kitchen necessities as well, for all your cooking and eating needs, including a tea kettle and pour-over coffee maker. Outhouse is the only facility. Solar bag camp shower available for outdoor showers in warmer months. Private mountain stream nearby, and access to the White River is a 2 mile drove. Water basins can be heated on the wood stove for sponge baths and hair washing in colder months. And swimming holes are everywhere. Access to the loft is by a ladder. Families welcome, but not really recommended for small children that cannot climb ladder on their own, unless they are small enough for you to safely carry. The bed is a queen mattress on the floor with clean sheets and pillows, and a wide selection of blankets depending on your comfort needs. There is a twin-sized bed that also makes a cozy reading nook, or bed for child or 3rd guest. The eclectic selection of books on the shelves are both educational and informative, and some will also take you back to pioneering days and ways, and the natural world. I use all natural CDC-approved cleaning products, and keep the cabin as organic as possible, with very little plastics or chemicals except where necessary for health and safety. We live on the premesis up the road. We have a small poultry farm. You will most likely hear our hens in the distance during the day, and the sounds of the brook and owls at night.
We have one neighbor, a young family, the other is over a mile away. You are really surrounded by nature and wildlife and the forest. This forest is inhabited by everything from bear to bobcat, porcupine, fisher, fox, coyote, deer, owls and hawks, woodpeckers and migrating birds of the seasons, flying squirrels, chipmunks, mice, seasonal amphibians, brook trout, raccoons, crickets and cicadas, to name a few. No matter what season you visit, the sounds of the forest and the night will vary.
  • Amazing experience! We had a great time at the cabin. Much needed break from the grid.

    Curt2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great snowy stay, the cabin was lovely and had the nicest wood burner I’ve ever used!

    Dave2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I could not suggest this cabin more! It was recommended to me by a friend who had stayed here prior when I needed to get out of the rat race that is city living. We had such a good weekend disconnecting it was bittersweet to have to leave! So cute and cozy. Tiny lanterns and knickknacks added to the woodland environment. The wood burning stove kept the place nice and warm. Ashley was nice enough to leave out a couple of sleds for us- which we used and had a blast on one of our walks. She does not exaggerate about the road leading up to the cabin, definitely want an AWD! Highly recommend, Ashley is super friendly and available if needed, we definitely want to book another weekend here in the warmer months!

    Katie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin to disconnect and appreciate the little things in.

    Shane2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Ashley’s cabin was nothing short of magic. The perfect place to reset and recharge with nature, as well as enjoy all that VT has to offer in the winter. Highly recommended!!!

    Alex2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley and Eben are great hosts. Their off-the-grid cabin is super cozy, decorated with taste: you can really feel home since the first minute. Despite the cold weather and a snow storm, we spent a great time in the cabin. The wood stove heats up the place properly and we enjoyed the confort of the bed. Ashley and Eben were kind above expectations and helped us in freeing the car that was stuck in a hole full of snow. I will definitely need to improve my driving skills before coming back in Vermont!

    Andrea2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley's place is a dream. My friends and I had a relaxing and restorative weekend stay here. Great place to be away from the hustle and bustle, go on hikes and drink/eat delicious local grub. Highly recommended!

We are Wayward Goose Farm (visit on instagram) and we have a spacious & comfy studio apartment overlooking the activity on our working Vermont dairy farm waiting just for you. Visit the barn during milking, relax with an album on the record player, or take a walk on the rail trail right out back! Now teaming with Red Clover Ale Co. (check them out on insta too!) in Brandon, VT, we'll provide a voucher with each booking good for a complimentary pour in their new brewery/tap room!
Come spend time in southwestern Vermont! We live on a beautiful dairy farm and we love to welcome guests to our home. We have a newly carpeted, finished studio apartment above our attached 3 car garage waiting just for you! It is furnished with a comfy new queen sized bed and 2 new twin sized beds. A recently installed kitchenette, with a two burner cook top and small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee amenities, and staples (spices, oils, condiments, and an assortment of basic nonperishables) enables you to prepare simple meals. Choose to dine inside at the vintage table or make it al fresco and take your meal out to the patio when the weather permits. We are happy to stock your fridge with a complimentary jar of our own fresh, raw milk, upon request. We also stock local fresh pastured eggs in our self serve store which you are welcome to purchase. A full bath with stall shower is spacious, well appointed, and clean. Wireless internet is available but we suggest you relax with some good old board games. We've recently added a full sized ping pong table in the heated garage, just outside the apartment door..... lots of fun on rainy days or when it's too cold to brave the winter outdoors. Little ones will have fun swinging and sliding on the newly built wooden play set in the yard, in full view from the east apartment windows. We are kid friendly! Guests have a private entrance but are welcome to enjoy our lovely backyard patio and porch. If you have ever wanted to experience life on a dairy farm, this is the place for you! Guests can watch the milking chores in the morning or sleep in and just enjoy the peace and quiet. Either way, you are sure to be charmed by your surroundings. We milk 25 registered Jersey cows twice a day, every day, and sell their rich creamy milk raw here on the farm. We have a little, self-serve farm store on sight from which you can also view our morning or evening milkings. Our fresh, raw milk, grass fed beef and free range chicken, local maple syrup, and local pastured eggs are available year round. If you are a fan of micro brews you'll know that Vermont is home to the most craft breweries per capita of any state in the U.S. We are proud to team with one of VT's newest, and, in our opinion, best brew pubs, Red Clover Ale co. in Brandon and we're happy to provide a voucher for 1 complimentary pour per booking. A scenic hour's drive north, Red Clover Ale co.'s tap room is situated right over the Neshobe River in downtown Brandon and the beers are fast becoming known among craft beer connoisseurs as some of Vermont's finest. How do we know? Because their brewer Pete is our son and one of the 3 owners is our son in law Andy! Stop in with your voucher and prepare yourself for a tasting experience you won't forget! In January they were chosen one of the top 10 new breweries of 2019 in the country by @hopculturemag! Our farm's surrounding area holds plenty of opportunity for adventure. The D&H Rail Trail runs literally through our backyard and is a perfect venue for birders and hikers alike. It is 22.3 miles long and is very popular among bicyclists, cross country skiers, horseback riders, walkers and joggers. Bring your binoculars, because we've spotted everything from bald eagles to scarlet tanagers on the trail, not to mention snapping turtles! Nature lovers can also partake of nearby Merck Forest, Haystack Mountain, and the Hebron Nature Preserve. Plan a winter vacation and, if there's snow, we have an assortment of sleds and tubes you are welcome to use on the hill behind the house. Or bring your cross country skis and take them out on the rail trail out back, which is groomed by a local snowmobile club! We'll start a fire in the fire pit for you and we even stock the apartment with gourmet hot chocolate mix which you can use to make the world's best cocoa, providing you use our milk of course! In addition, we are a mere 39 minutes from Bromley mountain ski resort if you decide to have an off farm winter adventure! Message ahead of your visit and we'll try to give you up to date sledding and rail trail skiing conditions. Manchester, a mere 25 minutes away, is a very popular destination, home to numerous designer outlets, the Orvis fly fishing school and store, and the best book store in Vermont, the Northshire Bookstore. Weston, sight of the Vermont Country Store, is about an hour's drive away through some gorgeous mountain scenery. Glens Falls, and Lake George, NY are about 45 minutes and an hour away, respectively, to the west, while Saratoga Springs is just under an hour. The delightful Lake St. Catherine state park in Wells is about 15 minutes away and Emerald Lake state park in Dorset is nearby as well. World class fly fishing abounds in the Battenkill River and the Mettowee River. Burlington and all its enchantments is just under 2 hours north and the drive through Addison County, with the Adirondacks to the west across Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains to the east is absolutely breathtaking! There are great farmers markets in nearby towns as well as unique shops, eating establishments and brew pubs throughout this beautiful state. There are too many attractions to do justice to here and we are centrally located to many nearby cities from Albany, to Saratoga, to Rutland and Bennington. Since it's only an hour away, we are frequent visitors to Williamstown, MA and its treasure, The Clark Art Institute and Mass MoCa is just a short hop away in Adams. A state of the art whole-house water filtration system supplies the apartment with our fresh, clean well water so there's no need for purchased water in plastic bottles. This, along with our choice to primarily use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies, line dry our laundry when weather permits, etc. is part of our entire farm's commitment to sustainability. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and look forward to hosting you. We do not discriminate and happily welcome all genders, ethnicities, colors, shapes, sizes, astrological signs, planetary affiliations, musical tastes, etc!
Ours is a quintessential rural Vermont neighborhood... our nearest neighbors are at Consider Bardwell Farm, whose silos are visible from our yard. It's an easy and enjoyable walk down the road, along the rail trail or even through our pasture. Once there you can take a tour or sample some of their award winning cheese. The road on which we are situated is very popular with bicyclists, joggers and walkers alike in good weather and the scenery is delightful all year round!
  • What a treat! Thank you for this lovely weekend on your beautiful farm, and for the delicious milk!

  • Laurie and Dan’s farm is really something else. If you’re looking for a real, authentic getaway in Vermont their place is it

    Eric2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended place for a weekend getaway! Very hospitable hosts, impeccable cleanliness, and lots of amenities and attractions made our stay comfortable and memorable.

  • Just returned from a wonderful weekend with my boys skiing. The farm was just what we wanted, something unique, quiet but still close to all the amenities Vermont has to offer. We enjoyed sledding and snowboarding on the hill under the maple tree, snowshoeing along the Trail that runs behind the farm, and a game or two of ping pong and backgammon. The special treats on Valentines Day were a welcome surprise. The farm is located about 30 min drive from Manchester Center- we enjoyed dinner at Seasons Restaurant Manchester and Sams Wood Fired Pizza. We also rented a snowboard from Bradley’s Pro shop Manchester that my son was able to use on the hill- a little practice before we spent the day at Pico 60 min drive from the farm. If your looking for something special that’s away from the crowds but still close enough to everything. I highly recommend this special property.

  • Laurie and Dan's place is a great little spot. The views are awesome and getting to see the cows out of the windows in the morning while you drink your coffee is a nice treat. The apartment has everything you could need and a great selection of reading material, even some good books if you're interested in the finer details of the world of cheese. Thanks again for the lovely stay!

    Greg2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Dans farm is amazing. Sparkling clean, well thought out and they’re super thoughtful when it comes to amenities. I look forward to staying there again in the near future

  • This Airbnb was the perfect place to get away to for the long weekend. The apartment was much larger than we expected, allowing us to cook in the kitchen, cozy up to the electric fireplace/space heater, and play board games on the dining table in equal measure. The apartment comes fully stocked with all the necessary amenities (an abundance of soap and shampoo options, clean towels, etc) as well as two crates of a records to be played on the record player. We ran to the local liquor store and grocer, grabbed some supplies, and spent the first night drinking and cooking with The Supremes on in the background. Plus, there’s a dozen or so great board games. It snowed pretty heavily the first night, but by the time we went outside the following morning the driveway was already plowed and Dan had gone out of his way to clear our front windshield of snow. The location may seem remote at first, but proved more than enough to fill the weekend. We spent a full day in Brandon, Vermont (an hour north) visiting Dan and Laurie’s son’s brewery (a great spot) and hanging out around town. This trip was great start to finish.

    Ethan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Dan's place was the perfect escape for us to enjoy nature, peace and quiet! Having the trails right out back was fantastic and the views of the mountains from the room were gorgeous! Ps. Their dog Paul is adorable!

Located in the heart of Grand Isle, this 1835 Lakehouse catches stunning Easterly Sun and Mountain views. Previously a Cafe, this farmhouse has been recently recently renovated from head to toe, including a very large kitchen. 10min walk to the lake!
This old 3200 sq/ft farmhouse is a great space for entertaining guests. It features a large kitchen, as well as an Amish built farm table, which can extend to seat 14 people. Open the french doors and you can find more seating either on the deck or at the firepit. The house is set up similar to a duplex. The main section of the house is what we most frequently rent. It features all the large common spaces - a big kitchen, dining room, living room, full bath, and outside deck (with views!), and on the second floor provides guests with 3 upstairs bedrooms, and another full bath. For further sleeping options there is a pull-out couch (memory foam mattress, sleeps 2) in the downstairs office. Then, in the mother-in-law suite on the East side of the house (less frequently rented out, except for very small groups), there is a large master bedroom, which gets sun and moon rises over the lake and mountains, and a wet bar/kitchen, small family room, and a 3/4 bath with his and hers vanities. Because the house is designed like a duplex, we have chosen to rent out the house in a couple ways. For groups of 1-8 you would have access to the main portion of the house, including 3 upstairs bedrooms and the pull out couch in the office. For groups larger than 8, just let us know as we might be happy to go camping ;)
Grand Isle is a town located in the Champlain Islands. At it's heart you will find yourself surrounded by farmland, with artisans and farm stands around every bend. Our house backs right up to a dairy farm, which you look across to see the lake and mountain views. In the foreground you will sometimes see the Holstein cows, who can prove to be entertaining and sometimes very smelly neighbors. From barn dances, to concerts, or an afternoon swim at the beach (a 10 min walk), there are always things to do in the Champlain Islands. The farm stand scavenger hunt is one of our favorites. Get your friends together, find a great recipe and spend the day biking around the islands collecting local goods for an evening feast on the deck.
  • Such a cute place! Ample space for a big group of people! Great spot for a lowkey getaway

  • Our stay was truly amazing and magical. We spend our family holiday here coming from Montreal and we loved the ambiance. Airbnb nowadays turned into a business, which is why we were all very grateful to be in the actual home of the owners. We really felt at home and welcomed and, if I could, I would give a 20/10 for the hospitality!

    Ann2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our group had an incredible experience and we'd highly recommend staying here. The home was beautiful, just as described and Lindsay and Tom were great hosts. Next time we're back in Vermont we'll definitely plan to stay here again!

    Will2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a great weekend staying in the farm house. Perfect for catching some VT foliage. Quick ride in to Burlington for tons of shopping and restaurants.

    Tim2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully renovated antique farmhouse with a wonderful kitchen and places to hang out. We especially enjoyed the deck and campfire. We appreciated the abundant linens and towels and well-stocked kitchen. With four bedrooms, the house would be ideal for a large group or family. The house is beside Rte. 2, the north-to-south two-lane highway which traverses Grand Isle and takes you up through the adjacent Lake Champlain islands almost up to the Canadian border. It's a very scenic area with gorgeous farms and lake views. The walk through the adjacent dairy farm down a small road to the lake shore was special indeed.

    June2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Farm House for most of a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our group occupied the 4 bedrooms (not the adjacent apartment) and each was clean, comfortable and with top of the line linens. The yard is large and overlooked a couple of farms, which is entertaining. The description and photos are highly accurate and the kitchen is large and very well-equipped. Last, the notes about Lindsay being highly responsive was also our experience. We tried not to bother the owners, but they were nearly immediate in responding to our questions. Highly recommend this location for visitors to the islands.

    Tim2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely house! The kitchen was fantastic, and we loved having access to the grill and the beautiful backyard. Having a campfire there was one of the highlights of our trip. It is on a bit of a busy road, but it's certainly quiet for sleeping, and the view on the lake, mountains and cows meant it felt very peaceful.

    Cecily2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This a lovely home and a wonderful spot from which to explore Grand Isle! Lindsay and Tom are extremely responsive, helpful, and flexible, and have great tips for the area. The home is super clean, comfortable, and functional, as well as perfect for families. With a general store, gas station, and post office right across the street, you don't have to worry about forgetting something. You can also walk down to the water from their place and enjoy the gorgeous setting. We only wish we could have spent more time here!

Cozy converted artists’ studio, tucked in the hills at the end of a country road. Open the French door to views of a sprawling garden and rolling fields, alight with fireflies in the spring and bursting with color in the fall. Warm yourself by the wood burning stove after winter fun or unwind with a local microbrew by the fire pit, listening to the Whippoorwills on a summer evening. Beautiful in all seasons, this modern, comfy cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all.
This spacious studio has a new, Tuft & Needle (OEKO-TEX, GreenGuard Gold, and CertiPUR-US certified) queen-sized bed, living area with wood burning stove, kitchen and dining area (table seats four), and separate bathroom with a shower stall. (Complimentary toxin-free soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.) The couch pulls out to a full-sized bed. The space is best-suited for two people, but could sleep three comfortably. Please note, we do not provide a television, although streaming services can be accessed via WiFi if you bring your own device. The kitchen is well-stocked with a two-burner cooktop (but no oven), small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, pots and pans, plates, bowls, glassware, silverware, and cooking utensils. Organic, fair-trade coffee, tea, and half-in half are ready for your use. We use only non-toxic cleaning products. You'll have lots of privacy as the studio is a good distance (~30 yards) from the main house, which is blocked from view by a row of lilac bushes. There are high ceilings and lots of windows with views of the garden and the valley. Walk out your door to the lovely garden and enjoy the hammock in our stand of mature apple trees. Our country road is great for short walks (past stone walls and pastures), and there are beautiful wooded trails for walking or snow-shoeing just a quarter-mile down the road. We recommend four-wheel drive vehicles for anyone visiting in winter: you must take several dirt roads and navigate a driveway that is steep and long to get to the cottage. We take reservations during the dreaded mud season (as the ground thaws and the dirt roads get rutty in late March and April), but suggest four-wheel drive (again) and an adventurous spirit. For more photos, look for us on Instagram @tunbridgecottage.
We are five minutes from the village of Tunbridge, VT, home of the country's oldest World's Fair (!) and a general store that sells delicious maple creamees. South Royalton (and the Vermont Law School) is a 10-minute drive and offers the best swimming holes along the White River, a wonderful co-op for groceries, organic, farm-fresh produce, Vermont cheeses, beer and wine (including local craft brews); yummy pastries and specialty, house-roasted coffee at First Branch Coffee; and the beloved Worthy Burger restaurant and bar. The charming village of Woodstock is 35 minutes away and Quechee, with its gorge, Simon Pearce, and antique mall is 30 minutes. Easy access to I-89 is about 15 minutes away. Other attractions: - Tastings and live music at Brocklebank Craft Brewing (20 minutes) - Strafford Nordic Center (20 minutes) - Woodstock, VT: quaint, walkable village with shops, restaurants, Billings Farm, Mount Tom, Nordic Center, and more (35 minutes) - Simon Pearce Flagship Shop and Restaurant (30 minutes) - Baking classes at King Arthur Flour (40 minutes) - Dartmouth College and Hanover, NH (40 minutes) - Skiing/Snowboarding at Suicide Six (35 minutes), Killington/Pico (1 hour), or Sugarbush (1 hr 15 mins) - Mountain biking trails - Long Trail / Appalachian Trail - Vermont Cheese Trail - Vermont Brewery Tour
  • Was a blast, great area

    Gabriel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful - cozy, remote, and clean. We truly felt like we were escaping the city, and felt right at home. Kate and Sean were super responsive to our questions, and recommended some great snowshoeing trails right near their property. They provided great suggestions for things to do and places to eat - go to The Worthy Burger! I would come back in a heartbeat - it was such a lovely experience.

    Rachel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a cozy weekend getaway to unplug! Great little space, just enough for what you need. Lots of books and plenty of natural light. I absolutely recommend this spot!

    Courtney2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our little Vermont getaway and stay at Kate's place! Cottage was cozy, yet modern and had lovely eco-friendly touches! Beautiful with the snow covering all the trees and surrounding forest, felt very peaceful. Kate was a great host and provided us with plenty of recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Definitely would book again next time we visit Vermont!

    Lauren2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend at Kate and Sean's cottage. It was totally clean and outfitted well, very comfortable and quiet, lots of interesting books. Sadly, there was not much snow for snowshoeing but the dirt roads and fields were great for walking and the wood stove made it cozy. Beautiful, quiet area - fields, woods, a few cows - and S Royalton is nearby with some good food and a market. Kate and Sean were responsive and helpful and we hope to be back!

    Brad2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is a wonderful escape, and still close enough to so many quintessential Vermont activities. It is obvious that Kate takes pride in her cottage, and we thoroughly enjoyed staying. The only regret is we couldn't stay longer!

    Nicholas2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was the coziest escape from the real world. We came to celebrate our anniversary and it was everything we could have asked for and more!

  • This was our second stay at Kate’s cabin and once again we had an amazing time. So cozy and we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area!

  • Chad’s place exceeded all of our expectations. The location was perfect, private enough but not too far from a main road. The property has so much to offer in terms of scenery. The cabin was curated beautifully and we were so excited to see the loft with bean bag chairs. Plenty of space around the house to have some time to yourself and wonderful communal areas for board games and watching the snow fall. Would definitely come back!

  • Roaring Brook Cabin was exceptional it had everything you could want for a weekend away in the woods. You will not regret booking your stay here.

    Robin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chad has thought of every detail. From the welcome note to the personalized cookies and luxury bath products, everything exceeded our expectations. The house was impeccably clean and beautifully appointed. Everything was there to cook a meal in the full kitchen, or if you wanted to go out, there were several pamphlets outlining the area. We were a short drive to Mt. Snow for skiing. The beds were incredibly comfortable and plenty of space to feel like we were not right on top of the couple that traveled with us. We loved waking up to the sound of the brook in the morning and sitting on the upstairs patio enjoying our coffee. The Lovesac bean bags were such a treat for reading a book and relaxing. Only giving 5 stars because 6 isn't an option. If you are looking for a quiet, serene getaway, this is it. We hope to visit many more times in the future.

  • Everything about our stay was great. finding the cabin was easier than expected, and as soon as we walked in we where amazed by the amount of detail that every corner of the cabin is decorated with. The kitchen is equiped with everything that you need to cook simple meals, the entire space is super clean, beds are spacious and comfortable, We loved the tv room and the views from the living room. If you get lucky, the perfect location for stargazing. Communication with the hosts was fast and easy, we would definitely stay here again if we ever have the chance.

    Julian2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough stars to rate how perfect the place and our experience there was! The property is gorgeous, cozy, and it exceeded our expectations for comfort. Our hosts are thorough in their explanations, their expectations for our stay, and the best ways to spend time around town. Location-wise we were also quite pleased, the accessible options for sightseeing and for entertainment were quite close. Everything was convenient. We went for a quiet time away and that is exactly what we got. We woke up to falling snow, which was pristine and accumulated throughout the property adding to the appeal of the scenery. The driveway and paths were safe, neatly shoveled, and so well cared for. We imagined that this place is just as stunning in the summer or fall. Small personalized touches around the home welcoming us set the tone right away. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking and lounging around the home. There are warm blankets, amazing giant fluffy seats in the loft area that are unexpectedly comfortable. The whole place is delightful. The decor is warm and elegant throughout. Chad communicated all the necessary instructions from the start. We asked him a follow-up question and he answered quickly. Our phone signal wasn't great there but the Wifi more than made up for it. We didn't watch any TV but that is also available if you want as well as board games and books. In short, we can't wait to go back. Thank you for making your lovely home available to us.

    Steve2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

Rustic and Artistic Log cabin in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
In this current time of concern over the Covid-19 coronavirus, I would like to assure all my up coming and future guests that every effort is taken to thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire cabin between guests. I have also decided to block off a couple days between each set of guests to further mitigate any spreading of germs. Also understand that the cabin is private and located away from other people in a township with a small population. Due to a recent question, I would like to make it clear at the start (even though this information is elsewhere in the listing), that the cabin can comfortably sleep 11 if the configuration of single and double beds is fully utilized, and a few more could be squeezed in if the couches and roll away cot are used, BUT my prices are based upon a 4 guest maximum with an additional charge of $35 per person per night over the 4. Now on with the listing: They say, Vermont is where you find it. This Vermont Log cabin is a good place to start. Step into the generous 1700 sq ft log cabin and you are entering a work of art. Natural tree elements are incorporated throughout the building. Stone and rock ledge are woven into a most unique fireplace and bathroom. Light is the theme in this house with windows and views of all types. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with closets, one with a private bathroom and if you are feeling like Juliet, you can call down to Romeo from the small balcony twenty feet above the large slate patio (perfect for a cook out). The second bedroom could accomodate another couple or enough beds to sleep 4 kids. There is a third bedroom should you need it, with one double bed. And a fourth bed room with one double and one single bed. Stairs, balcony, loft, porches and patio are artistically designed and not young child safe. There are four seasons of fun available, whether you want to downhill ski (large or small, Stratton, Killington, West Mt., Willard Mt. all within an hour), crosscountry ski or hike (Merck Forest), bike, horseback ride or snowmobile on the Delaware-Hudson rail trail that is right at the bottom of the driveway or fish the famous Battenkill and Mettowee rivers, enjoy the numerous farmers' markets around (one right in town on friday evening), or shopping and dining in Historic Manchester, perhaps an excursion to Saratoga Springs (less than an hour away) for racetrack and casino, or from the porch simply enjoy the mountains as the setting sun turns them to purple, then go inside for a romantic fire in the fireplace. ALSO AVAILABLE: Two story treehouse. Sleeps 5. Very cool! Type in "The Hermit Trush TREEHOUSE, West Pawlet, VT" to see it on this site. Your Host is Rik Sassa, an artist, stone mason and wood worker who believes that beauty, functionality , nature and economy work the best when working together. Also, pets are part of the family, so bring them along!
  • This is a must see! The pictures don’t do it justice, so unique and special. Private setting with a stunning view. Rik is a warm, friendly and accessible host. He made it extra special by providing delicious homemade bread and fresh eggs from his chickens. We’re already planning our next visit!

    Carrie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, great personal touches throughout. Rik was a great host. Very responsive to questions. We will definitely be back.

    Kristen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect home for a winter getaway. Incredibly cozy and Rik was a great host. Will certainly be back soon!

    Rachel2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The experience that Rik has created at Hickory Ridge is truly something out of a fairytale. An architectural masterpiece. Something that anyone looking for a peaceful weekend in the woods will fall deeply in love with. The photos here do not even begin to do the cabin justice and there’s so many other hidden gems in the house and on the property that aren’t shown that will leave you speechless. The bathrooms and showers are incredibly unique and don’t even get me started on the stone bathtub downstairs. The rooms are so well decorated and the beds are the most comfortable that I’ve slept on in years. The property is HUGE and comes equipped with numerous hammocks and places to relax both inside and out and there’s multiple treehouses that are almost something out of a Disney movie. We CANNOT wait to come back!

    Jessica2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rik's place in really beautiful and unique. We booked the house with the intention of going to ski and spending little time in the property, but after seeing the house we left the ski plans behind. Rik is an excellent host he was helpful and made our stay comfortable. At Riks house you can feel a special connection with nature, the spaces are designed to mimic the outdoors and accentuate the beauty of Vermont landscapes. The house meaningful design will make anyone's visit more interesting, I will love to stay in any of Risk properties again.

    Maria2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Rik’s property is amazing and Rik is an amazing host. I definitely recommend his place and we will definitely be back

    Diana2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Boyfriend, myself, and our two small dogs had a great time at Rik’s. Beautiful area, quiet, crisp air, and crunchy leaves meant a perfect fall location for us. The house was gorgeous, thoughtful, and creative. We loved how many board game options there were, and how Rik left some essentials in the fridge and fresh baked bread at check in. A few things to mention: be prepared for ticks in mid October as there are a ton around the area, there are some flies and ladybugs around the house (one of our dogs is afraid of flies), there isn’t a lock on the front door but we felt perfectly safe, and Rik’s rosemary bread is amazing.

    Katarina2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rik's cabin is an amazing place, so much to see and explore. The cabin was clean and had everything you could possibly need to prepare some good meals. The location was great, a nice place to unwind and relax and enjoy nature. There is nearby hiking at Merck Forest & Farmland, we had a lovely dinner at The Barn. Rik is a great host, welcomed us with fresh baked Rosemary Bread that was amazing.

  • Kada's home is a great place to stay for an Okemo ski weekend! 25 minutes from the mountain, the private apartment has a mini-kitchen (w/ coffee maker, refrigerator, plates/utensils, microwave), living room area, private bath and many thoughtful touches to ensure you have all you need.

    Lindsey2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, hosts were great and very prompt with responses. A few things to note is there is not a full kitchen and the house is at the end of a long unpaved road.

    Tim2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kada & her family were great hosts! The space was very clean and well put together. We enjoyed our stay during our Okemo ski trip.

    Brandon2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kada was great from the moment of booking until checking out. Gave us some great recommendations, and it was an easy drive to Okemo Mountain to ski.

    Aj2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kadas place was perfect for a couple days of skiing! Tucked in the woods, extremely cozy, very short and beautiful drive from Okemo!

    Stephen2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming hosts as well as beautifully lit fence/path on way up the driveway. Nice parking spot right outside apartment entrance. Awesome modern/rustic decor. It was a short two night stay for skiing at Okemo which was about 25-30 min away. So nice to come back to this cozy apartment, get warm and rested for the next day . I highly recommend this apartment and host. Hope to be back again

Privately located walk-in camping sites are part of this beautiful working organic farm on a west-facing Vermont hillside. Guests will be dazzled by star-studded skies, treated to spectacular sunsets, and entertained by the two young farm cats. The farm is mosquito free but has millions of fireflies in summer. Have fun exploring. It's nature's playground at her best!!!
Four Springs Farm's Hidden Meadow tent site has it's own bridge to a secluded, partially wooded location on the property. We provide a 10'x 12' platform for your tent, a picnic table, and a fireplace. There is a centrally located wash house with hot showers. Firewood is available on the farm - $5 a day. Please DO NOT bring any with you. Tent and camping gear is NOT provided-- please bring your own! Our water is safe and very delicious. You are welcome to fill your jugs before you go.
The area around the farm is typical of the rural back dirt roads of Vermont. Neighbors are nearby but we hardly see their buildings. Four Springs Farm is not far off the interstate and 5 miles from two local villages. It's around a half hour drive from White River Junction and Montpelier along Interstate 89. Good swimming holes are found in the White River down in the valley or at one of two lakes just 20 minutes away.
  • This place was just a gem! Large farm with plenty of space for exploring. Each reservation gets their own private secluded area. Wash houses were top notch! Very clean and nice. Nature is just beautiful out there, not to mention the cat and chickens staying on the farm. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend, away in Vermont on a farm! Would definitely want to come back again!

    Jessica2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most perfect place for me to have the two most perfect days of camping and hiking. Tent platforms, fire pit, easy access and clean restrooms, cooking area, and friendly honest hospitality. I couldn't have gotten any luckier to have chosen this spot! Karma and Fate with all the right feels. Thanks and I am sure I'll be back!

    Kelli2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Camped at Jinny's place and it was perfect! Easy to find, no mosquitos, great drinking water!

    Anton2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This review is for the Hidden Meadow campsite on the Four Springs Farm. The site itself is neatly tucked in the woods adjacent to the farm. There's a level tent platform, a firepit, & a picnic table. A bath & washhouse are a short walk away, and a single armload of firewood is $7. We fell asleep under the stars to the sounds of a small stream that's on the site. Jinny has been doing wonderful things on this fully functioning farm. We were in and out but definitely recommend for a slightly rustic stay in the South Royalton area.

    Christian2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jinny's campsite and farm is a nice place to stay. It is quiet at night and dark so you can enjoy the stars. The tent site is perfectly accommodating, private and enjoyable. The bathroom and washroom with electricity and hot & cold running water are great.

    John2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just as expected! Great place to camp!

    Allie2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jinny was amazing. Check-in was very informative and the farm is really cute. The washrooms were super clean- and the water got really hot :) I also saw the cat shed super nice and cuddly. Would definitely recommend.

One-bedroom apartment with private deck on Lake Champlain. 180 feet of lake-front. Beautiful views of Mount Mansfield, Lake Champlain, and back meadow. Great area for biking, boating, swimming, paddling, and hiking. Biking distance from farm stand and Saturday farmers market. 35 minute drive from Burlington, VT. Instagram: @oneperfectacre
The apartment is attached to the main house, which is located on one acre of lake-front property. The backyard abuts a meadow, which has beautiful wildflowers periodically during the summer. The lake in front of the house is protected from the wind, making it an ideal place for swimming and paddling. We have a great area for wild birds and regularly see blue birds, loons, osprey, and the occasional eagle and kingfisher.
  • This place is an amazing find! Gorgeous views, quiet spot, very clean & stylish. Very convenient check in & out. Would definitely stay again!

    Christina2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is very private -- right on Lake Champlain with beautiful views. Ideal for those looking for a quiet get away. Communication was extremely prompt and the space was spotlessly clean. Private entrance, spacious kitchen, comfortable bedroom. Check it out!

Great communication with the hosts who went above and beyond to ensure this space was phenomenal. Definitely recommend staying here if you are coming to visit the islands. If you’re looking for a quiet space with awesome views and solitude, this is it! Look forward to coming back soon for another visit. Thanks for a great stay.

  • What a beautiful and wonderful place. Your place made us feel like we were at home but with a lake front view. The Lake view from the apartment was so beautiful. The apartment was very clean, spacious and with all the amenities one need to feel at home. Will definitely come back for a longer stay.

Come stay with Rose and Danny as we restore the barn on the Historic Kimball Dairy Farm built in 1850.. You will sleep in a bed from the original owners in a loft with exposed hand hewn beams and look out over woodlands and meadow. You can lounge on the patio which was once an old grain silo, sit around the fire dish, listen to the fountain in the koi pond, or chill on the covered deck. We have a brand new private shower and sink to wash up or do the dishes on the ground floor of the barn
There's a mini fridge, two burner infrared hot plate, Bluetooth solar speaker, USB ports, and cold well water fountain, and hard wired smoke detectors. We have hammocks to hang off the giant hemlocks and a bench at the top of our meadow that overlooks the valley. There are running trails cut through the forest on our land and we will provide you with maps and tips on the best places to hike, ride , drink, hang out or party in the area. We are outdoor enthusiasts and can direct you to some of our many local trails. Rainy day? No problem ! The State House, Vermont History Museum, Ben and Jerry's, Bread and Puppet, The Lost Nation Theater, The Vermont Antique Trail, The Prohibition Pig, Three Penny Taproom, and more breweries than you can shake a growler at are wicked close by. This is going to be fun!
  • The place is exactly as advertised! Great location and great hosts.

    Tim2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We travel a lot and stay in air BNBs 99% of the time, this has been our all time favorite one! I was a little hesitant at first because I was afraid it would be cold; however we were quite comfortable! It had everything we could have needed and more! The barn truly was a major part of our adventure in Vermont!!!

    Beverly2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Funky 1800's barn loft was so much fun for our a three night stay. This Airbnb is for the Adventurous. The barn in in North Central Vermont and Rosealie and Danny have fixed it up with eclectic cute figurines, accessories, paintings, photographs and furniture. The bed is AMAZING. We were there to hike and it was so nice to climb in a comfortable and warm bed. Rosealie and Danny went out of their way to make us comfortable. The weather turned very cold but the barn was warm and toasty. This is not your average modern facility. The charm and hosts make this an experience to remember for a lifetime.

    MaryEllen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Funky doesn't begin to describe this out of the way gem. The little quirky touches like a "Barbie" doll chandelier added greatly to the ambiance. It really is a barn being converted into livable space. The sleeping and living area is located in the barn's loft while an "indoor/outdoor" compost toilet and shower are downstairs along side a work area for the construction conversion. I had a "minor" health scare and Rose demonstrated empathy and compassion for my needs. This was special attention above and beyond what most would expect and it was especially appreciated.

    Charles2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in Rosaline's barn! It is definitely a funky barn as advertised and was great fun for the first night of "Cherie & Shirley's great adventure"! Just make sure you know what you are signing up for! The facilities are not for the faint of heart.

    Dave2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, funky and artsy. Staying at Rosaline's place is a bit like glamping. It was a fun adventure.

Walk out your door to great views of Putney mountain, beautiful sunrise and mist floating down the valley. The studio apartment has a large yard, duck pond, fire pit, and hot tub. Everything you need to cook, and relax is here for you. Roam eleven acres, visit our animals or just relax. The farm is close to a great swimming hole (5 min drive) 25 min to Stratton Mt, 40 min to Mt Snow, 15 min to Grafton Ponds Cross Country Skiing and Townshend State Park.
The basement studio is new and we think a great addition to our farm. We wanted to offer a year round rental so more people could have an affordable place to stay for the ski season as well as the summer and fall months.
  • I had such a great stay at misty mountain farm. Sharon made check in so easy and provided tons of information about the farm, animals, and local hiking. From watching the sunrise over the mountain in the morning, to stargazing in the hot tub at night, this place was a perfect weekend getaway. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Cozy farm in the mountains of southern VT. Lots of friendly animals to visit and a beautiful property! The studio has pretty much everything you need for your stay. Great location near lots of great sights and hiking/skiing/... areas! Or just a nice place to hang out and relax. Thanks!

  • This place is a quiet peace of heaven. It is conveniently located near everything we wanted to do. You will not regret staying here. Barbara and Richard

    Barbara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the studio, 3 of us. We had room to do everything, and enjoyed the property very much! Hot tub was fantastic! Animals were fun and friendly. Host is quick to reply to any messages. The farm is on a mountain, make sure you have the right vehicle if it’s winter. ( we didn’t.... lol.... we did ok, but would have been better in 4 wheel drive) If you are light sleeper, bring earplugs. Studio is in basement and you can hear sounds from upstairs. It’s worth the bit of noise..... trust me, the farm, property, and entire package is worth some slight noise.

  • Herb’s place is great and he is an awesome host! Everything was sparkling clean and he provided clear signs to find towels, linens, etc. He left us food for breakfast and plenty of firewood for the wood stove. Herb was also extremely flexible with my group’s check-in process as Vermont was hit by a huge snowstorm the day we were supposed to go and the roads were impassable. Would recommend this property to anyone!

    Elizabeth2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a pretty big group, and Herb was very accommodating! The place is gorgeous and homey, and a perfect place to spend a winter weekend.

    Alexander2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Herb’s place is incredible! No matter what you’re in the area for, it’s a great place to stay. My friends and I had such a wonderful stay there and felt so at home.

    Madeline2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Herb's house easily accommodated our group for a weekend ski trip and was located close to mountains at a great value. The house is cozy and inviting with the wood burning stove and endless book/game selections, and Herb's homemade baked goods were a nice touch to the experience.

    Dylan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Herb’s home was perfect for our family, including our dogs! Very comfortable and cozy. The wood stove was a hit with my husband. Wooded area was pretty. The house is located just past Vermont Academy in Saxton’s River. The beds were comfy and bedding was great! Tons of towels and plenty of pillows. Sectional sofa was very relaxing. Herb was communicative and made sure he left lights on for our late arrival. A sweet little gingerbread loaf in the fridge was a very nice touch. We would definitely consider the house again.

The Cluck House (360sq. ft) was converted from a chicken coop into a two bedroom guest space in the 1950’s. Today it is still used for extra sleeping quarters during the warmer months (May 15-Oct 15). Please Note: The Private Full Bathroom Is Located In The Main Farmhouse, just a short walk across the lawn. We are pet friendly and welcome guests who wish to travel with them. We charge a $20 Cleaning Fee per trip.
We have converted the front room of The Cluck House into a common space with a mini fridge, 2 burner hot plate, potable water dispenser, and a small dining table, forming a small living/dining/kitchen area. The back room is a bedroom with a queen and single bed(stored under the queen) and a bureau. Outside there is a picnic table, chairs, gas grill, fire pit, swimming pond and lots of lawn space. The Cluck House faces south with views looking up into the apple orchard. A class 4 road for walking and riding takes you into the village of South Woodstock only 1 mile away. Woodstock village is located 3 miles away via car. Also, we are very near the Green Mountain Horse Association in South Woodstock (20 minute drive). This unique little Vermont retreat is part of the Meadow Clare property which has a separate listing on Airbnb. We hope to see you this Summer!
  • Second stay at this lovely place. Hope to return soon. So nice hosts.

  • What an incredible introduction to Woodstock and the beautiful NE in autumn. Tina has the most gorgeous home and land. The Cluck House was so unique and so cozy that we never wanted to leave. Tina was so generous and warm, and what an adorable son and sweet can she has!

    Alycia2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this location. It was in the country but yet close to town. Beautiful foliage and wonderful hospitality. We hope to return in the future.

    Debra2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tina was very accommodating with our last-minute booking and Nick was so polite and helpful. The chicken coop was perfect for our stay and Tina welcomed us into her home to chat and meet her other guests. It’s the perfect spot to explore Woodstock and the rest of Vermont.

    Ryan2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed in The Cluck House on our trip to Vermont. I’m so glad we booked this as the whole experience of staying with Tina and her son Nick was one of our favourite parts of our trip! Firstly, The Cluck House is adorable and decorated beautifully. The bed was SO comfy is was a struggle to get up each morning! There’s a little sitting room with fridge, sofa, table and chairs and a two burner stove, but we found ourselves sat around Tina’s kitchen table on the main house both evenings, chatting to her and other guests. The location is super close to Woodstock and in a beautiful secluded area. Tina is wonderful and we loved chatting with her so much. Nick is a great little host too! Thank you both so much, we hope to see you again soon!!

    Annmaree2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and Nick were so welcoming! We felt so at home at their Cluck House. We came when the weather was starting to get a bit cold out (dipped down into the 30s overnight) and the Cluck House was warm and cozy. We loved our stay!

    Claire2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Cluck House is a must stay! The space is spotless, and it's perfectly decorated with country charm, which is so welcoming. Tina and Nick were fabulous hosts! They showed us all around and made us feel at home. The farm itself is gorgeous! It feels like you're far away from everything, but it's less than a 10 minute drive to town. At night we saw all the stars that we never get to see in the city, and we even saw the Milky Way! We had plenty of blankets and a space heater which kept us cozy at night. The bathroom in the main house was wonderfully clean and accommodating for us. We'd certainly choose to stay here again over a hotel. Many thanks Tina and Nick. We hope to see you again!

  • We had the most wonderful stay at Ekiah and Noella’s fabulous cabin. I could tell by the photos that the house was very stylish and beautiful, but when we walked in we were blown away at the space, the decor, and the amenities. The bedrooms are all big and very comfortable, and the living / dining / kitchen floor plan on the first floor is perfect for entertaining. The house is really close to downtown Woodstock, but far enough away that you feel like you’re in the woods and away from it all. Could not recommend this place more!!

  • Ekiah and Noella’s place is truly stunning. Perfectly decorated, so comfortable, top notch amenities, and peaceful views. We were 6 women celebrating our friends 50th birthday and we couldn’t have been happier with the place we chose to celebrate. Sitting by the fire, sipping red wine in such spectacular surroundings and comfort could not have been beat!

    Adam2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Ruth for two nights. The location was only 25 min from Mount Snow Ski resort and the mountain view was great. The barn was sparkling clean. Ruth even left snacks in the kitchen. I would highly recommend staying at the barn.

    Cody2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Sugar Barn was quaint, clean, and accommodating. Ruth was quick to respond to messages and gave great suggestions for activities in the area. The view from the room was incredible. There were games to play, snacks provided, and helpful maps in the room. Use of the fire pit was a wonderful addition to the experience. Staying in such a nice place definitely amplified the trip to Vermont!

67 acre of wilderness to explore, a calm and relaxed getaway. Bright, spacious main room and open kitchen with wood stove is enclosed by the large porch which looks over the Vermont woodlands. Right off of the large entryway, you'll find the sweeping main bedroom equipped with an open soaking tub, and a second wood stove, along with a separate entrance. Finally, there is a separate bedroom downstairs with its own bathroom (off of garage).
Surrounded by 67 sprawling acres of peaceful wooded-area, our home offers a calm and restful escape. Nestled a quarter mile from the road, a bright, spacious main room with a wood stove and view will enchant you. Kitchen equipped with granite counters, gas stove, oven, Bosch dishwasher, kettle, coffee grinder, and other great features. Huge covered deck with views and hammock swing that you can live on in warm months. The main bedroom includes 4 skylights and sliding doors, three walls of windows, a claw-foot extra long and deep bathtub, and a second wood stove. A separate guest bedroom downstairs features its own bathroom, and is situated right next to the garage that allows easy access in winter months and is large enough for an SUV. Just off the side to the right is a lovely firepit with a circle of wood stumps. You can find dried wood either in the garage or in the shed just below the garage. Our home sleeps up to 6, with two Queen sized beds, and a double pullout couch. The 67 acres of wilderness the house is positioned on are home to a great variety of wildlife. Turkeys, deer, a wide array of birds, and an even greater array of pollinators leads to excellent entertainment in the warmer months. The property itself sits in close proximity to nearby towns such as Newfane, Brattleboro and Putney. With swimming holes easily accessible in the summer, the Stratton Mountain Ski Resort is only a half an hour away in the winter. Hiking, kayaking, tubing, cross-country ski and snowshoe opportunities are myriad. Other features include washer/dryer, and 67 acres to explore and enjoy! Family and pet-friendly. Wi-fi included.
Our home is very rural. It is common to see deer, turkeys, and other wildlife. Yet, we are 10 minutes from local restaurants and entertainment, and less than 30 minutes from Brattleboro and ski resorts. Brattleboro is our metropolis, with historic movie theater, many restaurants, book stores, museum, Sam's Outdoor Store you can get lost in, and much more.
  • Great place to stay. Will hopefully be back again.

    Ray2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a remote get away for some R&R and to have some wide open space for our dog to roam and this place fit the bill. Very relaxing, peaceful and lots of great hikes just minutes away. The hardest part was leaving because we all just really enjoyed it (especially the dog!). We will definitely add this to our list of places to re-visit. Thank you for being wonderful hosts!

  • A nice, clean place with a beautiful view of the mountains!

  • What a wonderful place! It is warm and cozy and lovely. A perfect Vermont experience!

    Manon2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rented this cottage for a romantic long weekend in the winter and it fulfilled all my expectations. It was very private which was lovely, and had stunning views (would love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor space). Check in was a breeze, and place was clean and fully equipped with kitchen supplies, games, WiFi, etc. Thoughtful homey touches (candles, stocked wood for fireplace with kindling) that made it a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

    Bradley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! House was very clean and comfortable. Definitely would recommend!

    Chris2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome time spending our baby moon here. The bathtub and fires were so cozy and everything was super clean. We loved walking the land with our dogs and found town (Brattleboro) to be the perfect distance if you want some action. We would love to own a place like this if our own one day!

    Danielle2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • “The Great House” is exactly that, a great house! It was the perfect cozy, woodsy, getaway for a weekend of r&r. It has everything you need to stay in, cuddle up and enjoy the scenic view. From cooking amenities, to the multiple fireplaces, to the neat claw foot tub in the bedroom - it was all put to great use. If you’re looking to get out, we enjoyed a great dinner at the Fat Crow and spent an afternoon in Brattleboro (breweries, restaurants, shopping) which isn’t but a short drive away. We also spent a morning and an afternoon hiking about the property which we loved! The host was very communicative and the trip went with out a hiccup. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about staying here.

  • Jane's place is cute, clean and efficiently organized. The quality matress, quiet surroundings, cleanliness AND a spacious fenced in back yard for my two precious doggy companions and a private porch made me feel more like home, than being away. If you need anything out of the ordinary ( wanted a cheese-grater) Janet will accommodate you swiftly. I can highly recommend Jane's place! My doggies and I will be back next year for sure. Thank you Janet for making our stay so pleasant.

  • If you want a good small town Vermont experience (without getting cow droppings on your shoe) this is great. It’s an old building but current with thermostat controlled heat and a small kitchen that more than met our needs.

We're two blocks from Main Street and it's just a few blocks more to the local theater, art and culture, a variety of excellent restaurants, and walking trails. You’ll love my place because we're so close to town, but not on a main through street, so it's quiet here. My place is good for couples, or a group of friends, solo adventurers, traveling professionals, and for a great get-away.
The apt has a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, coffee bean grinder and all, if you want to bring, or to buy your own food. if you need other appliances, just ask. Cable and Apple TV hooked up. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us. Thank you for your interest!
Town is just a few blocks long. About 2 blocks from here is the best coffee. Mocha Joes roasts their own. There is a Food Co-op 6 blocks away, open to all, that has local, organic and all around great stuff. It is right by the Latchis movie theater. There are quite a few restaurants, in this small area. There's a bagel place in the center of town, also a small cafe called Bakery Arts, which has wonderful fresh breads and good lunches. Dinner restaurants are from the high end, Duo, to a small fish and chips place, all within a few blocks of each other and 4-5 blocks from here. There are locally owned used/consignment/antique furniture stores. There are several clothing stores, including a new and used clothing store that caters to the more hip and youthful minded dressers. Downtown has fine jewelry stores, Vermont Artisans which carries fine art from local artists, crafters, potters, and other art galleries with more eclectic, international artwork, a couple of high end, and ethnic, home furnishings stores. We also boast a couple of vinyl, and other music media stores, bookstores include eclectic, mystery and two used bookstores. There are several quirky boutiques, an ice cream parlor, a yogurt place, I think a few tattoo parlors and other interesting oddities. There are small shopping areas to the north, the south and west of town. Larger shopping centers are about a half hour to an hour from here.
  • Jaki was very quick to respond to our messages and questions. She walked us through the space right when we got in. Great space, very clean and spacious with really nice light throughout the day. It’s a 5min walk to the main street of town, very close to everything. Definitely recommend!

  • This is a gem of an apartment right in the center of Brattleboro! Very clean; spacious and with tons of character. Really great host and a great value.

    Alexander2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space that is very centrally located. We parked the car and walked downtown from the house the whole time we were there. Would definitely stay again!

    Thomas2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us stayed here for a night to break up the drive to Vermont for skiing. Jaki was very easy to communicate with and was very accommodating. The place was clean and the location was perfect - right by downtown! We would definitely stay here again.

    Caroline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment provided good value. It was large enough for two couples. It was clean, had good beds and nice kitchen. We liked the proximity to down town Brattleboro. Check in was uncomplicated. Directions for the internet etc. were plain and complete. It was also very quiet, which was surprising being so close to downtown.

    John2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki was a prompt communicator, and her space was perfect for a weekend getaway with my partner. She was polite and the house was clean and adorable as well as super close to downtown. Definitely would recommend!

    Ellen2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jaki's place was lovely. We came for my birthday weekend and it was awesome. It was super cold and snowy outside but we couldn't tell - great heat! Communication was simple and smooth as well as the house rules. Both bedrooms were sunny, nice and spacious with one at the top of some slightly steep stairs. My friend who came walked around a lot with no problem - it was super close to the downtown area, hiking, and food options. The large sheet bath towels and huge bathroom were a plus! Pro Tip: bring house slippers/ indoor only shoes since it's recommended (not required) to take off shoes to keep the floor cleaner. We always do, so no issues for us. All three of thought this was one of the best Airbnb places we've stayed.

  • Very clean, simple, and comfortable. Terrific location in five-minute's walk to the center of Brattleboro village. Rustic in a nice New England way, like a well-tended vacation cottage.

The second is a private use family room. One bathroom in the guest house serves both guests and visiting artists working in the studio. Secluded Vermont cottage next to small brook on 11 wooded acres; near Bromley Mountain Ski Resort; close to iconic Vermont villages of Pawlet, Dorset, Rupert, Manchester; along Delaware-Hudson Rail Trail hiking/biking trail. Everyone is welcome, including pets. LGBTQ and straight friendly.
Step across a footbridge over the sparkling stream to the cozy Vermont cottage on 11 wooded acres. Families and pets will love it. The all-electric house has washer and dryer, refrigerator, electric range, and microwave; no stairs. The all-season porch has large windows that look out to the stream; and a day-bed.
This is a very rural area of farms and iconic Vermont villages. Warren Switch Road hosts several slate quarries that are more than 150 years old, most still operating. The one close to my house is abandoned. Every season in Vermont is wonderful with skiing nearby in winter, hiking and biking along the Hudson and Delaware Rail Trail in the spring and summer, gorgeous "leaf peeping" in autumn. Thoroughbred horse racing in Saratoga Springs in August. The area is quiet -- maybe you'll write your novel . . . ?!
  • A great little getaway in the woods!

    Rebecca2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, peaceful space! A gorgeous brook, charmingly decorated, and one of the best kitchens I’ve had in an air bnb. I love to cook to relax and it was a great space for it with everything I needed. We had a lovely time and the host we very helpful after when I thought I left my wedding ring there. A heads up- spring in Vermont, the road was awful and we had a Prius- go around the longer way and the road was way better. Also don’t leave communication to the last minute there’s poor cell reception on the road although no problem in the house.

  • We really enjoyed spending a relaxing weekend at Lucy’s place. We had everything we needed during our stay and are looking forward to our next trip.

    Marianne2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy's cottage is such a lovely place to stay. Everything was clean and Lucy was such a helpful host. She has everything you need right in the home. It's the perfect little getaway spot and all of the local towns were quaint with a lot of cute places to visit. I would definitely recommend this place to others for a nice and quiet Vermont stay.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy's place is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. My 2 year old daughter especially appreciated the toy collection as soon as we walked in the door after a 9 hour drive. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

    Harmonie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • I grew up visiting family in Vermont and this space is reminiscent of the welcoming home I spent weeks in with family. It’s cozy, accessible, and perfect for relaxing, cooking, and as a jumping off start to many adventures the area offers. My boyfriend, pup, and I easily went from a days hike to cleaned up and ready to make a warm meal, everything you need or you didn’t bring it along is in an arm’s reach. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space with us, we will be back!

    Jordan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described, but more beautiful in person. Perfect for a few days away from the busy city life. Lucy’s had everything we could have asked for, and then some. Would love to come back sometime!

Strafford is a picturesque Vermont village. 25 min. to Dartmouth College and 15 min. to Vermont Law School. Our guesthouse is located in our backyard and is an easy walk to the general store and a quick drive to the Strafford Nordic Center. The town basketball and tennis courts are only a 5 min. walk. • By far my favorite AirBnB I’ve stayed at. Tracey was so welcoming and friendly, and the place was wonderful. An wonderful little town. I plan on coming back soon!

  • Tracey is an amazing host with such a wonderful space. Very clean, very cozy, and a great location. She gave wonderful recommendations for local attractions, was so welcoming, and really made us feel at home. Thanks Tracey!

  • A bit off the beaten path but incredibly peaceful and beautiful!

    Rick2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a quick one night stay here and wish we could have stayed longer! The space is clean and stylish. We loved the wood stove and the radiant floor heat. It was very cozy despite being so large and open. We would definitely stay here again.

    Hanna2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey started off the experience by reaching out and asking if we’d need anything and followed it up with very accurate directions. The studio is incredibly beautiful; we went in winter but I can only imagine how it would look in fall. The floors have radiant heating and there’s a small wood stove which quickly heats up the space. This would be a perfect spot to have a quiet night and enjoy the company of another person or to seclude yourself with a good book in front of the fire. Overall a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. I can’t say enough good about Tracey and her wonderful studio.

    Matthew2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot. Very clean, bright, and spacious. Plenty of parking and privacy. 👍

    Derek2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is a wonderful place to stay! It is sparkling clean and very spacious! It doubles as a yoga studio, and what a beautiful place to practice yoga with many windows overlooking the beautiful landscape and hills! It is nice to have the refrigerator and cooking is possible with a hot plate and microwave. We chose to have dinner down the road at Stone Soup, a place we went to in the 1970s! Don’t miss it, make sure to make a reservation. Tracey returned all my emails promptly, and she showed us around when we arrived, even though there are written directions. Thank you Tracey for a very special overnight!

    Nancy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

Stay in a cozy bright room in our quaint house on the border of Pownal, VT and Williamstown MA. Our house is perched on a gorgeous hillside facing the Taconic mountain range and offers gorgeous sunsets, plenty of green space outdoors, and access to many miles of walking and hiking trails. We have 8 acres to explore, a mix of woods, fields, and a creek. We are 5 minutes from the center of Williamstown, 12 minutes from the center of North Adams, and 15 minutes from the center of Bennington.
Our home has a large and well-stocked kitchen which you are welcome to use during your stay here. The kitchen and bathroom are shared. We do have a small friendly dog, and welcome your dog.

  • What a beautiful place to relax! The cabin is surrounded by trees--we had beautiful fall colors we woke up to every day! We enjoyed exploring the area's walking trails, sipping coffee and lounging on the comfy couches, and we even visited a few breweries in the area. The cozy cabin was a wonderful place to come home to after adventuring during the day. Michelle and Zeb have also stocked the cabin with many amenities for a very comfortable stay. We will be back!

  • Amazing slice of land! Cabin was cozy and well equipped. This place gives you a great sense of privacy and seclusion. It was a perfect mini vacation for us and the dogs. We will be back! Thanks for sharing this gem, Michelle and Zeb!

  • Michelle's cabin was exactly as described and shown. It was a perfect get away spot to just totally relax! The space was perfect for myself, my husband and dog. Our dog was scared to go into the house when we got there-in fact, she almost slept outside because she wouldn't go in, but by the time we went to leave, she didn't want to get into the car! The property is beautiful and we had brought camping chairs, so our favorite activity was sitting in the shade by the pond and reading. The weather was so nice that we never even sat inside! We even ate all our meals outside. We spent one day in Burlington and another day in Waterbury. We also "hiked" up the hill twice every day with the dog. It was great because she could go off leash. You certainly don't need a gym membership if you live there! We did see some deer by the pond a couple days as well as some other critters. It was just a fabulous spot to go to unplug and unwind and just sit and relax. Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful spot and we would love to be able to enjoy another summer vacation there next year!

  • Third time being here, that should tell you how great of a place this cabin is. Secluded area with nothing but nature and beautiful stars at night. Please refer to the first review of the cabin for more in depth. But overall, fantastic place as always and free wine upon arrival. Don't hesitate to book this place!

  • Great location right on the lake. Beautiful view! The cottage is cute and cozy. We felt right at home. Very clean.

  • We stayed at Jays place instead of getting a hotel to attend a wedding (that was the best idea of my entire life). It had gorgeous views and was everything we could have imagined-and more. We can’t wait to return as vacationers to take full advantage of the “renters shed” and all the activities they have made so easily available!

    Katie2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place to stay if looking to explore northern Vermont and/or Canada. The cottage is bigger in person than photos show in my opinion). Perfect little place to get away and the lake is pretty. Sunsets are gorgeous It’s about 5-10 mins from the Canadian/US border. Montréal is only 1 hour away and for kids, 25 mins away is Parc Safari in Canada and it’s a really fun zoo/amusement park! Also, Alburgh Dunes State Park is a great spot to swim.

    Jennifer2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We (sister from Australia and I from Georgia) loved being on the lake on which we grew up Jay's very comfortably furnished- inside and out- cabin was the perfect place to hang out and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The area is so much more peaceful than other areas of the lake yet there are artists' well stocked shops and some good places to eat within an hour's drive. Jay's communications were great!

  • Darren's communication and coordination were excellent, and this place is is excellent, as described.

    Ben2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Darren was a great host and the house was exactly what we were looking for! We loved being surrounded by nature and the lake was beautiful! The town itself was also such a nice retreat from the craziness of the NYC! Not to mention we were able to enjoy skiing in both Burke and Jay Mountains since they were a short drive away! Would definitely recommend this house for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway in the mountains!

    Katie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful it sits right on Crystal Lake. Clean and spacious. Perfect getaway for couples or a family get away. The view of the mountain is worth staring out all day or for sunrises or sunsets. Very pleased.

    Veronica2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Darren's lake house is one of the best! We've rented houses before but this experience was by far the best one yet! Darren certainly is a "super host"! If you have questions, don't hesitate to message him, he will get back to you. The lake house was fully stocked with everything and anything a family would need anywhere from towels, linens to all spices in the kitchen. Very roomy open living room/kitchen area with 3 good sized bedrooms. Our family enjoyed the fireplace in the living room and the pool table downstairs. Clean, you want clean, come to Darren's lake house and you will get clean!! Our family came for a long weekend and was there during a 12+" snowstorm. We went ice fishing & snowshoeing, perfect place for both. The views looking across the lake at the mountains was breathtaking, especially after the snow storm. If our family does this again we will definitely rent this place again. Thank you Darren! ~The Alex & Rhonda Hart family

My home is close to UVM, the UVM Medical Center, Larner COM & downtown Burlington. You’ll love the park-like setting; it's a quiet area, homey & nicely landscaped. My place is good for solo adventurers. This room with private bathroom and a single bed is on the 3rd floor. I have a second room listed as "Private room in Hill section condo" if you are more than one person looking for accommodation (on 2nd floor). I will happily share ideas of places to go and great places to eat.
This room is on the 3rd floor so if stairs are an issue for you please consider my 2nd floor space listed as 'private room in Hill section condo.' I have an inflatable air mattress available for a 2nd person.
  • Holly is so accommodating and considerate of her travelers needs during their stay :)

  • Everything was as perfect as it seemed online. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is excellent. Location is incredible, only 3 mins to my office in UHC. Holly is the most thoughtful, gracious host. She provided me with all the information I needed, especially information of available accommodation.

  • Amazing place and Holly is so hospitable! I arrived much later at night than the ETA I had given to Holly, but she still waited and even helped me carry my luggage upstairs. The next morning I had an interview at UVM hospital nearby, but I was not able to find any Ubers or Lyfts due to really ice roads and dangerous driving conditions. I called her phone and woke her up to ask if I can leave my luggage at her place since I had to walk there. She was so nice about it and let me keep the keys to her place and told me to pick it up whenever I was done with my interview. She was such a lifesaver! 10/10 would highly recommend. You wouldn’t be able to get this kind of a personal touch at any hotels!

  • Clean and cozy bedroom with bath. Comfortable twin bed. This is perfect for an overnight stay or 2-3 nights. Host accessible and hospitable. 3 blocks or less than 10 minute walk to downtown. Off street parking was a big plus. Would definitely recommend for single travelers looking for a clean, comfortable and quiet sleeping accommodation.

  • I had a pleasant stay at Stephen's. It was clean, comfy, and cozy, and I appreciated the amenities he provided. It was great for a short retreat. Getting there is a bit on unpaved roads so having a 4w drive helped. Hope to return again, with some fresh snow!

    Lois2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place!

    Jonathan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay if you’re planning a ski trip in that area. The place is clean and in great shape. Stephen is a great host.

    Rob2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's place is amazing. It is clean, close to many different outdoor activities, and provides the secluded location one would look for in a trip to Vermont. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in Vermont stay here!

    Alejandro2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent space that was only 35 minutes away from Stratton Mountain ski area. Communication from Stephen was quick and informative. Check-in was a breeze. The space was more than enough for the two of us. But, it will easily accommodate 4 easily. The back roads were a bit tricky with fresh snow. But, they were cleared by the time we got back from the mountain. All told, you will not find a better value if you're skiing the local mountains.

    William2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect. It was exactly as described and pictured. It was clean, the beds were really comfortable, the shower was hot with decent pressure, the kitchenette was well stocked, and the heat worked really well. Check-in was easy and low maintenance. We had a problem with the wifi when we initially arrived which I worried about at first because none of us had cell service, but Stephen responded promptly and resolved it quickly and we had no issues for the rest of our stay. We were 15 minutes or less from Okemo Mountain so it was perfect to come back and relax after a long day on the mountain. Stephen even provided extra small amenities like coffee, tea, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and even Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime on the TV. The place well exceeded my expectations for the price and location. Would absolutely recommend and plan on coming back for sure.
