  • Absolutely amazing place! Just as described, and Lance was super outgoing and nice, can’t wait to come stay again!

    Scott2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home. Lance was very nice, polite and flexible with any requests we had. Bukowski was adorable, friendly and a great addition to the experience. The house was very clean when we got there, we had no issues and really enjoyed the entire time during this stay. I recommend this spot as a good place to get away and relax with some of the best views.

    Matthew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was really nice, comfortable to be around and very helpful for what to do around Portland and other things. He even made us coffee in the morning! The views were gorgeous, especially waking up for the sunrise. If you are looking for a place to stay with a good view, and you like cats, this is the place!!

    Andres2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the place. It was such an amazing view and close to everything. Lance was super cool and a fun host. Dont forget to leave him a few beers lol.

  • This stay was great! Views are amazing! The cat was very friendly. Lance was a great host. Rain shower was awesome!

    Lindsey2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was such a great host, super helpful as well as easy to get along with. Bukowski did steal my heart<3 This by far, is my favorite place I have stayed. I'll dream about living the dream that Lance has for a long time...his taste is impeccable, especially if you are a sucker for MidCentury Modern decor. I didn't want to leave the treehouse oasis. Thanks for everything Lance!

This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. If you intend to bring a pet (or two) please message me BEFORE booking to confirm details and the pet fee. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!
  • This space is lovely and was great for our short stay, as we were mostly out and about and spent very little time at the house. Just a heads up, it is literally a renovated shed, so the experience is slightly rustic. Nonetheless, great for a shorty trip and has all the basic necessities.

    Merrigan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Andrée was accommodating in every way! Highly recommend, super convenient and close to lots of public transportation as well as adorable neighborhood!! We loved our time here and our tiny home!

With just the right amount of space for two, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv with HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.
  • Great place to stay, very clean and comfortable. Amazing allocation and great response from Jason. Definitively recommended.

    Fernando2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice clean studio apartment on a quiet street in Northeast Portland. Downtown is easily accessible by public transport. Uber was only 11 dollars. Whole Foods is a 10 minute walk from here. The amenities in the home were stocked so that cooking a hot breakfast was easy. Again everything was clean and we definitely would stay again.

    Natalie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This stylish, clean space is located in a very walkable and historic neighborhood. It’s close to shops and cafes. Easy parking. I appreciated the easy checkin. The space is very classy with a simple and open design plan. Loved the kitchen and tv space. Only stayed one night but it would be great for a longer stay. I would definitely stay again.

    Heather2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very nice and clean. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was in a great location in a very desirable neighborhood. I do want want to make a comment that I am sure that the host is already aware of. Just be prepared if you are a taller individual you may have some difficulty using the bathroom since the shower is very tiny along with the bathroom itself. Other than that, this was a very comfortable stay. Thank you again.

    Amy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible place! Great location, phenomenal value, and whomever designed it has incredible taste. I hope I’ll get the chance to stay here the next time I’m in town and in the meantime, I’ll recommend friends there during their Portland trips. Don’t hesitate on this place, it is pure magic.

    Courtney2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah and Jason's place is such a cozy spot in Portland. It's in a great location, in a quiet neighborhood.

    Dro2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must if you are staying in Portland. It is located very close to downtown and quite near public transport. The check in was simple and easy. The studio itself is very cute, large, and has all that you can need. I will be back next time I am in town, and recommend this place to everyone. Thank you Hannah and Jason!

  • Very clean! Easy check in & check out! Would recommend.

  • Great host and nice accommodations. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice linen and the room had a desk for getting work done. Place was clean, quiet, and was within walking distance to cool stuff. Very thoughtful host too. I can't sleep without a fan and they were nice enough to leave one in the room for me when I asked about this. There was also a fridge and microwave in the room. Very much like a hotel. TV as well. I accidentally took the keys with me when I left and they were so nice about it! Many people will charge you, but the host was super cool and told me I could mail the keys back to him. The room also has its own temperature control, and it was quiet. I will definitely book with them again!

    Jennifer2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great little escape. Cool neighborhood. Located on busy MLK road. Single pane windows. Place itself was spotless and cozy. Restroom and shower shared with other residents. Felt super clean. Check in process smooth. Safe(ish) to walk around neighborhood at night.

Our stunning guest house has everything you need! Revel in the luxurious, lofted queen bedroom, where vaulted ceilings & large windows deliver floods of natural light. Cook a special meal over wine in the modern kitchen, or indulge in complimentary Stumptown coffee & organic cream! Walk 1 block to bustling Division St to restaurants, coffeeshops, foodcarts, & other urban adventures! Escape to the forests of Mt Tabor, just a 10-minute walk! Enjoy privacy- guesthouse is at the back of property :-)
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Tasty & Daughters, Petite Provence, Fern Kitchen), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.

5 miles from Airport. Approx. $15 Uber or Lyft ride! Virus cleaning precautions: read description to see what measures we are taking to create a healthy stay. Cozy bedroom with warm, lively colors. This house was featured in Portlandia's 2014 season in the hilarious "Rent-It-Out," sketch! Perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Portland. We have a 5 y.o. and are in and out of the house from 8am-8pm. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am and are truly quiet.
Virus cleaning precautions: staying healthy is important to us and you are included in that! We are taking extra measures to sanitize all surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, faucet handles, anything hands would touch many times/day. Additionally and always, sanitized and fresh linens are stocked including a new duvet cover for every guest. Please take advantage of Airbnb’s more lenient cancellation policy if you are sick and need to cancel. Likewise, we promise to cancel reservations if we fall ill. Thank you for your attention and care while we all work to create a clean and healthy environment for all of us. I am pleased and excited to announce that this house has been graced by none other than Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein of Portlandia for a sketch entitled "Rent-It-Out!" More Portlandia photos coming soon... Private room with Queen size bed in my home near Alberta Arts district. Surrounded by gardens and artistic works, this home is a gallery and gathering space for special events such as concerts, yoga classes, art openings and other happenings. This is the Cully neighborhood with large, sprawling lots full of gardens and mature trees and walking distance to all of the art, food and music you desire on Portland's famous Alberta Street. Near major bus lines and MAX, this town is known for it's simple and efficient public transportation. Our neighborhood has it all though: art galleries, wine bars, sake house, sushi, Thai Food, African food, Ale houses, a plethora of restaurants, music venues, parks, shopping, art and food carts, tea houses, dessert spots, bike rental, bike paths, walking paths, unique local-made clothing/jewelry, vintage second-hand store, theatre, New Season's grocery store offering conscious, organic choices, and a couple of pizza pubs and food carts. The bedroom is spacious with about 180 sq. ft, a queen size bed, other sitting options, good light, bamboo floor, and a shared restroom just a few feet away. During your stay, you may encounter private vocal or guitar lessons (you are invited to book a private session!), concerts open to the public (and you!) or an occasional facilitated public event. We’ll make sure you get a heads-up and an invite. The house has many common spaces to enjoy such as the living room, front porch and garden in the front yard. Here you can expect a peaceful, relaxing stay or getaway. The house is clean, tidy, bright and welcoming. Currently I am showing ceramics, photographs and paintings. More to come! I am a ceramic artist and have works on display. The pictured baby grand piano is used by Portland vocalist Jonathan Brinkley to teach voice lessons from time to time. His sessions are playful, inspiring, refreshing, and benefit more than just singing. He is available should you decide you'd like an impromptu lesson!
We’re close to Alberta St., NE 42nd Ave, NE Fremont and NE Killingsworth and only a few miles from Mississippi St.. Tons to do/see/eat/play and explore in our hood!

  • Jennifer and her family were great hosts! I found her place to be super charming. The room was accommodating with just about everything I needed, and the bed was a treat. Super soft and the sheets felt like butter:) I forgot that I'd booked this room with a shared bathroom, but I honestly never had to wait to get in, so if felt more private even if it wasn't. Her home was close to everything I needed to see, and overall, I'd definitely book again if I ever return:)

In the middle of a restaurant, brewery, coffee, and Portlandia paradise! This private one bedroom apartment is located in the vibrant Hawthorne District, considered to be one of the best neighborhoods for tourists in the city! Close to everything! I am a food blogger (pizza) here in Portland, and love sharing my favorite spots in the city. See our reviews! Our guests share all you need to see before booking! :) Please inquire for dates more than 6 months out. We look forward to hosting you!
The lower apartment is fresh, clean, modern, new construction with lots of light. We welcome you as our guest(s). Enjoy a fresh cup of local coffee while sitting by the fireplace. APARTMENT: roughly 700 square feet legal Alternative Dwelling Unit (ADU) in the lower level of our 1911 Bungalow home. Spacious for solo travelers or couples, and can also accommodate up to 4 guests. The apt is under our living space, has sound mitigation, and includes its own entrance, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area. Brand new concrete floors throughout, with insulation underneath. BEDROOM: new queen bed, next to full bath, fresh sheets, blankets, luggage rack, dresser, night stands, and wall heater. • This is a gem tucked into a safe neighborhood near Hawthorne in Portland. Blaine and Taylor are gracious hosts who communicate often to make sure you have what you need and are comfortable. The bed is amazing! It is one of the most comfortable I have slept on away from home. You will find this apartment to be efficient and set up with everything you will need. Lots of welcoming special touches. We loved our five day stay there!

  • Blaine is an extremely responsive, helpful and welcoming host. The apartment is spotless, and he provides all that is needed for a very comfortable stay. The location is great! As Blaine describes in his listing, there is some noise transfer from the upstairs to the downstairs apartment...specifically footsteps. Unfortunately, I was awakened by footsteps in the middle of the night, even though I know that folks upstairs where trying to be quiet. That said, if you are sensitive to noise, as I am, this may not be the best place for you to stay. Blaine does provide a white noise machine. My son, who slept on the pullout sofa in the living room, found these to be very helpful.

  • This Hawthorne Haven is amazing. So close to the action in Portland for food and fun. Very chic and stylish place to keep you cozy. Just a Uber or Lyft to any hotspot and the “Haven” is nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Prefect place to stay if you are new to Portland! 5 stars!

  • This was a great space that was very clean and just as advertised. The location was perfect, parking was a non issue, and it was very quiet despite being in a densely populated area.

    Jordan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely adore this place! My partner and I came in town for the weekend and never wanted to leave this space when it came time to follow our own itinerary. It was so clean, smelled great, is super and so freaking cute! Blaine provided great accommodations/complimentary items with the space. I love that they provided a manual for the entire place and its gadgets along with recommended places to site-see and to eat; it was very helpful and much appreciated. I hope to stay here for all my visits back to Portland if I can. I was not in a hurry to leave.

  • The space is so cute and in such a great location! I loved the simplicity and modern look to the studio and also it was sparkling clean. Bed was comfortable and the mini kitchen was a nice touch, although we didn’t up using it. Definitely recommend this airbnb!

  • This is a small but squeaky clean apartment conveniently located near multiple transportation options in a quiet neighborhood on Portland's northwest side. The unit is very functional with all the essentials, comfortable bed under a sky light, kitchen, spacious bath and a remotely controlled heating unit. The apartment is in a leafy residential area but close to cafes, bars and restaurants; there's even a walk-in clinic in nearby. Needless to say we enjoyed our stay.

  • We had a fantastic stay! We had no issues with the apartment or it’s location. It was a perfect stay. Also- the apartment is well decorated and simple. I felt like I was in an IKEA showroom 😊

A quiet, cozy bedroom & a bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. There is an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedrooms, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific ramen shop, a pizza joint, two coffee shops, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.

Our home is beautifully situated across from a quiet park. We are located just a couple blocks walk to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and bus stops on trendy Hawthorne and Division streets.
Our one bedroom, 500 square-foot basement apartment is lovingly decorated in the Northwest Style with touches of Scandinavia. The apartment has separate entrance for your privacy. The bedroom has a queen bed with cozy, fluffy featherbed comforters. The living room has a sofa that converts to double bed with bedding provided. We also have a queen futon available. We have a little kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The bathroom has a bath/shower combo with all the essentials provided. We have a television that picks up a few stations, but we do not have cable. We use Eco cleaning products to keep the apartment clean, without compromising your health. Our location is ideal for foodies who want to walk to popular restaurants on SE Hawthorne and SE Division streets. We are directly across the street from a park. The Hawthorne bus (#14) is just 1.5 blocks away and will get you downtown within 10 minutes. We also are walking distance to grocery stores, movie theaters, shops, breweries and pubs. Our neighborhood is quiet at night, so we ask that there be no noise after 10:00pm. We are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise family (up at 5:00am) so you may hear us above in the morning.
We are ideally situated between the popular Hawthorne and Division streets. We are 2.5 blocks from the nearest bus stop and are walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters. Best of all we are located right across the street from a park. There is ample parking as well.
  • Thanks for having us!

  • This place is a steal. It’s in a perfect location sitting just 2 blocks from Hawthorne, where local shops and public transit stops are. Super walkable area. She has a hair dryer in the bathroom as well as a drawer full of travel sized toiletries for you to use. She has even put a first aid kit in the bathroom, which just really shows you how much she has thought about her guests! For out-of-staters reference, we were able to go from the Airport to the Airbnb with ease using public transit!

  • This is a really great little space in a perfect location close to lots of bars, restaurants and shops and only a stones throw away from downtown. Jennifer is a great host who was quick to respond to any messages and I would definitely stay again!

    David2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • super comfy and cozy little stay! very convenient location with a quiet park across the street.

    Liberty2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s place was clean, quiet (we barely heard anything from upstairs), and close to mass transit and numerous shops and restaurants. Checking in and out was a breeze. The bed was very soft and the convertible sofa was firm, which was a nice contrast. Extra towels, bedding, and supplies were at hand. The only thing to note is the mirror in the bathroom; both my sister and I barely clear 5 feet and so we could not utilize the mirror without a step stool.

    Lidia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

FEATURED IN DWELL and SCHOOLHOUSE ELECTRIC. A gorgeous farm-setting just 15-minutes from downtown Portland; located on stunning Sauvie Island - a large river island and wildlife refuge - we are an organically-minded small farm and creative space. We love all the wild flora and fauna, and take great joy in wild spaces. A biking, birding, and aesthetic retreat from everyday life, we hope that each guest leaves feeling relaxed and inspired. The guest suite is modern, bright, and comfortable.
We have a gorgeous 300 square-foot guest suite (adjacent to our main house where we live) called "Tu Casa". It is located on our 7-acre+ farm on Sauvie Island - 10 miles from Downtown Portland, Oregon. Tu Casa is modern and bright and private, bursting with clean lines, lots of natural light, and a serene setting. You will have your own private bathroom, queen bed, small kitchenette for making cups of tea/coffee and light food prep, and lounge area with table workstation. There is also a covered patio with table and chairs just outside your french doors for your use alone. You can expect gorgeous views from every window and space on the property: an unreal view of St. Helens and the whole Cascade Range on a clear day and the surrounding orchards, vineyards, migrating birds, and farm animals everyday (we operate a sheep and alpaca fiber farm and both herds are right outside your windows). The sheep are known to linger right outside Tu Casa, making for a wonderfully sweet experience. Please do keep in mind that we have a hound dog and two full-of-joy toddlers, so some noise is common off and on between 8am-7pm, especially. There is also a rooster you can hear in the distance in the early mornings. If you are seeking true silence, our space is likely not a great fit.
In July and August, we have our upick blueberry season. You can pick to your heart's delight. We also usually have a load of farm fresh veggies and fruit for sale from our farm stand (onsite) from June 15-October 1. There is also a fabulous (packed on the weekends) sandy river beach about 15 minutes drive on island. So amazing. In Fall, three farms on the island have pumpkins, apple cider, and other Fall related stuff. Winter brings migratory birds, rain, and a real hunkering down feeling. Fog, fog horns, and the farmers sleeping in make it our second favorite season here. Whiskey by the fire and books. Spring is abound with bird watching, planting, and gorgeous sunrises. Biking happens year round.

Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored by community artists with old growth barn wood, upcycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located in the heart of a charming restaurant and boutique district; 3 blocks to SE Hawthorne and Division. 15 minutes the the airport, downtown and convention center. 4 bus stops and rental bikes within 3 blocks, ample free street parking. Book The Magic House in conjunction for 10 people.
Built with Love! We are permitted by the city of Portland to host 10 guests at the Magic Barn and The Magic House, which are adjacent. Please feel free with questions to see if we can accommodate the needs of your large or small group: The Magic House Link: https://airbnb.com/h/themagichouse Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. The Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio for fifteen years. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were sculpted right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked old shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji turned it into his sculpture studio, and then purchased the house in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anyone, including self-employed artists! Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house and building his career as a fine art sculptor. Todji and Gisele painted the outside of The Magic House and Magic Barn with seven colors over three summers. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure, and Gisele's beautiful painting! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. Hobie is your onsite host and he He is a novelist and professional writer. He is available to both respect privacy and also assist during your stay. We support the local art community by giving cleaning and maintenance work at the Magic House to community artists. Thank you for reading our story, we hope to host you at the Magic Barn!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. • The Artist’s Loft is adorable and exactly what we needed, in a great location to boot! The kitchen area was very well appointed, but we were only in town for a single night so we didn’t utilise it as we would have liked. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was bigger than expected. Overall, the space is understated and minimal in its decor - a good thing for us since we’re definitely not “a thousand pillows on the bed and nicknacks everywhere” people. The vaulted ceiling in the living area made the whole space feel light and roomy. Being walking distance from Alberta Street was a blessing we didn’t know to expect - it’s a great stretch of shops, restaurants, and pubs. Think the Portland version of Magazine Street in New Orleans (not touristy, amazing food, and so much fun!). We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Portland. Thanks!!!

  • Would absolutely recommend staying here. Stylish space, incredible location and clean home.

    David2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful. It's a small fully equipped house with a modern style and a hot tub I didn't have a chance to enjoy.

    Thierry2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Rob & Sylvia were prompt and professional in their communication. The place was clean and newly built - we particularly liked the hot tub

    Erik Brakstad2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very neat and clean space. Loved seeing the artwork on the walls. Host responded quickly when we requested to use the hot tub and made sure everything was ready for us (even though I chickened out because it was freezing outside). Close ride to downtown and would definitely stay again. Parking spot requires talented parallel parker, or you could just park on the street.

Nestled in the private backyard of our family home, a neighborhood hub. The round, rustic, romantic MudHut hides in a secret garden overlooking the St. Johns bridge and sparkling river, near Cathedral Park, Forest Park, downtown St. Johns, canoe and hiking trails... Firepit, permaculture gardens, loaner bikes, community life, view!
Our hut was handbuilt by family, friends, and community with great love and serves as a guesthouse, homeschool hut, sauna and sanctuary. Wood-heated and candle-lit, it's a tranquil, rustic sleeping space. I recommend staying two nights for an immersive experience in the relaxing atmosphere. We are makers, artists and parents, and our land is a lively reflection of our creative life, often with projects brewing and children playing. A humming hive in a hidden wood on a bluff above the river.
We're in St. Johns, Portland's northern-most neighborhood and a small town of its own with a strong community identity here. Many families here trace their roots back to James John, the pioneer founder of St. Johns who is memorialized all over the neighborhood. Downtown St. Johns is a few blocks away, with plenty of restaurants (Thai, vegan, soulfood, chinese, pub grub, pizza, deli, breakfast, coffee & gelato), an old movie theater and shopping (lots of vintage). Cathedral Park, three blocks away, is gorgeous and photogenic with access to the Willamette River and the awesome overhead presence of the gothic St. Johns Bridge that you can see from the hut. We're also close to a lot of natural areas for urban hiking and paddling. Forest Park, full of trails and old growth forest, is right across the bridge. Just north of here is Kelley Point Park, the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers; Smith and Bybee Lakes, a wetlands for birding and paddling; and Sauvie Island, with beaches, farms, nurseries, hiking, fishing, & birding. We're on the Pacific migratory fly-way, so lots of raptor action around here. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons and hawks swoop by regularly.
  • A wonderful stay! There were too many cute touches to count, and it didn’t take long for it to feel like coming home when I opened the door of that cute little hut. Hospitality was phenomenal, ivy is an interesting and very kind person. Very worth the long drive !

    Angelia2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • the mud hut was more than a dream.. it was such an amazing experience and perfect stay for me and my boyfriends first time in oregon!! the views were an extra plus!!! before arriving i was very clueless on how to start a fire so if you’re new to that as well, ivy is more than willing to complete your coziness with a tutorial on how to start and keep a fire going all night. truly, i am sad to leave but i know a piece of me has stayed there forever!! thank you so much for this beautiful stay, and we hope to stay with you in the future!!

    Alyzabeth2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • This places is wonderful!!! The bathroom is not right in the hut but close. You do have to step outside to get to it but it was totally fine. The hut is so sweet, romantic, intimate and along with the hot tub we had such a relaxing stay here. The candle lights are beautiful and all the personal touches in the hut are just so incredible. 10/10 would stay again.

    Samantha2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Magical. This is more than a place to stay, it's an experience. Ivy was a great host. The place warmed up very quickly with the little wood stove. The bed is not sprung, which I really like. Good veiw of the bridge from the hot tub. The sound of the trains going by adds a lovely ambience to a special experience.

    Alistair2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space is amazing! I wasn’t expecting to feel so relaxed at an Airbnb! I will definitely be back and thanks for the travel tips Ivy.

  • This place is truly magical. I felt like Frodo arriving to Rivendell after a long journey to be greeted by loving hospitality and a cozy and warm place to rest my head. The cats roaming about are super cute and lovey too.

  • Great hospitality, Rustic mud hut, hot tub, great scenery for photography, fire pit, covered lounge area, and super close to modern Portland City area but tucked away from the busyness of the city. 6/5 stars...

Lovely 2 br. cottage nestled beside a pond w water feature. Kitchen, open sleeping loft with skylights, bath w shower and washer/dryer. Lots of natural light. Can accommodate an entire family comfortably. Private entry on lg. lot through gated backyard.
Nestled in the back corner of a large lot under the canopy of a beautiful mimosa tree, this private cottage offers a full kitchen with sit-up bar, a full bath with a washer/dryer, and a sleeping loft with crow's nest. It's perfect for a couple, two couples, or a small family.
We are located in a sweet older neighborhood in inner SE Portland, built around the turn of the century. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store. And all of this just 15 minutes from downtown.
  • Great host and an amazing space that is within a short drive of downtown. Spacious enough for four people with a great kitchen, living room, bathroom, and loft. I would definitely recommend this place.

*This is a private room with a private bathroom in a townhome. Living room, kitchen, and deck are shared spaces.* Impressive city views from the living room and deck. Within walking distance: Downtown, public transportations, PSU, OHSU, NCNM, Farmer's Market, Portland Art Museum, Waterfront Park, Food trucks. By car, hop on a freeway pointed in the direction of your choice with equal speed.
Spacious guest room with private bathroom. King-size Tempurpedic bed. Hardwood floors throughout. Gorgeous view of downtown, river, and mountains from the living room. Free, on street parking. Parking permit for one car is provided during your stay. My children aged 11 and 8, and I live in the home. We are clean, polite, easy-going, and respectful of your space. Our bedrooms are downstairs while the guest room, guest bathroom, living room, and kitchen are upstairs. The guest room is near the main entrance for easy access. We have a lockbox so you can check-in anytime at your convenience. You are welcome to drop off your luggage before check-in time. Just let me know what time you are planning to come and leave luggage in the living room. Our neighborhood is safe and peaceful, yet so close to downtown. Easy access to public transportation, and all major freeways. Public transportation--bus and Max are about 0.25 mile down the hill. Street car is about 1 mile. Please note: 1. On weekdays, we start our day and head to school around 7am. Guests will likely hear the front door open and close, but the noise will be minimal. Then, it will quiet down after 7:45am. 2. To get to public transportation, it will require some walking down the hill. Getting home from the public transportation will require walking...uphill. 3. There are 2 ways to walk to public transportation/downtown: - A 200-step staircase near our house. This will take you to SW Broadway Street. This puts you on Portland State University's downtown campus and is the fastest way to get to Max (light rail), bus, and the rest of downtown. - A short walk through a gated community to a 50-step staircase. This is the best way if you don't like the stairs so much. This will get you to another part of the PSU campus and the beautiful South Park Blocks. You can continue walking to catch the Street Car (light rail) on SW 10th and Market. 4. The best way to get to my place from airport is to take Taxi, Uber or Lyft, since it is not convenient to walk up the hill with luggage. The cheaper option is to take Max from airport ($2.50 per person) and get off downtown, then Uber or Lyft to my place (about $6). Once you have arrived at the front door, there are no steps. You can roll you luggage right into the room.
Southwest Hills neighborhood is a great mix of suburban and urban living. Many of the homes are built on the side of the hill and are cantilevered over the forest floor below. As many of the streets in this area wind through the tree-lined forest, this makes the Southwest Hills an interesting place to drive, and a serene and beautiful place to live. From my place, you could enjoy a panoramic view of downtown Portland, and on a clear day it is possible to see Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Saint Helens in the distance.
  • Joy makes everything super easy for the guests upon check in. That view is insane ! Day & Night. Everything that you could need is provided & the bed is comfy. It's a beautiful stay that i'm glad I treated myself to. Just a note, the street is a little hidden as it is a sharp turn easily missable at night.

    Michael2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 recommend! Joy was awesome and her space is a great value, just a 5-10 minute walk to the train stop. She offered local knowledge to us about food spots and hikes.

Bright and clean private bedroom just one block off of Mississippi St. Thousands of happy guests! Dozens of shops, bars, restaurants and things to do just outside your door!!! Minutes from downtown via bike, light rail or car. Easy access to/from the Airport too! Six years in and our five star rating is going strong!
This home is clean, quiet, creative and perfectly situated for an amazingly rich and convenient Portland experience. With a comfortable Queen bed (fits 2), wood floors, ample closet space, garden views and adjacent shared bathroom, you'll feel right at home. Please note that we ask our guests to limit bathroom visits to 15 minutes (especially in the morning) as this space shares a bathroom with an additional Airbnb room. Full access to kitchen, living room with fireplace, and landscaped garden patio with bubbling fountain and seating. The home is full of plants and art from around the world. No pets/Allergen free! The Mississippi St. district is the place to be! Amazing restaurants, food carts, bars, breweries and stellar music venues are literally a minutes walk from the front door. NOT an easy place to get bored! Parking is easy in this safe neighborhood. The MAX light rail system has a stop just minutes away (walking) that can shoot you downtown or drop you off from the airport. Please note that our close proximity to the I-5 freeway does provide some background noise (not really noticeable inside the house). PLEASE NOTE: Arthur and Adam live in an adjacent building on the property. Naomi is our house manager and good friend - and lives on the top floor of this home.
Portland's Historic Mississippi District is definitely where you want to stay when visiting the city. A gorgeous and funky stretch full of great shops, award-winning restaurants, an incredible music venue and amazing bars with outdoor patios and inspiring craft cocktails. SUPER easy to get to other parts of the city from here too!
  • Charming neighborhood. Within walking distance to plenty of amenities.

    Steve2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Arthur's place was fantastic. Ideally situated near downtown. They were gracious hosts and had all amenities that you would expect from an expensive hotel room. All in all I had a restful and comfortable stay and would highly recommend their place to anyone coming to visit Portland.

    Adil2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a block away from one of the coolest and most delicious neighborhoods in Portland. Seriously, the three blocks south of this house are absolutely crammed with amazing places to eat and drink, and they are all operated by kind people who care about genuine hospitality. There's even a cool little music venue! The room itself was sparkling clean and entry/exit was easy and straightforward. I had a great experience.

  • Awesome spot! Overall I recommend it. If you are an uber sensitive sleeper, note the floor boards creek a bit. Personally, I didn’t find this a big deal. Staying here was so nice, convenient and adam/arthur were awesome about letting me keep their bags all day after check put.

Relaxed + modern one bed basement space. Bright + spacious with a handmade Portland touch. Comfortable for two, it's a great home-base for the traveler wanting to explore PDX! Located in charming Woodlawn neighborhood. Near the park, bars and bus lines.
Every detail was thought, planned and carefully considered. We value high-end, conscious design. Our motto is maintain, reclaim and sustain. All of the exposed wood is original to this 100 year old home! It's a great, peaceful place to crash at the end of the day. A plush queen sized bed, a huge doorless walk-in bathroom (ie. divided by a wall), and a tiny but efficient footprint were top priorities when we made this place. The space is stocked with all the pots/pans and plates to make a nice meal at home. Its always a shifting art-installation, so don't be surprised if the art in the listing photos change. We like to collect art and objects during our travels.
We're one block from 2 major bus lines (the 8 goes to downtown) and our neighborhood market, P's & Q's. 3 blocks from Woodlawn park + 5 blocks to our neighborhood hub: breweries, dance hall, coffee shop and restaurants. Woodlawn is a great area and closely located to Alberta Arts District, Mississippi and Kenton.

Take a trip back in time in a historic 1881 sailor's hotel! Lovingly restored former boarding rooms have been updated with modern amenities, including free ultra-high speed wi-fi, reading light and charging outlet, in-room sink, and Shared Baths.
The historic guest rooms have been restored to be just as you might have found them in the 1880's, only more comfortable! Each room has ultra-moden heating, cooling, and fresh air, along with gorgeous views of historic Old Town Portland. Custom-built beds provide generous storage and built-in lights and electronics charging. Sinks in each room make it easy to get ready for a night out, or a big day adventure. Plentiful shared baths are never more than a few steps away.
Old Town/Chinatown is the historic heart of Portland. It's our Ellis Island, where immigrants of all stripes first came ashore, just a few blocks away at the river. Now you'll find festivals, the Saturday Market, music shows and clubs, restaurants, art galleries, and shopping, all within a few blocks of our location.
  • Very cool building.. it has been thoughtfully updated to provide comfort and still maintain its former identity as a lodging house for sailors.. rooftop deck is nice spot for a thought and a glimpse of downtown. The cafe in the lobby is quaint yet it has the essentials, artfully crafted. I would recommend The Society Hotel in Oldtown, PDX.. and I will stay again in the future. Cheers

  • The hospitality and atmosphere here was awesome. I booked a trip to Portland last minute and so glad I found this place. Great location, I could walk pretty much everywhere I wanted to go in the city. Right next to the water and the rooftop view is pretty killer as well.

  • Very clean, comfortable rooms. Quick walk over the bridge to Moda Center area. Will definitely stay here again.

Covid-19 Update: While we have always had good cleaning practices we are working extra hard to insure that our cottage is clean and disinfected between each guest. Be assure, that should you chose to travel, every door handle and knob will be wiped down! City of Portland Permit # 18-175497
The guest cottage is in a quiet neighborhood in SE Portland. High ceilings make this studio airy and bright. We think of it as a perfect hotel room without the hotel. The small galley kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. There is a full bathroom with tub and shower. Parking is available in the driveway, we leave it open for guests. The cottage stands on its own making it perfect for coming and going as you please. There is one queen sized bed, but we can put a twin mattress on the floor if you are traveling with a child. Washer and dryer are available in the main house with arrangement. The cottage is a non-smoking space.
This is a quiet neighborhood. The cottage is a mile from Woodstock which has good coffee, a bakery, fish market, some restaurants and grocery stores including New Seasons. It is four blocks from the Springwater Corridor bike path that leads to Sellwood and eventually the river and downtown. Reed College is 2 miles away through a nice neighborhood full of trees and interesting architecture.
  • We loved this place! It’s was super comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, super sweet touches around the place & it has everything you need. We will definitely stay there again.

  • Benedicta is a warm and friendly host. Her place is incredibly clean, the furnishings are stylish and comfortable, and the check-in is really simple. While I didn't use it, there is also a nice kitchen space where a guest could cook a simple meal.

Located between three great neighborhoods (Mississippi, North Williams, Alberta), and in the heart of urban biking, come and stay at my 1984 Bluebird Bus Conversion, a fully equipped independent living space with a private bath and basic kitchenette.
Lady Bluebird is a 1984 Bluebird Bus that has been converted into an RV, a fully private unit. The bus has 320 square feet of comfy living space, including a sitting area with a sleeper sofa, eating area and kitchenette, a full bathroom and a sleeping area. The bed is queen size. The sleeper sofa will accommodate 2. I also have twin sized air mattress available for use. In summary, the bus sleeps two comfortably, but could accommodate 4-5 people :-). In addition to size, this is a bus! As the pictures indicate, the space has a fairly open floor plan! If you are fiercely private, you may find this space a little too cozy. Additionally, the bus can be hot on hot summer days and chilly when it is cold outside. To combat the elements, there are multiple fans and a portable air conditioning unit in the sleeping area to ensure your comfort when sleeping and relaxing. During the winter, there are three portable heaters and a wall panel to cozy up the space. Additionally, you can enjoy sleeping on a heated mattress pad and under a heated blanket. A great excuse to have an extra long snuggle too. <3
Piedmont is a very quaint residential neighborhood filled with tree-lined streets and old craftsman homes, and located equidistant to many growing hot spots in NE/N Portland (Mississippi, North Williams, Alberta District, Dekum). Several grocery stores and lots of local coffee shops are within walking distance. A lovely community rose garden is at Peninsula Park, just a few short blocks down the street. You can also access to several major bus routes and designated bikeways from this neighborhood. It boasts the best that Portland has to offer (my unbiased opinion ;-))
  • The bus is so much fun! It is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood close to Mississippi and with easy access to I-5. Definitely a magical, unique stay :). Very cozy!

    Starr2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so cool- it took me back to where I grew up. The host put a lot of thought in keeping it true to its roots of being a bus- but modern and comfortable as well. :)

    Waukanita2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an unique experience!!! We loved our stay so much, it was very inspiring to see minimal living style. And the interior decorating was so beautiful and comfortable, we felt cozy the entire time there. We definitely be back.

  • It was a privilege to stay at Adam and Arthur’s cute little abode! A great location/ neighborhood where I was able to walk to many fantastic shops and restaurants, AND I was able to walk to my tattoo appointment down the street which I couldn’t have asked for such an accommodating experience for my trip! To top it off they were extremely patient and responsive to my silly questions, needless to say I was very pleased and recommend this stay to anyone interested in visiting the greater Portland area! Thank you again Adam and Arthur!

  • Wonderful place with excellent value! I will say that if you are over 5’6”, you’ll have a great time in the shower.

    Alicia2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan’s place provides a lot of space and conveniences very close to several PDX bus stops. The washer and dryer are in the lower level which is the one I rented. I was there in July/August so the lower level apartment was nice and cool. The neighborhood is peaceful and it is a quick walk to Rite Aid, McGraff’s Fish House, Dollar Store etc. I utilized TriMet for many trips to Oregon City, Sellwood, and Portland. I was amazed at how many transit trip options were within a short walking distance — this is not a one-bus line location, so use your Smartphone to find the quickest trip.

Cute little Tiny House! It used to be our boys' fort when they were young, now it is a comfortable little retreat for adventurers exploring Portland!
Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are steep stairs, so please take that into account ~ if you have joint pain, etc. this might not be the best choice of places to stay... The QUEEN size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage as well as complimentary muffins. There are laundromats in SE Portland and sometimes I am home to help facilitate laundry getting done on premesis but I cannot guarantee I'll be there to arrange for that. Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees and some berries when in season. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, the 52nd & Foster street Food Carts and much more. The # 2 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown. The TRI-MET app or website is easy to use & can help you get you anywhere from the airport, to downtown, to Powells Books, The Chinese Garden, and so on.
South Tabor Neighborhood is a quiet eclectic little neighborhood with many avid gardners, friendly neighbors, and gobs of dog lovers. We have community get-togethers, work parties, and holiday celebrations! If you are used to neighborhoods where no one knows each other or even speaks to each other this is definitely NOT the neighborhood for you :-D
  • Fantastic location and very cute and charming

Stay in a lovely remodeled basement apt within a 1905 home in the Historic Irvington area! Suite includes: 1 bd (queen), 1 ba, living room (with full-sized ikea sofa sleeper) and kitchette/laundry room. Walkscore 87, public transit 71 and biking 98! All are welcome. This unit is a great fit for those out and about during the day, but who want a quiet place to come home to at night! Due to COVID-19, we’re also taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations.
The lovely basement level 1 bd/ba suite is fully permitted with the City of Portland! Pros: -Completely private due to the separate entrance and zero shared common areas. -Ample parking. -Beautiful tree lined streets and historic homes. -Blackout curtains in the bedroom. -More space than a single room. -We sleep two floors up, so noise at night isn’t an issue. -Walking distance to cafes, restaurants and grocery stores! -We are also walking distance to the Convention Center (~15 min) and the Moda Center (20 min). -Central location means low fares for taxis. Biking/walking is a great option too. -Self check-in using electronic code operated entry will give you added flexibility to arrive at any time. -Responsive and welcoming hosts. :-) Cons: -Not the best for daytime occupation due to the potential for sound transfer from above. If I were planning on napping during the day, I’d consider a quieter option. -Low ceilings make it less accessible for tall folks. I’m 5’8 and never need to duck throughout the basement suite. Not recommended for those over 6 ft. -Our kitchen is above your bedroom. There is extra-soundproofing throughout the suite, but sight creaking may be audible from above as early as 7:00 am. -We are near downtown and public transportation, but please also realize Portland struggles with homelessness like many large cities. It isn’t as visible in the Irvington neighborhood, but upon leaving the neighborhood to access public transportation on arterial streets, you may see a homeless individual. They are not aggressive and we’ve had no complaints of negative encounters since we started operating in 2014. -The floor in the living room has a slight depression due to settling of the foundation in this historic 1905 home.
We are on the edge of the Irvington neighborhood which is formally registered as historic and 'amazing' (not really the latter). All the homes within the Irvington area itself, with a few exceptions, date from the early 1900s or late 1800s. We are a ~15 minute walk to the Oregon Convention Center and have had many guests stay attend events and avoid renting a car. It is very centrally located. Our guests are able to walk to the streetcar stop which can take you to the Pearl District in Downtown Portland. We are biking distance to almost all the "fun" neighborhoods such as the Alberta Arts, Mississippi and Hawthorne districts. There are cafes, restaurants and a non-profit brewery all within a 15 minute walking radius.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Ted’s home. Very easy to check-in. Communication was great! Highly recommend

    Erika2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy clean place, felt safe, lots of local tips in their instruction book and a myriad of Portland magazines, very communicative host, would stay again!

    Kayla2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay so we were reminded how much we liked it the first time. Quiet, spacious with doors between rooms, plush towels, plenty of hot water, good bed, snacks, excellent coffee, and though it’s at basement level the lighting is nice and bright. We felt so comfortable and welcomed down to the chocolates on the pillows.

    Sharon2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot, easy access to downtown. If Ted will have me, I'd definitely stay again.

This bright studio in the heart of Portland's historic Irvington neighborhood is not to be missed. Tree lined streets with big beautiful homes nestled in the heart of North East Portland. Comes with a full kitchen, a private bathroom, Wifi, cable tv with HBO, and a platform Full Bed with access to a hot tub in the back yard! Plus! Plenty of free street parking in front of our home if you have rented a car. A home for every travelers needs.
Arts-and-crafts architecture, handmade redwood tables, and a minimal but comfortable style give this bright studio a true Portland feeling. We always keep the kitchen and the bathroom stocked with the essentials. There is a table with high chairs in the kitchen, perfect for eating a home cooked meal. The Full bed lies under a North facing window, letting in lots of light throughout the day. The apartment is on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen. After a long day out on the town, you’ll come home to an always ready hot tub in the backyard, a plush full bed, a big TV, and blazingly fast Wi-Fi.
  • Great location in a beautiful neighborhood, half mile walk from coffeehouses, bars and restaurants, 30-minute walk to downtown. Easy access to this quiet room. Comfy bed and cool it has hot tub, though I didn’t use.
