  • The place is thoughtfully designed. We had everything we needed and then some. I was about to run out for shampoo and conditioner since I forgot mine, but my kiddos pointed out that there was some. Thank you for that!

  • Great little place in Bucksport! Close to downtown, and the place is thoughtfully and stylishly updated. Very clean!! Only thing, not even a complaint just a side note: shower is small, so if you're pregnant or need more space, just be aware it's a little tight.😂 We have no complaints, it was a great stay!

    Ericka2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jill's place was very cozy and clean and was a nice place unwind. There was a full kitchen and well furnished living room with soft blankets. I would recommend it, especially for the price!

    Ian2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jill was an outstanding Host. She immediately confirmed my reservation. Then providing her contact info and all the instructions for getting into the Air B & B. She was immediately available to talk on the phone to answer any questions we had. Jill did everything she could to accommodate my stay. The house was perfectly clean and looked just like us shown in the photos.

We welcome you into our tiny house - a renovated ice fishing shack on our organic farm. We are 30 minutes from Bangor, 30 minutes from Ellsworth, and 45 minutes to Acadia National Park. Hiking trails, organic gardens, pristine lakes, and beautiful views right outside your door. This is rustic! Solar powered and wood heating. If you like camping, this is a place for you.
This small home has a big heart! Come stay on our organic farm in the privacy of your own tiny house. There are hiking trails right outside that lead up and around the Bald Mountain, several beautiful swimming lakes within driving distance, blueberries and apples right outside your door during their season, and abundant wildlife and livestock to admire. The cabin itself is cozy and comfortable and is glamping at its best.
Dedham is a small town in rural Maine. It is unique because of its lakes and hills between Bangor and Ellsworth. It's fantastically close enough to various shopping places and attractions, yet far enough from the bustle of the town center to offer quiet nights and beautiful, rural sights.
  • A very cute, small stay. Perfect for a night on your way to Acadia or downeast Maine.

    Mara2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sadie and her family are lovely and sweet. I love being on Mountain Foot Farm and seeing all the animals. A unique glamping experience, on this working farm!

  • We loved our stay! The place was clean and cozy, the hosts were friendly and helpful, and the animals were very cute. Absolutely charming place, would recommend to anybody passing through the area

  • This place is great for people who want to enjoy the outdoors of Maine, but do not want to commit fully to camping. The hosts are very welcoming and accommodating (helped us with the wood stove). What you see in the listing is accurate, but if you have any questions Sadie responds very quickly.

  • The Sugar Shack was the perfect get-away for me. I’m a country girl who lives in the city and travels too much for work. I needed something quiet and quant with great views, this place delivered. Sadie told me it might be cold and we could start a fire. We had it on for a bit and to our surprise the blankets kept us plenty warm. I loved waking up at to all the farm animals and would’ve loved to spend more time here. Thanks Sadie!!

    Nikki Jo2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I love 5 star hotels BUT I also loved the shack (it's a brand new dwelling). Such an adventure! Clean, quiet, nice touches and your own well-built private outhouse. I never felt so happy and alive on a sunny Friday morning. I will come back soon.

Quarantine in the woods! Hike-in to your fully outfitted off grid yurt and stay the night on a mountain top enjoying magnificent southerly views with a bonfire and watch the stars put on a show. Bring your sleeping bag, linens, food, and musical instruments to begin your incredible Maine adventure. The mountain is waiting for you! Mountain report: blueberries are dwindling. Still an opportunity to eat and make a pancake.
“I’ve loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.” -Galileo Galilei Enjoy sleeping under the stars in a Mountain top yurt with access to 4,000's acres more of walking trails on public land. Views of Branch lake to E and surrounding mountains. Views of Acadia SE and Camden SW from the summit. This is a hike in only mountain top yurt with rugged terrain that ends in awe-inspiring views at the summit. Park at the base and hike a 1/4 mile up the mountain that contains slopes of the nearly 45° on worn moss, roots and rocks. Not for the weak of heart or those expecting a casual stroll in flip flops. The hike up is between 15-30 minutes depending on your level of fitness. Once at the top, you'll be able to walk among wild blueberries, mosses, lichens and huckleberries, spruce, pine, fir in random open areas. “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson When you get to the yurt area, you will be greeted by the mountain tops, lakes, tops of trees, ocean and may even see hawks and eagles hovering with views that go on for miles. Amenities include: Beautiful 20' yurt, wood stove, 3 burner gas cook stove, solar patio lights, solar shower, 100 watt solar array that powers lights, USB ports and small 12v DC appliances. A large stone fire ring, chairs, and total privacy. 5 gallons of water/day is available at water refill station at the trail head. There are 2 full futons (you bring warm sleeping bag/bedding/NO bedding provided in this space). Bringing your own bedding is not optional, it's a must. The bathroom is a comfortable outhouse with a solar shower in the great outdoors (you bring towel). Bring your sleeping bag, towel, food, knapsack and mind open to inspiration. “Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life.” -Rachel Carson Minutes from Acadia, Ellsworth, Bangor, Belfast. For those who desire privacy, beauty and peace. Ideal for writers, painters, hikers, retreaters, honeymooners, photographers, nature lovers, and revelers of summer Maine fun. No check ins after 5:00 pm as it takes 20-25 minutes/non stop to get to the top and 20 minute orientation. So LB has a hard time descending the mountain in the dark. The yurt is fully outfitted with a woodstove for heat (including firewood for your splitting enjoyment--lessons provided on demand), propane stove for cooking, small kitchen with cookware and kitchen basics, solar lights for overhead lighting, two full size futons, dining table, 3 coolers for cold items, games, and an outhouse complete with solar shower. The yurt is insulated a bit, it is canvas. Bringing a warm sleeping bag will enhance your stay in cool Maine nights or when the clouds roll in. Water is the essence of life, and the yurt being on a mountaintop does not afford plumbing, city water, a well, or aqueduct. There is a water station at the base of the mountain with free gallons of water that needs to be human powered up to the top for your enjoyment. Instead of running water, it’s climbing water. It’s part of the experience. Use as little or as much as you like. But, replacing what you find at the top is the rule. If you leave more than you found, you are paying it forward and building good karma. If you take more than you find and don’t replace it, it is $10 a gallon which will be deducted from your deposit. Your choice. Your water. Your life. We are pet friendly. Send a request to bring your friendly well-trained pet. Please include breed/name/history/good pet report to get accepted. We do not discriminate against large dogs. We do against mean, biting, untrained and misbehaving ones. note: the yurt heats up during the day and is not safe to leave your pet inside.
The sky, valleys, lakes, ocean and views. We enjoy sharing this space with people who want to enjoy a unique and wild setting. Those who want to see if "I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." --HD Thoreau
  • Lb’s yurt is super cute and quaint, and is outfitted with more amenities then we expected! The views are stunning and stargazing on a clear night was totally magical! We put a blanket down on top of the futon, and then laid our sleeping bags on top of that and it was really cozy! The kitchen is stocked well with all the things you need, and the Christmas lights inside are another sweet touch. We’d come back, but in the warmer months. The wood burning stove gives heat like nothing you’ve felt before, but you gotta keep it going! And if you’ve never used one or split wood before, then this could be difficult like it was for city slickers like us. But getting it figured it out was worth it, and a super cool experience! All in all it was a lovely stay! Oh and Lb is awesome, and super calm and clearly a great person, as are his pups!

    Samantha2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous views in a wilderness setting with a chance to just be in nature. Great for adventurous kids.

    Thomas2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience! This place is a hidden gem with breathtaking views! If you desire to relax and enjoy nature I highly recommend booking this yurt! Close to hiking trails in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and a local farm: Happytown.

    Jess2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Life the way it should be. If you're a New Englander, this is as good as it gets - a roughly 900-foot mountain and nobody around for miles - pure Maine. From mornings watching the clouds rise off the surrounding mountains to stargazing in a way only Maine can provide, staying at Lb's yurt is a feeling you won't be forgetting any time soon.

    Christopher2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • So much better than I could have imagined! The mountain is steep and carrying our packs up was hard, but as the quote from TS Eliot posted along the path says, "Only those who risk going too far will find out how far they can go." From the comfortable chair swings placed along the mountain path to the feeling of peace and accomplishment you get watching the sunset over the raging fire you gathered wood for from the forest yourself, I cannot recommend this experience enough! My boyfriend and I enjoyed the most romantic weekend of singing as we swayed in the hammock under the stars and cuddling by the warmth of the wood stove. It's so close to the breathtaking views of Acadia and the many sparkling lakes and rivers that are a kayakers dream! We can't wait to come back! Thanks for the wonderful experience LB!

    T2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the yurt is breathtaking! The stargazing was like no other. If you are looking for some peace and solitude, this is it. It was an amazing experience for us. While the hike to the top while hauling gear could be problematic for some people, it is well worth a little sweat. My daughters 7 and 11 carried their own packs to the top with no complaint and in the end, they did not want to leave! The blueberries were abundant during our stay which was a nice perk because there is nothing like fresh blueberries. LB was very quick to respond to messages and seems like such a great guy. Though it is quite a drive for us, we will more than likely visit the yurt again.

    Judy2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, best experience I’ve had. The view was amazing, and the isolation was perfect. Obviously you have to be prepared for the climb. We purchased a hiking pack, new water bladders, and even trekking poles. If you carry everything up the first day, the rest of your trip will be a breeze. I am definitely going to be a repeat customer!

    Eric2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Even better than I had hoped. What an incredible location and space. And mountain blueberries too! Can’t wait to come again!

    Emale2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of our most favorite places!! They had everything you could possibly forget to bring! Kitchen was fully stocked! Bathroom had everything from makeup wipes, makeup mirror, extra shampoo and conditioner!!! We loved the whole place! We will definitely be back when we travel to Acadia!!!

    Kristin2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, clean and well furnished, great communication and location. Met our needs very well.

    Randy2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin? Let's say, right as Stefan and I were settling in, we turned to each other and said that we'd love to stay longer. Then I went on ahead and recommended this AirBNB to some close friends! SO blown away. Beth and Burns were very nice and the extra thoughtful touches added were so great. It really felt like being in a home. The little detail that I noticed here that I've never seen anywhere else was they added motion activated nightlights. This way if we got up in the middle of the night we were able to get around safely. They really thought of everything! Highly recommend!

  • If you are kind and considerate you cannot find a better place to stay than Nadene's. This was our first AirBnB stay, and what a great experience it was. We went to Bangor to visit our son at UMaine. When he graduates, I do not expect to stay with Nadene. That privilege will go to my mother and my aunt. Otherwise if we go to Bangor again I know where we'll be making reservations.

    Eric2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a superb deal. The room is spacious and clean. The house is tidy and welcoming. I felt comfortable and at home.

  • Beautiful home in a nice, quiet area. Nadene's incredibly hospitable and will go far and beyond to make sure you have an amazing stay.

    Omar2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very pretty house, which is near to the downtown. You can take a Uber or bus to go everywhere. Nadene is a very nice landlady. She takes care of us very much. It is so lucky to meet her in this city. Of course, the house has everything you need. I promise this is a very good place to live.

  • Wonderful home, pleasant host, comfortable, clean and peaceful

    David2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My first experience with Airbnb was a wonderful success. Nadene treated me like I was her distant nephew. It was my first time in Maine, and she was very helpful with tips and suggestions, and her place was clean and cozy. I would certainly stay again. Without a doubt.

    Sean2019-08-15T00:00:00Z

  • The absolute perfect spot! We were warmly welcomed by Ingrid and Rick with so many thoughtful goodies and tips, it felt like coming home. Waking up to the gorgeous view every morning and enjoying coffee with the cosy fireplace was just a dream. One of the best Airbnbs I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at a ton. If we're ever back in the area I hope we can stay here again!

    Ashley2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ingrid’s place was cozy, quaint and quiet. For those that would like a more secluded place among nature to unwind, this cottage is just the place with the right amount of space for a couple. The porch was a nice place to read and waking up to a lake outside your window every morning was a refreshing bonus. The bed was also very comfortable and the fireplace inviting. Lots of added stylish touches with a bottle of wine included.

    Kevin2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a hidden gem! We almost don't want to review it so we can go back anytime we desire, lol. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and didn't want to leave. We highly recommend the lovely hosts of this cabin. They are so warm and welcoming! They have not only styled this immaculate space beautifully with all amenities, but, they have added lovely touches to make your stay very cozy and romantic. Flowers, chocolates, comfy bed & bedding, fluffy towels, books, and everything you could possibly need in the well stocked kitchen! Besides this , the grounds and location are so fun filled. Surrounded by nature, beautiful plantings, the call of the loons on the lake , and the outdoor equipment such as kayak and canoe make for one of the most enjoyable stays we ever had! Swim in the lake , barbecue on the shore, and have a glass of wine on the porch, or out on the chaise lounges, or by the fire pit. Just heavenly!! Oh, and we biked and hiked all day in breathtaking Acadia too! Best trip ever! Thank you hosts for a wonderful stay!

  • The cabin on Toddy Pond is wonderful. We've been staying here for years. The space is cozy and inviting with everything you need to cook and relax. • Nancy and Dick's cottage on Toddy Pond was amazing! The windows offered views of the pond that couldn't be any better. The property is surrounded by beautiful woodlands, but is not too remote. The cottage is warm, comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed, and we could not have been happier. It was a great base for us to explore the Bar Harbor area, as it was only about a 40 minute drive from there. We highly recommend a stay here.

Come, experience Downeast Maine from the epicenter of its famous coast, remarkable for its stunning views, nesting bald eagles, basking seals, fireflies and starry nights. Stay in our Waterview Cottage with its double bed and comfortable living room overlooking Smith Cove and summer sunsets. Cozy up to our fireplace (propane) on those cool evenings. It's a 5 minute walk to the town dock where you can enjoy water access. Our location is quite remote including lots of winding roads. If you want a little piece of heaven in rural coastal Maine this is your place. The cottage is lovely and very comfortable, mostly one big room (plus a bedroom) surrounded by windows with a beautiful distant view of Smith’s Cove. A short walk takes you to that idyllic, quintessential Maine cove and dock. Brooksville Maine is a sweet friendly little village. Good coffee is 99 cents (with your own travel mug) at Buck's Harbor market where there are yummy breakfast treats, provisions for lunch and basic groceries too. Buck's restaurant behind the market is delicious fine dining and The Bagaduce Lunch is an award winning fried seafood shack with unbeatable views. Don’t miss Tinder Hearth for amazing bread, crossants, scones and pizza on selected nights. Hike the beautiful Goose Falls trail in the nearby Hollbrook Sanctuary or venture out to Acadia National Park, one of the most exquisite of our national treasures. There's lots to do for all ages: Like to walk/hike? Explore nearby Holbrook Sanctuary, hike Blue Hill Mountain or take a picnic to Acadia National Park, just 1 1/2 hours away, for spectacular hiking or biking through the woods on the famous Carriage Trails. The Blue Hill Heritage Trust has added many new hiking trails on the peninsula. Want to get on the water? Charter a sailboat at Buck's Harbor Marine for a day on Eggemoggin Reach or rent kayaks to paddle on one of our many local bays, or take the mail boat to Isle au Haut (part of Acadia Natn'l Park) for a hike, or swim in the local, and warmish, Walker Pond. Is art your thing? Plan a day trip to Deer Isle, Stonington, or Blue Hill to check out the impressive, local art scene. The Reversing Falls Sanctuary offers art openings and other events. Like music? World famous Kneisal Hall Music School in Blue Hill hosts fabulous classical concerts throughout the summer; Flash in the Pan Steel Drum Band plays at the Blue Hill town park most Monday evenings (overlooking Blue Hill harbor); check out the Stonington Opera House for their repertoire of all kinds of performances; live music Tues. nights at Methodist Church in Buck's Harbor; open mic at Tinderhearth. Are you a Foodie? Pick up your bread ( croissants, tarts, cookies, pizza and more!) at our local Tinderhearth Bakery, and your greens at the Brooksville Farmer's Market on Tuesdays just above Buck's Harbor Market. David's Folly Farm will sell you farm fresh meat and Buck's Harbor Market (5 minutes away) has just about everything else for dinner. O yes, and, of course, don't forget you can buy lobsters at Northern Bay Market, live or cooked and ready to go! Then, come back to Waterview Cottage and watch the sun as it sets over Smith Cove. And, great, local restaurants abound - see the local Weekly Packet for more info. There's so much more to do – play golf, tennis, visit pottery studios, enjoy raw oysters fresh from the local (and world famous) Bagaduce River Oyster Farm, go bird watching, or visit the pioneering “back-to-the-land" Good Life Center 7 miles away in Cape Rosier. Oh! I forgot to mention blueberry pie a la mode. You'll just have to come explore for yourself! Welcome!
We love the peace and quiet.

  • Location was pretty far out there but it's sure worth it. Dan was really nice and gave us great tips for local attractions. Great communicator respond super quick. I would definitely go there again.

  • We enjoyed our stay. A nice log cabin in the woods with two guest rooms, shared bath, common area with living room and kitchen, host stays upstairs in the loft. Dan was very welcoming and friendly. Communication was excellent.

  • This is the most unique experience you will have at ARBnB. Dan is a most gracious host and has so many things for breakfast it’s like going to your very own restaurant. The grounds are amazing and Dan is the most friendly and relaxed host. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here on your travels.

    Anita2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy retreat on beautiful grounds. Maine is just stunning in autumn and Dan's place was perfect.

  • The cabin is very quaint and the location is serene. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to lay low, this is a fine option.

  • This Air BNB, Log cabin at Stonecrop Meadow hosted by Dan in Hampden, Maine, is a lovely log cabin in a beautiful traditional Maine setting. Dan is an excellent host making sure every detail was managed with care. The accommodations were very warm, comfortable and inviting. Dan is very knowledgeable about the area and can help make a visit there very enjoyable. I will book this lodging again when in the area.

  • Just perfect. Beautiful house in a beautiful environment. Comfortable room and shower, breakfast pantry a great touch - would greatly recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in the area.

  • Great how this place is both convenient yet remote and rustic and comfortable! It is an easy drive to the Bangor airport and to other destinations in this part of Maine, but the long dirt road to the property was my first indication that this Airbnb is nestled in a wooded area off the beaten track. There is a large meadow which was sunny and warm during my October visit, there are trails right out the back door of the cabin, there is a well stocked kitchen and cupboards filled with bathroom supplies and linens, and the queen room was warm and cozy. I slept well and woke to the sounds of the rooster, perfect!

  • Renee and her husband were great hosts! The space was perfect for my boyfriend and I and our two dogs. They had so much space outside to run about and the apartment was spacious with a good selection of kitchen tools. They helped us boil the live lobsters we brought back on our last night and even provided melted butter for us. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to coming back.

Cozy cabin set in the woods surrounded by fields. The ocean is close by as are beautiful lakes and streams. Very close to historic Castine and the Maine Maritime Academy. Blue Hill is a short drive and Acadia National Park is about one hour away.
My home is small but cozy. The main floor has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry. It is set well off the road partly in a field and wooded area. The attic is yet unfinished but has two single beds.
  • Very cozy cottage, well maintained and equipped. Geoffrey gave some great pointers for the area and shopping suggestions to prepare our college student for the upcoming winter. The cottage stayed warm, it was comfortable waking up in the morning to the warmth and the temperature was cold out. If you’re traveling with a small family the cottage is spacious enough to accommodate.

Our private, off grid glamping experience is the perfect way to relax and unwind after exploring the nearby coast of Maine. The six acre property is located just 15 minutes from Mount Desert Island and five minutes from downtown Ellsworth, malls and amenities. A propane gas lamp offers warm illumination of the space. The yurt comfortably accommodates up to four adults within its two hundred square feet and in the adjacent camp site. A warm sleeping bag for colder months is a 'must have'.
The property offers a scenic getaway for those who desire immersion in nature near Acadia. The wood heated yurt offers a quiet space for enjoying the areas peaceful forests and wildlife. This glamping experience includes a wood stove, access to an outdoor solar heated shower as well as a composting outhouse. The yurt is a fifteen minute drive to the National Parks beautiful scenery and is about the same distance from Blue Hill and Schoodic Point. There is great cell service at the property.
Pioneer Farm Way is a quiet, residential neighborhood located along the coast of Maine on a rural dirt road. The history of the area is rich in Native American culture and late colonization with an excellent historical exhibit in Bar Harbor. The Ellsworth Library, Flexit Cafe are reliable sources of WiFi within 5 minutes. Birdsacre nature trails are within walking distance of the yurt.
  • Awesome experience, great communication, lovely spot. Everything was just as described and i would definately recommend this place to anyone who enjoys peace and quiet, with the added benefit of wood heat and nearby town.

  • Can’t say enough good things about Bruce and his yurt. It’s a pretty unique and spectacular place to stay. Bruce’s description in the listing was spot on, and our stay there was terrific. Would absolutely visit again!

    Brennan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great glamping spot. Yurt was clean and spacious for my husband and I. We were at the spot when it got into the 30s at night so it was a little chilly (we had a little trouble keeping the fire going but was user error!) but we were fine in our sleeping bags. The property is only a 25 minute drive from Acadia and a great deal vs. spending $200/night at a hotel.

    Katie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely taste of the yurt life. Nestled close to Acadia for daily exploration. We stayed nice and toasty all night thanks to the wood stove .

    Brittany2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is conveniently located outside of town, so you do not have to go far if you want some local luxuries (like nice restaurants and a hot shower at the Y)! Also it is close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The furnace worked great in keeping us warm on chilly nights. We enjoyed our stay! For those who think "glamping" means hotel, please be forewarned that this is a couple steps above tent camping.

    Jacquelyn2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Yurt stayed warm on cold nights thanks to accessible firewood. Came as advertised and had a wonderful visit!

    Tom2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay here. Happy with what was offered for the price. Felt so cozy to be tucked into the woods but very conveniently close to town. Would recommend to anyone who likes the woods. Very clean when I arrived.

    Mikayla2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in the yurt with myself and one other person, but the space would comfortably accommodate 2 more people. The wood stove is a nice touch, especially to take the chill off of an early morning. Jeb, the caretaker, was helpful in showing us what we needed to know. The drive to Acadia is about 40 minutes, but I would argue that is better than staying right at the park. There is a lot of beautiful land and homes to see on that drive that you would miss otherwise. I plan on staying here again at some point.

Cozy, light-bathed bedroom in the renovated "back house" of an 1850s Maine farmhouse. A peaceful space for healthcare workers or others looking for a place to work or stay during the COVID 19 epidemic. We will keep the room empty for 3 days between guests during this time, and will increase our usual cleaning procedures to include sanitizing all frequently touched surfaces. The room has a private entrance - no need for any interaction with hosts. Dedicated guest parking for anytime access.
Newly remodeled space, including a private bathroom with rainfall shower. Cotton bedding and towels, down comforter, SUPER-comfortable mattress, new heat pump to keep you warm or cool (depending on the season), space heater for those extra cold winter days and nights, a closet and set of drawers. Tea, coffee, and a refrigerator provided in the room. This space is perfect for anyone looking for an affordable, private, clean, safe and comfortable alternative to a hotel room. It is ideal for those looking to spend a night on their way to or from Acadia National Park, traveling to the area for multi-day business trips, or using the room as a cozy crash pad from which to explore the Midcoast region. If you are looking for a space in which you can prepare meals, enjoy cocktails on a private patio, or be secluded in the Maine wilderness, our place probably doesn't fit the bill...but there are many other options in the area that would. Other details to note so there are no surprises: The room does not have a TV but does have Wi-Fi. There are a set of gravel and wooden steps leading up to the entrance from the private driveway...if you are not able to lift your suitcases this could be a problem, though we are happy to assist with luggage if we are home. Also, our house is much the same as it was in the 1850s but the town around it has grown and the road outside the home is well-traveled. The same location that makes our place a very convenient stop also means that the home is not super secluded....but most guests report a very restful stay nonetheless. Though best suited to two adults, small families with children who don't mind sleeping on the floor are welcome. Ample floor space for a couple of sleeping bags (not provided).
Waldo County has a thriving local foods movement - stop by the Belfast Co-op to check out their well-stocked shelves of local and natural foods, or visit one of our two wonderful farmers markets: the Belfast Farmer's Market (Fridays 9-1, year-round, outdoor in summer, indoor in winter) or the United Farmers Market of Maine (Saturdays 9-2, year-round, indoor). Take a walk along the Belfast Harbor Walk, check out the thriving downtown shops and art galleries, and end the evening with a seafood dinner outside on the deck at Young's Lobster Pound, overlooking lovely Penobscot Bay. (Heads up - Young's is BYOB!) Many other places of interest, both near and far - just ask!
  • Spacious and gracious and sparkling new (or it felt like it). A lovely retreat only 5 minutes to downtown. Highly recommended.

  • Leigh’s place was a great studio to stay in for the conference I attended. 5 minutes from the UMaine Hutchinson Center, very clean and warm, great hospitality. I nice place to stay in Belfast!

  • The back house was much better than we expected and wonderful in every way. It was comfortable, warm, really stylish, great coffee, comfy bed. It felt spacious and private but it was very close to Belfast. We relaxed and took advantage of her suggested restaurants which were excellent. The exterior of the main house gives no indication of the adorableness of the inside. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again.

    Megan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here on a winter weekend getaway, and loved it! I would highly recommend it. The space is cozy and charming, with great amenities - the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The Back House is a great value and offers easy access to Belfast, or other spots in the Midcoast or Downeast region.

There was a map on the fridge of the downtown area that was a very nice touch as well. I have been spending more time in Bangor lately and I am looking forward to using Leah's place again!

  • Molly's place was picture perfect. We wanted a quiet getaway from the city and her place was beautiful camping chic! We really enjoyed the covered seating area for morning coffee and during an evening rainstorm, and the fire and outdoor kitchen was extremely convenient. Best of all our dog Ozzy felt very welcomed with the dog bed laid out for him. Thanks Molly, we will be back!

    Hannah2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning camp site! Everything has been thought of for you! Easy drive to Acadia park and Bar Harbor! Would definitely return.

    Hannah2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Molly’s place is a little piece of heaven. Nestled amongst the trees near the lake we had lots of privacy and loved having our own little bit of waterfront to sit and have coffee in the morning and listen to the loons in the evening! Molly was super helpful between directions and suggestions and tips, and the lake was lovely in Sept- cool but quiet. We had lots of good paddling in Molly’s kayaks, and loved visiting her family’s little island not too far from shore. The living spaces are incredibly well thought out- from the BBQ/sink spot to bonfire to the covered porch area where you can hang out if you want to be outside when it’s raining. It makes for very comfortable living; all the best of camping without any of the feeling of being cramped into one spot! In short, a wonderful find. We can’t wait to come back! 😊

    Hayley2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing glamping location with great swimming and kayaking!

    Laura2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Molly’s campsite is the perfect stay for anyone seeking some privacy with lake access! Unlike over encumbered campgrounds Molly’s site provides you with seclusion and time to yourself. Also has everything you would need for a comfortable camping experience! Having stayed here I will more than likely never book with a campground in the future!

    Alexander2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This exceeded my expectations. I loved every second I got to spend here and would love to come back next summer. It was the perfecting ending to my summer and I would recommend this anytime! So peaceful and the set up is unique and convenient. Thanks Molly!

    Jaida2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Molly's campground was perfect! We spent a totally relaxing day by the lake, reading by the water and kayaking around the pond. The trailer was larger than we expected and very comfortable, and the outdoor kitchen had everything we needed. This was a great base to explore Acadia, and a beautiful spot to spend a few days.

    Dylan2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • For those who want a camping experience without the hassle of figuring it all out, packing it and setting it all up this would be the experience for you! Molly thought of everything and everything was super organized. The location is awesome and my kids are planning the next trip here. Thanks Molly!

The "Oasis Room" at Stream Road Farmhouse, located in the bucolic town of Winterport, combines the warmth and charm of an early century home with the ease of modern conveniences; centrally located between Bangor and Belfast. Whether visiting Acadia Nat'l Park, Maine's many harbor towns or Stephen King's house (!); you'll get that rural "in the country feeling" while only 10 mi from I-95 and 20 min from Bangor Int'l Airport. *Breakfast incl. & long term stays welcome!
*NOTE: I have 2 bedrooms available (each under separate listings) - this one is the "Oasis Room" (bright, sunny and inviting!) and has 2 twin size beds. Bedrooms are located on the second story and staircase is extra wide (not the typical New England "steep & narrow"!). The upstairs bathroom will be "private" if the other bedroom (Stream Road Farm House - Tree House Room *which has a queen size bed) isn't booked - feel free to ask, if this is a concern! I've included pictures of the downstairs bathroom which has a great bathtub I'd be happy to share! Also, I have four little dogs (all related) who, although not the yappy type, will bark their greetings - other than that, they're pretty quiet! Smoking is permitted on the outside patio and, in inclement weather, the front enclosed porch may be used (it has windows!).
Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory (the tallest public bridge observatory in the world!) and historic Fort Knox only 15 min. away and the famous Winterport Dragway (fun to watch the races and a great place to walk around!) and access to Maine's Interconnected Trail System both located within a mile from the Farmhouse!
  • My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Wendy's place. Wendy is an extremely accommodating and thoughtful hostess, thinking of everything and anything that a traveling guest might need. All accommodations were very clean and inviting. The dogs were a delighted treat and welcomed us as well. Wendy's home was a terrific Winterport experience!

    Karen2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Tom are super friendly, welcoming and understanding when we arrived. We were heading to Acadia the next day and they provided very helpful information. Their kitchen/common area feels great: the ceiling is tall, and the space is nicely lit with warm lights at night and natural light in the morning. We had a very pleasant breakfast there and some wonderful chats with the couple!

    Michele2020-01-03T00:00:00Z

  • Wendy and Tom were superb hosts! I came to the area to explore Acadia and this was a perfect home base for that. Wendy was lovely to chat with and Tom was incredibly knowledgeable about Acadia, and both gave me excellent recommendations on the area! The space was remarkably clean and cozy, I felt right at home. I would highly recommend them.

Located on Bald Mountain between Bangor and Ellsworth it's a short drive to either. The mountain has a lot of trails on it for hiking or 4 wheeling and hunting. A few miles away is the beach and boat launch on Branch Lake one of the best lakes in Maine. You can watch a concert at Darlings Waterfront concerts or check out Acadia National Park or enjoy the Maine wilderness
  • Joe’s cabin overlooking a pond in a quiet natural area was just what my son and I were looking for. The commute to Acadia National Park was about an hour with more great samples of Maine outdoors. Our dog Teddy actually staged a sit down when he thought we were leaving on the last day. 😉

  • Joe’s Charming retreat is a good place to stay during the visit to Acadia. It has all amenities needed to cook and stay for our family of 3 and a pet. My pet enjoyed roaming around the home which has a small pond behind the house. Great views with mountain and water. If you are ok to drive an hour one way daily to Acadia and Bar harbor then this is good place with great price.

  • This mountain aerie is a gem. Quiet, peaceful, home-like, it was not only economical but endearing. We would return there in a heartbeat if we are back in the area

  • Spent a week at Joe's house, everything was great. Joe was very quick to respond with any question we had. The house was fully stocked, very clean, great location where we were able to find lots of wildlife. Just wish there was a laundromat closer.

  • I have stayed here several times and as always everything was perfect.

    Christine2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough positive things about Nadene and her place. This was my best airbnb experience to date. Nadene was quick to respond to messages and provided clear instructions for parking, entering the house, etc. Nadene was friendly and welcoming, and she made my stay feel like home. My room was stylishly decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen were spotless and both had amenities that made my stay easy and enjoyable. Nadene even provided breakfast each morning: bagels, freshly cut fruit, and coffee -- both hot and iced! Prior to my checkout, Nadene left a travel mug so that I could take my coffee on the road. The rate is super affordable and, given how wonderful Nadene and her place are, it could easily be much higher. I highly recommend Nadene's place!

    Erin2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely would stay again. Nadene's place is very clean and homey. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the tea, coffee, and light breakfast since we got up really early to head straight to Acadia. The location is quiet and just a short ride to downtown Bangor and an hour to Acadia.

    Dalia2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nadene is a very friendly host, wanting to go out of her way to help. Very laid back and flexible. The breakfast was definitely a nice touch!

    Angela2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Easy check-in. Nadene is a very good communicator. Was saying for a few nights en-route to hiking Mt. Katahdin so just needed a place to sleep. Nice, clean and cozy room. Cold A/C, good shower pressure, good wifi, and free off-street parking was a plus. Would stay again if in the area.

This cozy house is walking distance from downtown Belfast, the Belfast Rail Trail, and the Belfast Harbor. The house is a romantic nest for two or a crash pad for up to six. Live comfortably while gaining easy access to all the cool adventures Mid-Coast Maine offers. Please note this is a real older house in a real neighborhood. It is eco-friendly and I do not use pesticides. You may see harmless house spiders, birds and plants. If you are looking for a hotel experience, please stay in a hotel.
This lovely bungalow style house has a full kitchen with all the kitchen tools you need to cook using easily obtained local food. It has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, full stove with oven, all pots, pans and dishes, and all silver and utensils you might need. The Belfast Co-op and two local farmer's markets are walking distance away. The sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility - there is a bedroom with a queen bed, another with twin bunk beds, and also a comfortable futon couch. There is also plenty of room in the yard to set up a tent if you prefer to enjoy the fresh ocean air flowing off the bay. The front porch provides a relaxing place to watch the sky and listen to the wind blow through the willow tree leaves. The house is heated and cooled with a heat pump which allows you to keep the space the perfect temperature at all times. There is a washer and dryer in the basement if you need to cycle some clothes during a longer stay.
The proximity this house provides you to downtown Belfast is awesome. You are only two minutes walking away from Waterfall Arts, an amazing local art center that hosts all kinds of classes for kids and adults, a gallery, lots of events and music, and a farmer's market. Another three minutes walking puts you in the heart of downtown Belfast, which is an amazing small town! Here are some of my favorites: Check out the Colonial Theater for the latest movies in a gorgeous art deco theater with three screens. There are lots of awesome restaurants (faves: Nautlius, Meanwhile in Belfast, Delvino's, Laan Xang, Chase's Daily, Darby's), local breweries/bars (Rollies, Three Tides, Front Street Pub), two delicious ice cream shops (The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, Wild Cow Creamery), and so many cool stores (Coyote Moon, The Green Store, Colburn's Shoes, Justine, The Good Table, Eat More Cheese, Yo Momma's, Side Country Sports and Bike Shop - you can rent bikes there, and on and on). The Belfast area is chock full of outdoor activities: you can hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, sail, walk, ski, skate - anything you want, we do it! There are local schooners at the Belfast harbor to book a sailing trip on (Timberwind, Amity), as well as places to rent bikes, kayaks and other gear (Side Country Sports, Water Walker, Ducktrap Kayak). Local trails and preserves include the Belfast Rail Trail, the Hills to the Sea trail, Stover Preserve, Bald Mountain (towards Camden), Head of Tide Preserve, Sears Island (near Searsport), Moose Point State Park, Camden Hill State Park, and so many more! And of course Belfast is a great jumping off place for the full range of what Maine offers: visit Islesboro (twenty minutes drive to ferry, twenty minute ferry ride), Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (hour and a half drive), Camden and Mount Batty (twenty minute drive), Baxter State Park and Katahdin (two hour drive), on and on...
  • Quaint house in the middle of nowhere. Belfast is an interesting place. Thank you Louisa

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place really does feel like a little home away from home. It’s spacious, clean, and there is literally everything you need; from spices to board games. The host is super friendly and replies very fast. Everything worked out perfectly and we had an amazing time. Already recommend the place to a friend.

    Teodor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a clean, cozy and carefree atmosphere, just like home. It is easy to relax and sit around the kitchen table with coffee in the morning or spend a casual evening at the cottage with take out food from one of the many restaurants in Belfast. It is close to everything, yet very quiet at night.

Loon Sound Cottage, on beautiful Toddy Pond in Surry, is centrally located between Bar Harbor/Acadia & Blue Hill Peninsula. Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a lakeside oasis while just being a short distance from many sites of interest. Bar Harbor, Castine, Blue Hill, Acadia. Hear the loons at night, kayak to beaver cove and see an eagles nest. Tranquil, wildlife and peaceful. A great place! Note: we have installed a new composting toilet in the cottage that requires a step up.
This charming cottage is nestled in among the evergreen trees and is located just 60 feet from the shoreline. Enjoy cooking fresh Maine lobster and blueberry pie in the full kitchen, or grill in the open air on the gas grill while watching the sunset over the pond. The living room is the perfect place to sit and relax after a day of hiking in Acadia or kayaking right on the pond. Or enjoy listening to the loon calls from the sweet screened in porch off of the living room. Wake to beautiful sunrises from your bedroom, which offers a comfortable queen sized bed. There is also a double futon in the living room for overnight guests. The cottage has been completely renovated and is extremely clean. Loon Sound Cottage is the perfect place to call home while you discover the wonders of coastal Maine.
It is quiet and tranquil! Most of the neighbors are birds and trees!
  • Great little place. If you want a nice quiet very clean place this is it.

  • Loon Sound Cottage is wonderful, and Maureen and Rob are generous hosts and wonderful stewards of this beautiful place. You will be comfortable here and nourished by beauty all around (and by thoughtful snacks!). Everything promised and more.

  • Wonderful location! We loved the setting on the lake and the accommodations were excellent. Great hospitality and Maureen provided excellent local tips on food and hiking. It was a perfect quiet getaway, within driving distance of local attractions.

  • Maureen and Rob's place is so special. It's a perfect getaway. Having the pond just steps away from the cabin was magical. And Maureen & Rob themselves could not have been more helpful and kind.

    Jason2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen and Rob’s cottage is an absolutely peaceful getaway. We spent a very relaxing week recharging by the pond, swimming, kayaking, grilling, and hiking in nearby Acadia. It was exactly what we were looking for, and Maureen and Rob were the sweetest hosts. Highly recommend!

  • Staying at Loon Sound Cottage was a great experience. My wife and I enjoyed much relaxation in the midst of a beautiful location. It was on the lake with a small private dock and in the woods, just a short distance from the main house, and Rob and Maureen were terrific hosts. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking and taking long walks. It was also within an hour’s drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and the Lobster Pot Restaurant was superb as well. We would recommend this place to anyone and would go there again. Thank you Rob and Maureen!

  • A wonderful place to swim and great hospitality.

    Constance2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a peaceful, quiet location to relax and feel immersed in nature -- and we found it here! The loons at night were amazing. There is a private dock 60 yards from the front door, with lounge chairs -- which is where I spent most of my time. Toddy Pond is tranquil and beautiful. The cottage was just right for 2 of us. Maureen and Rob were perfect hosts. We want to go back!

  • Dan is a great person. His home is cozy and warm. The twin beds were much more comfortable abd suprising as I expected college form style i was wrong. I also the the property layout. His helpful little cheat sheet of the area is perfect. If you've never been and you like seafood try anglers get the pie its worth it. The chickens were a nice touch and it was absolutely beautiful there. No complaints was a great place to visit.

    Kristen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is an excellent host! Went above and beyond in accommodations, especially considering the cost! Beautiful cabin on a gorgeous property. The chickens were fun too!

    Jen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a cute log cabin in a nicely wooded area. It was close to Bangor and we used it as a central hub to explore Maine. Dan was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was included and it was nice having a vacation so we didn't have to eat out every meal. Enjoyed our stay and the peace and quite of the cabin.

    Melissa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A great, quiet place to stay. Dan is a fantastic and an accommodative host. My wife and I enjoyed our stay greatly.

    Thomas2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great value! This little homestead is very remote but closer to Bangor. You can sit on the front porch and feed the chickens. Out just admire the nature.

    Kimberly2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing log cabin with a private garden filled with vegetables, animals and surrounded by woods. A true get a way in the woods of Maine.

    Maddy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant time staying with Dan! The log cabin is beautiful, well equipped, cosy, and so, so welcoming. Dan is a true gentleman, very laid back, and so gracious and considerate. The guest experience has been so throughly thought about - everything was labelled for the convenience of the guests, from kitchen cupboards, to light switches, to shelves in the linen closets where fresh, clean towels were provided on a help-yourself basis. The beds were cosy and clean, the living space snug and friendly. The garden is incredable! If you are an animal lover, then there are chickens that roam free, who will run up to you if you shake the jar of cracked corn that lives on the porch. It was a brilliant, brilliant stay! Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed the cabin in the woods, and both host and guests were very hospitable.

  • Cozy, clean, and compact space in Belfast. We hope to come again.

    Deborah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy apartment just outside Belfast. Just needed a place to crash and this was very lovely. Amy was very friendly when I bumped into her in the evening!

    Katie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place is a nice place! I stayed there while visiting family. It’s a modern and simple place that has all the essentials- towels, WiFi, Roku and coffee! I found the place to be sparkling clean. I didn’t interact with Amy but I prefer less interaction while traveling as I’m typically too busy and/ or tired from driving to want interaction. It’s just a few minutes outside of town and easy to find.

    Joshua2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little spot on a quiet road. Never met the owner, but that was fine, she was very pleasant and prompt with responses through messages. Had everything I was looking for in a small weekend getaway for a great value

    John2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, responsive, welcoming. Lovely little cabin! Thanks Amy.

    Paul2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • The word apartment doesn’t do it justice. It looks and feels like you’re staying in a tiny little cottage! Very clean and quiet. Although the sofa was rather uncomfortable the comfy bed made up for it.
