  • We stayed in Veronica and Richards lovely cottage in the midst of winter and with our 6 months old toddler. The welcome could not have been any kinder - the fire was lit, cot was prepared... we felt welcome from the first second. The cottage is spacious, warm and the views of the sea are breath-taking. We can definitely recommend staying in Devlin House

  • This was my little piece of heaven, my retreat, so remote and yet within a stones throw of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. The waves from the wild Atlantic could be heard from the cosy flat, which was delightful with an open fire , rural but still modern. Clean white towels and comfy bedroom and great shower.. A stoney beach track leads to a hotel with great food, there’s lots of walks around which are easy , of course old love to come back and do some hillwalking in the mountains which is meant to be the beautiful- This is a must stay place!

  • Annmarie's & Micheal's place is remotely located next to a little lake and the sea within a 10 minutes walk. From the living room you can see the lake and the sea. The absolutely amazing part however is the little oven which is being fired with turf, which the host kindly as well as sufficiently provided us with. We loved it! Last but not least worth mentioning is the very comfy bed, a well equipped kitchen and the bathroom is sparkling clean and has a little fan heater. This place and host is definitely a recommendation!

    Toni2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, isolated, quiet, cosy, great access to beach, loved the beach walk to the pub.

    Eldon2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Airbnb with wonderful, down-to-earth hosts. Nice floorplan … yummy brown bread ... plenty of hot water … nice bed/bedroom … toasty warm with the peat woodstove … safe location with plenty of parking. Great location for visiting the coast, Achill Island, and/or Westport/Newport.

    Diana2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Annmarie’s Airbnb. We were blown away by the location. When we arrived, it was a wet, cold and windy day. Ann who was so lovely came to greet us with the keys, we were thrilled to see that the fire was blazing and the cottage was so cosy and warm. Ann brought us fresh bread straight out of the oven and fresh eggs. The cottage is spotless and has everything that’s needed for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has a great shower, but it’s the location that we loved. It’s isolated and right beside the sea so we had plenty of wonderful walks around the area. Just what we needed. Thank you to Tom and Ann for being wonderful hosts, they are so friendly and warm. This Airbnb is great value for money and I’d highly recommend it. Louisburgh is the nearest village, it’s only 11 mins away. If you do decide to stay there, make sure you do the lost valley tour at Bourkes farm. It was the highlight of our stay. Frances

    Frances2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tremendous location on the Wild Atlantic Way with the North Atlantic rolling in. Fantastic vistas from the accommodation but close to nearby towns. Lovely peat fire to warm the inner glow. But it was the magic isolation on the coast with lovely touches of home baked bread, fresh eggs, etc that were more than welcoming.

    John2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Its a nice big house with an oven and a clean bath with a nice shower. We were welcomed very warmly and found fresh bread, eggs and enough material for fires there. If you want to visit Connemara or just enjoy a few great days in Ireland next to the beach we can highly recommend to book here.

    Martin2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment, which was very clean and comfortable and has views of the sea, islands and hills. The sandy beach is a short walk away and we enjoyed peaceful afternoons there watching the birds. Anne and Tom were very friendly and helpful, and the homemade bread and fresh eggs were delicious. We would love to stay here again one day.

  • The location and the view of the apartment is outstanding. We had a really nice stay.

    Leonard2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so good we added a third night. The beds and the layout and accessibility to both Connemara and the Greenway for biking make it an ideal spot. Or if you want to stay closer to home just sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of coffee works too.

  • Nigel's apartment is superbly located with a beach front only a few minutes walk away, with other fantastic beaches within a short drive. The apartment is also well located for a trip across to Clare Island. The sea views from the apartment are second to none. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and had plenty of required amenities. The communication with Nigel was very easy with prompt replies. I would be very happy to stay here again and highly recommend this apartment.

    Shane2019-07-15T00:00:00Z

  • Really enjoyed our stay, just as described. Beautiful views! When I’m next in the area I’ll definitely look it up again.

    Andrew2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for a peaceful retreat between Christmas and New Year with our children. Apartment clean and comfortable, but the key selling point is unquestionably the fantastic view from the main room. Very impressive. Also great location - lovely circular walk from the door, local beach good fun, host recommended an amazing beach which is a 10 min drive away and our children adored. On our way down to Galway we did the Killary Fjord famine walk: one of the most beautiful walks I have ever done anywhere. The drive there is spectacular too. An excellent base for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and this corner of the world.

  • Book.this.place. We arrived at Noras place in the early evening and were just amazed by the landscape. It really looks even better than on the photos. From the living room you have a great view of the sea, only ‚disturbed‘ by some cows and sheep. We did not meet Nora, but Maureen who is just the nicest airbnb host you can imagine. The place is clean, the kitchen is well equipped and the bed comfy. If you want to see Irish nature - this is the place.

  • We had a great stay in Beatrice’s place. The house is well-designed with a nice kitchen/living-room, and had everything we needed, including great WiFi (4G). There are beautiful beaches nearby, with the closest around a 12 minute walk. The house is close to Roonagh Quay for the boat to Clare Island and Inishturk. Louisburgh is lovely with nice pubs and cafes, including Tia and Louisburgh 74. Beatrice made us very welcome.

  • Friend (es) surfers and surfers, spot alone in the world to 3 minutes by car +++. Friendly accommodation and hostess very nice and small care. The only disappointment the stove is gas and not peat.

  • This cottage is an ideal place to stay for the quiet of the countryside and access to the beaches of Mayo. Louisberg is only 20 mins drive away and there is a beautiful beach is only 15 mins walk from the house. We were a family of 6 and a dog and we were very comfortable during our stay. We really appreciated being left to our own devices. The children want to come back again!

    Abby2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was excellent and very comfortable. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't catered for. Beatrice is an excellent host.

  • This is a clean, cosy house to stay in while exploring the beautiful coastal countryside around the area.

  • Beatrice is a fantastic host and the house was spotless. Would highly recommend.

    Geraldine2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We agree with all the previous reviews, a warm, comfortable, spacious, exceptionally clean house in a beautiful setting. Lots of activities within easy access, we enjoyed horse riding, sea kayaking and a wonderful daytrip to Inishturk island. Nearby Louisburgh has some great restaurants and pubs as well as a couple of grocery stores. Beatrice is a lovely friendly host and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay with our 3 teenagers and dog.

    Susan2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed as a family of four ( including 2 teenagers) and a border terrier and were familiar with the area - close to beaches and Louisburgh being only 3miles away We had all the facilities necessary ( wifi being top priority for the teens) The owners were nice and friendly and freely available had we required their assistance. We had a great holiday and wouldn't hesitate in recommending the property to others

  • By far our favourite Airbnb experience. The view from the house is so spectacular, the house itself is just incredible and it's so close to incredible beaches and places to visit. Would return in a heartbeat, even just to see the sunsets again. Highly recommend this one.

  • All about the views 😊 We had a lovely few days stay at Máires home, it is a stylish, comfortable "home from home", clean and has everything you would need for your stay. Máire was very responsive to my messages regarding the house, bedrooms etc. The views are outstanding, you could sit all day in the rocking chair looking out the big window. There was 4 adults & 3 kids and we had loads of space. Anyone staying would have to be able to drive as it is remote but so peaceful. We would definately stay again.

    Linda2019-07-30T00:00:00Z

  • Marie’s place is stunning, i will definitely be going back. The view is unlike anywhere i have stayed before. Every morning i sat with a cup of tea and watched the waves. My boyfriend loves surfing, so was down at the beach every morning. The facilities in the kitchen are brilliant! I loved having a big kitchen to cook in. It’s a great place to relax in and take a break from the business of life.

  • We spent 3 nights at Carmels Cottage and felt very comfortable. In the small cottage we had a separate entrance, a small living room and bathroom. The breakfast was very rich and healthy. Near Carmel's house there are beautiful wide sandy beaches, in Louisbourgh there are nice small pubs and opportunities for small purchases. A trip to Westport is recommended. Carmel is a very courteous, nice and helpful host! We can highly recommend this accommodation and will be happy to come back again.

  • I enjoyed my stay with Carmel very much. Everything as described was found: clean and quiet and the town is nice. There's also delicious food. Carmel lovingly prepared my breakfast every evening so that I only had to brew my coffee in the morning. Very recommendable.

  • We spent three pleasant nights at Carmel. First of all, the house is very cute, surrounded by a garden and flowers. The room is very clean, quiet, nicely decorated according to us (like the bathroom and the small lounge) and overlooking the garden. Carmel offers breakfast with fresh fruit. Then, Carmel was both welcoming, available and discreet, allowing us to feel at home and at home! Finally, the house is located in a beautiful area, about an hour drive from Achill Island and Connemara Park, 15 minutes from Croagh Patrick and 5 minutes from the village of Louisburgh where there are a few pubs, restaurants and a supermarket. The road connecting Carmel's house to these different places is breathtaking. I will definitely come back. We spent three pleasant nights at Carmel's house. • This is our second time at Aiden's cottage. We really enjoyed our last time and we didn't hesitate and booked this time. The place is outstandingly clean and stylish as usual. To my own surprise, Aiden prepared a guitar for guests and particularly this time we enjoyed Aiden's great collection of vinyls on his superb vinyl player and amplifiers. A musical experience in the wild west coast, lovely and unforgettable memory. Definitely for us, we will visit Aiden's place again and we are surely gonna enjoy as always. Thanks for the beautiful place Aiden.

We got lots of tips and knowledge about the local area from Michael and used it a base to explore Achill Island, Killary Fjord, Westport and local beaches. It was a very natural and relaxing experience in an unspoilt location with local animals including sheep and red hares! Would definitely recommend staying here and hopefully we’ll be back!

Wake up to the best view in the world (well, that's what we think). Bright modern home inside a traditional cottage - and the last house before fields, dunes, Emlagh beach, the sea and the islands. All mod-cons and comforts, sleeping room for 10, and half an acre of grass for playing in. And the views - Clare Island, Inishturk, Inishbofin on a good day, Connemara, Mweelrea (Connacht's highest point) and the Reek itself - are grand.
This cottage is comfortable, smart and family friendly. Two bedrooms have double beds. A third bedroom has a double bed with bunk over, and single bunks. Bedroom four has single bunks. There's a Futon in the sitting room that converts into a double bed too. You have access to all kitchen appliances - including a dishwasher. Cooking is electric. There is a washing machine and drier in a separate laundry room. Wifi internet access is free, and there's office space if you need it.
The cottage is just outside Louisburgh (shops, petrol, pubs, restaurants) and slap in the middle of the Wild Atlantic Way. You are walking distance to two big sandy beaches (Emlagh and Carrowniskey - a surfing hot spot) and a short drive to a string of others from Old Head (one of the most photographed in Ireland with Croagh Patrick in the background) to the extraordinary Silver Strand at the mouth of Killary Harbour. The Mayo coast really is a place to get out and about. Walking and climbing (The Reek, Mweelrea, Achill - or just round the lanes), Cycling (The Green Way), Water Sports, Angling (sea and river fishing) are all at hand. If you want to go out to explore Clare or Inishturk, the ferry goes from Roonagh, a mile away. And you're only 30 mins from Westport and some of Ireland's best eating, entertainment, and a fantastic golf course.
  • Dave's place is absolutely stunning and he's a very welcoming host. We couldn't have asked for a better few days, we'll be back for sure.

  • This house is amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice, plenty sleeping space, an amazing living room, a fully equipped kitchen and views that will take your breath away. It’s quite remote but that just makes it even better. There’s so much to do in that part of Mayo for the whole family. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

    Eileen2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fab house with outstanding views in stunning location! The house is nicely decorated, really well equipped and is in a truly beautiful setting. We arrived as a couple and enjoyed the peace and quiet to ourselves, and then had family join us for a few days - its like a tardis and you could easily get 2 families in. The house has tons of space so easy to be sociable and to find space too if you want. Louisburgh is close by and perfect for day to day supplies, Westport is a lovely half hour drive further along with big supermarket, great restaurants, cinema, boutique shopping - and some brilliant charity shops too. Dave is a great host and was quick to respond to any queries: helpful and friendly and has clearly put a lot of thought into the house and ensured that everything you could possibly need for a great stay is available. We loved it, and really enjoyed exploring the unique west coast area. Would go again at the drop of a hat - many thanks!

My place on the Wild Atlantic Way close to Louisburgh, it has 270 views to the islands and sunsets on the edge of the Atlantic, and to Croagh Patrick. It is by the beach, has a fresh spring water pond and all mod cons including wifi. Sleep with the sound of waves crashing to shore. Wake and climb mountains, trek or spend time fishing, swimming or surfing. Wind down in the evening by the fire or in the pubs and restaurants in Louisburgh. Or stay in with the fire, Apple TV, WII and boardgames.
This is a really modern family space, ideal for coastal living. We're 100m from a small beach and pier for crab and mackerel fishing or a quick dip. The nearest surfing beach (and surf) can be seen from the kitchen. Croagh Patrick, Mweelrea and Connemara are all in easy reach. The views are amazing from the sun room facing the Atlantic and the islands, whether watching the sun go down, the ever changing seascape and even in storms when the waves crashing below can be really dramatic. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking in and enjoying and the dining space can fit up to 10. In addition to the four bathrooms there is a fully fitted wet room with two showers for sandy people coming home from surfing or pier jumping. The views from the balcony upstairs are second to none: on a clear day you can see Clare Island, Inisturk, Inisboffin and Renvyle. And if you fancy a relaxing day in enjoy our many board and card games. There is also an Apple TV for Netflix etc, a DVD player and a WII to keep everyone amused.
There is plenty to do in the environs. The closest village Louisburgh is 6km away at the top of the road with some fab bars and restaurants. • A lovely house for a break away with friends. Amazing views, peaceful location and lots of space. Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Really lovely house, very spacious, the views from large sunroom were stunning, looking out to sea and to Clare island. Brilliant kitchen and lounge area. Lots of bedrooms. We had great stay

  • A tired family took a quick break one hours drive from our own home which wasn't too pressing. We obviously know louisburgh and surrounding areas fairly well. However we were awe struck by the special views from Jane's place. Constantly changing sky line , ocean line, islands emerging and disappearing every hour! Jane's place has a really pleasant atmosphere . We didn't venture too far. We quickly established a simple routine of greeting the boats in the harbour. Throwing rocks in the ocean , watching family movies on netflix and eating lots of treats ! This wee break was just what the doctor ordered. This was our first air bnb experience. I am nicely converted. We hope to return to Jane's place in the spring if she'll have us Thanks

    Caroline2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Janes home is just that. A home. And a beautiful one at that. Breathtaking views, all local amenities info in the kitchen and a truly outstanding location. Whether you want some down time off the grid or take the family / friends away for something special - this is the place. So much to see and do in the area yet you can just sit and watch the view in tranquility too. A must for lovers of the West. We will be back! (If Jane would have us!) Thank you Jane

    Wil2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious home with amazing views. Space is larger than appears in photos. Despite some stormy weather, we enjoyed the three season room with views of Clare Island and Inish Turk. The sheep and cows amused us all afternoon despite the inclement weather. The cozy family room with wood burning stove was a great place to play games, listen to music and enjoy some quiet family time. Jane is a great host and was very responsive in all communications. We would definitely stay again.

Perched on a hill overlooking the Atlantic, Clew Bay, Achill and Clare Island, the cottage has probably the best uninterrupted views in the West of Ireland. Recently built with all conveniences it would suit a family of 4 but can accommodate up to 6. 5 Minute walk to a private secluded beach and within easy distance of Carrowmore & Carrowinsky surfing beaches. This would suit anyone looking to experience the Wild Atlantic Way by bike or hiking. We are flexible on needs for breakfasts etc.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night. The scenery is fantastic, highly recommend staying here. The view out over the bay is very relaxing... perfect getaway spot to just relax. Sharon and Donal were great hosts, very helpful and friendly! 10/10 from us!!

    Declan2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend staying with Donal and Sharon in this cosy and quaint cottage overlooking the wild Atlantic with amazing views...although we could only stay for one night Donal and Sharon made sure we had everything we needed on arrival including freshly baked homemade brown soda bread still warm from the oven which was delicious ...fresh eggs and butter were also left out for us. Donal very kindly drove us to the local pubs in Louisville and collected us again later which we are seriously grateful for as storm Ciara was starting to make her presence felt. Really looking forward to staying here again soon Thanks for everything Donal and Sharon 🤩

Dry, cosy and bright renovated cottage with views of the Atlantic and islands to the rear and mountains to the front. Carrowniskey, one of the top surfing beaches in Ireland is close by (1.5 km) and Loouisburgh (6km) contains shops, pubs and eateries
  • A small house, with all the comforts, located in a magical place. A perfect stay to discover the west of Ireland.

    Eric2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and a fine, cosy cottage with a lot more space than it first seems. The location and views are brilliant, and Bobby was helpful and fast in responding. A few reviews mentioned the place was not as modern or full of amenities as expected; I'm not sure why. There's no TV, but why would you go to West Mayo to watch it anyway. The place was perfect.

    Domhnall2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful quaint cottage in a fabulous location.

    Jacqui2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bobby is a very attentive and very helpful host. Communication with him is very fast, simple and effective despite the fact that he is not on the spot. His house is located in a fantastic corner near the Atlantic coast where you can find fabulous landscapes. Thanks to him again for his hospitality and wonderful stay, we will definitely come back one day.

    Yohann2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy house. Brilliant view. Loved the piano, and all the jigsaws and books. Great place for cycling to the beach straight from the house, Had a lovely cycle down past the little pedestrian bridge to the nearest bit of beach, a nice 2-3 km cycle along the shore with the lovely island and ocean views to the right, before heading back to visit the lovely clapper bridge and up to the playground (handy for the 3yr old!) . Would love to come back again sometime.

    Fiona2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 5 nights and loved it. The cottage was very comfortable and we never tired of the fabulous view. The wonderful Irish west coast is on your doorstep here so it’s a perfect spot to walk, cycle, surf and explore. We didn’t miss the TV! Tea, coffee & milk were provided for our arrival and much appreciated. Communication with the host and manager was excellent.

    Genevieve2018-09-01T00:00:00Z

  • The house was great and the views are incredible to look at every morning. 100% reccomend. Even when its wet, cold and windy it's still a beautiful place.

    Jenny2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • I really cannot recommend this lovely place enough. The surroundings are absolutely stunning, fantastic views of the mountains, countryside and sea. The house itself had all the amenities and so many thoughtful touches; board games, a gorgeous fireplace, a well equipped kitchen and a comprehensive guide book to the house and surrounding areas. The house has speedy wifi, warm water and a telly with Netflix, while still managing to feel like a cosy cottage on the wild West Coast. Catherine was the perfect host, very accommodating to a date change, always speedy with replies and very helpful with directions and information of the area. If you are travelling through Ireland, this is the place to go!

  • Fab accommodation, in a beautiful place. Would highly recommend it

    Marion2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • My mom, husband and I loved staying at Gaoth na mara. It was our first time in Ireland and the first place we stayed in and by far the nicest! The space was so cozy and inviting. The cot for my one year old was prepared and very comfortable for him. I have shared a number of airbnbs and this was definitely one of the best. We loved the area. We took walks along the beach and road. My son loved watching the sheep, cows and horses. The landscape is stunning. We took a few day trips to various castles and landmarks, but our favorite part of staying here was visiting the local town, Louisburgh and eating at Tia and Louisburgh 74. Both are great options! We felt so welcomed and can’t wait to return some day. We also visited Westport, a town a little further away quite a few times. It’s a very pretty town with lots of restaurants and shops. I’ll admit it took us a while to get used to driving because of the narrow roads but this was especially difficult for us coming from the US and driving on the opposite side of the road. The house is very nicely decorated and has a lot of amenities. The kids room was a nice surprise as my son really enjoyed playing with the toys and we read to him from the books as well. Catherine was such a nice host and very understanding as we did change our plans a few times. I definitely recommend staying here if you want to get away and be surrounded by idyllic fields and the stunning ocean down the road.

    Clementine2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Spend an absolutely wonderful week in Catherine's little piece of paradise this month with my wife and two youngest (8 and 4) . The cottage was just perfect... it was immaculately clean, and the view from all four sides is simply breathtaking. The property is in keeping with the others in the area, but also delivers all those little pieces of luxury that make you feel at home and keep the kids happy early morning before those days exploring the beaches, villages and coastlines of the area... high speed wifi, large TV and super comfy beds... bliss! Catherine was a fantastic host, providing any help that we needed really quickly, and going over and beyond with recommendations, many of which we enjoyed. You also couldnt have asked for a more friendly set of neighbours. Everyone treated us like long lost friends as we strolled along the beach each evening , or fed the horses in the fields opposite. The weather as also so kind to us... we really didnt want to go home! Cant wait to make another visit to Louisburgh and when we do, it will be back to Gaoth na Mara! Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality :)

  • Beautiful cottage. Magnificent views from every window. Clean and well-equipped. Perfect place for de-stressing. Even on a wet day, gazing out the window with a fire roaring- what could be better.

  • Our week in this house was a dream. Everything was cosy and very clean. My kids loved their room with the toys and books. The adults enjoyed the sea view from nearly every room and the beautiful landscape. We would love to come back here.

  • This listing is exactly as described. It is next to the most wonderful beach. Within walking distance. It is a magical place to be. The house itself has everything you could desire. Plenty of everything. It even has washing up liquid and salt and pepper etc. Things you may not get at all self catering houses. So we really were delighted. Maggie was super to deal with. Very straight forward courteous at all times. There were plenty beds for all of us.. We were a party of 9. They were all extremely comfortable and cosy. We all slept very well. The scenery was beautiful. We went to beach 2 or 3 times a day. Morning and evening. It was very special. And never crowded. We climbed Croagh Patrick. We visited the Clapper bridge near by, Silver Strand and the Famine Monument near Doolough and Delphi. Stunning scenery. We also went to the cinema in Westport on the one wet day. Maggie's tips were great. We had a wonderful holiday. And wished we could have stayed longer. Don't hesitate in booking this property.

  • Our stay was fabulous in Louisburgh. The house was very spacious and immaculate. Nice touch with the firewood and logs as they came in handy. A great base for travelling around and our hosts were at hand for any questions we had, but to be honest the house was set so well, we didn't need to contact them!

    Pat2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in stunning surroundings. Has all the trimmings. Perfect for a large group. Spacious but very homely. Could not recommend Maggie's place more! For us it was such an ideal home for a group of 7 who enjoy having plenty of room and personal space to go about their business. It comfortably fit all of us without it feeling cramped. It was such a lovely little escape for a few days.

    Jamie2019-04-24T00:00:00Z

The house had everything we needed ( and more), and being so close to the beach and the town was very handy. It is also a good base from which to explore all over Mayo. Irene was a great host and replied to any queries immediately. She alos the best directions I have had the pleasure of following :). Three generations of the Gavin family have come back from Mayo feeling refreshed, relaxed and recharged.

  • I had a wonderful week at Carol's house though the weather was pretty Irish. The house with its window front and the surroundings were fabulous and I felt very comfortable. Thanks again to Carol, Christine and Seán for their help and the turf!

  • Spectacular views from this thoughtfully designed cottage. Great access to a warren of local lanes for long walks in the locality. 10 minutes drive from Louisburgh, and moments from the ferry to Clare Island.

    Conor2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The amenities are excellent, clean, and everything works! The decor is simple and tasteful. The views are spectacular and there are many sandy beaches nearby. The beach view out the front window is really just a view, however, not a beach that can be walked. Easy driving distance to many great sights, too many to mention.

  • Incredible location by the sea, perfect if you're looking to get away from it all or explore the beaches and scenery near-by.

  • Wonderful house in the stunning setting of Clew Bay. A very comfortable place to stay with all the comforts and conveniences of a modern home with the sea on your doorstep. Lots of outdoor activities in the vicinity and good food only a short drive away. Loved the house and it's location.

A family owned cottage in a scenic area 15 km from the historic village of Louisburgh. The cottage is situated at the base of Mweelrea, highest mountain in the west of Ireland and within walking distance of two 'Green Coast' beaches, Silver strand and White strand. Also located 1 km from 'The Lost Valley' guided tours, offering an insight into the cultural heritage of the area with a views of the Killary fjord and ruined famine villages.
  • Nora's cottage is set in a very pastoral corner of Ireland. The cottage is tidy and it has Mweelrea for a backdrop. Silver Strand is a place as well. The area is a hidden gem that is a feast for one's eyes.

  • Phenomenal hosts, cottage and location. Spectacular views all around. If you are interested in relaxing in Ireland this is the place to be. The house has all the amenities one could desire. The private room with 3-piece on suite bathroom. The room I had is nicely appointed and comfortable. The Beach is a mile on from the cottage while you’ll most likely pass the revered Crough Patrick and the town of Louisburgh on your way in to the cottage.

    Jim2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nora's spot is definitely a slice of heaven! Stunning views in every direction. We will be back as soon as we can. Forgotten what silence truly is. Perfect.

  • We loved our stay at Pat’s place, great location for traveling around the West of Ireland, very clean and comfortable. Pat was a great host and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again!

    Adelina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pat welcomed us upon our arrival. He showed us everything we needed to know about the house and also gave us some great suggestions of what to do and see in the area (there also was a very helpful booklet full of suggestions in the house). The place was clean, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the house had everything we needed. The house has a great view of Croagh Patrick mountain which is just a 15 minute drive away. The best part, by far, were the home made scones left for our breakfast! I will definitely be staying here again the next time I am in Mayo!

    Jindrich2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our few days, house perfectly located with easy access to the beaches and louisburgh. It was spotlessly clean and the games room was a hit with the kids. The welcome pack, especially the scones and chocolates for the kids were really welcoming on our arrival. We will be back

  • Highly recommend the house, area and host. The house makes a perfect base for the area, lots of beaches and walks to explore and Louisburg is a lovely village. Lots of useful local info in the house manual, we visited many of the suggested places in the village and beyond. The house has views all the way to Croagh Patrick and is very modern and comfortable (especially the beds!). Maggie was really helpful throughout our stay, we had a car breakdown on the way and arrived late to find the lights left on to guide us in the dark and was flexible about our check out too. We had a great stay and our kids are already asking when they can go back.

  • Nice place close to the wild coast and the mountains

    Alain2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine is a very caring and nice host. She welcomed us with delicious scones! Her house, in the countryside, is highly picturesque, and also perfecly clean and quite. The region all around the cottage is interesting and resourcing. We recommend!

    Virginie2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's Cottage is located in a beautiful, wide landscape near Lousburgh. The cottage has a lot of charm. It is very cozy and lovingly furnished. One felt transported back to another era. (Only drawback: the floor tiles in the bathroom, they do not look so inviting). Katherine herself is a very generous and helpful hostess and with her family made sure that we spent some very nice days in Western Ireland.

    Marga2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage located in an idyllic setting of mountains and meadows or graze the sheep of Jim and Catherine. Cottage very functional and comfortable. All the necessary is available including a real dryer, which allowed us to lock our laundry. A spacious master bedroom with a giant bed (~ 2 * 2m) and very comfortable. Great location, it allowed us to shine on the north of Connemara (hike to the national park + visit the peninsula of Renevyle) and on the south of the County of Mayo (nice national museum of Turlough, beautiful city of Westport, Amazing Silver Strand Wild Beach, beautiful mountain road between Delphi and Westport), and of course in 3 days we did not see the tenth. And in addition to all this a very warm welcome from Jim including a nice fire Turf (peat) waiting for us in the cottage and a basket of fruit, milk and the necessary for breakfast.

    Patricia2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine is a fabulous host. We made a late booking on the day having been rained out camping further south on the Wild Atlantic Way. We couldn't have felt more welcome - warm, cosy, flowers in vases and comfortable beds. We were given lots of information about things to do in the locality. This is a very special place run by lovely people. Highly recommended.

    Jenny2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real farm cottage - wonderful and pretty basic. It is equipped with everything one hopes to find - including a well-functioning heater. You can stay there well with 6 people. The view from the house and the landscape around it are incredibly beautiful! The surrounding area has beautiful beaches and cliffs to offer and the nearby town is still very quaint (if you follow the signs to the Lost Valley almost to the end you come to the Silver beach - a secluded beach with beautiful trails on the cliffs)! We were greeted by the hosts with great hello and hot tea and in the cottage burned the traditional peat fire in the fireplace. We really enjoyed our stay here (do not forget to try the hot whiskey in the pub and watch the charitable bookstore in town!). We have already recommended the cottage to our friends! This a true farm cottage - lovely and basic. The accommodation is overwhelmingly beautiful and offers many nice beaches and cliffs to explore (ask about Silver Beach - a deserted beach 20 min drive from the cottage). The owners greet us with the warmest smiles, cups of tea and the fire peat burning in the cottage. We had a lovely time here (try the hot whiskey in the pub in town and make sure you have a good look at the communal book store). We already recommend this cottage to our friends!

our home lies on a cliff beside the sea overlooking Clare Island, along the Wild Atlantic Way. We spend much time here, but are happy to share our home with like minded people. Enjoy world class beaches, links golf courses, fishing, hiking Croagh Patrick or cycling by clewbay. Watch surfers from the living room or get wet yourself. We hope you can enjoy our home as much as we do.
  • The home is in a beautiful location with views of the ocean. Neal and Brid were very welcoming and helpful. We will never forget this amazing opportunity.

  • A Rough Diamon by the Wild Atlantic You could not ask for a better location, on a windswept bluff with panoramic views of Clew Bay, Clare Island and the mountains of Mayo. This cosy bungalow may need a lick of paint on the outside but inside it is impeccable with everthing you require for a comfortable stay.

    Stephen2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is as described. The biggest plus and really breathtaking is the location and the view. Directly above the sea and completely secluded, the accommodation offers plenty of relaxation potential. A rental car is absolutely necessary, as in the surrounding area is really nothing.

The house was much larger then we thought. The yard is beautiful. The village is an easy walk with shops, pubs and a few good restaurants. Beach is very close by. Valerie was easy to work with and communication was brilliant. Highly recommend Clew Bay House! Thanks again again Valerie!
