  • This place is great for large groups. Communication with Conleth was always open in the time leading up to and even post our stay. We had a minor issue upon check in with the power that was resolved instantly via a quick phone call to Conleth. In terms of location this was ideal for what we were after. The house is located in a relatively remote area where we could switch off, that being said it was great to have Kilkeel a couple of minutes drive away as well as a local shop just minutes walk from the house. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially large groups looking for a break from the city.

  • We stayed one night in Conleth's beautiful house, a group of around 12 of us. The location is absolutely beautiful, the scenery surrounding the house is breathtaking. The house itself was perfect for what we needed. Each room was a very spacious double room, with an extra double bed provided in the upstairs area. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a large meal, the oven, fridge etc.. all in great working order. The 2 sitting rooms are large and comfortable, and the open fires make the rooms very cosy. Conleth himself is very helpful and available at all times. He made the stay very relaxed and the check in/out process very simple. We are already planning our next visit to this house, as everybody had such a great stay.

  • Beautiful, very roomy, very clean and excellently appointed large house in a really picturesque setting. Lovely & cosy and warm. Great sized bedrooms all with very comfortable double beds. Facilities were excellent and Conleth as a host couldn't have been better. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are planning to return again next year. Can't recommend this place highly enough - 5 Stars all round!

  • What a fantastic location. The house was very large and spacious with lots of bedrooms. Ideal for families or large groups. It was well kitted out with everything we needed. Thanks again!

  • Conleth's home is picture perfect and in such a serene and beautiful location. There are cows and sheep on the other side of the wall just outside the home. His brother was readily available and answered all our questions. I highly recommend this Airbnb home.

  • Beautiful house in an amazing location, thoroughly enjoyed our short stay (only one night) but hope to return again in the future.

    Paula2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Conleth’s home. Out of the four homes we stayed at in Ireland, this was by far our favorite. It was a massive home with plenty of bedrooms to choose from and had a lovely seating area with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Appliances were modern and worked well and the home was warm and cozy. We enjoyed watching the sheep and cows graze from our windows and enjoyed the privacy of the area. The location was terrific - close to town and close to a beautiful national park. We never ran out of things to do! Conleth was terrific in response time if we had questions. We also met his brother in law who was tending to the animals and he was a pleasure to talk to! I highly recommend staying at his home, you won’t regret it!!!

Fully refurbished bungalow situated in a very private location. The ideal location to explore South Down and the Mourne Area and beyond. Belfast is ~ 1 hour away and Dublin ~ 1.5 hours away.
Bungalow is adjacent to and behind the main dwelling (my home) and is set in private grounds.
  • Perfect place to stay,so perfect after two days stay two weeks ago we booked another three days last week. Bernies place is sparkling clean, warm, and has every facility you would need for a business trip ,or a holiday Fantastic

    Brendan2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bernie’s cottage is in a beautiful part of the world with the back drop of the Mourne Mountains and a five minute walk to the shops and esplanade/beach area. The cottage is set up to perfection and of a high quality. Her hospitality is second to none-with a welcoming bowl of fruit, tea/coffee and milk ready for your arrival. If you’re lucky, she may have even baked you a fresh loaf of Devine wheaten bread. Our only regret is not staying longer!

    David Antony2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely short stay at Bernie’s place with our 15 month old son. The property is spotlessly clean and quiet, set back from the main road with parking available. We didn’t have a car and the short walk into Kilkeel was handy. We received a warm welcome and the milk, cereal and fresh fruit was a thoughtful touch. The house heated up quickly and was very cosy - perfect for a grey, wet weekend! We really appreciated the cot and high chair for our little one.

The Green Holiday Cottages are NITB 4 star self catering rentals in the Mourne Mountains close to the fishing village of KIlkeel. Wee Home was the first of our self catering rentals to be be completed on the site of an 18th Century corn and flax mill. The Cottages are situated in Mourne (AONB) with lots of walking, cycling trails and paths to explore in the surrounding area. Located 2 hours from Dublin and 90 minutes from Belfast, a perfect place to explore Ireland's Ancient East.
From Wee Home you have the chance to explore the land that inspired the Narnia Chronicles, Percy French, and more recently has enjoyed being the landscape in major film productions namely Philomena and Game of Thrones. Kilbroney Forest Park, The Silent Valley, Tollymore Forest Park and Castlewellan which is host to one of the world's largest hedge mazes are all within a short drive. Both have access for walkers and cyclists. Wee Home has its own outdoor BBQ and Pizza oven. A perfect way to spend to spend an evening what ever the weather.
  • We had a wonderful stay at the "Wee Home". Mark and Jenny were extremely friendly and helpful, with everything we needed provided in the cottage. The pizza oven was a fun challenge and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit was a highlight. The location is a great spot to explore the area and we enjoyed trips to Castlewellan and Kilbroney parks. Belfast city is about 1 and 1/4 hours scenic drive and we would recommend the Titanic museum for a great family day out. A perfect spot for a minibreak!

    Joanne2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Clear and timely communication. Very easy to work with. The accommodation was even better than I expected and the location was superb. Highly recommend.

    Trevor2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect quiet home with relaxing grounds for a gathering of friends or family. I would definately recommend this wee home to any of my friends.

    Denise2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Jenny were always responsive, and had helpful information that made the experience even better than we could have expected. The rooms are very nice, the bathroom has huge tub and modern shower, the kitchen has the best appliances and there is a very spacious living area. Parking at the door, areas to walk and enjoy the scenery, and only 5 minutes drive from center of Kilkeel. It's a beautiful, peaceful environment but close to everything. We would stay longer and again in a heartbeat!

    Kathleen2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, tranquil stay at Wee Home with brilliant hosts. First time here and definitely will book again. Nice touches such as the cupcakes on arrival. Cottage was big but cosy, decor modern and surrounding area is stunning. We loved the fire pit at night and the river location is gorgeous.

    Donna2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent property, warm and welcoming. The 'wee home' is stylishly decorated and very well laid out with 3 good sized bedrooms. It was exceptionally clean and has everything that you can possibly need. Very cosy and warm especially when the log burner is on. Fully enclosed garden with fire pit, the children loved the opportunity to play on the slide and swing. Beautiful quite location. As travelling from England the milk and muffins on arrival was such a lovely welcome gesture and much appreciated. I would have no hesitation recommending The Green Holiday Cottages to anyone.

    Sharon2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to enjoy a midwinter weekend: A cozy, elegant and child friendly cottage just a stone's throw away from world class walking. Also one of the warmest houses on the island of Ireland I've been to!

  • Helen is a wonderful host! Her home is beautiful and it's a great location for exploring the Mourne mountains. She also makes an amazing breakfast! I would highly recommend staying at Fielys Brae.

    Joni2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Fielys Brae sits in a beautiful country location with spectacular views of the Mourne mountains. Helen was a fantastic host and we enjoyed our chat after breakfast! Breakfast was delicious and we slept really well in the comfortable bed. We'll definitely be back!

    Paula2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible value at this place. I would recommend Helens spot to anyone who wants to stay in the heart of the beautiful Mourne Mountains. The view alone is lovely, and my room was cozy and spacious and I was welcomed with a pot of tea. Added bonus was the traditional full Irish Breakfast—seriously a treat! Helen will answer any advice on what to do in the area depending on what interests you! Great hospitality, and a genuine bed and breakfast experience. Stay at Helen’s place and you’re in for a treat.

    Ashley2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Helens hospitality was warm and great. Everything was taken care of; from tea and sweet bread upon arrival, to valuable hiking suggestions and an early breakfast. When in the Mourne Mountains: stay with Helen!

    Karen2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a heartly weloming at Helens house and felt very lucky with this overwhelming stay: the house and the rooms are great, comfortable and with the best view directly to all the mountains around. We relaxed totally, slept really well, had a wonderful breakfast and enjoyed every minute of our stay! Totally recommendet! 5 stars

    Amelie2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in a great locationfor the Mournes

    Sarah2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Three of us stayed for 2 nights at Helen's wonderful B&B. Helen is a fantastic host and great fun! She worked hard to ensure we had a great time despite some inclement weather, everything from having a beer beside the fire outside to the cakes and crisps in the common area. Helen was a great guide and gave us lots of encouragement when we were heading out walking in the mountains. We will certainly miss waking up to both the beautiful scenery in the Mourne mountains, and definitely Helen's excellent breakfasts! Thank you so much for making sure our break in the Mournes was more than we expected :-) If you are travelling to this part of the country, I can only advise you to stop in for a few night's in Helen's B&B among the mountains, it will refresh and reinvigorate you!

  • We had a fantastic stay in Inge and Micheál's beautiful farmhouse on our cycle tour around Carlingford Lough. Inge and Micheál were incredibly welcoming, and their house conveniently located nearby the Carlingford ferry. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area, whether it is Carlingford Lough or the Mourne Mountains.

  • We had a cosy two night stay with our 3 boys, lovely location with beautiful surroundings and great views. Loved having the fire lit with a glass of wine in the evening and it's so quiet during the night which helps with a good night's sleep Paula is very welcoming and made us feel right at home! Would stay again

    Christopher2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay.. Paula is so lovely and welcoming. We loved the history of the cottage and the cosy fire! Would highly recommend !!

  • A lovely, cosy cottage ideal for exploring the Mournes (and even has a real turf fire). Paula is so welcoming, and full of enthusiastic local knowledge!

    Ann-Marie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location in the heart of the Mourne mountains. Paula is a superb host and so welcoming. The cottage itself is very cosy with a lovely fire and all amenities one could want/need. Plenty of local tips on places to visit in the area and where to eat. All in all a great stay in Co Down.

    Sean2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage with magnificent views. Paula is so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Next time we will stay for longer , came home well rested.

    Vanessa2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real gem in the Mournes. Description is spot on, and Paula has an eye for detail, for example having spare light bulbs, batteries, washing detergent, salt and pepper, wood for the fire, and a sewing kit - and more but I'd be typing lots!!! This cottage really feels like a home away from home. It's great for dog owners, our boys have had a blast here. This is our second time here and I'm sure we'll be back again. Thank you Paula, we have had a brilliant time.

    Emily2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Paula and the cottage are lovely!! So much love and detail in every corner of the cottage and perfectly outfitted. Paula not only warmly welcomed us, but also gave us many recommendations and checked in on us. Perfect place to rest and enjoy beautiful landscape. Thank you, Paula!

    Francis2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful modern and warm house, nestled behind the majestic Binnain mountain in a most scenic and rustic part of N Ireland . House had every modern convenience with a cosy stove, rainfall showers, under floor heating and plenty of bedroom & living space downstairs . Couldn’t fault it! Had 4 kids with us and you wouldn’t know they were in the house, although they quickly discovered the PlayStation & Netflix! Well worth staying in if you like hiking as there is amazing scenery n sights with 20 mins of the house. A car is a necessity due to its primitive location. Highly recommend it and we d love to go back!

    Elaine2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, relaxing, peaceful weekend in a beautiful home with spectacular views! We spent a lovely weekend at Elaine and Tom's place. It was restful and homely and the bathroom is better than a 5* hotel!! The place is bigger and better than the photos and in an excellent location for exploring the area. We visited Newcastle and Castlewellan and took the ferry across Carlingford Lough on the way home. Thanks for a fantastic weekend!

    Alison2019-10-28T00:00:00Z

  • ‘The Granary’ was a fabulous location for a break for our family. The cottage itself was stylish and beautifully finished, with every amenity we needed - including the added bonus of stepping stones across the river at the bottom of the garden! Mark was an extremely welcoming host - there were even daffodils and lemon buns to greet us. We would definitely recommend the cottage as a holiday destination - and there was easily enough room for a family of 6.

  • Aileen & Diana's cottage is a really lovely place to stay and a great bargain for a group stay. There were 5 of us and we all fit quite comfortably (2 double beds and 1 single). The space was clean and spacious. We had a nice sitting room to relax in and all the kitchen utensils we needed to cook dinner and breakfast. Communication was easy. We moved in and out at our own pace and without any complication. Finally, and perhaps best of all, the cottage is situated a short drive from either the Mournes, or the coast, or Carlingford. Two thumbs up and a highly recommended!

  • Lovely comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage with everything you need for little break away. All the benefits of rural living (peace and quiet!) in beautiful surroundings. But with the beach and everything you need like shops and restaurants only a short drive away. Very nice and accommodating hosts. Would definitely recommend.

  • Just as when we stayed last autumn, we were made very welcome in the Cottage. Although only a couple of minutes drive from the coast road we valued the tranquillity, particularly in the evenings when we could relax and look across to the Mournes. Hope it isn’t too long before we can return again.

    Roger2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hospitality, sparkling clean, amazing views, comfortable furnishings, lovely area, relaxing and rejuvenating!

    Yolanda2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, great communication, really easy to find. I definitely would recommend Aileen & Diana's place. We has a great few days walking in the Mournes with our dog, really great being so close to the walks and being able to have Missy with us. Will definitely be back.

  • Fantastic old farmhouse right on the lough with spectacular views! Ashley has really made this a home away from home. The house is fully stocked, spotlessly clean in a quiet area surrounded by amazing views of the lough on one side and the mountains the other!

  • This place is perfect location. House has everything you could ask for and they thought of absolutely everything one would need. The amazing basket that welcomed us was a special touch. Ashley was quick to respond and extremely helpful. I definitely want to stay here again!!

  • Ashley was one of the best hosts I ever had on AirBNB - the house was really big, spotless clean, and located right on the seaside. Very welcoming and accommodating as well as excellent communication. Thank you!

  • Wonderful house in a lovely quiet location

    Simon2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This home is immaculate in every sense. It’s homey and comfortable without feeling like you’re invading someone’s personal space. Lots of extra special touches like a welcome basket of snacks and drinks, lovely towels, and entertainment made us feel right at home. We were a little chilly during our stay, presumably because the house is right on the seaside and is older (therefore not very energy efficient) so make sure to bring extra warm clothing during the winter months! Ashley was very quick to communicate and answer any questions or concerns. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend to friends.

    Valerie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Seascape has a great peaceful location for a family getaway. The road out the front is very quiet, meaning it was nice to walk along with young children and the dog. The beach is close with lots of sea birds and seals, and there's lovely hills and other beaches within driving distance. The house itself is spacious and welcoming. We found there was everything we needed to cook big meals and then sit around a fire in the evening. We couldn't think of anything else we would have needed. We will hopefully be back again soon.

  • This place is great!! It was perfect for our get away. We had two families in this house with younger kids and the space was perfect. The house overall is kitted out really well and the furnishings are lovely. The view from the back of the house over the fields to the sea is gorgeous. On the other side of the house is the mourne mountains which are also stunning. The kitchen-dining-sitting room area is massive and perfect for everyone. There is also a smaller sitting room which is perfect for a quieter time! There is a brilliant green space out the front for the kids which is inclosed so really safe. We could sit out and drink coffee and watch the kids have a great time. Diane couldn’t have been more accommodating. Anything we couldn’t find or needed she provided straight away. Great for tips and local amenities. The beech is a lovely 10 minute walk down a country lane with little or no traffic. The beach itself is gorgeous and in August on a few lovely sunny days we were the only ones there! Great for swims and kids had a ball. You can drive down very close to it to which is about a 2 minute drive from the house. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back and would highly recommend the house and Diane.

Very safe, quiet and peaceful spot and of course very close to the sea - turn right for the sandy part at the end of the lane. It really is a stunning beach too, and wonderful for a decent walk. • Diane's Sandbanks 2 is a lovely property in a very tranquil spot, yet close to town for all your self catering needs and only a few minutes walk to a secluded stretch of beach! It is a modern, exceptionally clean and comfortable house with everything you could need for your stay from copious amounts of fluffy white towels to a wonderful brand new gas bbq. Diane even goes the extra mile....not just with the usual welcome pack most airbnbs supply but she had popped up stair gates, ensured plugs were safe for little hands and even left a few extra books and toys for our toddler to play with whilst we enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend it and suited our family perfectly.

  • I stayed here with my kids over Christmas. It was perfect. James had it decorated beautifully, Very festive. We Liked it so much, we stayed for the most of Jan... The house itself is very modern but cosy at the same time, Clean well laid out. (Open plan) Great for entertaining..🥂🍻🍹🍹 2 miles from the local amenities but quiet location to relax with the fam. The kids and I were sad to leave and I would recommend Green Hills Cottage to anyone. James was very pleasant and helpful, just a phone call away and local if needed. thanks James👌

  • Great stay in this cottage, absolutely beautiful home - definitely a home away from home. Very spacious, clean and lovely interior design. We had a stay with 6 adults & 3 babies and found there to be plenty of space for us all - would recommend for a family trip away! Thanks James for your great hospitality :)

  • One of the nicest Air BnBs we have stayed in. Exceptionally clean and modern house which had all the amenities we needed. James was a great host, replied quickly and very welcoming. Thank you!

  • The standard of the property exceeded our expectations. The layout is very user friendly and the quality of fixtures and fittings is excellent. Although there was just the two of us, the property would easily have comfortably accommodated 3 couples without feeling cramped. Although we saw James just the one time, he was charming. A subtle Irish sense of humour! I made a tongue in cheek observation that there were no egg cups and on our return later that day, a brand new set of egg cups was waiting for us! The location was lovely, nestling in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. We could have spent the week exploring and walking the beautiful countryside without having to travel more than an hour, including Belfast. We did go further afield, however, to the Antrim coastline but the drive was worth every mile! Northern Ireland has so much to offer and we will be back to explore more. Our stay was made all the more enjoyable thanks to James and his lovely property.

  • Gareth + Emma were fantastic hosts. They went above and beyond for us. We’ve stayed in many Airbnb’s throughout all our travels to Europe and theirs stuck out by far. Their hospitality was superb. Immaculate home, beautiful views and a very delicious and filling breakfast in the morning. They gave us food recommendations and even gave us extra biscuits to take on our drive. We explored the Mourne mountains during our visit so if you’re in for adventure this is definitely a solid location for that.
