A great daylight space nested on the edge of the woods. Be close to nature but also close to our house for modern convinces in our house. Please note this space is unplugged, it has no electricity, heat or air conditioning. There are full bathrooms for your use in our house, 125 feet away.
Our 165 sq ft Geodesic Dome - Day light with beautiful pine floor. Built from wood growing on our property. 100 feet away is the main house where there is a great country Kitchen and bathroom for your use. The Dome has no power or heat - so it is like camping. We have a great LED light for it.Very peaceful space where you can get in touch with nature and yourself. You are also welcome to tour our Organic Farm and during season, even help out and enjoy some fresh organic produce.
So there's lots of history and in the fall the tress turning color are breath taking. We are located between Litchfield, CT and Woodbury, CT. Woodbury is the antiques capitol of New England, with awesome restaurants and Litchfield has several historic sites and the White Memorial foundation - a 4,000 acres land preserve open for hiking.
  • Great place to get away from the world.

  • The dome is absolutely wonderful. The area and property is calming and perfect for people who love the outdoors. Plenty of blankets provided as well as portable lighting since there is no electricity. Clean bathroom and friendly hosts.

  • The geodesic dome is exactly as described, and the Litchfield area is wonderful. Robert is a great host, and the shared spaces at the farmhouse are friendly and welcoming.

  • Getaway Heaven!!!!!

    Anthony2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a fun and unique experience! The dome was very clean, and well prepared for our stay. Robert was extremely helpful, and even gave us some fresh tomatoes from the farm, which were delicious! We would definitely recommend staying here!

    Hope2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's place was a cozy, relaxing getaway for the weekend. We loved the glamping-style of the dome, and being surrounded by nature. We also spend an afternoon at Bantam lake, a beautiful spot that's only about 15 mins away from the place. Would definitely recommend the dome to anyone looking to get away for a weekend to relax!

Two private bedrooms and one private bathroom in our large shared house. Third-floor bedroom with twin beds and 360° views and second-floor bedroom with double bed and direct access to private bathroom. Relax in our outdoor hot tub. Enjoy Sunday flea market, antiques, hikes, and local vineyards. A perfect weekend retreat for one or two couples.
Our home and rental space reflects our family's personality. It's relaxed, informal, idea-driven, and welcoming. We have several multi-use rooms, a very spacious kitchen, a large deck and terrace, and ample parking. We live in a quiet neighborhood about 75 minutes north of NYC in an area of CT great for antiquing, wine, hiking, and leaf-peeping.
Quiet, small New England town with local lakes, nearby flea-market and vineyard. Lovely neighborhood for flat or challenging walk/bike/run (school with track and tennis courts is around the corner). Several nearby towns offer good food, pubs, parks, skating, etc.
  • thank you for letting us have the opportunity to stay at your place. My husband and I loved every moment of being in your house, looking at the arts and enjoying the comfortable environment. It made the stay different from any Airbnb. You guys made us feel like family. I hope we can do this again soon!!

  • My boyfriend and I had an incredible time! The house was so eclectic and charming, and we really enjoyed using the hot tub and fire pit to roast s’mores. Wendy was gone while we were there, but Chris made sure to take care of us and gave us lots of awesome recommendations for things to do in the area. Altogether, an amazing weekend!

    Julianne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Chris's home was an absolute delight. When we first stumbled upon this space on AirBnB, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. Windy is the most thoughtful, gracious host. She provided us with all the information we needed. She had excellent restaurant recommendations and was of great help. The house is incredible and has everything one needs. We had a great stay!

Classic, charming, and beautifully furnished, this stone "cottage" on Candlewood Lake, 70 miles north of NYC, is the perfect weekend retreat with lake views and beach access through nearby town park. Billiards, deck, grill, hot tub, Aga kitchen, and quiet forest setting. 5 minutes off route 7, 10 minutes from Danbury CT.
Classic, charming, and beautifully furnished, this stone "cottage" on Candlewood Lake, 70 miles north of NYC, is the perfect weekend retreat. Lake views from living room, pool room, and deck, with lake access (sandy beach, roped-off swim area with float dock, picnic tables, beach volleyball net, etc.) at nearby Lynn Deming Park just a mile away. At the house, you have pool table, lake-facing deck, grill, hot tub, Aga kitchen, and quiet forest setting. 5 minutes off route 7, 10 minutes from Danbury CT. The "gemutlich" ambiance of an original 30s lake house with its fieldstone walls, pine shiplap paneling, vaulted ceilings, wood-burning fireplace, and period antiques is what makes this house so charming. Flooded with natural light, with lake or lush green forest seen from every room, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the feeling of home. You can enjoy use of the entire house, deck, yard, and driveway parking for one vehicle. There's a Weber grill on deck year-round and hot tub right off the deck are yours to use--just please leave things clean and "as you found them" upon departure. Washer and dryer in basement available to guests booking for a week or more; otherwise, basement and garage are not accessible. Other than greeting the guests and giving you brief orientation, the house is yours to enjoy. If the lake is frozen solid and smooth in the winter, ice skating is always possible, and if there is a blanket of snow on top, then cross-country skiing is at its finest. In the summer, swimming, kayaking, and lounging in a beach chair by the waterside are your favorite pastimes, your host will accommodate your transportation to Lynn Deming lakefront park just a mile away. Or, you can rent a boat from Gerard's or Echo Bay Marina down the road and enjoy water skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing on Candlewood Lake. Things to do outside the community: ~ Farmer's Market in New Milford on Saturday mornings in the warmer months. ~ Many hikes in the area (Naromi Land Trust trails [(website hidden)], access to the Appalachian Trail + more.) ~ Pratt Nature Center, biking on Lake Waramaug, Elephant's Trunk Flea Market, Bank Street Theater, and more on Guidebook ~ Like to ski? The cabin is centrally located close to several ski slopes! * Thunder Ridge: a family oriented starter slope is about 20 minutes away across the NYS border in Patterson, NY * Woodbury Ski Area a family resort, has winter tubing and other fun activities...45 minutes from the cabin * Butternut in Great Barrington, MA is 1.5 hours away...a great family ski resort * Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, CT is 45 minutes away The only convenient way to get to New Milford is to DRIVE--and you really will need to rely on GPS to find it. However, if you have friends coming from NYC, the closest train station is Danbury, CT (about 20 minutes away) but the most convenient --because it is a direct line and does not require transferring--is Brewster, NY (about 30 minutes away). A cab from either of these places will probably run $40-$50, so usually not feasible. If you are coming from an airport on CT Limo, your stop in Danbury is at the Maron Hotel, where you might catch a $35-45 cab to the house. There is plenty of shopping on Route 7 in New Milford (Walmart, Home Goods, TJ Maxx, etc.) and your best grocery stores are Stop & Shop, Big Y, and Aldi. If you want to hike, you are near the Appalachian Train entrance in Bull's Bridge and Kent, and there's great hiking at several state parks: Lover's Leap, Kent Falls, Mt. Tom, and Macedonia are the closest and most convenient. The local park is Harrybrook, and just down Candlewood Lake Road South is a small park called Dykes Point which gives you a lovely path along the lake. For Memorial Day through Columbus Day (end of May through mid-October, the house is rented by the WEEK ONLY at $2500 per week. A daily price might show up on these dates but the house is indeed only available weekly in summer. However, if you see that a summer week is NOT booked 24-48 hours in advance, feel free to inquire about specific dates within that week (two night minimum) and we will try to accommodate if possible. Important: the house is normally occupied by a cat named Mr. Magoo. He will be off-premises during your visit (unless you WANT to have a sweet cat around during your stay) but anyone with cat allergies should be warned, or bring your own Zyrtek! Some people are sensitive even no matter how well the house is cleaned... House, driveway (parking for one vehicle), deck, hot tub, yard, propane grill, etc. are all yours to enjoy. Beach access, boat slip, and tennis courts are possible with pre-approved monthly rental. Washer and dryer in basement can be made available to guests booking for a week or more (steep stairs, so preapproval is required to use them!). The basement, attic storage, and garage are off limits. Other than greeting the guests and giving you brief orientation, the house is yours to enjoy! While the house is located in a secluded, almost "rural" area of New Milford, it offers modern convenience in that there is plenty of shopping just a few miles away on Route 7 : Walmart, Home Goods, Hope Depot, TJ Maxx, Staples, Peach Wave, etc.). Your best grocery stores are Stop & Shop, Big Y, and Aldi, and you can seek out your favorite libation at Classic Liquors or Nejame package store. If you want to hike, you are near the Appalachian Trail entrance in Bull's Bridge and Kent, and there's great hiking at several state parks: Lover's Leap, Kent Falls, Mt. Tom, and Macedonia are the closest and most convenient. The local park is Harrybrook, and just down Candlewood Lake Road South is a small park called Dykes Point which gives you a lovely path along the lake.

  • Admiring all of the antiques and imagining their stories. Cooking delicious meals on the AGA stove while it warms the home. Sipping coffee in the hot tub overlooking the lake while leaves fall and squirrels play. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. Casey was a great host and we love that she has shared her home with the world.

  • What an amazing weekend in the coolest most unique house we’ve ever stayed in! Highly recommend visiting this house in the fall- there’s the most amazing fall foliage and so many fun fall things to do near by including great hikes and fall festivals - I can’t believe how close it is to the Elephant Trunk flea market too! K.C was a great host and left us a detailed manual with tons to do in the area! She even let us hang out with her awesome cat Felix, the best air bnb cat around! Her house is so neat and funky with all her collected treasures and we especially loved using the Aga stove with hot plates as we’ve never seen a stove like this before- it was fun to cook on! K.C. also let us have lake access across the street so we could kayak (she provided the kayaks- you just have to double check with her first as it depends on the time of year) I would highly recommend staying here and I hope to come back to New Milford some day soon!

    Jenna2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stepping Stones is a beautiful home with a wonderful host! Location is ideal for lake activities and super close to parks and other attractions! K.C. Is an above and beyond host!

  • Our stay was amazing! The house has tons of charm and character and Casey was there to help us out whenever we needed. It was in a great location for getting to the marinas and there were plenty of options for food and drinks. We’ll definitely be back!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful time at Bob’s beautiful home. It’s spacious, full of natural sunlight, and extremely relaxing surrounded by nature. Can’t wait to be back!

    Fanny2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bob's home is beautiful and comfortable for a large group. The kitchen is bright and well stocked, and there are comfy couches surrounding a big fireplace. Bob was super responsive and helpful. We were lucky enough to arrive just before a snow storm, and we were able to enjoy the cozy home as beautiful snow fell outside. We then enjoyed sledding on the field below the house. We were two families with small children, and we fit nicely in the two areas of the house that have bedrooms. A lovely winter weekend.

    Logan2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place. Rustic chic at its best. Kent is charming. The Appalachian Trail passes close by, so we got to walk it for a couple of hours. The barn is gorgeous, with guitars and drums and a pool table. Guy helped us with a Christmas tree stand, and we had a cosy family Christmas with six people. Lots of good food cooked in the generous kitchen, and even used the gym a couple of times in the cold. A special place. One note: rooms are unique and private but also have unique doors, so don't offer a lot of sound privacy. Just something to know beforehand.

Our farmhouse was built in 1793 and renovated early in the 21st century. The house features 5 bedrooms including a master suite, ample common spaces, huge kitchen, enclosed porch, a luxurious pool, pond, and 16 acres of well-maintained park.
The house is filled with lovely 18th century details – wide-timbered wood floors, exposed beams, tiny nooks – but it's also roomy and comfortable. There are five bedrooms (one in the attic) and many common spaces – a living room, sitting room, open kitchen/dining area with a functional fireplace, enclosed porch, home studio, and large patio. The house sits on a sixteen acre plot, and much of that land is ready to be explored. There's also a pool next to our historic barn. The house sleeps ten. We recently installed solar panels on the barn, because we're committed to making Sweetbrier more sustainable. Please follow us on Instagram at sweetbrierfarm for more pictures and inspiration.
Litchfield county offers ample opportunities for hiking, dining, and shopping. There are plenty of antique shops, local farmers stands and farmers markets, nearby vineyards, and exceptional restaurants in the area. We can also offer tips for a private chef and in-home yoga classes!
  • A beautifully detailed and warm home perfect for our winter nature trip with a large group. Host was responsive and on top of all our questions/alternations. Great place to spend a restorative week with friends and family.

    Ryan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were three couples and six children ages 4mo to 7 years for three nights over New Years. The kitchen is big and well set up with a high end dishwasher and stove, so we had no problem cooking big meals with lots of cooks in the kitchen (figuratively and literally). There’s a Stop and Shop 10 minutes away. Liz and her local property manager were very responsive and helpful. The house was very well stocked, and had a number of child friendly things. The dining room fireplace works and is well maintained. We didn’t get to use the pool, but we did go sledding on the hill behind the house. Highly recommend for a group getaway.

    Judah Jeremy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great house for large family groups. Warm and cozy in the winter. 1793 character with modern amenities.

    Eric2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing old farm house fit three families very comfortably. Lovely home for a stay in Litchfield!

    David2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice time at this house! Comfortably sleeps 8 adults. Unique and loved how historic it is. We really enjoyed the dining room fireplace and cooking in the kitchen. Was drizzling and cold out but felt nice and cozy in the house. Would be fun to come back in summer and use the pool, patio, and sun porch. We enjoyed walking around the pond. Noticed great amenities for young families as well.

    Sara2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really funky and cool spot. Love how so many parts of the 1793 original building are still intact. Large, open kitchen with the nice fireplace was where we gathered for an early Thanksgiving celebration. Master bed and bath was amazing. The other rooms were ok- some odd issues with the heat and I couldn't have my kids sleep in the attic bedroom with bunk beds because the stairs were so steep. The little pond was a huge hit and the kids loved fishing.

  • This house is living history and the grounds are absolutely stunning. We stayed during fall and the trees were absolutely stunning on the property. We fished in the lake, enjoyed the fireplace and loved the history. Still close enough to town to go out for dinner or groceries.

Kent, CT is the place to be if you enjoy the outdoors; from hiking, birding, kayaking to fishing. It's also a great place for biking and walking as the scenery is beautiful. There is much to explore including gardens, farms and wineries/distilleries/breweries. This northwest corner of CT in the Litchfield Hills is a magical, laid back area of New England where you will find neighborhood bars, not clubs. Enjoy low key restaurants with gourmet food or cook at home with farm fresh ingredients.
Enjoy beautiful Litchfield County, CT from a well appointed art filled, one bedroom cottage that perches on a hill with sunset views of Hatch Pond. Access is by private road. Open floor plan in the living/dining/kitchen area with new stainless appliances. Very quiet and relaxing decor with large windows and deck looking out to Hatch Pond and wooded areas. Front porch deck overlooking Hatch Pond, shade garden, hammock, stone patio area, parking place for two vehicles, privacy, and four short miles to the town center of Kent. Stone fire place, hardwood floors, indoor dining area, gas grill and table for four on front deck during late spring to late fall. Fire pit on the stone patio. Kent is a four season area. Winter brings both down hill and cross country skiing, spring beautiful gardens, hiking and biking, summer fishing and swimming, and fall beautiful changing of the leaves, mums and pumpkins. Lake View Cottage is near many boarding schools including South Kent school around the corner, fishing, biking, on CT wine trail, Appalachian Trail, near Kent Falls and Bulls Bridge, antiquing on scenic Route 7, swimming in Lake Waramaug, great restaurants and shops in Kent, CT. This is the perfect place if you want quiet and relaxation, to read, sit by the fire or on the deck depending on the season, and just get away from it all. Kent is very low key and casual. If you are looking for night life or craziness this is not the place you want to book.......... Must be okay with cats as two sometimes live here (might or might not be there during your stay).............

  • A wonderful, peaceful retreat in the woods with fantastic views, yet close to town. Looking forward to returning during the summer to be able to enjoy the deck with it's amazing view as well as enjoy a campfire in the evenings around the firepit.

  • We had a lovely winter weekend getaway at Andrea's place. It was very cozy but plenty of space for our family of three (and then some). Andrea leaves the place incredibly well stocked with anything and everything you could need, from good, wine, chocolate and beer to toiletries and first aid. The surroundings are bucolic, very quiet and just what we had in mind for a getaway in the country. Also, all the AV worked perfectly, nice television setup with all the streaming services connected. Great place to get a away for the weekend!

    Arthur2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I greatly enjoyed our stay in Andrea's lovely home. It is close to Beacon, which is a plus, as we were traveling to visit the museum, Dia: Beacon. The location is also perfect for people who want to get away from the city—it's surrounded by trees and has some great nearby parks for strolls. The amenities were amazing. This was by far one of the best Airbnb experiences I have ever had. I hope to return in the near future. :)

    Rachel2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was probably the best airbnb experience I've had! Andrea's home was fantastic. The house itself is a beautiful, 200+ year old building which has been tastefully updated with modern amenities. Communication with Andrea was excellent and we were fortunate enough to be able to say hello in person shortly before we left. The house was extremely clean and Andrea added dozens of little touches to welcome us. Everything from leaving us two bottles of wine to recommendations on things to do in the area. The house is located on a very quiet street, surrounded by beautiful trees and plenty of space. This is the ideal place to stay for those looking to escape NYC for a weekend. We definitely hope to return in the future. Thanks, Andrea!

    Ben2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars and then some!! Andrea went above and beyond and provided everything we needed. Great communication and a beauuuutiful old home. Historic much?? Definitely Little Women vibes. Go off Andrea!! 💖

    Kyle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea has an amazing home and is a wonderful host. We loved the charming decorations and all the little personal touches. We could not have chosen a better stay in this area. Everything was very clean and organized. Highly recommended.

    Orlando2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome place. I've stayed at a few AirBnBs before, but this place raised the bar! The place was so cute, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Andrea left a nice welcome note and has the place stocked to the top with snacks and sundries that you may forget. After traveling all day, it was nice not to have to get coffee for the morning. While we traveled for a weekend of flea marketing, we could have easily just chilled at the house, WiFi and streaming services are available, but just enjoying the surroundings could have been just as nice. My sister and I are already making plans for going back. This is a perfect place for leaf peepers, a country get away, visits to upstate NY and CT wineries. If you don't like relaxing, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking to get away from it all - make a reservation today!

Our home was built in 1872 and is used to welcoming guests. In the early 1900's it was a bed&breakfast called Cedarhurst Farm. We are situated at the center of Dutchess County, about one and a half hour north of New York City. This puts you within easy reach of many places of interest in all directions. Beautiful rural towns like Rhinebeck, Hudson, New Paltz at the foothills of the mountainous Catskill area and the artist community of Beacon, to name a few.
Two rooms are available on the second floor, both face west. This listing, Cedarhurst 2, is for the smaller of the two. Both are bright and airy, filled with sunlight in the afternoon. In case both rooms are booked, the bathroom on the same floor, will be shared with other guests. We offer a simple breakfast, fresh coffee and a bagel, or similar, to get you ready for the day.
Places we love in our neighborhood... the mile-long Walkway over the Hudson, a refurbished rail bridge that offers a magnificent view of the massive Hudson river. A favorite classic diner in nearby Millbrook. A wonderfully situated restaurant with a large terrace overlooking the Hudson, called the Ice House. The impressive Dia Beacon, a haven for lovers of contemporary art.
  • Thank you to Rob and Yoko for a magnificent stay. I felt welcomed into the most fascinating warm home throughout my stay. You will NOT meet any other couple like Rob and Yoko. Wonderful people, very knowledgeable and extremely easy to talk to and ask questions. The house is big and sits on a beautiful scenic view of fields and extra land. The walk into the house as you walk up the original wooden steps dates back years ago in out of this world. As you enter the house it’s overwhelming and special. You find yourself eager to ask questions about this warm mansion. The walk up to the room is breathtaking and unique. The rooms are spacious, old but modern at the same time. Old radiator heaters that heat the whole house, the original windows and beams help your stay feel more at home and back in time. The bed was very comfy and if you leave the door agar, you may find Kepa at the bottom of your bed in the middle of the night. Yes that’s their cat. Very cute and easy to talk to 😄. Breakfast is served each morning with extra care and Rob and Yoko are always asking if you need anything else. I’m extremely grateful that I found a place like this but I’m even more grateful that I made 2 wonderful friends for life. Thank you so much for making my stay the most amazing stay I could have wished for. Worth every $. Thank you again. Jamie

  • Upstate NY charm! Very nice, peaceful house with a very calm, minimalist aesthetic. A perfect getaway. Very comfortable, spacious rooms too. The breakfast was great (they prepared fresh fruit and bagels each morning)! Rob & Yoko are very gracious and welcoming hosts. Will be back!

    Peter2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Rob's and Yoko's place for the second time. It felt like visiting an old friend's house. They were so welcoming and warm, and lovely with my lively pup., making sure we were both comfortable. My friends and I occupied both rooms with 3 adults and 3 dogs, one of them a puppy! Yoko and Rob took the commotion with grace which we were extremely grateful for. Besides their generosity and loving care they put into hosting humans and their dogs, the house is just beautiful inside and out with a lot of atmosphere and fun artistic touches from the hands of the owners. No doubt I will be back- hopefully soon! Thank you, Yoko and Rob!

Due to the Corona Virus out break we are asking all guest to follow our towns new protocol to have guest self quarantine for 14. The Wandering Peacock is a lovely property, decorated in an eclectic artistic style. Nestled within the forest foot hills of the Appalachia trails this converted barn is minutes away from downtown Kent and just walking distance from Bulls Bridge, local river, waterfalls and the Appalachian trail. The Wandering Peacock is the perfect New England get away.
The converted barn has kept its rustic feel while possessing all the comfort of a modern house. Two master bedrooms, with showers and baths, a partial bedroom downstairs, a full size kitchen and dinning room, a dance studio with full mirrors to use. The owners are artist and world travelers. Unique stained glass decorates much of the windows and lamps in the house. There are also oddities from around the world used as decoration. The grounds are private with gardens and a fire pit area to use. There is an open view of the river and Native American Indian reservation that is breath taking. And Bulls Bridge and the AP trail are walking distance from the property. There are 2 peacocks in backyard, they are living in a coop, so you can enjoy the company of this delightful birds. There are also seasonal berries, fruit ad vegetables to pick on the property. The house is only minutes away from Kent Village, and some of the best nature in new England; Kent Falls, Dover Stone Church and Bulls Bridge. Many farms are selling local products around, you can find fresh eggs, organic veggies and meet, honey, Dairy product and so on, everything localy produce with passion by local farmers.
Kent is a lovely town, with great places to eat, shopping, amazing nature, art galleries and more. Few lakes are the perfect place to swim or chill on the beach, if you like kayaking, rivers are offering o lot of good spot. There are a bunch of vineyards around where you can enjoy a tasting time of local wine in charming places. This area is definetly romantic but also a good gateway for athletic people who are looking for nature experience.
  • The Wandering Peacock is exactly as advertised. A cute restored barn curated for an Creative's escape. Theres tons and tons to look at from books about culture and art, to all the antique art on display. The stained glass touches through out the house are GORGEOUS especially on a beautiful sunny day. I do have to note that I believe spiritually that the barn is haunted. Weather that be ghosts of past animals or ghosts of old farmer, My girlfriend and I did feel spooked at night. But it's easy to get past during the day time. In the back there are two friendly peacocks who are so beautiful in person. Im glad they were friendly and even gave us a tail show! My only regret is the weather wast more beautiful. I was hoping for a lot of snow to feel all cozy, but the sunlight was great. I look forward to trying to return during the summer, where I could enjoy the property to its full potential.

  • Pam and Walter have provided the perfect home-away-from-home for all types of travelers. The kitchen is perfectly sized and appointed, the location behind Pam and Walt’s home is private and serene, and they are more than happy to help should you ever need anything! I can’t say enough about this stay, except I almost don’t want to post how wonderful it was in case it’s booked next time is like to visit! Thank you, Pam and Walt!

    Meredith2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pam's cottage is truly charming, you won't be disappointed! My husband and I were just there for the night so we could ski at Mohawk Mountain the next day; it was perfect for us and only a few minutes from the mountain. Pam's communication was prompt and warm, her space full of personal touches and so welcoming, and our only complaint is we wish we could have stayed longer! The space is small but really all you need and very clean, the bed is comfortable and the sheets soft, and Pam and Walter have thought of and supplied so many amenities like toiletries, kitchen basics, and a binder full of local recommendations. Pam was also wonderful to communicate with and accommodating with logistics when we needed to arrive late. Check in and out was incredibly easy and to top everything off, the cottage is in a beautiful area with a river rushing by. Thanks Pam for everything!

    Lindsay2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Friends and I booked this cottage as a gift to my brother and sister-in-law. They thoroughly enjoyed their babymoon at this location and are already talking about hoping to return in future. Pam was extremely accommodating and friends and willing to work with us on making the trip feasible to gift. My sister-in-law describes the cottage as adorable and cozy.

    Rebecca2020-02-15T00:00:00Z

Enjoy a game of billiards or ping pong! Two kayaks and a canoe for your use on beautiful Candlewood Lake. Many hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail only 5 minutes away. A short scenic drive takes you to bucolic New England towns with boutique shops, little bookstores and decent restaurants. We enjoy a periodic jaunt to Kent, Litchfield, Bantam and Washington Depot.
Close to Manhattan but far enough away to escape the hubbub. On the edge of rural but tucked into a quiet and safe neighborhood. Privacy without feeling isolated. You can go out on the lake or merely sit and watch boats go by. Good fishing and hiking. Restaurants, antiques, small shops. We like McKinney & Doyle in Pawling for Sunday brunch. Zaragoza and La Picolina in New Milford for dinner. Bantam and Litchfield are a short drive for artisanal bread, cheese and spirits.
  • Camilla’s place has gorgeous views, the town is small and quaint, and the space feels wholesome and private. The best aspects were the kitchen and the amazing fireplace. It was an absolutely lovely stay and Camilla was incredibly accommodating and quick to make recommendations for places to see and explore. I highly recommend!

  • Amazing! The place itself is spotless, the location is a DREAM, and the place is fully stocked with cooking supplies, full kitchen, bathroom supplies, and more! It’s a MUST! They even checked us in when we were running super late!

  • My husband and I just got back from a short weekend away at Camilla’s suite and it was just what we needed! Camilla is a great host and greeted us in the suite upon our arrival. The space was clean, modern, and cozy and the indoor fireplace and pool table were nice touches for the chilly nights in. We also went to a few of the recommended restaurants and enjoyed tasty meals. Camilla is quick to respond to messages and lives upstairs if you ever need anything. We’d love to come again in the summer to enjoy the lake and views from the front porch!

    Cat2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Camilla’s and her family’s house is absolutely beautiful. The guest suite was perfect for a quick weekend getaway from the daily hustle and bustle of the city. The views from the guest suite are amazing and we were able to watch the sunrise and sunset during our stay. On a clear night we were able to gaze into the night sky and see many stars. The suite itself was beautifully decorated and clean. It had everything we needed and was filled with extra little touches to make our stay even better. The goal of our trip was to have a relaxing and cozy getaway, and Camilla’s place allowed us to do just that. We truly enjoyed using the pool table and the ping pong table as well. Just some places that we had the pleasure of visiting and dining at during our stay: We had a wonderful Italian dinner at The Painted Lemon in Sherman, brunch at Johana’s Restaurant in New Milford, hiking at Lover’s Leap State Park, breakfast at The American Pie Company in Sherman, and just some truly beautiful drives through town. Thank you Camilla for allowing us to stay in your beautiful guest suite!

    Tanya2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful beautiful place. We will be back. Thank you, Camilla!

    Jenna2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Camilla has a gorgeous place. The view is outstanding and the area is charming with lots of outdoor activities. Camilla was very hospitable and gracious. We absolutely loved taking the kayaks and canoe out on the lake. Natural beauty abounds. We would definitely recommend staying here, and if I'm ever in the area, will definitely stay here again!

    Lael2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Camilla's place! The view from the lower suite opened to the lake and trees and was so beautiful. The suite itself was really big, and Camilla and her family did a great job of communicating and providing us with games and anything else we needed. Going down to the lake was also an amazing experience. A really peaceful, restful getaway with friends.

    Isabel2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was TRULY AMAZING!!! Words cannot describe the breathtaking view that we absolutely fell in love with, the apartment with its’ tasteful decor and abundance of amenities, and most importantly - the level of hospitality and service of Camilla. Camilla is a fantastic host. Our kids enjoyed feeding the chickens, to go looking (and eat) for tomatoes and to play soccer on the lawn. The place served as a great base for our day trips however we could easily have spend a number of additional days here. There is no doubt - we would love to come back!

One full bed room with showers and baths decorated with romantic stained glass, Turkish lamps and a romantic atmosphere. The house can be used as a shared space with either the owners or other guest. It includes a partial bedroom downstairs, a full size kitchen and dinning room, a dance studio with full mirrors to use. There are five spare beds that can be used for guest as well. There are 2 peacocks and chickens in the backyard, they are living in a coop, so you can enjoy the company of this delightful birds.

  • I had an excellent stay at this beautiful home. Abigail and Greg are very accomodating and their priority is to be sure that their guests are more than content with their stay

    Harriet2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Abby & Gregoire have built and designed a unique wonderland on their property. You will be delighted by endless delightful details in the decor and landscaping. They were a warm, welcoming and inspiring couple that made my friend and me feel at home. The Peacock room felt quite luxurious and mysterious. I loved perusing the collection of books outside the room and admiring the collections of intricate masks and other worldly treasures that thoughtfully adorn the house and yard. Perhaps my favorite touch of all was having access to a lovely espresso machine!

    Carrie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail and Greg's place is indeed artistically eclectic and delightful. I felt welcomed and at home. The description is quite accurate. Abigail stayed in close communication. Make sure you find the check-in directions posted on AirBnB if no one is there. They are quite clear and take the mystery out where to park and finding your way in. Also, the driveway is off the main road (Rt 7), not the side road that Google directs you to.

    John David2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was a perfect stay! The room was clean, quiet and unique! Abigail and her family were wonderful hosts and I will book there again when I travel through the area!

  • If you’re looking for a unique stay, that’s the place to go. Loved all the decorations and personal touches. Check-in was super easy. Highly recommend this place.

Colorful, sunlit bedroom in my private home for women or couple only. Cozy country cottage, extensive gardens. Share kitchen, bath and living spaces with owner. Near S. Kent School, 3 -1/2 miles from center of Kent, 4 miles to Appalachian Trail, in scenic rural Litchfield County.
People love my funny little house and I love it too. It's a 1946 lake cottage with lots of character, being lovingly renovated and with great views. The cheerful, clean and airy guest room has views in three directions - up the mountain into my gardens, out to the lake and through an old apple tree. It is uncluttered and colorful, with a good reading lamp, computer desk and empty bureau. The bed can function as a king-sized or as one or two singles - It has a roll-out lower trundle that can be raised to the same level as the upper mattress (and made up as one, with lovely soft sheets). Or it can be configured as two twins, either at the same level, or if one is left at the lower setting, it can be tucked away for more floor space during the day. Beds can be positioned side-by-side or rolled apart - Please let me know how you would like beds arranged. The bath is shared - it's a one bathroom house. Everything here is pretty much organic/no artificial anything, so you won't be assaulted with room fresheners, scented sheets or icky chemical cleaners. New mattress covers, pads, sheets, blankets and quilt cover the beds, which guests report are quite comfortable. There is great cellphone service in this neighborhood - not always the case in this mountainous area. During the week and in the off-season, one-night stays are fine. Peak-season summer and fall foliage weekends have a 2 night minimum, unless there is a last-minute vacancy or blocked days. Please note that this is not a hotel or commercial bed and breakfast, it is my home. I appreciate guests who fill out their profile and tell me something about themselves before asking to book the room . Do not turn into a driveway even if your phone tells you "you have arrived" unless you see the signpost and railing in the listing photos.
This is the country and there is no public transportation. It is just plain beautiful here - woods and water, mountains reflected in the lake, quiet and dark at night. It's not fancy or pretentious or overdeveloped, just nice. The historic Bull's Bridge, one of the few still-operating covered bridges in the state, is around the corner and is a sight to see when the waters are rushing by. Kent is full of permanently protected open space and it's a short drive to access to miles and miles of hiking trails from easy to challenging. It is dark and quiet here at night. Kent Falls and Lake Waramaug are nearby along with art galleries, antiquing opportunities and great restaurants.

  • Karen's place is a beautiful home in a picturesque location. Karen is welcoming, friendly and great to converse and share stories with. Me and my friend felt very at home and going into town for Halloween was the best experience. We felt like locals as we joined in trick or treating and spoke to all the shop keepers. I can't wait to visit again 😊

  • My husband and I loved our stay here in Karen’s cozy cottage in a quiet neighborhood. It is set back off a beautiful road across from a huge pond and located just minutes from beautiful downtown Kent! Small home but a very pleasant stay! Karen is a warm and a thoughtful host. She was very prompt with her correspondence and greeted us when we arrived. Karen made herself available to get to know us, and graciously opened her kitchen to us for breakfast. She always had great suggestions of where to eat and what to see in the area. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Karen! <3

Each room has a private HVAC unit, a beautiful new toilet and shower or tub, and original wooden floors. The house has a small back deck, overlooking the lawn and the field, perfect for a quiet breakfast or sitting in the sun with a favorite novel. It's off the beaten path, with a pretty hop yard, garden, and open fields, to get some time in the country. • We've stayed at Jennifer's several times now as we come to visit our family in the area. We've come to think of it as a home away from home, a relaxing, clean and very comfortable place to come back to at the end of a full day of playing with a busy baby and his parents! We've never been anything but completely satisfied. This was our first winter visit and on arrival Jennifer had the electric fireplace going, very cozy and warm on one of the coldest nights of the year. Much appreciated in addiiton to all the other comforts provided.

Located just two hours north of New York City, our cottage is the perfect getaway for those seeking room to breathe. A midcentury gem, built into a wooded hillside, with airy, spacious rooms.
Take in the views of the home's surrounding two acres from one of the many picture windows. Enjoy time with friends and family around the long farmhouse dining table. Cook up a meal in the spacious kitchen then watch some TV in the back den. Cozy up to the fireplace. Nap in the master bedroom (queen) or additional downstairs bedroom (full). On the second floor, find rustic wood ceilings running over a beautiful third bedroom (queen), a study, and a modern half-bath. The mossy green lawn encircles the house: a perfect spot to see wildlife during the day - bluejays, deer, chipmunks, and the occasional fox - or to take in the stars at night.
The home is located just three miles from the village of Kent - a great place to wander antique shops, peruse bookstores, or drop into a cafe for a bite. Visitors flock to the area to hike the Appalachian Trail, fish for bass on Hatch Pond, take in the fall foliage at Kent Falls, ski at Mohawk Mountain and Thunder Ridge, go canoeing, cycling, ice-skating - the list goes on - and it's all within a short walk or drive. Our home is also perfectly located for visiting parents of students at any of the many nearby schools: an easy walk to South Kent School, and a quick drive to Kent School or Marvelwood School.
  • Charming and quiet house, well appointed kitchen, and a quick drive to town. Thanks for a great stay, I hope to visit again!

A spacious, very quiet, completely private first floor room with its own entrance at the back of my 1844 Italianate Victorian. There’s a queen bed, 2 upholstered chairs, and a wood table with 4 chairs where you can bring in food, your laptop, or borrow a game or jigsaw puzzle! The half bath is on the first floor, with a full bath (shower, no tub) on the second floor. The access and use is completely private.
This sunny room is large but very cozy with 10’ ceilings, reading lamps for reading in bed, an antique Hoosier cabinet containing coffee and tea making equipment with a variety of coffee and teas, a small fridge, a corkscrew with wine glasses, and a bottle opener. There’s a queen bed, lots of pillow options, and 2 upholstered chairs. The table offers plenty of space to work or draw, bring in food or play a game. The back yard and patio is a quiet place to relax with a table and chairs, and a swing seat hanging from the sycamore tree. The half bath is on the first floor, with a full tiled bath (shower, no tub) right above it on the second floor. This access is up one flight of stairs (they are somewhat steep and shallow, the old servant's stairs) and is completely yours alone, with nothing shared or access to or from the house. New Milford boasts one of the loveliest greens in New England. I'm in walking distance (under 5 minutes), there are many wonderful restaurants, a movie theater, live theater, fun shops, great breakfast spots and a newly opened walking/biking trail along the Housatonic River. With Roxbury and Washington to the east, Kent and Litchfield to the north, and so many other charming towns in the area, you’ll be centrally located for wining, dining and adventure. My home is situated between Canterbury School and the town green, and is a 5 minute walk in either direction. Saturday mornings host a vibrant farmers market from 9 to 12. Fresh plants, veggies and fruits, breads, beer, cider donuts, goat cheese and goat soap, natural pet food, local meats and farm fresh eggs are all available from local vendors.
Very quiet, the room is on the back of the house with little road noise. Parking is in the back as well and completely safe.
  • Room was spacious but cozy, beautiful house and neighborhood - we really enjoyed our stay!

  • We had a wonderful time at Pat’s place. New Milford is a lovely little town and the perfect place to begin our road trip through New England. Pat was a great host - very quick to respond and very accommodating with our loose check-in time. We loved the room and private bathroom in this beautiful and historic house. Would stay again!

  • We had a lovely stay for the night at Pat’s place. Pat met us in person and talked us through everything in the suite, as well as giving us some brilliant recommendations for dinner and drinks in New Milford. The town is really cute and there’s plenty to do there. After dinner we made the most of the board games cupboard and had a great nights sleep in a comfy bed. Thanks Pat!

Nestled in the Housatonic River valley, this 1880 house is full of charm and character. The perfect location for an anytime getaway. A short hike to the A-trail. Ten minutes to Mohawk Mountain ski area. UPDATE: If you are a nurse, doctor, or health care professional needing temporary housing near Sharon Hospital, I am offering need-based discounts for those tasked with keeping our community safe. Please contact me for long-term rates and accommodations. I will give preference to LOCAL persons in need of housing and shelter. Additionally, if you are on rotation at the hospital and concerned about cross-contamination, but only need housing 3-4 days per week, I will pro-rate the long term for the days you need and NOT book around you so that you may rest assured the residence is vacant during your absence. Additionally, if you are a student, traveller, or other person who suddenly finds themselves stranded because of travel restrictions, delays, closures, or health issues; or, you are seeking shelter from populated areas; or, you have a family member nearby, I will provide appropriate crisis related discounts to accommodate you. If you are seeking refuge from NYC and are coming to our community to shelter, please do so with respect and caution. Tell me about your plans to quarantine when you arrive and if you have had any significant exposures. Our community is friendly and open, but we also want to know that you are coming with our safety and yours as a priority. An outbreak is not the time for a vacation. The rental unit is isolated from the main house, is cleaned and disinfected after every guest and regularly, and is away from close-quarters lodging and high-risk crowds and contamination in more heavily populated areas. There is a 3 acre yard, quiet screened sitting area, and for the time being, there is meal delivery from a local restaurant. This is an 'in-law' apartment in a larger house. There is a separate entry, and all areas are private and dedicated to guest occupancy only. The booking will include two private queen bedrooms, a living room with dining table, a kitchen, bath, and 3-season porch for sitting and entertaining. The house features wood flooring, crown molding, and antique cast-iron radiators.
The NW Corner of Connecticut is rural and secluded, but also convenient to so much! My property is only a mile or so from the Appalachian Trail for those hikers who need a break from tents and lean-tos; but it's also only 20 minutes from the Wassaic station on the Harlem Valley Line to NYC. You'll be close to a wide array of arts, crafts, outdoor, and shopping activities as well as several of the private schools like Hotchkiss, Kent, Salisbury, and Marvelwood. The Trinity Retreat is about a ten minute walk across the river and Music Mountain and Sharon Playhouse are each about 15 minutes by car.
  • Very hospitable and Informative about what's In the area for food and activities. Cozy and spacious environment.

  • Clean, quiet, comfortable and spacious. Just a few minutes by foot from West Cornwall’s historic covered bridge and the villlage. Our host Angela very kindly left some basic food amenities for us (coffee, milk, butter, eggs, etc), which was great to have in the morning since there are no grocery stores in the town. We would definitely stay there again!

Fancy something a little more unique? Tired of the usual? Come and enjoy a one of a kind converted tobacco barn filled with unique artwork and industrial lighting - plus a grand piano! We are located in the beautiful Litchfield Hills surrounded by great walking trails and local eateries- two pubs within walking distance and an Italian deli truck just down the road. Within two hours of NYC, this is an ideal getaway. Come and see why😀
The main living area is just six feet from the road up two steps . The bathroom and shower are on the main floor with the bedroom up a flight of stairs with a rail.

  • This is a nice place with a fire place and very clean comfortable spaces.

    Kate2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a family Thanksgiving gathering at Krzysztof's house and it was perfect for us. The house is clean, well-laid out and decorated, and the kitchen had the space and almost everything we needed to cook and eat. The location is peaceful and beautiful. Krzysztof was easy to communicate with. I would stay there again and would recommend it.

    Karin2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home is deceiving from the outside. Each room is very large and most comfortable. The kitchen had more than ample work space and for the length of time we were there we found ourselves in need of the washer and dryer which was in the basement. Being able to watch netflix was a plus. We would go back should the need arise. Thank you.

    Sue2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful home in that it is in a terrific location, it is spacious, it is located in a quiet area and it is very clean. Considering this with the low/reasonable cost and its an excellent value and a home anyone wanting to take advantage of Kent, Lake Waramaug, Washington Depot, etc. should consider. I am a former AirBNB Super Host with several properties in Nashville, TN and I promise you that this property has been done very well in every regard and I strongly recommend it. Good luck!!

    Andre2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
