Places to stay in Horsley
Our little cottage is in a stunning location. The cabin is at the bottom of a small garden that gets the morning sun pouring through the windows as it looks out over beautiful beech woodlands, that are glorious all year round. We feel that we are permanently living in a holiday cottage. We have an amazing hot tub in the garden that shares the view, that guests are welcome to use too. There is a living room and well equipped kitchen guests can use and a massive bath with shower in the bathroom.
Our home is in a gorgeous spot for visiting the Cotswolds. We are surrounded by lovely walks and only 100yds from a fab local pub serving delicious food. We run a mobile Bar company with an old London Bus so are away a lot. It would be good to share our space with others even when we are not there. We know how lucky we are to live in such a stunning part of the world.
There are loads of lovely walks without the need to drive anywhere. We have several art centres nearby, and are a short walk into Nailsworth, which is full of quirky shops, cafes and pubs. We are near Badminton, Cheltenham and Gatcombe for horse events and Westonbirt Arboretum for lovely walks and concerts. Bristol is also only a 40 minute drive away.
  • Thank you Helen and partner, we really enjoyed our stay in the cabin! Beautiful house and the hot tub is amazing 😊 Thank you for all ur great advise on places to go! You were a fab host 😊

  • Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights, the bathroom you have to share and is upstairs so in order to use it you have to walk through the house which felt a bit odd but Helen and her partner are so relaxed and laid back and welcoming it wasn’t an issue at all. The hot tub was so lovely and we sat in it both evenings. There was a kettle in the bedroom and coffee and tea which was a lovely touch . We used their kitchen the second night and cooked which was lovely. Can’t recommend it enough.

  • We had brilliant stay on Helens lovely cabin. She was very helpful and friendly! The cabin was great location with plenty walking routes to go around and nears a nice small town. Thank you!

  • What a weekend! Really lucky with the weather which was very helpful for all the lovely walks recommended by Helen! Gave us good places to eat and the place was perfect! Such welcoming hosts couldn't have had a better weekend!

  • The cabin is in a beautiful little village with lots of local amenities including lovely cafes and restaurants within walking or driving distance. The cabin feels private but with amenities easily accessible in the house, which is also beautiful! We felt very comfortable in the cabin even during cold rainy nights, and were made to feel very welcome by Helen and her family, who gave us lots of local tips to keep us occupied. Easy access to the hot tub was the cherry on the top. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Lovely little cabin, with great hot tub bonus! Friendly couple, with very helpful local tips. Nice, little village with pub nearby and further places to eat and drink within walking distance. We enjoyed a trip to Stroud farmers market and a lovely walk on the Cotswold Way. Gloucester cathedral is well worth checking out also. Thanks for a fab stay!

  • Helen’s cabin was a cozy and beautiful space to spend some time. Helen and Nick were both extremely hospitable, guiding us around the area and it was great getting to chat and get to know them! The hot tub is, of course, fantastic, and the pubs, restaurants and walks around their home were perfect for a weekend getaway. We hope to spend some time at the cabin soon!

Our beautiful apartment is surrounded by stunning countryside - just waiting to be walked or cycled. It comfortably fits two, has a large kitchen, cosy living area plus bathroom. Outside is a sunny garden area. Dogs are welcome.

  • We really liked our stay at Deborahs place! It was superclean, with a big kitchen. The house itself was more spacious than we expected. The surroundings are really beautiful and there are lots of opportunities to take a walk. The only thing that was missing for us was a closet to put our clothes in. And one tiny tiny thing was that a separate "showerhead" in the shower would be nice, even though the rain shower is really good too :). Would definitely recommend this place!

    Nedda2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amazing location. Fantastic space, very clean and stylish.

This is a 1750's cottage on a country lane in an extraordinary location, 20 minute walk to the small town of Nailsworth, and a pastoral walk through the abundant waters & garden valley leading to Ruskin Mill Centre & Cafe (best homemade food around!)
This is a 3-storey cottage, with an overview from kitchen and sitting room of tall trees and luscious green hillside The close proximity of Ruskin Mill Trust (see below) puts us in the heart of all that inspired the vision for young lives, land and waterways.
For instance(!) I pop into the village health shop on my birthday and they donate me fresh cream to celebrate, I return to the cottage and someone else has left the corresponding perfect apple pie. In short, heartfelt neighbours living their joy, painting, making music, planting veggies & flowers, circle singing and dancing and rambling walks. Ruskin Mill Trust has transformed this Valley over the course of nearly 50 years. It is a truly delightful and beneficial presence in this Community. My now-grown children were inspired by Ruskin Mill classes as part of their core curriculum in college (and Alisdair, one of the founder's sons -see below- was their college principal!). A little history - "The seeds of Ruskin Mill (Educational) Trust were sown in 1967, when Robin and Barbara Gordon transplanted their young sons Aonghus and Alasdair from the hothouse of the Ruskin Centre for Art Appreciation in Venice to the cold-frame of a dilapidated former textile mill in Gloucestershire. They had fallen into fertile soil. Within the steep, wooded valleys of the Severn escarpment, a thousand years of the wool trade had bequeathed Horsley and Nailsworth a built environment of exceptional quality, a pioneering spirit and a keen pride in design and craftsmanship. Over the next fifteen years, they were energised by the inspirations of three men whose visions had helped shape the lives of the Gordon family: Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. By 1984, they had germinated into the Ruskin Mill Centre for Arts and Cultural Regeneration. In that year, pupils from nearby Cotswold Chine Special School helped restore the mill's water-wheel. The next year, two more joined what was soon to become the Living Earth Training Course. The Living Earth Course combined biodynamic agriculture in a market garden with the craft curriculum sourced from the Arts and Crafts movement, the insights into human development provided by Rudolf Steiner and a commitment to responsible stewardship of the land for future generations. This curriculum, the so-called Descent into Matter, accessed the four elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire through the three Kingdoms of Nature: - Animal - leatherwork, felt-making and weaving - Plant - basketry, carving and green woodwork - Mineral - pottery, stone carving, stained glass and metalwork Students boarded with local families, and received additional support through anthroposophic medicine and associated therapies. Crucially, students were constantly immersed in the commercial activities of the Mill: the small craft workshops, cafe and other retail outlets. This braiding of practical education, home-making, commerce and environmental awareness gave them the unique therapeutic experience of transforming their environment into useful commodities, for exchange within the market economy. This vision has remained at the heart of the Trust's work ever since." Ruskin Mill Trust says: "This is how we want our world to be: Each individual experiences meaningful relationships with universe, earth and people and has the potential to shape their own future."
  • Heather is a very attentive and interested host and her cottage is so cosy. I had a lovely stay in a very comfortable room and a nice chat over breakfast. Just sorry I was only staying one night but hope to be back again

    Andrew2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience my 4 week stay has been. This is NOT your usual Air BnB experience (pristine room, facilities etc etc.) If you want that, then look elsewhere. This is actually something so much more. It's a very comfortable en-suite double room in an 18th century family cottage set in the most beautiful, secluded Cotswold valley. Heather is the most wonderful welcoming host and I was warmly welcomed by her and her family and friends (and Ollie the Cat). From the first moment, I was made to feel welcome and at home and was allowed to treat the house as one of the family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a down-to-earth, back-to-nature totally chilled out experience!

  • Stunning location, genuine hospitality.

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying at Heather's cottage. It is a lovely country cottage which is spacious. The room I stayed in had an ensuite bathroom with a shower which was a great feature. Heather is extremely welcoming and made me a cup of tea upon arrival! I would definitely recommend this property to anybody wanting to visit this area. Heather also told me about a nice walk from the cottage (which I did when I had checked out).

    Eleanor2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely welcoming house, enables you to have an easy and relaxing time, lovely for a well trained dog (that gets on with a cat) as there are plenty places to take them, as well as the house being pet friendly.

The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living room: This bright and airy space is full of character and charm, including a bay window, wooden flooring, an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and vintage and antique tables, all complemented by wonderful artwork. There are two sofas, a Freeview TV with a DVD player, and a DAB radio; Dining room: This elegantly presented room is an ideal space for entertaining. This part of the garden descends to one last lawn area, a lovely tranquil space which provides stunning views over the rolling hills and Cotswold countryside beyond. Free on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage and throughout the hamlet.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • This cottage is incredibly beautiful and cosy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again!

  • What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage. We enjoyed the proximity toTetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel !Thankyou!

  • We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat. It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hoar frosts on the 2 days we were there.

    Paul2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pear Tree Cottage gives you everything you need for a perfect Cotswolds stay. For our winter stay it was cosy & utterly charming. A really delightful place.

    Lindsay2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic cottage in a lovely little village. We were welcomed at the cottage by Kevin who showed us around and let us know he was available should we need any help at all. There is a lovely log burning fire with enough wood supplied to use for one night, we bought more wood from a supermarket ten minutes drive away.

    Georgina2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful little cottage in the cotswolds. Perfect location for exploring the rest of the area. Lovely clean and cosy cottage with a wonderful fire for the evenings. Would highly recommend

  • A fantastic home away from home in a quiet village just outside Tetbury. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped - we couldn’t have asked for any more. We will definitely return for more cosy nights in front of the fire!

The Five Valleys converge on Stroud and contain some of the most beautiful countryside Britain has to offer. Butterrow Gate is also well placed for exploring further afield, with the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham both within easy reach. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!

Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.
  • Great, special and quirky space. Amenities were great and the place was sparkling clean, would definitely recommend and stay again. I imagine it would be spectacular in the summer. Jut watch out for stepping right onto quite a busy road where traffic comes roaring past. Parking was also tricky.

    Lou2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Property was lovely and perfect for a few days away. Tip: don't park opposite the property as you will get a note from one of the neighbours, also take your own milk as this isn't provided. Great stay and great location.

    Joanne2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated, great homely feel and everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

    Anna2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage and it’s more beautiful in real life with an amazing view. Would definitely recommend and return. Not much off street parking but we didn’t mind parking down the hill and walking up. Worth a visit for sure!

    Eleanor2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful winter break at Butterrow gate. The property is gorgeous, very quirky and has everything you need. It is also clean and well presented. The location is great for exploring Stroud and other local villages. The tips provided by the host were perfect. We loved the farmer’s market, the antiques mill and local walks. It is worth noting that the property is on a busy road and you may be kept awake by traffic if you are a light sleeper. We slept like logs from all of the walking! Xx

    Lucy2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at the cottage for a week while exploring the Cotswolds. It was such a lovely place to stay. It is exactly as it looks in the pictures small and super cozy and wonderful. We had a really good time. The place was in a good location if you had a car to explore all the surrounding towns. Without a car the cottage it a little but above the town and therefore is a bit less accessible. Contact with character cottages was easy, check in and out was no issue. The only negative feedback is that the place was a little low on essentials. When we arrived there wasn’t any coffee for the coffee machine and there were no other supplies for cooking other than olive oil. However the kitchen is very sweet and easy to use for home cooked meals. We also weren’t informed beforehand that the washer and dryer machine didn’t work and didn’t find this out till arriving, I thought this would have been great to be told earlier in order to organise our washing. Otherwise the place was the picture perfect cottage and we would definitely stay there again. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone considering it.

Little Culver’s front door opens from the lobby into the living room. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: A beautiful, spacious room, adorned with antique maps and artwork, which has a stunning Gothic window with a window seat, and a Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. There are two leather sofas, plus a bench seat, and a SMART TV with a freesat box and a DVD player; Kitchen/dining room: A stylish, contemporary room that overlooks the back garden. There are two single beds, a chest of drawers, and a white Eames chair; Bedroom 3: A charming room, which contains a single day bed, bedside table, desk and chair; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. A door from the kitchen leads out to a patio and a large, enclosed courtyard garden, which catches the late afternoon sun. There is a table with seating for six, as well as a chiminea and a charcoal barbecue. Free on street parking is available a short walk away in the village.
Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. The stunning restaurant accommodates parties of up to 85 people seated and has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto Minchinhampton Common. Minchinhampton also has an excellent butcher's shop and an organic cheese shop: L Taylor & Sons (www.taylorsminchinhampton.com): For nearly a century L Taylor and Sons has been supplying the highest quality meat to discerning customers. The quality of the shop has been recognised with a Cotswold Life Butcher of the year award; Woefuldane Organic Dairy (www.woefuldanedairy.co.uk): All the products are made by hand in the farm dairy in time honoured ways. The unpasteurised cheeses change throughout the seasons as the milk varies depending on what the cows are eating.

  • Great location, right in the centre of the village. Had a great stay and would love to go back one day. Sad to have to leave at the end of the holiday.

  • Had a lovely stay in Little Culver. All was as advertised - plenty of space for 5 people, very comfortable and stylish. Loved the original features of the house. Thoughtful touches like chocolates and biscuits on arrival were appreciated and the key safe made our arrival stress-free as travelling from London. Would definitely stay again if travelling to the Cotswolds.

  • Gorgeous cottage! Lovely combination of classic country style and modern decor. Perfect amount of space for 5 adults and the surrounding villages are delightful. Would definitely return. Thanks!

  • Beautiful place in the Cotswolds. Very charming, and spacious enough for our family of 5. We would definitely go back.

  • The perfect pad to explore the Cotswolds, set in a cute little village. Loved the treats and the garden was so beautiful to sit in and enjoy the rest of the British summer.

    Leo2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house In the quiet quintessential English village of Minchinhampton. We rocked up with 5 people and found there to be plenty of room for everyone. The Garden was well kept and a really chilled out place to hangout in the sunshine. No negative comments here! The one thing I would say is to bring cash with you because many of the local establishments don’t take cards.

The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London. Grange Cottage is a large semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage, which sits on a steep slope at the top of a rural lane, and benefits from stunning views. The front door opens into the conservatory, which leads through to a well laid out ground floor area: Conservatory: This room enjoys lovely views over the garden to Woodchester and beyond, and has two wicker chairs; Living room: From the conservatory, a step leads into the characterful living room, which has an exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, oak beams, and alcove shelving with a selection of local books. There are two two-seater sofas, a small arm chair and a window seat that looks out over the valley. There is also a SMART TV with a DVD player; Reading room: The living room adjoins this pretty room, which has French doors opening out to the garden. There is a small writing bureau, two chairs and a hamper of games; Kitchen/dining room: Steps lead up from the living room to the kitchen, a spacious room with a wooden dining table and seating for six. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric oven, a six-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a hand blender; Utility room: A convenient space for boots and coats, which contains a washing machine/tumble dryer and a freezer; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first-floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with high ceilings and exposed oak beams, which contains a king size bed and fitted wardrobe, and has nice views of the woodland behind the cottage; Bedroom 2; This bright room enjoys a sunny aspect, with views across to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, and contains a large single bed; Bedroom 3: Contains a day bed, which is made up as a single bed. The window seat is perfect for watching the sun set; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep spiral stairs, without a handrail, lead up from the first floor landing to: Bedroom 4: Another lovely eaves rooms, with exposed beams and panoramic views over the Woodchester Valley Vineyard and beyond. There is a double bed, fitted wardrobes and a free-standing flatscreen TV. The door to this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs and it is not possible to put a stair gate at the top of the stairs, so this room may not be suitable for young children. The main garden area is at the front of the cottage, enclosed by Cotswold stone walls, and is mostly laid to lawn, with traditionally planted cottage garden borders and a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There is a patio area outside the conservatory, with an outdoor table and seating for six, which provides spectacular views across the valley to Woodchester and benefits from glorious sunsets. A lockable shed is available upon request to store bikes and other outdoor equipment. Steps from the back door lead up to a gravelled parking area, with space for two cars.
  • A gorgeous cottage with lots of character and stunning views. We had a lovely cosy weekend with fires (make sure you pick up enough kindling from the local supermarket) and walks through the woods (wellies necessary!) to the pub, finished off with brunch in the well set up kitchen. Be prepared to climb a very steep hill if your car can’t make it up!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grange Cottage is very comfortable, warm and cosy. It is a classic Cotswolds cottage with great views over the valley opposite. The location, while up a very steep hill, was excellent - - a short walk through the wood to the fantastic Amberley Inn - - and no issue with access with our car. The log burner was a welcome addition on the cold evenings we spent there.

    David2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your fabulous cottage. It was a beautiful warm, cosy and very clean property with views to die for! I cannot thank you enough for sending back our Google Chromecast so quickly after we left it behind in the property, it arrived in the post today. That is what I call a first class service! Funny thing was that we didn’t even need it as Netflix was already provided. I would like to highly recommend Character Cottages for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway.

    Sachin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had everything you could ask for - 4 beautiful bedrooms with lovely clean bed linen and comfortable beds. Fantastic views and a cosy log fire with idyllic walks around the area. It was very quiet and peaceful and just what we needed as four mums trying to get some relaxation time away from hectic lives and young children. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house located on a serene hill. Quaint details were added throughout the house which made the experience all the more wonderful. The place was super clean! The only downside is that it is located on a very steep hill & a bit too narrow & difficult to drive up. It was a very good stay regardless :)

    Maznan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Fantastic views. Cottage up a steep hill. Pleasant walks from the cottage. Low ceilings but that's to be expected when you consider when it was built.

    Mark2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant cottage, all as described! Even though it rained quite literally the ENTIRE stay, we didn’t really notice because the house was so nice and had everything we needed! Thank you!

  • If your looking for a quaint well appointed traditional English cottage go no further!! It’s right here! A spotlessly clean, charming, cosy, scenic, comfortable home away from home. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog(s) and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction As you approach Walkley Wood Cottage through the winding lanes of Nailsworth, you will notice how the town and surrounding properties are almost hidden by the secluded woodland valley to the east of Stroud. Proudly perched on the side of sleepy Shortwood Road is Walkley Wood Cottage, a distinguished 19th century property with rustic golden stone that immediately casts a warm and welcoming aura. Ideally situated, this cottage is the perfect base for exploring the tranquillity of the surrounding Stroud Valleys and the wider Cotswolds, while guests are also in easy walking distance of the cheerfully eclectic town of Nailsworth. If you’re looking for somewhere to totally relax and unwind, then Walkley Wood is the perfect Cotswold home for you. As you approach the cottage through the cast iron gate and down the stone steps, you will notice a small outdoor table and chairs set down from the lane behind the dry-stone wall. Guests are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the warmth of the summer months in this compact but delightful sun trap. You may find yourself admiring the beautiful architecture and delicate Georgian windows, this cottage was, after all, built in 1852. Although the exact history of the cottage remains largely a mystery, it has been suggested that the building may have been used as a pub many years ago, which could explain the origins of the kitchen skylight. Either way, it’s nice to consider that many happy memories have been created within these historic walls! Inside, Walkley Wood really is the perfect holiday home. Devoid of fussiness and frill, Karen has struck the perfect balance between homely-cosy comfort and refreshing simplicity. Each floor is brought to life by a sprinkling of quirky vintage features, while guests can simultaneously enjoy a bright and Scandinavian-inspired minimalist feel. The living room is the real heart of the property. A log-burning stove immediately creates a wonderful cosy atmosphere, with soft blankets and cushions scattered over furniture to help guests make themselves feel at home. Just a short walk away is the artistic town of Nailsworth, a gem in the heart of the Cotswold valleys. A largely overlooked town, Nailsworth has a fantastic and unspoiled selection of boutiques, bars, pubs and cafes, and really does offer some of the best food for miles around. There is a small patio table and two chairs that guests may use for breakfast, lunch or an evening glass of wine if they wish! Hut on the hill is located in a small hamlet on the outskirts of Horsley. It is very peaceful and quiet. A beautiful base for walking, sightseeing or just generally relaxing in the Cotswolds! Our Shepherds Hut sits on top of the hill with outstanding views overlooking the Nailsworth Valley and beyond.
The Shepherds hut sits in the corner of the field over looking our chickens, where you're welcome to collect you're own eggs for breakfast (as long as they have laid some!). From the hut your open to lovely walks of the surrounding areas and only a 15 minute walk to the nearest pub and local shop which sell the famous Horsley Sausages - again great to have with your breakfast. The hut comes with a double electric hob, kettle, toaster and microwave. There is no oven in the hut. We also have an eco fridge which is a cool pot outside the hut big enough to keep the essentials cold for your breakfast. Parking is available for one car within a 10 metre walk from the hut. The hut is fully secured and has an electric heater if the Great British weather doesn't come up trumps for your stay.
The Hut on the Hill on situated near the Cotswold town of Nailsworth, a few miles drive from Stroud (with its famous farmers market) and a short commute to the Cotswold way and other attractions such as Badminton/Gatcombe horse trials, Cirencester and Westonbirt Arboretum. Nailsworth has an abundance of independent coffee shops and quirky treasure troves to pass your time. We have several chickens situated near the Shepherds hut. These are cordoned off by an electric fence (don't worry we don't have a cockerel so you won't be woken by them).
  • Beautiful, relaxing little hut in a cute location with super easy check in.

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gorgeous little hut, tastefully decorated. It has all the amenities you need and the hosts leave it stocked with tea and coffee and little treats. The views are lovely. It was winter when we visited and an electric heater kept it warm and cosy. If you are there in the summer there is space to sit outside. All in all a lovely relaxing break.

    Hannah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute little shepherd hut, the views from the window & door were amazing. We stayed over new year & it was a little misty first thing in the morning, but still wow. The chickens welcomed you as soon as you opened the huts door by running up to the fence opposite & looking at you I would definitely stay here again. The bed was super comfortable as good as a 5* hotels, we had 2 brilliant nights sleep. The little electric fire that looks like a log burner was very effective & kept us nice & toasty, we turned it off before we got into bed & we were very warm, through out the night maybe a little too warm, but we just took the beautiful blanket off us. I loved the little touches like the kilner bottle with the milk in, the tea & coffee which were provided as well as the little boxes of cereals & chocolates. We had a lovely couple of nights away & would recommend it to anyone who wanted a few nights away in something different. I’m sure the countryside walks would be spectacular on a nice crisp day or a lazy summer afternoon. Ian & Lizzy were on hand if we needed them & Ian came to say good bye before we left. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful hut on the hill.

A modern house in a quiet cul-de-sac with stunning views of the beautiful Cotswold countryside. Very good size room with tea/coffee making facilities. Private bathroom (occasional night time use of loo by lodger, until end of March 2020). A continental style self service breakfast is provided in the kitchen/diner. Nailsworth centre is a 15 minutes walk. Bus stop is a 4 minutes walk with route into Nailsworth, Stroud which has a mainline train station. Train to London Paddington is just 90 mins
I am a life long yoga/meditation teacher and can offer private sessions. I am a vegan and I maintain a vegetarian household (with the exception of Chessie, the cat). Chessie is not allowed into bedrooms, bathroom or kitchen, therefore I ask that you keep doors closed please. In the hallway of the main entrance, there is an under stairs space for outdoor shoes.
There are many walks from the house, including into the woodland and down to a lovely country pub, The George. Nearby is Forest Green Rovers , the world's only vegan football club. The famous Woodchester valley with the incomplete mansion and lakes, is a walkable distance. Nailsworth is a lovely little town or a large village with many independent shops, a variety of restaurants and a super market.
  • Girish is a really welcoming host, his house is very clean and tidy and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is large & has a very powerful shower. The views from the bedroom and kitchen are great over looking the valley. Chessie the cat is very friendly and was quite happy to stay in the spaces she’s allowed in. Girish has a variety of leaflets with information on Nailsworth and places to eat. I was attending a yoga course in Nailsworth and Girish was happy to give me directions to walk to the location on the paths that crossed the valley. I’m looking forward to staying in his home in the future when I’m attending another course.

  • This is a perfect place to stay in Nailsworth and especially for going to Ruskin mill as the walk is really nice. Clean, quiet, nice views, and Girish is great and happy to help out. The cat is adorable!

    Anja2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Girish's house is really great, with amazing views from the room, a beautiful bathroom, it's warm and clean and Girish is really friendly. Also, the cat is super cute. What more could you want?

    Anja2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Recommendation for a stay on Nailsworth. Very nice room with beautiful view as the house is located in Forest Green up the hill (perfectly located if you plan to watch the local football team). Girish is a very nice host and he makes you feel comfortable during the stay.

    Patrick2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Girish and Chessie (the cat) were very welcoming and friendly. All the information about food and services in the area are laid it in front of the tidy bedroom and bathroom. An amazing view greets you in the morning.

  • I stayed at Girish's house because I had some business to attend to in Nailsworth. The house was warm and clean, the bed comfortable, the shower fantastic, the location convenient, the view great, and to top it all Girish is a lovely man, very friendly and helpful. And he gave me a vegan breakfast. Highly recommend.

Enjoy our lovely private ground floor studio-style room with plenty of space. Separate shower room & kitchenette area. Large, powerful shower, comfy bed with cotton sheets, fast Wi-Fi & beautiful vintage decor. Easy access via private entrance & parking. We provide everything for continental/ cereal breakfast with fresh coffee & OJ in the cool 1940’s cabinet with kettle, microwave & toaster. Great for exploring the area by foot, cycle or car. Lots of local info from friendly hosts if needed!
Our hillside house is set in a 3/4 acre walled garden and is a busy, vibrant family home. We are surrounded by nature and still have easy access to local towns. The lovely, generous guest room forms the lower ground floor of our house and has its own private entrance. Perfect base for walkers, runners, cyclists, golfers, event goers, foodies, naturalists, culture or just exploring! We are very mindful of our guests privacy and peace - and we are kept busy with pets, kids and various comings and goings, so will stay out of your hair unless you need us!
We live in a lovely timber clad house set in a 3/4 acre walled garden in a beautiful rolling valley running between Nailsworth and Stroud- both great towns to explore with an award winning Farmers market, local brewery (with pizza oven), great arts, pubs, music scene and lots of independant shops and cafe’s. We have direct access to footpaths through a nature reserve behind the house (endangered bush crickets!) up to Amberley village and beautiful Minchinhampton Common with its free ranging cows and ponies, ice cream factory, visiting circus, pubs, golf course, great views and kite flying. Or use the footpath down to the Nailsworth/Stroud cycle path, which in turn leads into the lovely canal tow paths. Great for mountain biking pretty much anywhere; golfing at Minchinhampton; walking & trees at Westonbirt; birds & nature at Slimbridge, horses at Gatcombe & Badminton; culture & shopping at Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester. Or go large in Bristol! Last, but not least we are within walking distance of the mysterious Woodchester Park; or even up to spooky Hetty Pegler’s Tump....
  • Very nice area and room. The wee breakfast they left out was beaut

    Jenny2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Lovely little touches in the studio. Excellent location for exploring the local area with good pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

    Laurence2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay here in this cosy, comfortable space. The location is stunning also. The bed was really comfy and we loved the gorgeous chesterfield sofa! I will say that it is worth taking a shower cap if you have long hair and won’t be washing it every time you shower. The shower is an exceptionally powerful monsoon type and it was tough to keep my hair dry! We were out for most of our stay so never met the hosts, but Tom was always on hand via text - I asked to borrow the iron and it was in the room by the time we’d returned from our walk. The breakfast touches were delicious and having a mini fridge was very useful. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return! Thank you.

  • Lovely and luxurious studio flat.Very cosy, clean and tidy ...I will recommend to anyone as they are indeed super hosts.

    Chukwuemeka2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Not a single negative point to make from our 3 night stay. The accommodation is larger than it looks in the pictures, but remains a cosy hideaway for chilly evenings. It's full of interesting bits n bobs whilst the bathroom is more than adequate inclusive of a powerful shower. Comfy bed, comfy sofa, comfy table and chairs at which to eat your provided breakfast whilst watching the birds at the feeder opposite. The hosts provided tips about the area which we utilised, however there is so much within walking, hiking, or short driving distance we were spoilt for choice. Loved it.

    Marc2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stylish and spacious studio - the interesting furnishings make it feel particularly comfortable and relaxing. It is in a great location for walks and places of interest. The breakfasts and excellent shower are real treats. Daisy and Tom are very friendly and helpful .

    Kate2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay with Daisy & Tom! I loved the space, the location for walks, the privacy, and a fantastic pub close by! (The Black Horse, Amberley). I certainly hope to return.

  • When visiting my daughter in Horsley during the day, I found a great place to sleep and freshen up at Jo's. She's very hospitable and friendly.

    Joost2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jo is very friendly and open with the use of her cottage (even trusting us with her vinyl records!) and genuinely dog-friendly. We found The Hog pub (5 mins away) excellent. Jo had great local knowledge which made our walking trip a great success.

    Simon2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, fascinating house in the heart of a gorgeous Cotswold village. The house was spotless, and so convenient, with Westonbirt Arboretum only 10 minutes away, and and the village at the front door (including a wonderful cheese shop a few paces away). Communication with Emily was easy and quick. The house is so cosy and the kitchen so well equipped, we hardly left it the whole weekend. Beds were also very comfortable. I can’t recommend Emily’s place enough, and would love to stay there again!

Light airy outside room in the garden with a separate entrance. The room has double bed, with a separate shower and toilet. Available for the guests is a microwave, small fridge and kettle with an assortment of tea and coffee. Cereal and fruit are available in the room for breakfast. Home cooked vegetarian breakfast (£4.00) can be ordered. Off road parking is available and access provided via a side gate to the room. WiFi is available and there is a TV in the room.
This is a room that is separate from the house and you have your own side entrance to the room. There is a small patio out the back of the room and with fields and woodlands nearby, we are within walking distance from good woodland walks. Dursley is one of the routes on the famous Cotswold Way walk, which is one of England's finest National trails. Cam and Dursley train station has hourly trains to Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham. Dursley has two Indian restaurants that are eat in or takeaway, a couple of Chinese takeaways and an Italian restaurant. Good local pubs and 15 minutes away the Electric Picture House in Wotton-Under-Edge. Stroud is a popular market town 15 minutes drive from Dursley where interesting and quirky events are hosted throughout the year.
The room is detached from the house which is a 1940's semi-detached property on an older estate situated between a red brick school and park. The back of the property borders fields with an outlook onto the woodlands. These woods have many walks and run for miles around Dursley and along to the next village.
  • How understated, described correctly as a room in the garden, however it felt much more than that. Very comfortable bed, nice thick towels, warm (I actually turned the heating off in February) and cosy. Shower room was spacious and spotless and although no kitchen as such, with a fridge, microwave and kettle you don’t really need much else. I would recommend and I will be back!

Sunny, double room in a tall Victorian end of terrace. Perfect for those who want a cosy base right in the centre of Stroud. Breakfast is 'help yourself'. In a big busy, friendly, family, cosy home, with kids, 2 lodgers, cats and fish. Warm welcome assured
Small sunny double bedroom This room on the 3rd floor contains a 4ft 6" double bed, bedside shelves, a hanging rail, a corner desk with lamp and a stool. There is an eco radiator or fan depending on time of year. The shared bathroom is a half landing away with a bath, electric shower, loo and sink. There's another loo next door to the bathroom too. A breakfast of tea/coffee, cereal, toast and fruit juice is included in the price if you stay less than a week (you help yourself). If you're here longer then please provide your own food (our generous discount reflects this). You are welcome to use the kitchen for cooking. We have WIFI which you are welcome to use. The house is a large family and shared 'end of terrace Victorian' home. Its a mixture of classic, contemporary and growing children style. We have 3 cats, lots of fish, several children/young adults and lodgers. The house is by no means 'perfect' - guests can expect a clean and tidy room, with the rest of the house cleaned professionally weekly and kitchen/bathrooms attended to more often. We pride ourselves on a warm relaxed atmosphere for both family and guests which doesn't equate to minimalist immaculate surroundings. Please note there are lots of stairs, so the kitchen is in the basement and the bedroom is 3 floors above.. We're right in central Stroud, minutes from the station and all the shops and restaurants. Parking is available behind the house or on street in front of the house (visitors permit needed except in the evenings and on Sundays). We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Stroud is an 'alternative' town with interesting shops and cafes, alongside some of the usual high street shops. The countryside round about is particularly lovely and there are many walks that can be done from the house. We're ideally placed for the award winning Saturday farmers market, Stroud Subscription Rooms, Centre of Arts and Science and Lansdown Hall (all within 3-7 minutes walk).
  • Really lovely room and Natasha was really welcoming.

    Florian2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Natasha's house has a lovely lived-in feeling and is full of character and I loved looking at all her artwork on the walls. While there were several people in the house (as well as cats, fish and the newest addition to the family, a cute labradoodle puppy!), it is big enough for you to find a quiet space when you want it. The bedroom while small was adequate for my needs and the comfortable bed gave me a good night's sleep. The location of her house is great, only a minute's walk to the town centre on a fairly quiet road. Stroud is lovely with lots of quirky and creative shops to browse and lots of friendly people to help you on your way - a great community spirit!

The Retreat is situated on Woodchester Valley Vineyard in the Cotswolds, close to Stroud and 1 mile from Nailsworth town with many restaurants, walks, shops and supermarkets. It offers spacious accommodation with stunning views over the valley, a fully equipped kitchen, log burners in both the kitchen and sitting rooms as well as the full sky TV package in 2 separate rooms. As this is adjacent to a working vineyard, regrettably no children under the age of 12 can be accommodated.
The master bedroom offers a super king size bed which can be made into twin beds upon request.
We are located 1.5 miles from the bustling town of Nailsworth, which has an abundance of restaurants, cafés and pubs for breakfast, brunch and dinner options. We are 3.5 miles from the market town of Stroud which boasts one of the best farmers markets in the country every Saturday. The spa towns of Cheltenham and Bath are within 45 minutes, and the area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and those looking for a base from which to explore the South Cotswolds.
  • We had such a wonderful stay here. Although there are only two bedrooms the communal space feels like the house is much larger. There are gorgeous log burners and the house is lovely and warm. We stayed for Christmas and the host had set up a beautiful Christmas tree with lights for us, and couldn't have been more helpful with various changes and questions we had in the run up. Thanks to you all and we hope to come again this year!

  • A beutiful house with outstanding views. Well equiped, cozy and clean.

  • Had a fantastic stay at the retreat. A beautiful house with lovely views. It was incredibly spacious for just 4 people. The bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully appointed with large showers and baths. Great enclosed garden for our little dog and also big garden out the front to enjoy. You are literally staying within the vineyards. We did the wine tasting tour at the vineyard, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Woodchester valley wines were superb! The tasting room is next door to the property. There are some great pubs nearby but not within walking distance. A lovely place to stay if you like wine and want a relaxing time! Highly recommend!

    Emily2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, incredible views, great facilities and space. A very quiet and secluded house in a stunning location, with amazing views across the valley. Tremendously peaceful and restorative.

    Alex2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place has the wow factor. The pictures don’t do it justice. The living room and kitchen are both huge and are great entertaining spaces. The kitchen and the living room both open out onto the front garden and drive which was perfect as the weather was so good when we visited! The bedrooms were a great size and exactly what we needed. It is a tad steep if you’re walking up, but it was generally fine and if you can’t be bothered with that then the local taxis were more than happy to take us home. The view over the hills is also fantastic - such a nice view to wake up to. Highly recommended. Gail was really helpful in the lead up to our visit and throughout!

The views outside the room are stunning. Would definitely recommend this room to anyone staying in the area.

The barn was recently refurbished and sits in 3 acres of fields and gardens. Surrounded by beautiful Cotswolds countryside, this is the perfect location to retreat and unwind. Everything you need for a comfy stay is here including a fabulous wood burner and stack of logs. There's plenty of great walks on your doorstep . Nearest pub is the award-winning, cosy Hog at Horsley with great food and many local beers. From 20th March we will be solar powered.
Sitting in 4 acres of fields and gardens we are very happy for guests to wander around the grounds. Depending on the time of year there will be fresh organic produce from the gardens that can be eaten or cooked etc. If you are bringing a dog, we have a large fully fenced field where they can roam safely. Please always close all gates.
The local village is very small and has just a primary school, pub and our great community shop selling all the essentials: local vegetables, eggs and the famous Horsley sausage. A 5 minute drive from the barn takes you to the thriving town of Nailsworth and you have everything you could need including Hobbs House Bakery and The Canteen serving brunches and great coffee. There are also larger supermarkets and chemist etc. The Cotswolds towns of Tetbury and Cirencester are just a bit further away. There are plenty of sporting opportunities in the area with racing at Cheltenham, Bath and Chepstow, polo at Cirencester Park and Westonbirt, golf at Minchinhampton, gliding at Aston Down, not to mention the vast array of local walks through the surrounding countryside. If football is your thing we have the world’s most sustainable football club at Forest Green Rovers (National League II).
  • We had a wonderful time at the Barn. The facilities were amazing and we loved the indoor fire and the lovely field for our old dog to plod around it. He thoroughly enjoyed it, as did we. We would definitely recommend this place to stay and we would love to return next year.

  • Fantastic barn in the cotswolds which was perfect for a weekend escape. Location is great to explore the south cotswolds. Matt was very quick to respond to messages and the little hamper on arrival was a very nice touch. We stayed the weekend before christmas and it was nice to have the lights and a great tree in the barn!

  • Look no further! That's the best accomodation you can find in the Cotswolds. Wonderful two-story cabin, easy to find, absolutely well-equipped and perfect to explore the area. Plus the communication with Matt is always quick and resolutive. You won't want to leave the place!

  • Beautiful place! Lovely touches and Matt gave us brilliant local tips. He's a great host and helped us when we got lost. Ba4n looks simple from the outside but once inside its been brilliantly decorated. Huge bath and lovely log burner. Loved it!

  • The accommodation was absolutely lovely, full of character and cosy. It was a great place to escape to for our mini honeymoon. a tip- would be good if there was a bit more information about what to do in the area by the owners.

  • Spent a Friday and Saturday night , really lovely place with a great pub down the road , called The Hogg we were very impressed with the food , I can recommend “Dave’s Fish Pie”! Overall a very relaxing weekend despite the weather . Nailsworth is a local town worth visiting with an array of restaurants/ coffee shops and a proper high street which is rare to find .

  • A brilliant little bolt hole for a couple. I highly recommend it. Loads of nice little touches and very peaceful.

    Nicholas2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay, lovely quiet location tuck away with lovely little local towns, walks and national trust parks only a stones throw away. Lovely stylish living space which was clean, tidy and a pleasure to stay in. Matt was extremely welcoming and willing to help on the phone when we got lost on our way there, even though he was in Italy!! He also left us a lovely hamper with lots of goodies like bread, egg, cookies and other bits. Could not have asked for more if you are considering booking this place, do it!! You will not regret it.

Wonderful modern semi detached house situated in the beautiful village of Tetbury within the Costwolds. It is within a few minutes walk of the town square, shops, antiques, restaurants and pubs. We're right in the middle of the Cotswolds so the main towns and villages are all within a 20-40 min drive. Main attractions in Tetbury: -The Royal Gardens at Highgrove -Westonbirt Arboretum -Clavenage House
The house has just been freshed up with new painting, flooring and furniture. The kitchen / dining area is fitted with new dishwasher, full size oven, fridge, Fred, hob and grill. There is one bedroom with a brand new single bed that can be converted to a double and another bedroom with a normal single bed (also new). There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and sink. Toilet downstairs. Very cosy living room and very light and welcoming conservatory that opens up to a garden.
The town of Tetbury is in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds and is proud of its 1300 years of recorded history since 681 when Tetta's Monastery was mentioned in a charter by King Ethelred of Mercia. In the Middle Ages, Tetbury was an important market town for the Cotswolds wool trade and the town centre is still dominated by the splendid pillared Market House built in 1655. The town is known as an 'architectural gem' as many of the wool merchants houses still look as they did 300 years ago. Tetbury is well known for its 25 antique shops and its close proximity to Prince Charles's residence of Highgrove. The town has a wonderful variety of shops including many specialist shops offering a wide choice. Many of the shops are individually owned where you will receive personal attention of the owner and experience a level of service long since vanished from many high streets. Several of Tetbury's retailers have received national awards for excellence and the visitor will notice that many of the towns businesses bear the Prince of Wales feathers as a sign that they hold the Royal Warrant. The market town of Tetbury has a wide choice of tea shops, bistros, cafes, pubs and restaurants which offer a good choice of food and drink. Some of our favourite pubs are the Royal Oak, Snooty Fox or Priory Inn.
  • A smallish but extremely clean and comfortable space, close to the shops and restaurants. Perfect for our needs. Cristina and Greg were very hospitable. Great value - I’d recommend to anyone!

  • Our stay at Christina and Greg’s home was brilliant, I could not fault it one bit. Christina and Greg are a lovely couple who are very approachable and friendly. Their home is beautiful with everything you need. There is free parking outside of the home and the house is in a fantastic location. I would highly recommend staying here as it is great value for money and you will have a lovely experience.

  • Cristina & Greg have a fabulous place in Tetbury, it was fantastic to stay with two house proud people. They were always happy to help and couldn't do enough. If I will pass by the Cotswolds again, I am sure to stay with them.

    Sam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cristina and Greg are super super hosts in our book!! Their home is exactly as pictured---immaculate, cozy, inviting and located in a picture perfect Cotswolds village walking distance to the high street. They were very accommodating, checking in / out was most convenient and they went out of their way to provide us with tips for local areas of interest that were on our "must see" list as well as some new ones to discover. We could not have asked for better and would definitely stay with them again!!

Welcome to my flat in Stroud town centre! We are opposite the train station and the bustling town where you have all the local shops and services on your doorstep. The room is nicely lit and very quiet in spite of being so central as we are on the top floor of the apartment building. The studio lounge/kitchen is comfortable and warm and you are welcome to use the utilities such as tv and wifi..
I have a two bedroom flat with one bathroom and a studio kitchen/lounge.
  • Chris's flat is clean, quiet, safe, and very convenient if you would like to visit Stroud and the surrounding Cotswold region. Although it is within a few yards if the railway station and located in the centre of the village, it is set back from the street perfectly so that there is no noise whatsoever. The one large bedroom and adjoining bathroom were perfectly clean and the shower itself was hot, strong and really good after as long day out. His living/kitchen has all that you need to make a quick meal though there are also many little cafes and restaurants nearby - an advantage of being in the centre of town. I would strongly recommend Chris's flat for anyone looking to stay at an inexpensive BnB in the great little village of Stroud.

Our little cozy space in the Cotswolds provides you with a comfortable stay that is only a stroll away from Gatcombe Park, two village pubs and access to beautiful country walks. Our annex is located in our garden with with its own private entrance. Close by are the market towns of Nailsworth, Tetbury and Minchinhampton and just a little further are Stroud and Cirencester.
The accommodation is private and separate from our main family house, set back a little across a courtyard. The entrance takes you into a sitting room with sofa, coffee table and dresser. This in turn leads off to a small downstairs shower room with toilet. The downstairs kitchenette has basic self-catering facilities (a double induction hob, microwave with convection oven and grill, undercounter fridge with small freezer compartment, coffee machine, toaster, electric kettle, sink and washing up facilities) and a table with two chairs. From the kitchenette the stairs lead up to a bedroom with a double bed, chest of drawers, armchair and full length mirror. Upstairs also contains a bathroom with sink and toilet. The accommodation has its own central heating.
Avening is a Cotswolds village with an 11th century church and two pubs, the Queen Matilda and The Bell that both serve food. Avening borders the estate of Gatcombe Park, the home of Princess Anne. Gatcombe Park hosts the horse trials of Festival of British Eventing in August and two smaller ones in Spring and Autumn, and craft fairs in May and October. There are many country walks to enjoy from and beyond Avening. The surrounding towns have many pups, cafes, restaurants and markets. Our home is located next to the village playing field.
  • Very clean and comfortable accommodation , situated in a good location for visiting surrounding attractions. Friendly and helpful hosts.

Escape the high street and lose yourself in village lanes full to bursting with quirky and independent shops, restaurants and farmers markets or soak up the amazing atmosphere of one of our many festivals and events. Don’t be put off by our lack of coastline either! We have 40 miles of lakes in the Cotswold Water Park and numerous gently winding streams, canals and waterways criss-crossing the picturesque towns and villages. On the door step: WOODCHESTER PARK - the secret valley: Nestled in the Cotswolds, the secluded valley of Woodchester Park is home to the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park, a Victorian mansion, a chain of five lakes fringed by woodland and pasture, and an abundance of wildlife. The 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece was abandoned in mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. Visitors walk through an extraordinary architectural exhibit in which the secrets of the medieval Gothic builders and masons are laid bare. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the world. 3 mins drive / 30 mins walk: NAILSWORTH: The artistic, market town of Nailsworth is nestled in a wooded valley in the south Cotswolds. Nailsworth is renowned for its selection of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafes. Eating out in Nailsworth means you are spoilt for choice. Hobbs House Bakery is famous for being owned by the Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert – and was featured on their TV show. William’s Food Hall has helped turn Nailsworth into a foodie haven. It draws celebrities and foodies through its doors to dine on fresh seafood and local produce. 5 mins drive: MINCHINHAMPTON The delightful, small market town of Minchinhampton sits on the edge of Minchinhampton Common. It's made up of pretty stone cottages, many dating back to the 17th century and medieval wool trade. There is a weekly country market and a good choice of cafes. Minchinhampton was chosen as a scenic location for the recent BBC TV adaptation of J K Rowling’s Casual Vacancy. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Stroud Valleys from Minchinhampton Common, which sits on the Cotswold escarpment. It is an important archaeological landscape and managed by the National Trust. Rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted along with freely roaming horses and cattle. Please drive carefully over the common and keep an eye out for (URL HIDDEN) of the most famous residents is the Princess Royal who lives at Gatcombe Park on the edge of town. Every year, the famously quirky Giffords Circus takes up residence in Minchinhampton as part of its annual summer tour of the Cotswolds. 15 mins drive: TETBURY: Tetbury is a historic market town that is now internationally famous for its range of antiques shops and dealers. Independent boutique shops sit alongside restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guides. Tetbury attracts everyone from Royalty (Prince Charles and his sons' home, Highgrove, sits less than a mile away) to English countryside lovers, antique-finders, foodies and real ale connoisseurs. 8 min drive: STROUD: In the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the market town of Stroud - Situated below the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills at the meeting point of the Five Valleys, the town is noted for its steep streets, independent spirit and cafe culture. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the town, and the Cotswold Way path passes by it to the west. The award winning saturday farmers market IS A MUST! 25 min drive: BIBURY & ARLINGTON Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold village just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports! Originally built in the 14th century as a monastic wool store, it was converted in the 17th century into a row of weavers’ cottages. The cottages are now lived in by National Trust tenants, with no public access to the cottages or gardens, although one of them can be rented out as a holiday cottage. The River Coln flows through Bibury sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle, so called because wool was once hung out to dry there on racks after it had been washed in Arlington Row. With Arlington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. 30 min drive:CHELTENHAM SPA 45 min drive: BATH SPA

Clean, spotless, neat and quiet!!!!  Heating system and hot water awesome, a pleasure arriving home after driving around on winter.  Located in a strategic zone to explore the entire Cotswolds. Maximum 1 hour driving to the farthest town of this area.  Bread and milk at arriving and thanks for letting us check in earlier just to arrive home with light. It has all kinds of elements that make it a complete house.  100% recommended. We will come back soon for sure!!!!!!

  • We loved our stay here. It was really cosy with lovely underfloor heating. It had everything we needed for a New Year getaway. We cooked a couple of meals: the oven was good and a double hob and decent-sized kitchen was handy. There’s a pub virtually at the end of the drive, and a corner shop open until 9pm. We can also recommend the Jolly Fryer chippy half a mile away!

Quiet valley close to bustling town in the 'undiscovered Cotswolds'. Nailsworth is a good base for exploring the area on foot or by car; or a handy retreat for business visitors. Around 50 mins by car from Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham or Gloucester; 15 mins from Stroud. Nailsworth is very much a "foodie" town, with many superb restaurants and bars: Wild Garlic, Wilder, The Vault, Amalfi, Oldstone, Passage to India and Giuseppe's to name a few. If you are visiting over a weekend booking is highly recommended.
  • The Garden Room is so quiet, restful and well-furnished that even a one night stay felt like a holiday. Sal is an extremely thoughtful and considerate host and her b and b is highly recommended.

  • Sal´s place is in such a beautiful spot in the valley, very peaceful and conducive to rest. We found the bed super comfortable and loved having the ensuite attached to our bedroom. Also Sal was so kind to leave us some necessities in the kitchen (which we didn't even know was available before we booked, so nice surprise). Thank you so much Sal for your hospitality and happy room :)

  • Sal's Garden Room is absolutely lovely, and even better than the photos. The room is spacious, relaxing and - in winter - very cosy indeed. The en suite bathroom is sparklingly spotless, and everything is exactly as you'd hope: splendid shower over the excellent bath, comfortable bed, everything you might need, simple restful design and no clutter. I felt very safe, and pampered too. There is a brilliant little kitchen, shared with the other guest room. This has fridge, microwave, and even a washing machine. The location is brilliant too, looking out across the wooded valley, yet so near to Nailsworth. Sal is genuinely lovely. The house is perfectly designed for Airbnb guests, with the main family part of the home elsewhere, so you have complete privacy, and don't feel you are intruding. I was only here for one night, but it would be lovely also for a longer stay.

    Karen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked out of the way in a lovely house with peaceful rural views across the valley. A large and comfortable room and good sized bathroom, super towels with a bath large enough for a good luxury soak. Sal was very welcoming and booked us for an early meal at the local pub which was friendly and an easy stroll. Highly recommended!

    Camilla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sals place is a little dream. Perfect for our one night stay for a wedding nearby and with no hesitation we felt "at home" The space is perfectly clean, with just the right amount of little extras you may need. I slept better there, than I do in my own home and had to be woken up in the morning as I was solid asleep! No noise, or light to wake me up: perfect! I would recommend this place- we didn't use it, but the kitchenette is a fab space to make a little meal.

    Ava2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Another great stay at Sal's place! Just as lovely as I remember it and we were lucky enough to visit on the night of Nailsworth Noel, the local village Christmas festival. Sal kept us informed about road closures, etc which was really helpful. Lots of nice touches like last time - you won't be disappointed here.

    Jenna2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing time staying Sal's. Sal was a generous host a who made sure we were happy and comfortable during our stay - we appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as chocolates on the beds! The property was in a peaceful area, a short walk from Nailsworth. We had a comfortable stay in a bright room with a lovely view.

  • Sal is the best hostess you will ever meet, her rooms are very nicely appointed and very comfy. Sal’s kitchenette for the two guest rooms offers everything you could want for your DIY breakfast. Tea kettle, French press coffee maker, flatware, dishes, fridge, microwave/convection oven, the works.

  • Kate's place is great! Super value in a very cute little town. Everything I would have expected for a getaway in the Cotswolds. The washer was very useful for us in the middle of a longer trip. The kitchen is also well stocked with cookware if you are interested in making your own meals.

  • When I first arrived to this beautiful House, I was amazed immediately; I received a warm welcome, a house full with memories and love, I felt like I am in a different world, like Alice in Wonderland. My room was spotless and beautiful with its blue and white color and the additional bathroom just made it priceless. The description was more than accurate: lovely house with lovely garden, nice hosts and two welcoming, really playful wolf-dogs. I could do everything in the house: relax, work, study, socialize, it in or out, enjoy the sunshine or the rain in the garden, visit the surrounding natural beauty..... I really felt at home. Lesley and Emily were really helpful, throughout my stay. I could write a longer story how good my stay was, but the best is if you try it our yourself :) ! Thank you Lesley & Emily

    Gabriella2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay at - I'd definitely come again! You can tell the Lesley has many years of experience with running a B&B. Everything was as described and she and daughter were so helpful with giving me tips and ideas how to use my time in the Cotswolds best. Perfect place as a basis to explore the area! Thanks again :)

  • Lesley, her daughter and their three dogs are great hosts and good company. The house itself is well placed for quick access to the main road and an easy walk up into Woodchester park, where you'll find lakes, walking paths and a mansion. We had a lovely stay here and would be happy to return again. My partner and I can thoroughly recommend the hospitality and comfort of their home.

  • We had a lovely stay at the hog. Lovely village pub only a few miles away from the wedding we attended. The room was really quaint, comfy bed, nice warm shower a very homely feel. The staff in pub were very friendly the village is beautiful not too far from circencester, swindon burford etc. We'd defo recommend staying at the hog if your visiting the area.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hog at Horsley, Caroline was a fantastic host and made my visit to the Cotswolds extra special. I'm so glad that I booked to stay. Caroline was quick to respond to all of my questions online from the outset which was great. The room I stayed in was spotless and beautifully decorated, the continental breakfast that was provided was really nice, but what I really loved was the location. The Hog is a really lovely pub (the food and drink delicious) and is situated close to the centre of the Cotswolds which was really handy as me and my family were exploring the area a lot throughout our time there. There's also a great local playground at the back of the church next door to the pub. Caroline tells me it's only existed for a few months and my nieces and nephews just loved running around it and trying out all of the equipment. There's swings and a slide, climbing frames, a small climbing wall, dens made out of twigs and branches and even a sand pit and a zip-wire not to mention a football field and a gorgeous little garden that contained all of these sunflowers. Next to the park there's the Horsley Community Shop too which was so handy to have close by (everything mentioned literally a 2 minute walk away from the pub). I can't wait to stay again, perhaps when the seasons change, I'd really like to see how it looks in the winter! Thank you again for all of your help, especially your invaluable local tips and advice about where to go and what to do. Well appreciated. Xx

  • Great rooms above a nice pub. The rooms are at the back so it is quiet.

  • A short beautiful drive north of Bath, tucked into the lush summer Cotswolds, The Hog was a wonderful discovery. The room was fresh, clean and sharply decorated. The pub below was a warm lovely family atmosphere with exceptional food. Our concerns about late night noise from the pub quickly vanished. I wish could have booked an extra night or two. Thanks so much to Caroline and Greg for creating such a sweet spot along our journey!

  • We stayed at The Hog the night of my friends wedding at the nearby Matara Centre. The location was excellent, just a 5 minute drive away. Caroline was a great host, she had the room ready for us early so we could get changed before the wedding started at 1:30. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was great. Thanks for having us!! Alex and Stacy
