  • Our stay at this beautiful little cottage was just perfect. The place larger than the pictures make out but it still feels cosy and comfortable. Everything had been thought of and we were reluctant to leave! Also, it's set in a beautiful little area that's worth exploring. We loved it.

    Niall2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this charming cottage for 2 nights and it was perfect. It had everything we needed, felt secluded enough but was also very easy to reach local amenities and things to e.g. nearby Bruton. Clean, comfortable and actually quite spacious within we really enjoyed the time we spent here. Doey made check in very easy, and gave us a breakfast basket which was great. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

    Joe2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful cottage! Simon and Doey are wonderful hosts who have thought of every little detail to make sure you have an extra special stay. Could not have asked for anything more! Highly recommend !!

  • Lovely place.. will definitely be coming back.

    Mel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great little house in a really nice spot to get away and spend some time together. When it rained we lit the fire and stayed in, when it was clear we walked to the local pubs and around the fields. The hosts Simon and Doey were really friendly but not intrusive at all. Made us feel very at home instantly. Would 100% recommend.

    Charlie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful cottage, tucked away in a pretty hamlet, yet many places of interest are within easy reach. We particularly enjoyed Sherborne, Castle Carey and Somerton. Thoughtful hosts who provided everything needed for a pleasant stay.

  • Perfect place for a weekend away. A lovely cottage full of character. Feels private too, it makes you feel like a neighbour rather than a house guest.

Nestled at the foot of historic Cadbury Castle in beautiful South Cadbury, our home is perfectly situated for anyone looking to escape the rat-race and recharge their batteries. Great local walks and fabulous local pubs within walking distance. A fabulous place to break a journey if you're travelling from London to Cornwall as we are pretty much half way. However, be warned, those that have done this so far, always wish they were staying for longer, and sometimes they do!
Castle Farmhouse Cottage is in South Cadbury, Postcode: BA22 7HA
There is so much to do and see when you base yourself in South Cadbury. With beautiful local walks and pubs conveniently situated to refresh yourself along the way, there's no need to drive anywhere. However, if you feel more adventurous there are a plethora of local National Trust properties to visit: Stourhead, Montacute, Tintinhull and Lytes Cary to name but a few, are all within easy distance. The historic cities of Bath and Bristol are within an hour's drive as is the the stunning Jurassic Coast. Much closer to home are the local ancient towns of Sherborne and Castle Cary. And if you're into the contemporary arts, look no further than beautiful Bruton 15 minute's drive away to visit Hauser & Wirth's gallery, garden and restaurant.
  • Our second visit here. Such a comfy and cosy place to spend the weekend catching up with a friend accompanied by a roaring fire and a glass of fizz or three. Henrietta is super welcoming and helpful, there’s lots to see and do around the place and the beds are really comfortable too. We’ll be back!

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really outstanding Airbnb. Percect location, delightful accomodation. Great welcome from a lovely host who added some thoughtful touches for us. We will definitely return to explore the area further and enjoy another stay at this fantastic place.

    Richard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here for the weekend. It is a lovely cottage and Henriette was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable and had enough wood for the fire, despite the bad weather. There were lovely little touches like chocolates, prosseco and flowers. Would definitely stay again.

    Nailah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I booked a mini break away to Cadbury Cottage at rather short notice. It was our first experience using Airbnb and it was a fantastic one! Henrietta is a very personable host and we felt extremely welcomed to her home. She had also stocked the cupboards for us with plenty of treats to ensure that we would not go hungry! The property itself is absolutely delightful, very clean and is modernised tastefully without losing its historical charm. The only 'negative' was that we had to leave! However, we cannot wait to return!

    Sam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect way to welcome in a new decade around the cosy log fire.

    Amanda2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Impeccable. Flawless. Perfect. Cosy. Warm. Hospitable. Didn’t want to leave. Could happily stay for a year — much less a weekend. Thank you for providing such an amazingly practical and profound place to rest my head. It was all that is great about Britain. Fireplace with logs, comfy couches with proper pillows, cups of tea with biscuits, and copies of ‘Country Life’ to peruse. A super stylish bedroom with plenty of room to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. This place is totally fab — can’t say enough about I thoroughly enjoyed it. Henrietta has outdone herself only made more perfect by her genuine and extraordinary hospitality. Thank you again ever so!

    Michael2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Henrietta's is the perfect place if you are looking for a peaceful home from home cottage. It is in the middle of nowhere, which is what we wanted, but there is an excellent pub on the doorstep. The cottage is so dog friendly you could believe you were at home and we were even loaned a dog bed as I'd forgotten to bring one! Comfy human beds, a great log fire and the best hospitality.

    Elke2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Henrietta’s. Communication was great and the house was lovely and clean. A wonderful homely feel. Highly recommend!

Triple aspect ground floor bedroom with en suite bathroom (and shower), two good quality standard-width single beds (plus air-bed for a third person if required), handy workspace with oak desk & chair, a variety books and tourist information, along with independent access for guests. The house is on a quiet road right next to the pretty River Gascoigne. Ideal as a base for visiting Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. Kettle, tea and coffee provided in the room.
Our house was built in about 1860 right next to the river! So the views from two of the windows are of the river and you can hear the water trickle by... Please note that due to the age of the floorboards, you might well hear us talking and/or walking around in the room above and on the stairs! And we might hear you! Also, some mobile phone networks don't do well here... (We had to switch to O2 when we moved in.) However, if you can use ‘Wifi calling’ then you will be fine. If you are cycling, bikes can be locked in garage overnight.
Milborne Port is a quiet village with a lot of its own interesting history just a five minute drive from the lovely abbey town of Sherborne. Whilst it is now mainly residential, there are farms close by and there used to be tanneries and glove factories in the village. Kingsbury Regis was at one time its own entity and most of the old buildings in this area are associated with its farming past. There are two pubs in the village, a fabulous new haute cuisine restaurant called The Clockspire, a Co-operative supermarket, a fish and chip shop and restaurant, a chemist, a newsagent, a petrol station that is home to the Post Office, a doctors' surgery and a real butcher! All are within 5-15 minutes' walk.
  • I had the loveliest evening staying here. I felt completely welcome and right at home from the moment I arrived. Every little detail has been thought of. I would highly recommend staying here and hope I will be able to again!

If you are heading this way, consider a visit to Wells (Wookey Hole) or Glastonbury and the Tor! Also this way, for the shopaholics, is Clarks Shopping Village in Street. Sparkford is the location of the famous Haynes Motor collection. Lots of shiny old cars. Keep going West along the A303 and to the south there is the Fleet Air Arm museum and additionally, a great cluster of National Trust properties all worth a look. Further afield, to the North you have Bath, Bristol and the Mendip hills. To the south there is Dorchester, Corfe Castle and the Jurassic South Coast. Avebury and Stonehenge is on the way back towards London and is a nice diversion on the way home if you are going that way.

  • A tranquil rural retreat for two, cosy, character filled and well appointed. A lovely place, sparkling clean surrounded by beautiful country side. Lavinia is a perfect host, tasty home made welcome touches, welcoming and helpful with local Information.

  • I can't think of a single flaw with our trip to Lavinia's cottage. We felt so welcomed, and knew we could rely on Lavinia if ever necessary. I would definitely recommend it!

  • A quiet and out of the way cottage in the grounds of a farmhouse – surrounded by open fields and greenery. Easy access by car to towns nearby. The cottage is just the right size for a couple. An upstairs bedroom with lovely views, with en suite shower room. A good-sized well-equipped kitchen with large table – great for home cooked dinners or a big Sunday brunch. Good working Wi-Fi, plenty of easy parking immediately adjacent to building, no silly rules or regs, spotlessly clean throughout, and a friendly welcome. Just what you need from a decent Air BnB, perfect for a quiet, rural break for a few days. Many thanks – especially for that home baked bread!

    Lorna2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Practically perfect really. Cosy warm, comfortable well equipped cottage. A good central location to visit the coast, cities and loads of amazing prehistoric sites. • Rachel's house is really great. The house is warm and tidy and very clean. Our family of 6 people has a baby. The owner has prepared a crib. Many children have Dvd. The two children are very happy to play. The owner is downstairs. We, let us have a very convenient stay, I hope that guests from China can choose this home in the future, it is really great.

    Sha2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a pleasant stay at Rachel’s apartment. The apartment itself is spacious and kept clean. It is in a good location for travellers doing the Longleat and Cheddar Gorge tourist destinations. Comms with Rachel were easy and prompt; she was waiting for us outside the apartment with the keys when we arrived!

Gould’s House is a listed historic farmhouse set in a quiet rural area two miles from the village of Horsington, on the Somerset/Dorset border, next door to a working farm. The views of the Blackmore Vale countryside in all directions are stunning, giving us a feeling of being miles from anywhere, yet we are only three miles from the town of Wincanton and it famous racecorse. Gould's House Annexe is a one bedroom apartment at the back of the house, accessed via our back door.
Gould’s House Annexe is self contained and there is complete privacy, with a double bedroom, bathroom and sitting room upstairs and kitchen downstairs. From the back door, the entrance to both the upstairs and the downstairs is from a passage (for coats and boots) which also serves as the back way into the main house. This entrance and the spacious car parking area are covered by discreet security cameras. We do not serve any meals, but realising you might arrive late at night, we provide cereal, milk, bread, butter, jam, marmalade, sugar, tea, and coffee for your first breakfast. Morrisons, Lidl and local shops can all be found in Wincanton. The location is perfect for peace and quiet or for sightseeing. National Trust properties within reach are Stourhead, Lytes Cary, Montacute House and Barrington Court. The beautiful cities of Salisbury, Bath and Wells are all less than an hour’s drive away. The coast with the attractions of the Jurassic coast, Lyme Regis, Lulworth Cove, West Bay and Poole Harbour are all about an hour away. Pevlings Stables is just up the road and the area is ideal for horse riding. Within easy reach are the historic towns of Glastonbury, Shaftesbury, Sherborne and Bruton with the Hauser & Wirth modern art gallery, Castle Cary with The Newt house and extensive gardens, and of course the famous Wincanton Race Course. Local gardens to visit include Sherborne Castle (Capability Brown) and Tintinhull. Other attractions include Longleat, Wookey Hole, and the Haynes Motor Museum. There are many local pubs which serve good food including the Stapleton Arms in Buckhorn Weston, the Half Moon in Horsington and the White Horse in South Cheriton. We have a number of our own dogs and cats, and so we cannot welcome your pets here.
The neighbourhood is in the middle of the countryside so the only noise is from the cows on the farm next door

The "Annex" is a conversion of one of a small group of stone barns that make up Willow Barn. It has the prime view of the manicured lawn, carefully tended flowerbeds and pool, with it's longest side and two upstairs dormers facing exactly south. Once partly an artist's studio, the open plan downstairs is wonderfully light and airy, and its peaceful location on a no through road make it ideal for a relaxing getaway or a place to come and be inspired by the local Dorset history and landscapes.
The Annex was intended and kitted-out to be entirely self-contained. The kitchen has a full compliment of crockery, cutlery, pots and utensils and also a dishwasher and washing machine. Although the annex shares the property with the main house, you get the prime view of the garden, and with only a few small windows (with blinds of course) facing back towards the main property you can enjoy a great deal of privacy during your stay. The downstairs is large and open and a great place to relax. It is worth noting that the two bedrooms are in the dormer roof of the property and do have some limited headroom when you are climbing into bed. There is a dryer in the main property garage which guests may use during their stay though you will need to let us know so we can open the doors. There is also a sheila's maid in the pool room which is always warm. We try to be as plastic-free as possible in the consumables we offer for your stay. For instance, there will be a lovely natural soap bar in the bathroom and a bottle of milk in glass (handily available in the local independent supermarket) in the fridge awaiting you on your arrival to get you started. Please note that the pool is open May through to September only.
Willow Barn is firmly placed in rural Dorset. We are about a 15 minute drive from historic Sherbourne, with its 8th Century Abbey, new and ruined castles, gardens, museum and ancient town centre. Both Cerne Abbas with its horny giant and the magnificent Stourhead House National Trust property are within a half-hour drive. Willow Barn is surrounded by rolling fields and quaint villages with typically West Country meandering names; think "Mintern Magna" and "Bishop's Caundle". The Jurassic Coast, with the legendary 29-mile-long Chesil Beach is on the South Coast of Dorset, and is one of our favourite destinations, with its beach-side eateries and wonderful Sub-tropical Gardens.
  • A great property for those wishing to visit this area, as there are few properties near Stalbridge. A perfect base for the local area, with everything you need in the property.

    Suharupy2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We needed somewhere to stay in the area at short notice and this one jumped out at us from our very first look. After eliminating several others in the area we chose Willow Barn and I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed. Natasha responded quickly and was very accommodating. We arrived quite late but the place was clean warm and very welcoming, just what we needed after 3 hours on the road. In the morning we were able to appreciate just how peaceful and beautiful the gardens and the surrounding area is and I'm sure the pool would get lots of use in the summer. All in all Willow Barn was a lucky find for us, and we spent 3 very comfortable nights there. If I had to be really picky my only criticisms would be why no DVD player? We bought a couple of films to watch in the evenings but couldn't play them, and no-one uses VHS anymore do they?

    Neil2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place for relaxation. Fresh air and ample space for 3 of us.

Get back in touch with nature at this luxury cabin nestled in a quiet hamlet. Find tranquility on the terrace surrounded by breathtaking views, or lounge amid thoughtful decor and chic modern finishes in the exposed oak beam interior.
Blue Vale is brand new as of June 2018! We helped to design this green oak framed building and have been involved in the whole process of building it, doing much of it ourselves. For our colour scheme we have used different shades of blue throughout, playing on the name of Blue Vale. The furnishing and finishing touches are of a high standard to help promote a comfortable and luxurious finish. There is an eclectic style combining modern country with industrial finishes. Luxury, high thread cotton bedding and towels, large flat screen smart tv's and luxury Neals Yard toiletries help to give the top-end finishing touches we would appreciate if we stayed away from home.
The glorious Blackmore Vale landscape is a tapestry of farmed green fields with a sprinkling of English villages, of which Sandley is one. Walk out (or cycle, using our available bikes) onto country lanes and venture along a web of footpaths to discover this unspoilt part of Dorset. • Me and my partner had an absolutely amazing time at Blue Vale. Jayne was an excellent host and could not be more attentive. We were greeted upon arrival, we were informed of the local amenities and restaurants near by. There was such attention to detail. All the art work and décor was stunning and we felt so cosy and at home there. The weather was a little bit miserable but in all honestly it just meant that we could curl up on the sofa and enjoy ourselves. Our trip was for my partners 30th and our first anniversary. We were quite content in just staying indoors and making the most of our time there. You are completely secluded and it is all very private. The view from the open plan windows is amazing, especially in the early hours of the morning and as the evening dawns. You had absolutely anything you needed to not have to venture outside at all if that is what you wished for. With a full kitchen and washing facilities. The bathroom comes fully equipt with a shower and a bath that is so nice to relax in after a long day. Jayne was always available if we needed and checked in everyday just to make sure we were settling in ok and if there was anything we needed we only needed to ask. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are hoping it will not be too long before we return.

  • We just had a lovely stay in Jayne and Dave's cottage. The couple were very friendly and always accomodating. The cottage was warm and cosy with all modern appliances. This particular weekend had been horrible due to bad weather conditions so we couldn't really go outdoors but we didn't mind staying indoors because the cottage made us feel at home. We had a very beautiful and peaceful countryside experience and would definately recommend you staying at this place. Jayne and Dave have certainly put a lot of effort into making their place very inviting and we certainly felt that from minute we arrived.

  • I couldn't recommend Jane's beautiful oak airbnb more highly! I booked this as a surprise trip for my partner's birthday and it was so perfect for a relaxing getaway. The quality of the furnishings etc is of the highest standards and there is just no way you cannot relax here. The bed is so comfy and the bathroom is the stuff of dreams, from the giant tub, to the powerful walk-in shower. You can really see the thought and care taken in creating this place and we definitely plan on coming back. Jayne's hosting was second to none and the perfect balance of being available and nearby when needed but also giving you space and not disturbing unless you needed anything. It's a great location to either just relax and enjoy being in the countryside, or to explore the surrounding area - there's so much within under an hour's drive!!You won't regret a stay here!

  • Blue Vale is the most incredible airbnb experience we've ever had, it is very special, from the view, the thoughtful touches to the most welcoming and accommodating hosts, we couldn't fault it! 7* experience! The decor is very beautiful and there is a very warm and cosy feel, the welcome basket with local treats was much appreciated and the bed was so comfy we didn't want to leave it! Everything was of the highest standard, Netflix on the tv was great! Jayne and Dave really have thought of everything and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, including having a cake ready for my girlfriend's birthday on our arrival. Jayne also recommended some fantastic local restaurants - The Green (a few miles away in Sherborne) serves up a delightful Sunday roast that just melts in your mouth. Our favourite part of the stay was sitting watching the sun set on the gorgeous countryside with a glass of bubbly, we will treasure the memories of our weekend here and can't wait to come back! Oh, and there's also the most luxurious bath you will ever have the pleasure of lying in!

  • Air bnb review This is the first Air bnb I’ve stayed in that has been 150% true to its photos. Honestly the most wonderful and perfect place to stay. We were completely blown away by Blue Vale and it’s gorgeous surroundings. The kitchen/tv area, bathroom and bedroom are all fully equipped and beautifully decorated. The bed is one of the comfiest I’ve slept in (very tempted to buy the mattress) and you have the choice of a huge bath or walk in shower in the bathroom. We arrived to a Hamper of cereal, cider, fresh milk and many other delicious things. Jayne gave us a very warm welcome and made our stay the best it could possibly be - it’s no wonder she is a super host. After a walk we came back to a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge with a lovely Happy New Year card which was so thoughtful. Jayne was incredibly kind and went above and beyond for us - we are already looking to come back over summer! A huge thank you to Jayne and her gorgeous family for being so accommodating. They also have a very very cute dog. Book this place now!!!

  • This cottage is exceptional. It was tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and well fitted with all the modern comforts you would expect from a 5 star property. Above all. Jayne was warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make this a memorable stay.

  • Staying at Jayne's place was a pure delight for us. She is a fantastic host that we met in person and a warm communicative. We will be more than happy to come back to have another break and enjoy the country side. We were also very surprised of the great quality of pubs and farm shop around this place. In other words, we enjoyed 4 perfect days and felling at home. We highly recommend this place!

Patten Cottage is a comfortable, spacious 2-bedroom coach house conversion that's well-equipped with everything you need for a self-catered stay. It has a pretty private patio area and off-road parking for 3 cars. Located in the village of Holton, it's a 2 min walk to the pub and 5 min drive to Wincanton (Morrisons & Lidl) and the A303. It's easy to get to and a great base for exploring Somerset, Dorset and Wilts. A starter breakfast pack is supplied: farm eggs, bread, cereal, milk, tea etc
Originally an old coach house belonging to The Rectory, it has been extended and refurbished to a high standard. You can still see some of the old floor cobbles in the new walls of the extension. The kitchen is fully fitted, with a ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge-freezer, and microwave. It's open plan on the ground floor with a spacious sitting room, a large TV (Freeview) and mini hi-fi system (CDs or from mobile via Bluetooth/USB cable), plus double glass doors opening out onto a stone-walled patio with well-maintained flower borders. If you need a workspace, there's a desk and chair, a multi plug extension for laptops etc. and good WiFi - unlimited fibre-broadband circa. 36-38mbps. There are two bathrooms: a downstairs wet room with loo, and upstairs a bathroom with a large walk-in shower, but sorry, no bath. The bedrooms each have a very comfortable standard double bed with a duvet - and a single bed, made up if required. There's a dressing table with mirror in each and a few drawers, plus a free-standing rail with hangers.
The Old Inn pub - a 17th century coaching inn & restaurant - is next door (2 minute walk). The locals are very friendly and dogs are welcome in the bar. Expertly-cooked, fresh seasonal food is available, courtesy of the award winning chef, Phil Kent. Sunday lunches are very popular! (Kitchen is closed on Sunday evening and Monday). There are many other good places to eat in neighbouring villages (all the info you need is provided in the cottage). The closest footpath starts just across the road, through the apple orchards, over the fields and along the lanes (the local OS map is provided for reference). It's conveniently located for many local attractions: Wincanton Racecourse - 3.5 miles Haynes Motor Museum - 4.5 miles The Newt in Somerset (amazing new gardens) - 5 miles Cadbury Castle (Roman Hill Fort & dog walk) - 5 miles Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery, Bruton - 7 miles Sherborne Abbey, Castles & lovely shops - 7 miles Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton - 9 miles National Trust Stourhead - 10 miles Royal Bath & West Show Ground - 12 miles Kilver Court Designer Village & Mulberry Factory Shop, Shepton Mallet - 14 miles Gold Hill, Shaftesbury - 15 miles National Trust Montacute House - 17 miles Wells Cathedral - 19 miles Clark's Village (shopping), Street - 19 miles Glastonbury Tor - 20 miles Wookey Hole Caves, Wells - 21 miles Bath - 23 miles Longleat, Warminster - 23 miles Frome & Sunday market – 23 miles Cheddar Gorge - 29 miles Stonehenge - 30 miles Monkey World, Wareham - 31 miles
  • Wow. Stay was during winter in the UK. Cozy, warm, perfect for a 4 person stay. A modern cottage. Well insulated. We were very comfortable despite the inclement weather during our stay. Lots of wind and rain but the comfort of the cottage was more than enough to make us feel at home. Modern kitchen with all the necessary tools and utensils for a comfortable stay. The island in the middle of the kitchen has great utility. Wash and drier worked well. Dishwasher was perfect. Stove worked very well. All appliances in great condition. We made good use of the coffee maker. More than adequate internet connection for 4 people who are constantly connected in one way or another. Solid connection. Bathrooms were comfortable. Slept well during my stay. Plenty of hot water. Never had a problem. Warm lighting, the hostess has a very fine eye for comfort and coziness. Hostess was GREAT! Very welcoming. Went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Would recommend this cottage and hostess anytime. No complaints at all. This place was idyllic. If you are in the area, and looking for accommodations, you would be doing yourself a favor by booking this great place.

  • A beautiful country cottage - the photos do not do it justice. Spacious, modern, warm and homely and spotlessly clean. Phillipa was a great host - nothing was too much trouble. We felt at home immediately. We were looking for a regular place to stay with my elderly mother and we have found it.

We are and ideal stop over half way between london and Exeter. This is a 4 m bell tent with a double futon with mattress and pillows. And 2 fold out foam singles. There is a shower block on site with hot water and shared facilities although she is a work in progress she does have basic plates etc, showers, toilets and hot water. Logs for sale for use in the fire pits, but most of all we have the most fantastic view. Cutlery plates fridge tea coffee sugar milk etc in shower block
This tent is in the plough field for July and the hay field for August adjacent to the campsite. she will be on the campsite itself for Sept and from April 2020. She is a large tent with mattresses on futon bases for two doubles At the moment she has single bed rolls but throughout July she will get thicker mattresses fOr the singles. There is a fabulous view where ever she is placed and you can use my fire pits outside and buy logs from me on site. We have Dogs cats chickens etc on site please be aware The shower block is shared with two men's and two ladies Showers and toilets a kitchen area for washing up There is a portoloo in the field Solar lights are dotted around the site but there isn't t electric into the tents just the shower block
In days of yore, Wincanton was often used as a stopover town where folks would change horses, eat, drink and rest on their journeys between London and South West England. These days the Somerset town is an equally convenient stopping point, close to the A303 and roughly halfway between London and Exeter. The folks at Sunnyhill Park and Campsite are keen to uphold this tradition; their family’s been at this farm in Riding Gate (five minutes from Wincanton) for generations. Decent slumbers should be on the cards at the peaceful pitches, and there are free hot showers and firepits on site (and a supply of logs for sale to keep the flames crackling). Eats can be acquired at nearby takeaways, restaurants, cafés and country pubs, and it’s less than a mile to the nearest pub for your evening pint(s). No promises on the fresh horses front though – they do have horses here (along with sheep, goats and chickens) but the owners would rather you leave them where you find them. A mighty handy stopover it may be, but it’s also a fine place in its own right if you’ve got more time on your hands. Spend your Wincanton days cheering on the horses at the racecourse, visiting the Discworld Emporium or truffling out the tributes to Sir Terry Pratchett around the town centre. For more days out, Glastonbury, Longleat and Stonehenge are all within a 45-minute drive.
  • Beautiful view, lovely tents, people are very nice and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer. Great value, would highly recommend

  • Was a really nice place to stay with the kids in the bell tents. Try to get one in the big field which is really nice and secluded. Beautiful setting and the kids loved the animals. There are quite a few dogs around so bear in mind if you don't like dogs but was fine for us. We had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.

  • This is a great find, perfect location just off the A303, only 20 mins away from Longleat. Lot's of little touches; firewood, kettle, hot showers, toilets, bbq's, games to lend, even marshmallow and sticks. The tent was surprisingly big, Can't wait to stay again, the tent and facilities were clean, lots of open space and safe place for the children to run about.

  • We had a lovely stay at Sunny Hill Farm. The Bell tents are simple but have the bedding required, and facilities include shared showers, a small kitchen with fridge and kettle etc. The location and view is just lovely and its a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the busyness of life. Sandy and her team offer a very warm welcome and we will definitely be back! Thank you for having us.

  • Sue was a fantastic host, very helpful and approachable. I was expecting just a room, but it was actually my own flat, with my own kitchen bathroom and living room, which made it amazing value for money. It’s all on the ground floor which made it suitable for my ambulatory mobility needs. The property was spotless and well furnished, really comfy. I would definitely recommend not just the property but Sue as a host.

  • The Overdale B&B is an excellent, very quiet, home in the village of North Cheriton. Susan is a thoughtful and conscientious host who makes you feel at home. She provides an excellent breakfast to start your day (fresh eggs from her own chickens too) and you are assured a good nights rest. The B&B has everything you need along with a separate kitchen, a living room for relaxing or watching the news, and easy access to public footpaths. I can't recommend Susan's B&B enough - perfect location for exploring Castle Cary, Sherborne and Shaftesbury in this corner of Dorset.

Large rooms with high ceilings, oak panelled dining room, large drawing room with plenty of room for everyone to relax after swimming, playing tennis, playing croquet and exploring the grounds. Cosy breakfast room off the kitchen overlooking one of the gardens and swimming pool.
Rural area of south Somerset, surrounded by farms and villages. The local pub is a 10 minute walk away. The market town of Sherborne is 15 minutes drive. Stonehenge is 45 minutes away
  • This house is an amazing venue for a family get together or families sharing the facilities. Our 3 dogs had a wonderful time exploring the grounds and surrounding country side walks. The check in was made personally by a gentleman who knows the house very well which made it nice & easy. Very special memories made in a fantastic house.

  • What a fabulous property. Our family of 11 (2x children under 12) and 3 dogs had a wonderful time. The pool and the hot-tub were very popular as was the tennis court and the garden's in general. The house is really big but still felt VERY homely. All the facilities worked superbly and we even did some cooking in the Aga which was fun. Location is excellent too, there is Lidl and Morrisons about 10mins drive away (in Wincanton), and a nice fish and chip shop about 3 mins drive away (in Templecombe). The owner, Edwina, seems really nice too and always responds quickly to any messages. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Beautiful house in a lovely setting with great amenities. The whole family really enjoyed our stay. We celebrated our parents birthday’s with a murder mystery party which was great fun and a perfect setting for it.

  • This is a fantastic house, really well looked after, and set in an idyllic location, the house is much better than the images make out and the rooms are huge.

  • Coombe Cross is a really special place and had absolutely everything we needed for a wonderful weekend. We held a murder mystery dinner one night and BBQ-ed the other. The indoor pool is such a treat. Plenty of space for everyone to relax with lovely little touches like croquet set, foot balls and books. The house is huge but very homely with fun photos throughout. Compfy beds, sofas and plenty of outdoor space for the dogs. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Enjoy a stay in our converted piggery in the stunning village of Cucklington. An ensuite bedroom leads to a large living area where you can cosy up in front of the woodburner or throw open french windows to breathtaking views over the Blackmoor Vale.
The Piggery is part of Homers Farm - the oldest house in the village of Cucklington. Originally a dairy farm, there are reminders everywhere of that previous existence. You will be living in a part of the existing farm which is unique and now converted to make a comfortable stay.
Cucklington sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the borders of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire making it a perfect base to explore the South West of England. Enjoy rolling country side, breathtaking views, award winning village pubs and walks in unspoilt countryside. Areas of interest include the National Trust's Stourhead Estate (5 miles) picture postcard market town of Shaftesbury (9 miles), the abbey town of Sherborne (14 miles), ancient Stonehenge (27 miles), the cathedral cities of Salisbury (26 miles) and Wells (20 miles) and the city of Bath (30 miles).
  • We spent the perfect weekend at the Piggery! The view is gorgeous, the fire burner is cosy, breakfast was delicious and Carol & Martin made us feel very welcome and well looked after.

  • As you would expect from the pictures, the location is fantastic and the place is really cosy; we had a great time using the wood burning stove. As everyone has mentioned the breakfast is fantastic and there's lots of it. One thing to note, which Carol did mention when she was showing us around, is that it is a converted farmhouse so some bugs do manage to find their way in, particularly woodlice, so if you're really not keen on woodlice and the occasional spider then this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, it's a fantastic stay.

  • We have just enjoyed three lovely days at the Piggery. Carol and Martin are lovely hosts and the breakfasts were delightful. The area is really beautiful with so many places to visit. We would very much like to return.

  • Carol and Martin have a lovely little cottage with a beautiful balcony overlooking the valley. There are several great pubs and restaurants around (we loved the restaurant 'At The Chapel')! Carol and Martin also provide a lovely breakfast! The place has electric blankets, a small fire place inside and radiators for heating. There are also plenty of windows and a balcony door for a nice summer time breeze. They also have 2 very friendly dogs! Highly recommended staying there!

  • A real gem and far exceeded our expectations. Great hosts, a wonderful location with breathtaking views from the balcony, a clean, spacious and comfortable space to relax, with a wood burning stove for the evening. Breakfast was lovely and we really didn't want to leave!
