Recently featured on ‘The Culture Trip’ blog as one of the ‘TOP TEN FAIRYTALE CASTLES’ to stay in on Airbnb! Check out the Culture Trip website to read their amazing review on our home. Our home is a stunning section of a Victorian mansion house. With huge entertaining spaces and magnificent views out to sea. Enjoy time in luxurious surroundings in a beautiful part of the country. contact me for special deals as prices change depending on the time of the year. High season exceptions apply.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT 2 NIGHT BOOKINGS DURING HIGH SEASON, FROM JULY-SEPTEMBER. Totally unique 3 storey section of grand mansion with large enclosed gardens Lots of original features Open fire in the sitting room 2 large flat screen TVs bedrooms spread over three floors for extra privacy ideal for families and couples off road parking spaces lots of local activities: golf courses, fishing, walking, seaside activities etc. AMAZING views Famous former residents; Vivien Leigh & Laurence Olivier. recently renovated with new heating system & roof. Decorated for Christmas Large garden Views Full use of section of house Original roll top bath Close to the sea and Dartmoor Quaint English seaside town Lots of excellent restaurants Traditional pubs Easy access to Exeter and Plymouth Excellent public transport; we have a mainline railway station less than 1/2 mile down the road and there are also excellent bus links. Passenger ferry across to the fishing village of Shaldon (the oldest ferry route in the British Isles). MINIMUM OF 3 NIGHT STAY. All damage must be paid for. Any extra cleaning charges will also be taken from deposit. Double doors lead out to a fenced off area of a large garden. Lots of local shops in Teignmouth town along with pubs and restaurants and takeaways. There is a Waitrose supermarket in town and about 1 mile away is a Morrisons supermarket. Mainline train station is a five minute walk away from the property and there are lots of different bus routes from town that take you to Exeter, Plymouth and Dartmoor. The previous owners of this house had massively neglected it and let it fall into a terrible state of disrepair - it was pretty much derelict when we bought it. It had no staircase, water, electricity or gas supply. The roof let in approximately 40 litres of water every time it rained and the windows were all rotten. Over the last 9 years we have lovingly restored it - replaced the rotten windows; had a new roof (and insulation!) fitted, a new heating system has been installed and we have tastefully decorated with colours representative of the era it was built. We've given the house a little bit of dignity back. It's an on going project though so please take into consideration it's not a modern, double glazed property and you might feel a draught here and there!
We're a five minute walk from the beach and the town centre; as we're located on the top of a hill, we have the most magnificent views out to sea, estuary and the moors. It's an idyllic location and a beautiful house.
  • Rosalyn's Folly is a beautiful place with plenty of books, games, space and a ton of great kitchen equipment - although only 1 chopping board - which can be a problem if you're cooking for 8! Check-in process was great with a key lockbox, and communication with Rosalyn was a breeze. It is important to reiterate to future visitors that this is just one section of the whole castle shown in the photos and despite this having enough room to sleep maybe 9 people, there is only one bathroom (with an extra toilet downstairs - outside). This wasn't a problem for us, however, and it was worth it. The location is fantastic and the view from the kitchen and some bedrooms is incredibly beautiful since you're up a hill and can see the bay. It's located in a residential area, surrounded by houses and you can easily walk in to town. Overall, a great stay in a cool castle!

You definitely delivered on making our Christmas magical, the house was spottlesly clean, warm and the views were amazing. The decor was very well done. The extra touches of a stunning beautifully decorated tree and decorated house were well beyond expitations and helped make our experience perfect. thank you again will see see again soon hopefully next summer. The only issue we had was having to go home.

Due to Covid-19, to support only essential travel, the NHS and limit spread of the virus, I am taking no bookings up to the end of May. This may extend. Unique & beautiful BackBeach; Fisherman's cottage, self-contained, ground-floor. Stunning sunsets & moonlit waters up the River Teign to Dartmoor. Enjoy river, harbour & beach life, winter storm watching. Steps 2 eateries, Shaldon Ferry, Arts Quarter. Town Center a few mins walk.
Lots to do, but also a perfect place to do nothing here on the Back Beach in Teignmouth, my home town. More tranquil in the winter, and especially cosy with the wood-burner on winter nights. Great space to stay all year round, with books and games, TV, wifi. The picture window faces the beach and up the River Teign to Dartmoor with Haytor Rock on the horizon. For walkers, the Templar Way passes just outside - an 18 mile hike to Haytor. For artists and photographers the light and coastal/rural scenery from the house is gorgeous. River activity to watch from the house includes: harbour seal; swans/sea birds, cargo ships, rowers and amazing sunsets. The house has a 'Trot' a mooring for a small boat which you are free to use for your own boat. If planning to use the trot can you let me know at least 48 hours in advance. Perfect for visiting Exeter, or Dartmoor for a walk and a pub lunch. More tranquil in the autumn and winter months, but still plenty to do - local shops; Arts Quarter; pubs, restaurants; live music events; Pavilions Community Arts centre. The seawall and the front beach are great for storm watching, and surfers. You may also spot a fox on the cliff embankment, dolphins out at sea, and a bird of prey high above the cliff near the TEIGNMOUTH sign. Two car parks 2-3 minutes walk from my place. It can get busy so I now provide Free designated parking, a 3-minute drive (and a 5-minute straight walk back to my place) on the forecourt of a residential building. One of my favourite times of day: After the crowds have gone home (on a sunny day) looking out of my window, at the River Teign, with the lights of Shaldon Bridge on calm waters, and Venus rising in the night sky. Good for the heart. Kitchen provisions: tea, hot chocolate, 'real' and instant coffee, milk, marmite, local honey, jams, oats, homemade muesli; vinegars, olive oil, herbs, spices. And a Devon cream tea with scones from a local award winning bakery!
The back beach neighbourhood is unique. This is the River Teign beach area of Teignmouth, this small coastal town in Devon in the South West of England. There is a fishing community and a working quay close by and always something going. You will be in the heart of this friendly community. Festivals and events in throughout the year e.g. summer: Carnival week; regatta week; Ship Inn music August Bank Holidays and selected other dates. Winter includes Jazz festival November. At any time of the year the restaurants might be fully booked. During the winter months they may be open 3-4 days per week - if you want to eat in one of them book beforehand. Pubs serve pub food with no need to book e.g. the Ship Inn 2 doors down facing the river, with tables inside and outside; also the Crab Shack restaurant next door but one is popular, with tables inside and outside.
  • Great position helpful host, comfortable and well equipped kitchen.

  • What a gem! A stylish little flat with great views and a wonderful location. Anne was friendly and helpful and we loved all of the personal touches around the place.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed in Anne's beautiful place in February. Although it was very wet and windy, we had an amazing time. Anne's place is cosy and comfortable. We lit fires and had baths every evening. Anne is a great host, from afternoon tea on arrival to bringing wood down for the fire. She was always available if we had any questions. Absolutely amazing host and wonderful place to stay. I'd definitely recommend staying. Thanks Anne!

    Rebekah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great residence and location. Modern and clean but also cosy and welcoming. Can't recommend highly enough. Anne (the host) was welcoming and super helpful with guides to the area.

    Tristan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's place is as described, it has everything you need and more. It is so cosy and warm with the central heating and the log burner. It is a few steps away from a pub and restaurant and a few more to the other shops. When we stayed in January it was so quiet. We loved parking up the car and walking, so many walks from the flat and lots of information supplied. We would like to return one day.

I am a teacher and my wife works in adult social care. We work away from Sunday to Wednesday night and then you'd have the whole flat to yourself.
  • I recommend this place to spend a short period in Dawlish. I hope we see each other again!

Lower deck has gone green we have decided it’s important to us to be as environmentally friendly as possible so we are now using ecover products to wash our bedding and clean the apartment we hope our guests will appreciate this . The lower deck is a newly converted ground floor apartment near Teignmouth's Vally park nature reserve and a short walk to Shaldon bridge or Teignmouth town centre and Beaches.
The Lower Deck has been beautifully appointed with a nautical theme running throughout . The apartment has a luxury bathroom with walk in shower that is ensuite to the bedroom but can also be accessed from the living room if family or friends are using the comfortable sofa bed in the living room. There is also a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment for all your self catering needs.
Coombevale road is a great place to be as there is a lovely nature reserve just up the road and you can easily walk to the back beach or shaldon within a few minutes
  • Great place, very clean and had everything we needed.

  • Lovely self contained apartment, comfortably furnished and comfortable bed

    Martin2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice, beautifully decorated apartment that the owners keep to a high standard. Whilst it may not be the most central location, this is more than made up for by the standard of the accommodation. It is literally a 14 minute walk to everything you need or a 5 minute drive. Emma is quick to respond and has plenty of information to hand regarding the area. We would highly recommend this apartment.

    Zoe2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Lower Deck is a very stylish and spotless apartment in a very good location to access Teignmouth town centre and see front - approx 10 min walk. All the decor, fittings and appliances are relatively new and in good working order and Emma was in good communication for all requirements. Well worth a stay. We really enjoyed our stay there

Our house is close to town centre with lots of nice eateries, shops and pubs. It is 10 minutes from the beach and the Green with the river and exotic waterfowl. It would suit a single person on a short stay both for leisure or business. NO PETS. You will share our lovely spacious kitchen and our upstairs bathroom. The room also houses our book shelves, so happy reading.

My home is a terraced cottage in a quiet road with easy walking distance of the train station, town centre, harbour and beautiful local beaches. Parking is outside on the street. The space is cosy and intimate with lots of original artwork, books and a cat. I am generally out during the daytime, allowing guests privacy. I also enjoy to meet new people, share knowledge of the area and recommend places to walk, visit or eat out. I welcome guests from all backgrounds and countries.
The guest room is upstairs and the bed is a low futon which may not suit everybody. The bathroom is on ground level and is shared so asks for some flexibility. The kitchen is also shared and guests are welcome to use all appliances. I can provide a Continental breakfast or guests can self cater.
Teignmouth is both diverse and relaxing, with both coastal beaches and an inland working harbour. It has various waterfront cafes and pubs; watersports and rowing; a contemporary Theatre and performance art centre and many skilled local artists.
  • Good advice on walks and short trips.

    Gordon2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Angela is a great host who lives a small, pretty house in a quiet residential location only a few minutes walk away from the centre of Teignmouth. The whole house is filled with art which she has either made or collected over the years. The room is lovely, at the upstairs front of the house with a very comfortable low bed and she has a downstairs bathroom. She’s also got a cat, ‘Jasper’ who is very unobtrusive. I stayed for three nights and spent most of my time out but I had my own key if I was going to be very late. Parking is on the road which is narrow and on an incline but I never had a problem and there were always spaces available. Angela also offered me breakfast if I wanted it. I had a lovely, unstressful time and would recommend staying at Angela’s house to anyone.

    Rob2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Angela has a lovely space, with a very comfortable bed if you enjoy futons, which I do. The space was quiet and clean and private if needed. Angela is easy to talk with, and all amenities are clean and easy to use. I especially enjoyed cuddles with her cat in the morning!

    Sybil2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy and welcoming home, just a short walk from the station. Would definitely stay again!

    Daniel2019-09-13T00:00:00Z

    Neill2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very warm welcome, charming accommodation, close to town centre, railway station and seafront.

    Sally2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A real little gem. Angela's cottage is both cosy and comfortable. We were met with a warm welcome by Angela who showed us her lovely home and made us tea. We were able to sit in her pretty courtyard garden where she joined us for a chat. A delicious breakfast was provided the following morning which included fruit, yoghurt, muesli, bread and jams .. also hot coffee and an assortment of teas. The cottage is full of beautiful sculptures and artwork which add to the enjoyment of staying in this Angela also has a delightful cat called Jasper !

    Rebecca2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The accomodation was comfortable, spacious and clean. The host Angela was very welcoming, provided recommendations on things to do in the area and was helpful when it came to asking for directions. Would definitely stay again and recommend this place to others.

Set in an idyllic three acres of rolling countryside near Dawlish, Leat Cottage is the perfect place to relax and unwind, a great base from which to explore the south west or an inspiring retreat to write or paint. A warm welcome awaits you to a cosy cottage set in stunning rural surroundings and only a 45 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive to Dawlish, 15-20 minute drive to Teignmouth or 25 minute drive to Exeter. There's plenty to do and see in the area, look at our airbnb guidebook for info.
Leat Cottage is set in three acres of stunning Devon countryside. Completely separate from the main house, Leat Cottage is surrounded by spectacular views. Bedding provided. - A bathroom with bath, shower, sink and separate toilet. Towels provided. - A bright kitchen with fridge/freezer, cooker and a full complement of kitchenware. Leat Cottage has a south-west aspect with extending views of the countryside set in a beautiful valley two miles from the sea. The valley is home to herons, egrets, deer, pheasants, buzzards, kestrels, tawny owls, barn owls and badgers which are regularly seen (and heard) from Leat Cottage. It’s a little bit of rural heaven! It is less than two miles (45 mins walk) to Dawlish along pretty country lanes. We've had many guests who have happily relied on public transport to explore the South West during their stay. The cottage is situated close to the long stretching beach of Dawlish Warren, a classic seaside holiday resort and world famous for bird watching. Dawlish and Dawlish Warren offer all the amenities you would expect from a seaside town with the added bonus of secluded spots to hide away from the world and enjoy the sand dunes and view over the sea. Ask Adam about the good bass fishing spots! Just up the road Ashcombe Adventure Centre offers a range of outdoor activities such as quad biking and clay pigeon shooting. Nearby Haldon Forest Park has an excellent range of mountain bike trails (plus bike hire), horse riding, Go Ape and a cafe - something for everyone. Teignmouth offers a Victorian pier, lido, play park, crazy golf and skate park all within easy reach of the beaches and town centre and only 15-20 minutes’ drive from Leat Cottage.
  • The cottage was exactly as described and completely clean. Sue left a couple of scones, cream, home made jam and a pint of milk. Very helpful. I went for a quiet week and it suited me perfectly. There is very little noise, just the owls at night and the occcasional car. The cottage was warm in a cold November, but the conservatory did get a little cool in the evenings. Also the rain on the plastic conservatory roof can be loud. But close the sliding door into the bedroom and all is quiet. Dawlish is a pleasant town with interesting independent shops. You can walk on the wall between the railway and the sea north to Dawlish Warren and the walk to Teignmouth is also interesting, partly on roads and partly on the sea wall.

    Lynette2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in the Dawlish country side. Sue and Adam are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

    Michael2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to rest and read. Walking to Dawlish, a very pleasant little town, is relaxing exercise. Garden is amazing, nice morning stroll. Above all, Sue and Adam are truly warm hosts.

    Ann2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Adam & Sue own a clean and autonomous home. Sue greeted us in person with good humor and was very flexible about our arrival times which were a little later than originally planned. The house is located in the countryside (away from the lights of the city, ideal for enjoying the stars in the evening) but close to downtown Dawlish and the sea (about 5-10min by car). A parking space is available on site. Thanks to Adam & Sue for their welcome and kindness!

    Astrid2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and bright cottage served by very small roads but in middle of the country side. Between sea side and Dartmoor park, it is the best starting point for beautiful excursions or simply a hermitage! Sue and Adam are very welcoming.

    Philippe2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Adam and Sue's cottage is ideal for a relaxing holiday in the Dawlish area. The cottage is spotlessly clean and cosy. The location is very peaceful and ideal for star gazing on a clear night. Dawlish is about a forty minute walk along a quiet country lane. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially with thoughtful touches such as the cream tea on arrival with Sue's home made jam. Hope to return again in the future.

    Fiona2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem in the Devon countryside. True unspoilt surroundings, very peaceful, no noise other than the birds and no light pollution at night. Close enough to local amenities but far enough away for peace and quiet. Sue and Adam were excellent hosts, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The accomodation was very quaint and quirky and facing south, so very sunny and warm. Great value! Highly recommended.

    Richard2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great host and location. The area is amazing. If you are looking to have a break from the busy city life this is the place for you. Really close to Dawlish and it's beautiful beaches. Highly recommended!!! :)

The Tack Room is a self contained building in my garden. It has been renovated and extended creating a bright, airy space, perfect for a relaxing break. The south west coastal path is very close by and it's a ten minute walk to the beach.
Originally constructed in the 1890's this was the tack room for the neighbouring coach house and stables. It has recently been extended and renovated to create a holiday retreat. The accommodation consists of a bedroom with double bed, shower room and living/dining area with kitchen corner. There is underfloor heating throughout. Facilities include a microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. A continental-style breakfast hamper is provided. The tack room will comfortably fit two people.
Holcombe is a small village set just off the main road between Dawlish and Teignmouth. The tack room is situated on the sea side of the road. The South West Coastal Path runs along the main road then diverting down to the sea towards Teignmouth and running alongside fields towards Dawlish. There are two pubs within a 5 minute walk, The Castle in the village and The Smugglers Inn just along the main road. Both serve food and the carvery at the Smugglers is a local hit.
  • We had a great stay in Janet’s wonderful place. It was spotlessly clean and was perfect for a few days getaway. Handily placed to go exploring either by foot or car it is exceptionally well placed. Together with the little treats I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

    Paul2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Tack Room was ideally located for us for visiting family in the village. & friends in Teignmouth. It’s beautifully appointed & well-equipped. And privately situated in the garden. We loved the homemade scones. And we appreciated the breakfast supplies too, including homemade bread. You can walk down to Holcombe beach & along the sea wall to Teignmouth so it’s an idyllic location, especially in the sunshine.

  • A wonderful hideaway with a refreshing sea view and natural garden. Perfect for our Christmas retreat with clean and stylish interior, a warm welcome and heartfelt hospitality. 10/10.

    Cabby2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place to stay. The interior was thoughtfully designed and there were lovely views. Janet was a great host who had left loads of thoughtful extras to make for an even more comfortable stay. Parking was good and it was easy to access the coastal path for a lovely walk into Teignmouth. There was a handy pub nearby and a good bus service locally.

    Kerry2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is a lovely host and we loved all the personal touches in her place. The space has been thoughtfully designed to make sure there's everything you need to enjoy your stay. Set in the garden it's a delightful aspect, so peacefully and relaxing. We loved the homemade edibles. We will definitely return.

    Andy2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful secluded cottage, fully equipped and stylish with a pretty private garden. Janet the host is most welcoming and lovely. Only a few minutes walk to the sea side and local pub selling good food and wonderful views, you will enjoy a very peaceful holiday or short break.

    Clare2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the most amazing Airbnb we have ever experienced. It is spotlessly clean and decorated with style. You have got all amenities you could think of and more. We did appreciate the little edible extras left by Janet !

  • This is our third time staying with Val and we love how easy it is to get to and the village itself is a gem of a place! Lovely listening to the Church bells and there's a lovely vineyard a 5 minute walk away which does some amazing food (and wine!) Outstanding hospitality and it feels like a home from home. Beautiful continental breakfast, wish I could wake up to it every morning. See you again soon!

    Jessica2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Val's place is a pleasant surprise - it looks fairly small from the road but opens out very nicely once inside. Val and Elaine's hospitality is exceptional and the room and ensuite are great. Very nice view from the window too and a lovely atmosphere in the village.

    Mike2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home on top of a hill with gorgeous views over the quaint little village. I had a very comfortable night there and felt that I would have become great friends with the hosts had I stayed longer. I fully recommend a visit. A lovely experience :-)

    Clare2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is quiet, peaceful and comfortable, but still very well located I would recommend you to stop looking and stay here. Val and Elaine are super nice and will make you feel welcome and comfortable at their house. The room is very comfortable, with a great bed, bathroom, wardrobe and nice river views. There is a good pub and restaurant in the small village and Teignmouth and Shaldon are very close and great to explore, with very nice restaurants, bars and seafront. Exeter is just 30 minutes driving. Highly recommended!

  • Little Guinea is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking for a few days away off the beaten track. The personal touches Melanie gives to your stay are fantastic, and the hot tub was an amazing luxury! Melanie is on hand and very attentive, but also you feel like your privacy is respected staying at Little Guinea. She was happy to help us with any questions we had and the welcome pack we were given was very helpful when deciding how to spend our stay. I would recommend travelling here by car as the local transport links are less convenient, but on the whole an absolutely fantastic stay!

Lovely views onto the beach front and perfectly situated to be right in the heart of what Teignmouth has to offer. We were two adults and a 4 year old and Claudia has kindly arranged another duvet for us. Parking wasn’t an issue in our case as there was plenty on street parking. Thank you very much

Welcome to this small comfy room in our modern town house in this small Exe Estuary village in Devon, very close to station (15 mins by train to Exeter). Stop over while you walk/cycle the S.W. Coastal Path, visit Powderham Castle, see blue flag beaches, Dartmoor, Cornwall, watch the Exeter Chiefs or for work! There's plenty to see and do. The village has great transport links, a SPAR, chemist, pubs nearby, a farm shop+restaurant at Powderham. Also only 20 mins from Teignmouth and Shaldon.
The cozy double room, with a refreshments tray and Alexa, on the 2nd floor is comfortable and smaller than the other listed room. It's next to the large bathroom which is for your use and occupants of the other bedroom (if occupied). There's space for your luggage and clothes in the large wardrobe and a small table to work on. This room overlooks the Exe estuary, the railway line and road. You can see the ferry pier. The window on the landing gives you another lovely view. Free parking on driveway or nearby roads. Garage to lock your bikes up.
There is a church, 4 friendly pubs , a very friendly charity shop/café, a Boots pharmacy, a golf course in the village. The Exe Bike trail and SW coastal path run through. Two more lovely pubs are a pleasant 10 mins walk away in the very pretty Cockwood Harbour! Best to book these. There's a well stocked convenience store very close to the house and Sainsburys 10 mins by car. The Orangery Restaurant by the Farm Shop has lovely food till 5pm. Blue flag beaches across the river at Exmouth and Dawlish Warren. Other beaches are not far to drive to! There are plenty of off road walks up the River Exe towards Turf Locks and Double Locks towards Exeter. My favourite walk is through a wood and path to a Farmshop seeing deer, sheep and the Castle. There's a seasonal floating restaurant (booking essential) in the middle of the Estuary! Powderham Castle is very interesting and often has music festivals. There's direct access to the River Exe Bike trail. Let me know if you'd like information about hiring bikes, canoes etc. We love a Roast Dinner and can recommend a few place. Starcross is a great base.
  • Lovely, clean, tidy home & very welcoming. With breakfast, very accommodating & most important of all a comfortable bed with a great nights sleep. Certainly be returning when I’m in Devon next.

  • This is a very good place to stay, in an unusual place too. Views across the estuary from one side of the house, nearby railway and main road and even the ferry, yet the other side of the house is still very quiet. Recommended!

  • Jan's property is clean and modern throughout, lovely views across to Exmouth. We stayed for one night and felt refreshed after a good nights sleep, Jan also laid on a breakfast of cereal and toast, and a nice cup of tea. Jan and Steve are a lovely friendly couple and made us feel very welcome, we would stay again :-) Very prompt response also, we booked the day before our stay and Jan was very quick to respond. Thanks for and enjoyable stay, Chris and Renee.

Once a small hotel, my dog-friendly house is a vast four-floor Victorian villa with spectacular sea views from the garden. Within ten minutes walk, you can be paddling, strolling along the prom, at the station or in Waitrose.
The moment I walked into this house I knew I wanted to live here and decided in seconds to wave good-bye to my Oxford life. The views from the first floor balcony out to sea are transfixing, the house a child's heaven for hide and seek. The room I have prepared for guests is downstairs on the garden/basement floor. It has an ensuite bathroom recently completed. The bed is Kingsize and bought from 'And so to bed' along with the Vi-spring mattress and divan. Two couples have gone out and bought Vi-springs after sleeping on it. The house is built on a slope meaning that the garden-facing kitchen and large living room at the back have high ceilings, a door to the garden and tons of natural light while the front-facing basement bedroom has one very high level and small fixed window which is covered from the outside for security and safety. Guests have commented on the room's cosy feel but people who want to sleep with windows wide open and natural light flooding through won't find the room suitable. Guests are welcome to hang out on the ground floor living rooms. Piano players are very welcome (!) to use the Broadwood and the balcony is a wonderful spot for staring at the sea, sitting and thinking and chatting. I have a 4 year old curly coat retriever called Connie and she's used to other dogs staying.
  • Great night’s sleep, bed very comfortable.

  • A great place and really interesting history. I enjoyed the privacy and kindness of Alison and Andrew. Only a short walk to Teignmouth station with trains going all over the West country. Also convenient for shops and walk through town to the sea. A very enjoyable break.

    Susan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful arts and crafts property within in easy access to the town. Very comfortable and Andre and Alison are fantastic hosts. Would definitely recommend

    Tristan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and Andrew are charming hosts; there if you need them and suitably discreet if not. Very comfortable accommodation that is on a separate floor to the main house and therefore feels nice and private. Would definitely recommend staying and perfectly located being 5 mins walk from the town and railway station.

  • Beautiful, spacious, great value for money and lovely hosts. Would definitely stay again

  • We had an amazing holiday while staying at Alison's place. The rooms was absolutely lovely as was the bathroom, the kitchen and the garden. One had everything one needs, it's very peaceful and Alison and her husband are lovely and so welcoming. The house is 5 min walk from the station and 10 min walk to the town or seaside.

A fantastic self contained one bedroom apartment, a stones throw from the beach and all the amenities, pubs and restaurants that beautiful Shaldon has to offer. Situated at the heart of the village, this property provides lovely living, dining and sleeping space with a well apointed bijou bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. A wonderful location in which to enjoy the coast and stunning countryside all year round with a log burner in the lounge providing for a cosy, romantic winter hideaway.
The property is accessed via an external stone staircase which leads to a modern stable style front door from which you enter the property into the kitchen. The kitchen features a fridge, oven and plenty of storage and is well equipped for eager cooks. The comfortable and pretty double bedroom has hanging space as well as a small wardrobe with drawers ensuring plenty of space to unpack. The bedroom has space to accommodate a travel cot (not provided). The lounge features a log burning stove for cooler evenings (wood provided during winter months), cosy sofas and a dining table and chairs. Wifi, digital TV with catch-up smart box plus a DVD player are all provided, as is a collection of DVDs. The newly fitted bathroom although small is perfectly appointed and features a small bath tub with a powerful shower overhead. The beach loft is well equipped with beach equipment including a picnic hamper/cool bag, windbreak and beach blankets as well as maps and books featuring local walks. The bookcase in the hallway contains books and games for guest use. Up to date local information, recommendations for places to eat and guidance on parking along with other hints and tips are all provided by the host via email in advance.
The beach in shaldon is a great place for a sunny day. The village has a great range of food and drink venues, many of which feature live music. Further up the road on the headland you will find another beach which is accessed through a smugglers tunnel! Just go past the ness pub and past the small Zoo to find the tunnel. The coastal path can be picked up from Shaldon by the Zoo – it is a beautiful scenic path but it is very steep in places. Teignmouth has all your typical English seaside resort activities and amusements and there is a walk along the sea wall with the trains running by on one side and the sea on the other. Dartmoor is only 30/45 minutes away. The cream teas at Badgers Holt tea rooms at Dart Meet are to die for – and huge!
